  • Satellite A30, Win XP Pro SP3 - modem does not work

Another problem with this laptop Satellite A30
The built-in modem does not work.

    * Explanation: *.
The driver is correct and downloaded from the Toshiba support site.
The modem is identified as "Toshiba software modem amr" and is installed on com3 port.

When I click on "diagnosis" and "ask modem" (right labels can be different, since my is an Italian win xp, I just translated the Italian labels), a window pops up saying: it is impossible to open the door (port), the modem is connected to.

I tried to change the com port of the modem to different numbers, but the problem is the same.
I don't know if the modem is a real map connected somehow to the main Board or is built right on the main map. It would be the first case, I may change see ad. BTW, the mini slot pci is already occupied by the gigabyte of Wi - Fi, so the modem must be elsewhere.

This is strange, since I've done at least 2 other win xp pro on this machine facilities, always download and install the appropriate drivers, and the modem has never worked.
    Thank you

  • My Windows 8 Pro product key does not work to activate my copy of Windows 8 Pro

My work of Windows 8 product key is not

Step 1: Yesterday I bought a new hard drive clean Virgin and I bought Windows 8 Pro at a local big-box store. It is a complete copy. Not an upgrade.

Step 2: I removed all the other my system HARD drives and installed Windows 8 on the new hard drive. The system asked product key. I went in and everything installed perfectly. Windows works fine. I like it.

Step 3 However, when I went to 'activate' my copy of Windows 8 and I enter this SAME product key, that I used to install I get the following message "this key did not work. Check it out and try again, or try a different key. "I repeated this step at least 4 different times after the reboot. Still does not accept it.

Question: I can not activate my new copy of Windows 8. How can he accept my key for installation and then NOT accept for activation?

    Help!

    JWM

    The problem was solved!

Step 1: I called Microsoft support MICRSOFT (800)

Step 2: I navigate through all voice menus for installation tech Support for Windows 8

Step 3: I explained the problem to the technology (Jerry)

Step 4: The tech had me find the search function and he get a function of 4 letters (I forgot the command). I executed the function, and I got to a screen that asked me to enter a code for the Microsoft Technical Professional. I entered the 8 digit code that the tech provided for me.

Step 5: I get to a new screen and technology (Jerry) explains that I am turned on.

Step 6: I restart my PC and I go to the 'System' page in the control panel and it shows that my copy of Windows 8 is activated!

The Tech explained that my copy of windows is an "upgrade" version (it isn't) and that is why I got the sentence. I explained repeatedly that it was a COMPLETE copy.  Finally, I dropped my 8 Windows has been activated.

Call the technical support and good luck!

  • After installing windows XP Pro my computer does not start correctly

After you have installed Windows XP Pro on my HP Pavilion (updated to XP home), my computer will not end the restart process.  I have repeatedly in a loop once the blue screen with the HP logo.  When this has happened before after installing a pack of updates for XP Home, we just started in safe mode and then had it will restart at an earlier time, thus eliminating the updates.  However, now when I try to start in safe mode, I get an error message that says: "Windows Setup cannot start in safe mode" and I leave safe mode.  We hoped that by installing Windows XP Pro, this problem should go away.  Can anyone help?  I have read several other entries in the forum for similar problems, but they all have to do with updates.  This is the first time I was not able to use safe mode, so now I'm stuck.  I hope that I can avoid having to perform a full system recovery, since it is a long involved process and having once before, I always felt the same restart problems after installing updates.

Thank you for help... After reading several posts in the forum, one of them reminded people to check with the manufacturer of the computer so that possible solutions... and this is the solution here, I wish I thought of him earlier... I did a system recovery to remove the Windows HP Pro and return to the original version of the default value.  Then I went to the HP site and downloaded the patch according to their directions.  Problems fixed! :-)

  • Help check out MGADiag, bought the new retail version of Windows 7 Pro, but he does not accept the activation key.

    Hello

I just build a new complete PC and decides to get Windows 7 Pro for it. It cost me £179 on amazon from a seller who has good reviews.

