  • Cannot connect to Windows Vista due to password problem

I have a Dell XPS computer laptop model PP28L and run Vista Home Premium. When I bought the computer I bought in a pawn shop. Of course it was sold with no records at all. No recovery or restore of Windows disks. I have a valid Microsoft "proof of License'for my Vista Home Premium. Should I be reinstall Windows and if yes how I'd get the disks.

    * original title - cannot connect on Windows Vista Home Premium because someone changed my password, deleted my ID of the administrator and the guest connection. I am in the *.

Your only option is to do a clean install of Vista.  There is no free, download of the disk.  Contact the manufacturer of the computer and they may be willing to sell you a set of recovery disks to reinstall the system (but you will need 23 digit product key to activate it in all probability even if sometimes it is not necessary when it is made with recovery on the same computer discs).

Here is Microsoft's policy on software lost: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246 you can see is not much help.

If you can borrow an installation disk of Vista genuine of the same size of the bit of ANYONE, you can use that with your product key to re - install the system and start over (you get a new administrator account and set your own password for him - or to leave empty that you choose).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Windows Vista refuses to sort IE 7/8 Favorites!

Hello world. I have some version of Internet Explorer provided with Windows Vista on my old PC to Windows Vista.  Well, I just did a clean format with recovery discs and everything and I still have this problem.  I had an old thread here somewhere about it, but we have never come to a solution.  This very annoying problem leads me to buy a brand new Windows 7 computer.  So, in any case, I want to get my Windows Vista PC works properly.  If anyone of you could help me, I would be very happy.  I kept thinking that Microsoft would issue a patch for it but I don't think they have.  I do not know.  My Vista PC is not connected to the internet at this time.  It is not yet on this now.  However, if you all can give me some step by step directions to solve this problem, I would be so grateful!  I intend to print this as a reference when you work on it later.

Also, if anyone of you know how I can download updates for it on a CD and install from a CD, I'd be so happy!  I have a perfectly valid installation of Windows Vista.  I don't care even if Microsoft comes into contact with me.  I have more than enough evidence that my installation of Windows is authentic!

    Thank you!

    Hello KittyChick,

    1. you try to sort bookmarks alphabetically or with any logic?

I see that you have a thread in which your question is already that you want to sort the logical thread, and not in alphabetical order.

The Favorites with Internet Explorer 8 are intended to sort by name in alphabetical order and cannot be changed. This is normal.

If you are not able to sort bookmarks alphabetically, even after making a full recovery, you must perform a restore with another disc. You can contact HP to get a different recovery CD.

About, downloaded updates on CD, I suggest you download updates from the Microsoft Download Center and burn it to a CD. You can follow the link to the Microsoft Download Center below:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

You can key in the name of the update or the number KB update to download it and save it. After you download the update, you can burn it to a CD.

  • Problems with Windows Vista update error code I get is Code: 80096001

    Hi gang,.

I need help I can get at this point. I am currently working on a machine to a customer who had the rootkit zero.access top. The machine works like a champ, now that it is all clean; but for some reason any Windows Vista refuses to update. Let me mention the operating system before proceeding. The operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. When I try to run Windows Update, the machine has a total of seven updates to install; This is especially important and option. In the important section, the machine is trying to install a security update and that is 9. In the optional section, the machine is trying to install the driver as updates: video, network, etc. The PC is already running Service Pack2. The error code I get is: 80096001. I tried every fix that Microsoft recommends, even the Microsoft Fix It tool. Nothing seems to work. I had a simular problem before in Windows XP. If my memory is good, I had to go to the entry in the registry of Windows Update and apply a DWORD here, or something; I don't remember exactly what I did. I can tell you that I checked the registry and there is literally no key to change in Windows Update. Any help or advice would be great, this question is about to drive me crazy.

    Thank you
