Windows vista (Home premium) is not shut down or restart
The computer (with windows vista edition Home premium); NVIDIA Geforce 8400 M GT GPU) is not shut down or restart. I suspect it's due to updates of windows do not. If you mean a new facility on a reformatted drive or a system recovery using recovery of the manufacture process, Yes, certainly, unless it's a hardware problem - but then you learn nothing about what caused the problem in the first place and so how do I prevent it from happening again.WRT your mistakes: -.1. nothing to worry about, as most of the machines do not have parallel ports today (unless yours does?)(2) it is difficult to talk about this, without more details-, but because they say "dependants", rather that "unload", it can probably be ignored.(3) it seems normal - I've seen a lot of PC with this error, and apparently nothing wrong. -It is important only if you are connected to a domain server(4) the service (I think) is a result of system crash, rather than a cause of the grip.It seems that the cause of this will remain a mystery. My earlier concern about SR doesn't work not just because of problems still standing stop - but back your data first, so that if the worst happens and you cannot start the system later, you can go to plan B.As Lorien says, try a back system restore to before the problem started - although at 2 months, I would worry about the stability of the system later. Since you already said that you are willing to do a reinstall if necessary, give it a whirl :)HTH

Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.
You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type sfc in the search box, right-click to SFC. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.
Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hello
Try to re - install ZoneAlarm on laptop, BUT it tells me that I must upgrade to the Microsoft Windows Service Pack 1 (SP1) to do this... I am running Windows Vista and when I click on windows update it works for literally hours without anything happeneing.
Zone Alarm has a key valid license - but for some strange reason, he will not have, so I had to uninstall and reinstall ZoneAlarm - he tells me that I need this update - who will not come?
Note: Windows Firewall is turned on right now and when I look at 'exceptions' does not offer updates of windows as part of the selection list.
Please, any advice on this will be greatly appreciated.

Windows Vista crashes when coming out of sleep mode
When I get out of mode 'sleep', the computer crashes and I get a message of dump of crash that don't last long enough to play entirely. I have to start the computer in safe mode, and then restart windows vista safe mode. This just started happening in the last few days. Ideas for a fix. ?
Hi bissie,.
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Community Forums.
Sometimes an error occurs on your computer and you're immediately struck by a mistake. The only problem is that the screen flashes if fast as you rarely get to see what may have caused the error in the first place. Once we get to know the error that we would be in a better position to solve the problems on the issue.
First of all, we will try to disable the auto restart so that we get the full error. Follow the steps to disable it.
1. click on the Start button
2. from Start menu click Control Panel
3. in Control Panel, click on the system icon
4. in the window system to look on the left side of the window and you will see a list of options. Click the advanced system settings option
5. because the management of the computer requires administrative privileges, you can find the user account control is displayed. If she then enter the required information (if you are not the administrator) or, if you are the administrator, click on the button continue
6. in the advanced settings window, look for the startup and recovery section and then click on the settings button
7. in the startup and recovery window, find the marked section of the system failure and delete the "tick" of the option 'automatically restart '. Now press the OK button
8. Finally, click the OK button in the System Properties window, and then close the system window.
Let us know the error message you get after recovery from sleep mode.
You can try the Microsoft article that fixes most of the problems with sleep
How to troubleshoot performance problems with sleep, hibernation and resume in Windows Vista:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/950686
Also as you mentioned that this was happening a few days ago then you can try to perform a system restore. Restore the computer to a point while it was working fine.
To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
4. click on finish.
The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

Windows Vista crashes when configuring updates
I am currently using a Toshiba Satellite a305-s6916 with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I had some problems with the computer so I decided to reinstall my OS and have a fresh start. I made the discs by the creator of recovery on the computer disk.
I reinstalled my OS, got all my files and programs on the computer, then started updates. When I installed Windows Vista Service Pack 2, my computer rebooted, went to the "Configuring updates 2/3 0% ' screen and stayed there." The circle of "loading" froze, I let it sit for an hour and finally started strong. He went to the same screen and froze, I rebooted it in safe mode, it starts normall (not in safe mode), and then asked me to do more updates. I let it reboot and he did the same thing, I rebooted again and he went to the same page with horizontal lines on the screen. I picked up in safe mode, it went through updates and seemed fine. I was using the computer and about 30 minutes later, he froze and made the lines again.
I decided to reinstall the OS again in case I did something wrong or had a virus transferred in my files. I did reinstall fees disks on my computer of friends (same model bought the same day). This time, I didn't install programs or documents with the exception of my antivirus (eset). I immediately started this updates a little at a time. In a first time no problem, but he did 72 updates automatically, it froze on a similar screen, I rebooted and it worked fine (successful installation). I then continued to make updates. I got an error 80070570 for some and it is resolved by following the steps listed on http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/itprovistasp/thread/829de30b-0634-4186-9172-90cd5776b48c forum. (I have listed these steps below as well) I did not receive any other errors failed after that. When I did the update to IE 8 that it froze again, I rebooted and it has started well. I did several facilities and had problems with one more (I forgot to save that one).
I went until I didn't have Windows Vist SP2 on the list to download. I left this download and restart it, it froze again on 2 of 3 0% screen configuration updates, I restarted, same thing, then restarted in safe mode. He started up very well.
Although it seems to work once I started strong each time, I know I shouldn't have these freezing problems.
Any help is appreciated.
