Windows XP backup contains a media error

I have about a hundred users with Windows XP Professional SP3.  They all have a scheduled task to run Windows Backup to various network drives to different times.  Usually, it works very well...

However, from time to time, Windows backup starts and throws an error message on the insertion of new media in the network drive.  The only option is to click on 'OK' to continue.  If the user clicks "OK", it works fine, but the scheduled task is there if users don't interact with their backups.  I had a lot of complaints about; they will go to lunch and "there is this error message and now my computer is so sloooooooow!

What are the causes the backup Windows to throw towards the top of the error popup window insert media, and is it possible to prevent it from happening?

Hello

You can try to write a script or batch file that ensures that the network drive mapped and made something simple disk network as a list of directories

(for example: 'dir e:' where E is the network drive).

Then schedule your script/batch file to run 1 min before the backup.

An alternative (if you space) is to back up your files on the hard drive first and then create a script/batch file to copy the backup file to the network when done. The problem with this option is that you must give sufficient time to complete backup before starting the copy process.

I ran several backups on my external hard drive without problem, but I am now constantly a backup failure with an error code of 0x8078012D.

    How can I fix?

    Hi Helen,

I suggest to rerun the command chkdsk (check disk) and let us know if there are bad sectors found/fixed.

You can also see the following article for more information about the disk check:

    Check a drive for errors

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/check-a-drive-for-errors

Important: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

Also, make sure that the Volume Shadow Copy service is running.

    Follow the steps below:

    a. click Start.

    b. type Services in start search.

    (c) in the search for Services Windows shadow copy volume and the Windows backup from the list.

    d. right-click on the Service.

    e. click Properties.

    f. Select the Startup Type to Manual.

    g. click OK.

    h. now, repeat the same for the service Windows backup.

  • Windows 7 backup system Image - 0x8078012D error Code - fails to complete system image backup?

I seem to have a problem with the Windows backup when a scheduled backup image on a hard drive external fails to finish, although she worked successfully before many times.  Backup Windows reports an error code of 0x8078012D.

I ran the tool of error checking on the external hard drive with running repair options, but no problem discovered.  The external disk drive seems ok because I use a Norton program to back up data on the same drive with no problems.  Also Windows backup will happily make a 'non-system image' backup on the external drive.

But it is not an image of the system stand alone, or as an add on the a normal backup.

    Any advice?

    Thank you
    David

After many tests on the solutions listed here, I found a way to fix my problem. I had continually failure is to say the system could not create a snapshot or that my drive has been a failure. It seems, with Windows 7, you must configure options that are not obvious to the users.

    1. go to control panel/system/System Protection and select your C: drive.

    2. Select "set up" and make sure "Restore system settings and previous versions of files" is on.

    3. the Max use value at least 2%

    4. apply

    5. Select your key USB you will use for backup and configure it again to the protection and the whole file size of at least 18%.

    6. apply

    7. in the control panel go to administrative tools, open Services.

8 scroll down until Windows backup and make sure it is set to manual and not started.

    9. highlight Volume Shadow and make sure it is also set to manual and not started.

10 10 aller go to control panel, select backup and restore.

    11. click on "Change settings", and then select the drive you will support up to.

12 run backup let the system do its thing and everything should work.

    Hello

I keep getting error messages when I use the computer. It started two days after you download an update from Windows. A sample of the error is:

C:\windows\system32\difxapi32.dll is not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try to install the program by using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the provider of software for support.

I use a vista. I don't know how to solve this problem, many want to help.

    Thank you.

    Hi Colinthebrave:

Start with this little tool to help get rid of the error, once your system is stable again and then try to run your updates again.

Thank you for your message; Let us know how it goes.

    o The System Restore tool

If the problem you are experiencing started occurring recently, you can use the System Restore tool. Using this tool, you can restore the computer to an earlier point in time. The tool using System Restore may not necessarily help you determine the problem. When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose another restore point and then click Next.

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    4. click on finish.

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

Do you have an idea what is happening with my computer and what I can do to fix this?

    Thank you very much!

