Windows XP Dell desktop computer. No way to accsess login password, a recycling system.

I was recently given a dell with windows xp desktop computer. System starts on the right, the problem is that I don't have a password. Not also given xp disc.  No chance I could make this usable device?

Get a legitimate OS that can run on the system and clean the system and install it so that you know all about the system.  I wouldn't another way for an opportunity system.

original title: can't see the computer on wireless internet!

I hope that's not too much detail, but I would like that the sequence of events to be clear...

I have a Dell desktop computer that's probably six or seven years now.  It did not come with a wireless card, so I bought a DLink router and combo card wireless, install both with the DLink software.  It works beautifully.

Later, we through my rep AT & T DSL, I got a Motorola modem/router with wireless capabilities.  I had plugged directly on my computer Dell desktop and moved to a Dell laptop DLink wireless receiver.  No problems.

The Dell laptop is dead and the DLink receiver has not been used for a long time.  Family of my daughter moved to our place, and I have connected his desktop computers and laptop to wireless internet, using the Windows Connection Wizard.  Still no problem.

I got a new ASUS laptop, I also linked using the Windows Wizard.  STILL no problem.

Now, here's the problem comes.  I moved the Dell desktop computer, connected the DLink wireless receiver to it and I am able to get wireless access ONLY when I go into the properties of PC, click the wireless networks tab and check the "use Windows to configure my wireless network" box.  Then I can connect correctly, but I don't see this computer on my wireless network.  Bad luck... because I want to be able to access share files.  When I try to connect using different assistants of Windows, I get a message to the effect that, if I used another software to connect to the program, I can't use the Windows Wizard.

So, what can I do to remove the original configuration of DLink completely and to connect to my wireless network using the wizards in Windows?  I uninstalled the software of DLink, but it seems to have no effect at all.

BTW, Dell desktop computer is running XP, office computer of my daughter is running VISTA, and two laptops are equipped with Windows 7.  I can see all the computers on the network with the exception of the original Dell desktop computer wireless.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hello @Scooby777,

Welcome to the HP support forums.

    Certainly not a stupid question.

The answer is: Yes, you need to install the software on all your devices.

You can also choose to install the base drivers.

Base drivers will give you all the features of the printer.

  • I have a 2012 w/Win7 Dell desktop computer, which has started to have a little slower. At the opening of a USB key.

I noticed recently, I plugged the USB on my PC, has begun to open more slowly. One

I use the most is small 4 GB and I bought some time ago. So, I thought it was the USB key. I've seen

a 32 GB drive on sale for $13, so I bought it. But it wasn't the drive, because the new opens a little

slow as well. This really isn't a big deal, it's only a moment or two more. What would cause this?

I've owned 6 PCs, since I bought my first after that Win 95 came out. They've all got more slowly than

they aged.  My current PC is very fast, so as long as it does not get more slowly, it will not

be a problem. I think it's just something that happens on the PC as they age. I wonder why it is

the case?  But in general, I am very happy with this Dell desktop computer. It does not use so much power that the

2005 did. You can tell by the fact that it does not heat the room, as did the 2005. It is important to Florida.

My new PC is also much lighter in weight and a lot faster. PC is really improved over time.

    Hi Doug FL.

One suggestion would be to go to downloads and look for an updated driver chipset.

In general, the PCs slow down over time because of all the waste that accumulates on them. A lot of people a re - install the Dell factory image after a few years to solve this problem. It doesn't take long, but it requires that you back up all your files and then reinstall applications once you have finished.

  • Dell desktop computer just ran scan & system - failure of the card mother how fix this?

Hi, I have a Dell desktop computer that came with an Epson printer & all the other necessary things: keyboard, mouse, speakers, & flat screen.  I bought it in 2009.  I'm on social security, so I can't afford to buy a warranty with Dell, which missed.  My system works fine.  Dell offers, free of charge, a scan to check the memory card mother and other issues.  I do the scan every month.   It was record past in all categories.

However, I just did a scan on July 6, 2013 and the analysis of response of the system said failure in red.  Then he said: 'mother' I know refers to the hard drive.  I am over 65 and fairly low tech & live alone.  However, I am pretty savvy, computer or as much as I can be.

I checked the help MSN menu, but could not follow him.  This is why I post my question on the MSN Community forum, which helped me with other problems in the past.  I have also just posted on the Dell forums.  I have MSN as my homepage & use IE 9, it works best for me.  The only email I have is on AOL and I've been there for years without any problem.

I have Verizon FIOS; If I can't get an idea of how this problem on the forums (in fact, I prefer MSN forums) I'll call them.  They offer free advice by telephone.  If necessary, they will come to my apartment to check my system & require a rate SIGNIFICANTLY lower than the Geek Squad.

However, I did not do anything to the system.  I have update printer drivers, since the printer has suddenly stopped working when I replaced the cartridges.  I don't think that this should be a problem.  I replaced the cartridges before.  I have an Epson Stylus NX110 printer/scanner/copier & called Epson, they SUCK.  The printer comes with the computer.  I have installed new drivers & the printer works fine.  I do not have a wireless system, & I don't have a digital camera.  The only other conflict can be I have two Microsoft Security Essentials AND free AVG downloaded as my anti-virus, anti-spyware.

I know that the new drivers, I installed the printer were great, it was an update of Epson which I figured out.  I as well need the computer & printer. I am disabled & only at home much & this is my link with the outside world.  I do a little writing & letters print & printing (Yes, postal mail) to friends & also letters to additional government assistance of my State & County.  I appreciate all the advice and I'm sorry it's so long.

