Windows xp pro-demarrage / all programs - how to organize

When I open all programs menu start the programs listed as they were loaded, and I want to see them in alphabetical order. How can I do this?

Hello

Here's how you can accomplish this:
a. click on "Start", then "programs".
b. right click on any entry in the "Programs" menu
c. choose "sort by name".

I hope this helps.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

  • 4gig RAM installed on ABIT, card mother VT7. BIOS sees all 4Gig, Windows XP Pro sees 3Gig. How to fix?

Contributed the most of RAM on my motherboard ABIT VT7.  BIOS sees all 4Gig.  Windows XP Pro \Control Panel \System \General sees only 3Gig of it.  It's ALL available and all simply not shown or is for XP 4Gig limit mess with things?

Windows XP Pro is a 32-bit operating system and can't see anymore than 3 (a little) GB of RAM. I'm stating a little is because the General system hardware (e.g. edge, videos, etc.) uses little RAM, and this number varies.

So to use more than 3 GB of RAM, you need a 64-bit operating system. If you do not at least 8 GB, it is simply not worth the hassle with the lost devices because of 64-bit drivers do not exist or software that will simply run in a 64-bit operating system

Use this tutorial which is to restore the file type associations so that the desktop shortcut or icon will open the correct program.

You will not be able to keep your programs, but you can use the disk recovery for re - install windows. Just choose to install windows instead of repair. In addition, I seriously doubt if you have deleted something important enough to completely change Windows. SFP (protection of system files) you can permanently remove critical system files. In any cause, a new installation may be just what you need. I re - install Windows every 90 to 120 days or not. Maintains good pc.

    Hi Akhilnath,

This problem may occur because of corrupted system files.

Did you the latest changes on the computer before this problem?

    Method 1:

I would suggest to run the auditor of file system (CFS), parse and check if it helps.

SFC scan will scan system files corrupted on your computer.

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 2:
If the problem occurred recently, I suggest to perform the system restore and check if it helps.

    See the link.

    What is system restore?
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-is-system-restore

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

  • Where should I go in Windows 7 to find all programs, files that I have on my machine?

I use to be able to find them on XP. Don't know where to go in Windows 7.

Usually, you can access your program via the Start Menu. When they are actually stored (i.e. the directory) will depend on the program and possibly where you want to install. If you have Windows 7 32 - Bit, you will find a good number of them in C:\Program Files\ . However, if you have Windows 7 64 bit, they can be in one of the two of these files C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x 86) \ where the old one is for 64-bit programs and the last is for 32 - Bit upper air.

Somewhere else, you will find programs is C:\Windows\System32\ (and C:\Windows\SysWoW64\ if you have Windows 7 64-Bit). Among loads of other things, you will find the executable files for things like Paint (MSPaint.exe) and the tool captures (SnippingTool.exe) here. They are very important files system so Don ' t mess here unless you know what you're doing.

The foregoing is not in the list.

With regard to the personal data files (documents, videos, photos, music, etc.), it should be kept in the libraries. Here's a simple way to keep these files organized and separated from the system and program files. For more information about libraries, see:

  • How will I know if my new laptop has Windows 8 Pro

I bought two Dell systems.  One was the M6700 I knew had top Windows 8 Pro and I installed Media Center with the Microsoft product key sent to me.  I went back to the system due to SIGNIFICANT and costly Pro Tech support.  After 26 days, they refused to fix the screen would dim every 3 minutes, saying: "if he wasn't a yellow bang in Device Manager it was not their problem.  The last day, I accidentally found a Dell program that controlled the graphic setting called color Dell Premier.  I decided to go back to the workstation even though it was a great system.  I didn't look forward to 3 years technical support useless and frustrating to a value of $350.

A month later, I bought an Alienware technical support personnel system is so much better.  I worked with them for years and never had the problems I had with the support of Corp.

Since it has been a month and I had just finished a factory on the M6700 system restore, I felt that I would have been able to use the product key for the Media Center.  However after working with a Microsoft Tech today for an hour. He seemed to feel that the Media Center button would not work on this system for two possible reasons. 1. what it cannot be Pro Windows 8 or 2. The key somehow was not removed from the M6700 after the factory restore.

So before having any contact with Pro support, I would like to know how I can tell if this system or does not have Windows 8 Pro.  I don't remember if the Windows 8 Pro showed in the system information report.  Or if she could be considered under control panel - system.  I tried to run the update on the upgrade assessment and who has failed for some reason, saying: it was not available in my country.  What is the United States.  It seems that the system is configured for which English is the language.  Given that I didn't get through a full installation of Windows as if I installed the program as you would if it was Windows 7 system comes through a Microsoft Agreement which I checked and then configure the network online and I logged on.  I was not even given the opportunity to choose the name of system I need to change.

I'm a little lost at this stage to say the least.  If Microsoft technology could not tell if it is Windows 8 Pro, do not want to assume that the OEM support would be.

I have the disc that came with the M6700 and I it matched with the disc that came with this system.  Both drives have the same part number and both claim it's for Windows 8 Recovery Media for Windows 8 products.

So it is a Question of two parts:

    1. How will I know if I have installed Windows 8 Pro &

    2. How can I get my product key Media Center back?

    Thank you for your support.

    Frances

  • How to pass windows 7 Home premium 32-bit to windows 8 pro 64-bit

I have just ordered pre Windows 8 pro which is 32/64 bit. I am running Windows 7 home premium 32-bit and want to upgrad to windows 8 pro 64 bit.

Do I need an another full OEM 64 bit version or upgrad version will do?  Thank you.

Your documents and it will be in the Windows.old folder, but all programs that you have installed will be gone. Going from 32-bit to 64-bit is a clean install and all programs that you all will need to be reinstalled.

It would be wise to save all documents, photos, music, and anything else that you do not want to lose before doing the installation.

  • My computer with Windows 7 Home updated for Firefox v34.0.5 but my two computers that are running Windows 7 Pro have not yet updated beyond Firefox v34.0. Something wrong?

See info above. I re - run the update process at least 10 times on the two machines running Windows 7 Pro (most recently this morning), and whenever the two machines running Windows 7 Pro (one is 64-bit, one is 32-bit) say that Firefox v34.0 is "up-to-date". I checked Mozilla.org, which States that Firefox v34.0.5 was released in mid-December, but he said nothing about whether this update was only for some OSs. I also ran several scans antivirus from different vendors on two machines running Windows 7 Pro and all scans show no problems.

Please advise is there are different versions of Firefox for Windows 7 family or Professional Edition, or if I'm having a problem. If I'm having a problem, please tell us how I can correct.

We changed how updates were deployed to a test, that's why you were probably the 34.0.5 on a computer and 34.0.0 on the other. The only difference between them is that 34.0.5 defines yahoo as the default search. You don't need to worry because of the different versions (who both were released at the same time BTW)