    Hi deacon829,

You did changes to the computer before that happened?

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists, to do this, follow the steps below,

Access the menu advanced startup options by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts. In the advanced startup options select safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

Step 2: If you try to install any application before this program, try to uninstall them.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/uninstall-or-change-a-program

If this solves the problem, you can deduct that the demand is probably corrupted, damaged or incompatible. You can check with the manufacturer of the program for more information.

Step 3: System Restore: System Restore to put the computer's system files to an earlier point in time.

Look for steps to restore of the system in the link below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-is-system-restore

    If the problem persists,

Step 4: A scanner online for any threat and try to correct

  • Media Center product error ": \Windows\System32\Mpeg2Data.ax is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.

    Hello

After you follow the instructions to repair a problem as indicated in the following thread, I now have a problem with Media Center

    https://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Office/Forum/office_2010-office_install/problem-with-grooveintlresourcedll/c12778e6-4822-4cac-ad22-6e39cd4a4180

Media Center opens OK but after the start of a string of television, immediately it is running (and still running), it produces the following error

    ehexthost.exe - incorrect Image

    ---------------------------

C:\Windows\System32\Mpeg2Data.AX is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try to install the program by using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the provider of software for support.

I tried to remove Media Center via Add or remove programs, but the problems reoccurs. No one knows how to fix?

As I said, this is a repair through the upgrade option (Win7 64 bit).

I've sorted the DotNet question using the cleaning tool to remove all traces of the previous versions, then only the latest version. Other remedies proposed in the community forums has not worked.

Another question is, apparently, that my Security Center is turned off, but when I try to turn it on, nothing happens - no windows/web page opens. The two are related?

How can I fix these problems?

    Hi Pyrcia,

    1. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

    Step 1:

You can try to run a SFC scan to check all corrupted files.

You can read the following article to launch the SFC scan:

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

Step 2: You can check the status of the Security Center service.

    a. Click Start, type services.msc in the search bar and press ENTER.

Note: If UAC (User Account Control) window is prompted for permission to continue, please click on continue.

    b. double-click the Security Center service and switch to the general tab.

    c. change the startup type to automatic, and then click on apply.

    d. Click Start, and then click OK.

    Step 3:

You can also check out the following link and try to download the Microsoft Safety Scanner and perform a full scan on your computer.

I had to replace the \wship6.dll c:\windows\sysWOW64 file not the file c:\windows\system32\wship6.dll

I had to start Windows Recovery Environment, load the command prompt and replace the file c:\windows\sysWOW64\wship6.dll to a system of work w7 (I used an iso oem and 7zip)

( 1 copy the file in a place should be on my boot drive (c :) in my case))

2 . restart your computer , press and hold F8 as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you will need to start over; to do this, hold the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

4 . Select the option for command line

type 5 bcdedit | find "osdevice" (note that there is a space after bcdedit and | and also find) that will tell you what drive letter to use to access your startup drive (d: in my case)

type 6 the drive letter followed by a: (d: in my case) and press enter , the guest must pass to < DriveLetter >: (in my case d:)

type 7 copy < your place should be > wship6.dll windows\syswow64\wship.dll (replace < your place should be > with the full path to where you place the file) (note the space between the .dll and windows)

    Hello

Did you do any change on the computer before this problem?

Try the following and see if it helps.

    Method 1:
I suggest to start in safe mode with network and then try to run a full system scan and check if it helps.
    Step 2:
    Microsoft Safety Scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The data files that are infected can be cleaned by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

McAfee should have disabled Windows Defender.  If not, or if you did turn back on, you must turn it off.  http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Defender-on-or-off   Windows Defender cannot be uninstalled from the Vista OS, but can be disabled to avoid conflict with other programs.

You will probably need to uninstall Flash and reinstall it: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/

I don't really like to make a negative comment on an anti-malware program, but McAfee has a reputation for sometimes bogged down operating systems.  If your problem persists, you will need to uninstall McAfee (to include using the McAfee removal tool) and see if that has any impact on your computer problems.  If there is an improvement, you may consider trying another program BC
