  • Can't get the driver for 32-bit windows 7 HP DeskJet 5440 via windows update.

    Original title: driver HP DeskJet 5440 windows 7 32 bit

    I was unable to get the driver for 32-bit windows 7 HP DeskJet 5440 via windows update.  I also was unbale to find your compatibility Center.  Is there a link were I can down-load the driver directly from.

    Tony,

    In fact, I assumed that yours was always supported by HP * but I understand now that it's not [so I guess that it is more than 10 years because it is their general support period].  {* Mine is a DJ 2540 and is only a few years so I thought a 5440 DJ must be more recent}

    I see that HP gives you general instructions on installing drivers in http://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-deskjet-5440-printer-series/445466/model/445467/document/c01796879/ I checked Microsoft update catalog service and nothing found for HP Deskjet 5440, that's why you're not having any success with the generic instructions, giving you these instructions seem to presuppose the existence of a Windows driver for this specific model.  {HP must have given up your specific model before that this catalogue has been compiled, because hardware manufacturers are those that connect to their drivers inside}

    However, my suggestions may solve your problem or maybe not.  They are simply the steps that seem more likely to be successful.  Personally, I'd a system image before you try each of these suggestions so that you can go back to square one if something goes terribly wrong.

    Suggestion 1 - go to the devices & Printers dialog box, click Add a printer, select HP then select HP Deskjet 5400 series [the sequence in the list is awkward, this entry is about 10% of the way to the bottom of the list], click on Next and follow the procedure of menus at its conclusion.  Even if it's completely successful, plan to run my Suggestion 4 below as well in case of future need.

    Suggestion 2 - out whatever the driver that shipped with your printer in the first place, try to install in compatibility mode [right click on its executable, click on the tab compatibility , the value of the check box for run this program in compatibility mode for... and select a BONE the printer worked correctly with.]  Then go to the executable, right-click and select run as administrator.  This idea is not frivolous, until he blew something internally, I was using my 1999/2000 HP Deskjet 1220C successfully on Windows 7 x 64 for four years [despite the HP user forums which implies that this was not possible].

    Suggestion 3 - go back to the HP site to http://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-deskjet-5440-printer-series/445466/model/445467 but select 10 Windows as your operating system.  In the results, the Diagnostics Utility Tools point contains now a setup generic [hppiw.exe] who described "HP for Windows printer setup wizard was created to help users Windows 10 download and install the software solution most appropriate for their printer and newer HP HP Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1.   Simply run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions. " Download & run [run as Admin] of this file.

    Suggestion 4 - Connect to an Admin-level account first, then, using IE [there than IE], date back to the Microsoft update service catalog and search for HP Deskjet 5400 series.  It will give a lot of results, then click on the driver name in the left column of title to see details for each potential choice [especially if it is 32 or 64 bit].  The top of the list is [32-bit] Microsoft Update for HP Deskjet 5400 Series driver dated June 21, 2006.  [You might also download & file the second element, the 64-bit version, just in case you change computers in the future]  Add the chosen driver [s] to the "trash" then download - you will be asked to select a file to download first {it is at this stage that the process would be a break without further explanation or any error if you had not been connected to an Admin-level account before launching IE}.  I think that these drivers also work with Windows 10 thus, in the hope that your printer works for the years to come, it would be well worth your copies of maintenance of them filed there ready for your next computer use.

    Proposal 5 - go [back] to the forums of user HP Deskjets & find 5440.  See if any of the other suggestions can help you - unless you have already looked through them all the more relevant [I realize that you have been here once already as one of the threads that I just watched was of you].

    We know, in advance, which of these suggestions will lead to the best possible solution.  So please come back to this forum to explain what happened when you tried the.  Your experiences will benefit all users of HP Deskjet 5440 who come here looking for advice.

    Good luck

    ====================================================

    What I have not said in my question, it is that I welcomed the HP Support Assistant help with installing the driver. The installation has started and then fell in a heap. He seemed to gather a set of diagnosics and send it's out of HP and that was the last I heard. I don't know what caused what. HPSA maybe even helped to reduce collateral damage, I don't know, but what I know is that between HP and Microsoft...

    NOBODY TOLD ME THAT INSTALLING WINDOWS 10 COULD STOP MY PRINTER WORKS...!

    And installation has been fairly stable at best. At worst, it was a traumatic experience because of my PC to my work...

