Windows XP asking me to activate when I connect

Cannot connect to Windows on a virtual machine

The motherboard on my Windows XP machine is dead.  The hard drive is fine.  I bought a MAC to run Parallels so that I could continue to use some windows applications only.   When I try to connect to the virtual machine, it asks me to activate your version of Windows.  What can I do?  I don't have a Windows disc with an activation code for the old computer came preloaded with XP.

    Hello

    1. What is the exact error message you receive to connect to the computer?

2 have you made any changes to the computer before the show?

    3. what troubleshooting measures have tried to solve the problem?

Method 1: Follow these steps and check if this helps.

Step 1: Try to boot in safe mode and check if you receive the error message. Check out the following link to start the computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Step 2: If the problem does not occur in safe mode then, start the computer in clean boot in order to check whether a third-party program is causing the problem. To configure your computer to clean boot see the following link.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: when you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.

Method 2: If the problem persists then, I suggest that you can exercise SFC scan and check if it helps. To do this, please see the following article. The SFC/SCANNOW command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions. You can also try searching for devices strangers (with yellow symbols) in the Manager under the mouse devices and other pointing devices and other devices (if any). Right click and uninstall unknown devices. Then restart.

Also try the steps below to reset the power of USB:
    (a) the laptop off, unplugged from the wall outlet.
    (b) remove the battery for a few minutes, then reinstall it.
    (c) then restart the laptop.

  • Help, please! Got an old computer xp, when I turn it on it asks me to activate windows now...

Please help, I put in the Installation ID over the phone, and it says its not valid.

I tried to call tech support, but he said the key requested is not valid? I don't know what to do :(
I got a computer that my sister received a colleague for Christmas. Worked very well, my brother-in-law, messed with it today, replaced the motherboard and now when I turn it on it asks me to "activate Windows".
I really don't want to have to rebuy Windows...

Unfortunately, this is probably what you're going to do, buy another copy of Windows (or another computer).  When Windows comes pre-installed on a computer, the Windows installation is allowed on this computer and cannot be moved to another.  In order to have a component to show up and say: "it is the computer that I came!", this component is the motherboard.  Now that yours has been replaced, the Windows license that came with the old motherboard is zero and cannot be used any longer.

  • My windows XP keeps asking me to activate it, even though I have already

OK, I already activated my version of XP, and the computer knows what when I click Yes to activate the operating system, I'm greeted by, "windows is already activated. Click OK to exit. However, whenever I try to click on OK, I'm on a roll back to the login screen, and when I try to log in again, it asks me to activate windows again!

    Hi Peter,.

I suggest to refer to the article and follow the steps that will help you with the activation number:

Important: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

    Hi Admiraldom,

    ·        You did any recent changes of hardware on the computer?

    ·        Have you tried to re - activate your version of Windows?

Whenever you make any hardware changes or format the bank hard and reinstall Windows, you need to re - activate the copy of Windows.

You can activate the copy of Windows using the automated phone system.

To activate Windows by using the automated telephone system, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, and then click computer.

    b. click System Properties on the toolbar and then click here to activate Windows now in the Windows activation section.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    c. click Show me other ways to activate.

    d. click on use the automated telephone and then follow the instructions.

You can also navigate to the link below and try to follow the steps to reactivate the copy of Windows.

and he asks me to activate windows again... they want me to pay for the new license. Ive tried to go through the process and all the scenarios that they want me to buy a new one. I suggest that you run the diagnostic tool Microsoft Genuine Advantage in normal mode and copy and paste the results into a response for further analysis:

Run the tool and when it ends, click the copy button, open a text such as Word or Notepad file and select Edit, paste. You can paste directly into an answer here. Open a response, right click and select Paste.

  • I am running xp pro so why they ask me to activate Windows 7?

    activate windows 7?

I am running xp pro so why they ask me to activate Windows 7?

XP has been activated years ago? now, they say both need equipment to enable the garbage.

There is nothing wrong with your report that I can see - so you should not receive not authentic or notice of activation.

The notification came at one time and then disappear later?

If Yes, then it is probably due to a "race condition", where two programs or more are fighting for the possession of a file--in this case, it prevents the system WGA, checking the status of the operating system, resulting in the notification. A plus later re - test then clears the air.

The addition of SH Devolo may have been the straw that broke the back - is the amount of RAM on the system? XP SP2 requires at least 512 MB for a reasonable speed, so if your system has less, I'd say you are trying to upgrade if possible.

  • Pop box on computer asking me to activate windows.

I have a box come up on my computer asks me to activate windows, I have a copy saved Windows xp already and have done so for 3 years. This is the first time he came, what is a virus or a pirate? It seems that it is from Microsoft but told me to ignore it, it says I have 3 days to activate it.  It is said to reduce software piracy to activate windows now.

Try to activate again. If the online activation does not work, try the phone activation. If your computer has a sticker of COA above with your key, you can change the Windows key to him.
