Windows Vista Home Basic Edition has been reinstalled and I would like to uninstall it
I would like to uninstall windows vista. We have now old windows with all our files on it and windows with nothing on it. I would uninstall the last installation and simply go back to the old. It's on a lenovo. It's my friends computer.
Hi, Cheryl l.,
Your system must have a Windows CD. Insert the CD and restart your system. When the press and the button to start the CD-ROM appears, press on and keys. Install a new copy of Windows.

I can't reinstall windows Vista Home Basic Edition to my Compaq presario laptop
Hello
I want to format my 'C' drive and reinstall windows Vista Home Basic Edition for my 'compaq presario laptop.
When I lived with my recovery disk, it has been fine until "loading windows files" and taking me to the recovery / restore point but not with the format options (GUI).Hello
With this HP Compaq recovery process, it's a different process than the installation with the Microsoft DVD
There is a section slightly more than 1/2 at the bottom of this link from HP showing you how to reinstall Vista using their recovery disks.
If you have any questions or problems with it, contact HP as it's the HP recovery process.

Windows Vista Home Basic Edition keeps looping and will not start
Windows Vista Home Basic Edition will not boot to the Welcome screen. It keeps restarting loop. I tried to go into safe mode, but who does not start too. Loops of safe mode and return to the start screen.
I have a dell laptop and I just restalled operating system. I had Windows Update set to automatically download and install. PC worked great until the next day (after the time programmed for automatic updates). I'm assuming that the started after some windows updates when installed. Unfortunately, I can not enter in Windows or Normal or Safe Mode.
Bill
If safe mode does not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

And that way if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive.

Windows Vista Home Basic Edition does not detect networks wireless scope.
running Windows Vista Home Basic on my counter top and it will not locate wireless... period. I know at least 3 in the box and he is always telling me that there are no wireless networks detected.
On a side note, I installed my router wireless on my laptop (so I know it works!) and have successfully installed on my desktop as well (or if the installation wizard tells me) the top round works on vista premium and office is vista home basic, but for some reason, the office is always telling me there are no available wireless networks. I went through the installation wizard for my router wireless twice now and still that it prove when I go to "connect to a network.
As much as I know there is no 'Wireless' or switch to be turned on anyway... There may be a command prompt to enable the wireless function?

Original title: green screen
my windows Vista Home Basic Edition does not show the Office when I log in. it shows only a green screen. I tried all the options in F8 mode with no result. How can I fix it without losing any information on the hard drive?
Hello
1 - do you mean that you get the green screen even in safe mode?
2 did you recent hardware or software changes to your computer before this problem?
If you are unable to start desktop even in safe mode, then you try to perform the verification and startup repair.

A POP-UP MESSAGE WARNING EXPIRATION OF WINDOWS VISTA HOME BASIC EDITION
I have a laptop Compaq Presario V 3000, purchased by me on May 28, 2008 in Bangalore, India (Reliance digital) and delivered to me preloaded with Windows Vista Home Basic with a label number key to the laptop. (The 20 product ID numbers is also known).
It worked OK all along.
(For the PAST 3 DAYS, I get the following pop-up message when I boot on):
THIS FIRST VERSION OF WINDOWS HOME BASIC WILL EXPIRE IN SEVEN DAYS. BACK UP YOUR FILES AND THEN INSTALL no matter WHAT EDITION OF WINDOWS (message on today morning: March 24, 2010).
I'm confused by this warning that I have a lot of data stored in my laptop (with HDD of 160 GB and 2 GB of RAM).
I'll be very grateful to expert MS Forum for helping me solve this problem of EMERGENCY, as I am only left with more than seven days!
Thanking you,
E Devadpss
You should backup your data NOW by purchasing an external hard drive and copy your data files on it. Then, I would give the store where you bought it a call. If they do not, call the HP technical support immediately. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

Backup "to a network' grayed out for Windows Vista Home Basic Edition
Dear Forum:
Vista Home Basic SP - 2, Win XP Pro Service Pack 3 (signed on as "Administrator" on both machines)
I'm trying to back up data residing on Vista Home Basic machine on a shared drive on Win XP Pro machine on an ethernet network. When I run backup and restore Vista HB machine, backup "to a network' option remains greyed out.
From now on, I can read and write in the public records of the Vista machine from the Win XP Pro machine and I can read and write to disk shared Win XP Pro machine from Vista HB machine.
I apologize if the question has been discussed previously. I appreciate all help to address this issue.
-Kevin N
I'm sorry, but Windows Vista Basic cannot save to a network location. It can only back up to a local disk.
Backup to a network location requires a more advanced version of Windows Vista.

I'm tired... I tried everything I can think of, as well as everything I can find online in order to connect my printer Lexmark X 9350 WiFi for my Acer laptop which is connected to my home network wireless via my linksys router. At the same time, the printer has been set up through my existing wireless network and was working properly. (FOR A SINGLE DAY!) Then I got the bright idea to installNorton Anti Virus Security. Since then, my printer stopped working through the wireless network. It works as a stand-alone Copier and fax machine, but nothing of the printer. I contacted Lexmark via online support, but their suggestions did not work or were so confusing that it would take a computer technology to interpret the instructions to correct the problem. I learned more about the Wi - Fi networks and computer by trial and error, I should be able to re - connect my printer the eyes bandaged. Help, please... This problem is ongoing for weeks. Thank you so much in advance.
Just a thought, as you say it started with Norton check his firewall exceptions:
http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx
Have a read of the link above re Vista file and printer sharing.
Permissions/Share info is there as well.
If you use Norton, make that file and printer sharing is enabled in THE Firewall (or LAN enabled, depending on how their Exceptions are formulated in their firewall)
See you soon.