    So this morning I decided to try again and began the installation of the printer driver entirely embodied by choosing down, load the file only without the help of HPSA.

    When the installation began, I discovered that apps in fully embodied installation could be deselected (I did with joy... ).

    From there the wireless installation proceeded easily according to the driver installation only Win7...

    Ahhhh... happiness... :-)

  • Support for 64-bit driver for Windows 7 for Deskjet 6540 and Colorsmart D5360

    Or 64-bit Windows 7 drivers for the Deskjet 6540 nor the Photosmart 5360 supports the maintenance function is now impossible to clean the print heads. Two of these printers worked fine when they were connected to my XP machine. At HP dumbed down these drivers? Is there a separate program or sequence of façade which will do that for one of these printers?

    Thank you

    I do not know the D5630, but for the Deskjet 6540 you can do a cycle of cleaning of the façade, as follows: turn on the printer.  Press in and hold the power button, then press the Cancel (X) button twice, then release the power button.

    Note that it rare to * never * need to perform a cleaning on the HP cartridges cycle, it would be unusual to the same need forced into the life of the cleaning cartridge.  Perform unnecessary cleaning cycles will use ink and shorten the life of the printer.

  • Windows 7 and Deskjet 895cxi drivers

    I just installrd Windows 7 (64-bit) and can't get my HP 895cxi printer at work. It is supposed to be compatible. I think I downloaded a driver for 895cxesomehow. I removed the device from my computer several times, but when I plug in the USB slot, it is confused with a cxe. When I try to print I get always a printing error. I tried to download the right driver from the HP site and get a message that the driver is to download, but never have evidence she managed to my computer and the printer still does not print. How can I remove the cxe driver, getting correctly identified my printer and download the right driver?

    Deskjet 895Cxi 895Cxe are the same printer model, they were just provided through various sales channels.  The driver is the same.  Are which driver you trying to download?  There is no downloadable Windows 7 driver for the Deskjet 895 series on the HP site, there are only instructions for the installation of the drivers available through Windows Update.

    What is the error message you get when you try to print?

  • Windows 7 and Deskjet printer 722C

    I tried to install my office 722 C on my Windows 7 32-bit system.  Windows has detected the hardware & after you download the driver, said "your device is ready to use.  However, he said also "no installed printer.  Could not print because there is no printer listed.  Tried added my printer, but it was not on the drop-down list.

    Tried using 720 C series HP's CD to install the printer, but there was only LPT1-3 listed as choices, no USB port.

    I currently use this printer on an XP with a cable converter USB / parallel that I bought in 2008.   The cable would be the issue?

    On the HP website, it says that my printer is supported in Windows 7.  Needless to say I want to buy a new printer.

    I don't know what to do.

    Only, I have solved my problem.  I saw on a forum when you use Windows 7's "add a printer", there is the possibility of a more extended list of printers to choose from (with Windows Update).  I tried & the expanded list did not have my model 722C, but not 720C, I use the same driver.  So I chose 720C & the printer has been installed successfully on my new Windows 7 system.  And it even prints!

    Yes!

    Thanks HP for your forums.

  • DeskJet 930c: print project with Windows 8.1

    My Toshiba laptop has recently been reimagee and Windows 7 upgrade to 8.1 Windows

    I want to print copies of the draft of this computer Word documents with my HP Deskjet 930 C printer.

    It's an important option in Windows 7, save a lot of time and ink.

    However, in the print controls Windows 8.1, there seems to be no option to print copies of the draft. What can I do?

    Hey @snailsensei,

    Welcome to the HP forums!

    I understand that you have some problems finding the project settings for your Deskjet 930c in point 8.1 of Windows. I can help with that.

    Firstly, this document will describe How to find and install drivers pre-built point 8.1 of Windows. This done we will check the print from Wordpad settings. To do:

    (1) open Wordpad.

    (2) open your print by clicking on the files and print window.

    (3) in this window, select your Deskjet 930c and click on Preferences.

    (4) in this new window, click on paper/quality.

    (5) according to the quality, select the project, and click Ok.

    If you are able to print in draft mode in Wordpad, then we try to print from Word. If the same Word printing options do not appear in Word then Microsoft has modified some settings and you need to contact Microsoft for support.

    I hope this helps you with your project settings and I hope you have a wonderful evening!

    If this resolve that your problem then please let others know by clicing on accept as Solution on my post.

    If you appreciate my help please click on thumbs up below my post.