One last thing: I keep getting pop-ups from this survey company called five votes.  I have tried everything to remove them, but they reappear.  I do not take surveys & I get rid of pop-ups.  I have my Blocker on MSN and AOL.  Could these pop-ups have corrupted my hard drive? I've been doing them for months, it is very likely.

    Thank you, Karen

First of all - the 'motherboard' does not mean 'hard drive '.  This means that the "mother".  :-)  The drive is the storage processors is the brain and everything connects through... the "mother".

Second - why sweep you all the months?  Unless you are having a problem - well - I suggest you not to do so.  Heck - you may see a false positive.  Do you have any indication that you have a hardware failure?

    Here's what I suggest:
    (1) stop the execution of this "free scan of Dell.
    (2) ensure that the drivers of motherboard, video card, network device and peripheral chipset audio are later you can get - on the Dell site for your specific Service and operating system combination label (drivers and downloads section, use your service number and put in the operating system you are using.)
    (3) never use Geek Squad.
    (4) what is the "MSN Help Menu?
    (5) choose AN antivirus software - two is misguided and may cause problems.
    (6) run some scans of malware with the details, I will give you right after that...

Regarding AntiVirus - free are very good: Avira, AVG, Avast, UnThreat

You could spend ~ 60USD during two years of eSET NOD32 AntiVirus (not more - just product AntiVirus) and which would be more worthwhile.

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner. Remove everything it finds.

    Reset.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

For the printer - you have downloaded and installed the form here?

  • Problem with an old Dell desktop computer

Hey guys :) first post here! Happy to be part of the community!

My father has so some of these old Dell desktops at work that were purchased second-hand and some of them don't work at all. I was asked to provide assistance and we managed to get most of them and running outside.

Long story short - when you plug the power cable into the PC, the fan runs for a very short time and the power light flashes green light after that the computer is ready to go.

The problem with this particular computer is that when you plug the power on the computer the CPU fan starts to spin and power light blinks with a light orange and never stops. By pressing the power button has no effect. The power supply of the computer has been replaced, but the same problem persists (the power supply works normally on other computers). All the problematic capacitors have been replaced on the motherboard (which fixed this issue with other computers) but this has still not had any effect.

The computer has been tested with its minimum parts bare, stripped of all readers of storage, RAM and anything else, but is still unable to boot to the BIOS or do anything.

My question is - is this a known problem and what measures would be a good thing to determine the cause of the problem?

Unfortunately, I do not know the exact model of the computer, but I have some pictures of what you can find here:

Feel free to ask for additional information if required.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello

I bought a Dell repairman authorized Microsoft Office redecorated.

Windows 7 pro came pre-installed and no discs were included.

I need to re - install windows 7 on the desktop and use windows 7 pro refurb pcs key on the sticker.

What is the right ISO file to use?

    Thank you!

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

  • Impossible to reinstall PSE9 on the new Dell desktop computer

Bought a new Dell Inspiron 660 desktop in August, unfortunately the factory preloaded PES 9 did not work.  So, I advanced and uninstalled and use the software provided with the computer to reinstall, but discovered that the software disc was not at all helping. Then, I try to download on Adobe.com to get a copy of PSE9 and use the S/N on the jacket of the book software disc to record, but PSE9 was not available and settle for PES 11 instead, after completing the download, I tried to use PSE9 S/N, but nothing helped.

Could someone out there please help me solve the problem.

    Thank you!

P.S. have you tried Dell, but they don't help us any.

The serial number of PSE9 will not work in PSE11. Serial numbers must be for the appropriate version.

You can download the demo version of PSE9 http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-9-premiere-elements-9-direct-download-links.h tml

Make sure you follow the very important Instructions on this page before you click on the download links or the links will not work.

  • Cards - Windows 7, Dell Mini computer laptop network

I'm having a problem with my printer Canon MG6120 wireless constantly shows offline and will not print.  In doing so, I noticed a yellow exclamation mark shown on my Dell computer icon. He said that I needed troubleshooting so I opened the store. After analysis and research, he said that he could not find the device adapter drivers Microsoft ISATAP #2 and Microsoft Teredo Tunneling adapter.  Then, I opened the Device Manager and find the cards below were the exclamation point. I tried to update each individually, and all indicated that they were up to date.  Should I just ignore the exclamation points?

    Microsoft ADAPTER 6-4

    Microsoft 6 to 4 ADAPTER #2

    Microsoft ISATAP ADAPTER

    Microsoft ISATAP ADAPT #2

    Microsoft ISATAP ADAPT #3

    Microsoft ISATAP ADAPTER #4

    Microsoft ISATAP ADAPTER #5

    Microsoft ISATAP ADAPTER #6

    Microsoft TEREDO TUNNELING ADAPTER

    Lillian

Update does not work.  Often the drivers become corrupt.  You can and should uninstall everything above except the first 6to4, ISATAP pilots.  Tunneling should be removed because I suspect that it is in this case.  You will need to re - install tunneling like this

It is a known problem if you have Zone alarm installed.  If you have installed remove it at least to check

To disable Teredo tunneling 6to4 interface open an elevated command prompt and type

netsh interface set terredo disabled state.
    To re - install
    1. Click on start.
    2. Type Device Manager in the start search box, and then open it.
    3. Click the Action tab on top and click Add legacy hardware
then click next and next again, he will then scan and find nothing then click on the screen after that.
Wait a minute and you will see a list of devices appear, scroll and select network adapters and click Next, then in the left column choose Microsoft then in the right hand column scroll down and choose Microsoft Teredo Tunneling adapter, and then click Next and it will install it.
To check simply do as it is set to show hidden devices right click on the Device Manager right click view, then show hidden devices.
If there is no option "Add Hardware inherited", you need to connect the unit using the tunneling.