All looks well and many of such security features mentioned on this site:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/software.aspx#packaging

Are in place (change holograms that you change the view, etc.). However when I enter the product key, I get this message:

    "Code:

    0xC004C008

    Description:

The activation server determined that the specified product key cannot be used. »

I tried to go there several times, checking the caps lock etc.. The version says ' origin: Ireland ' on the insignia case of authenticity and the seller told me that before I bought it and it would work as a version of the United Kingdom's retail. The additional complication is I am currently based in France (where I tried to activate it since), but as an English speaker needed an English language version of Windows.

I have run the MGADiag.exe and this is the output:

I so I spent £179 on a version false? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Zak

A little update just for your information. 2 days and 5 calls later (I needed to technical management, through the population of Activation - no direct number so sometimes the transferred call didn't work!) I now have a version of Windows active :) work

However the question turns out to be that my legitimate version (package and all disks of good mine) and it's legitimate keys used did not match exactly.

The unused key was for a version of Windows 7 Edition product update Home Premium to Windows 7 Pro, so that's why it did not work on the new facility I was trying.

I contacted the seller amazon to let them know about this problem as it is possible that there is a lot that is perhaps not entirely legitimate.

Once again thanks to the MVP here and people I talked on the phone before this is resolved, I suspect that this could become a problem growing with Windows 7, as people are not super keen on 8 and 7 is a solid BONE with a little support left? So even if you pay a rate of 'good' for your Windows 7 disks, be aware that you can not get exactly what you expected, and maybe it would be nice if MS has always sold direct to counter this kind of question?

Thanks again to both for your advice, MVP

    Yours sincerely,

    Zak.

  • Windows 8 Pro product key does not work

I get this error message: "this product key has not worked. Please check it and try again"

Just bought the Windows 8 Pro in Windows 7 home premium upgrade.  Fresh installed from a USB...

Got mine sorted... I called customer service... you guys can check it out here for your countries respective http://support.microsoft.com/gp/customer-service-phone-numbers

So yes... to explain the situation, they will provide you with this diagnostic package... click on the package, reset your comp... and you should be able to activate your shiny new operating system... they were quick to fix my problem... Bravo to them... hope it helps = D
Method for those who don't want phone customer service:
Your key is a unique key for update... meaning that it will not allow a new installation... unless you do the workaround of Windows 7 registry.

You must open a run dialog box and type: "Regedit".
    Then I located this key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Setup/OOBE /.
    And find one called "MediaBootInstall.
    Double-click that and change a 1 to 0.
    Then open cmd as administrator
    Type the command "slmgr /rearm.
You will get a restart of your computer messge.
    Restart
Then when you restart your computer, you open a dialog box run again and type "slui.exe 3" and it will allow you to enter your product key and activate :)
  • I have a dell latitude 610 laptop that I had to wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows xp pro and it does not have all the internet apps

When I reinstalled win xp pro it didn't install any help net drivers that I can't get on internet

If you cannot access to the use of the internet, another computer and save the driver on a CD/DVD/card reader.

    Download network drivers for Internet

Visit the manufacturer's Web site and select your model (this is usually done in the Support section). You should be able to download drivers for your model if they have drivers for your version of Windows. Download the driver and then follow the instructions to install.

  • Windows 7 Pro x 64 does not detect HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor (accelerometer)

    Hello.

I installed win7pro x 64 yesterday and already fallen on a serious problem, which is how I use the laptop a little dangerous for my valuable data.

When I was working on HP Vista 32 bit (of the partition recovery etc.) brand, it was a device called the HP Mobile Data Protection with HP ProtectSmart software sensor (or protect Smart). In other words, the accelerometer HDD which parks the HARD drive heads when it "feels" it is down or something and the software for it. It has worked flawlessly.

Until I decided to install Win7... And then, surprisingly, after failure of driver install and take a look in the Device Manager, I have noticed that there is no such device. I checked three times, looked at property of each device, even reinstalled Vista 32bits back - he has shown again - and installed Win7 - not detected again. There is nothing that has the HPQ004 device ID! I remember people saying that after that fresh Windows installed, there are 6 unknown devices or more. I got only 5. [Device fingerprinting, 3 x MemCard player and IR receiver]. There is no accelerometer... Also, when I try to install the drivers/software, windows appears:

ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection: with the text Property.AccelerometerNotPresent

and then another saying something like features were not installed due to wrong installation or not supported feature.

So now I'm stuck with a laptop it is dangerous to travel with, because the disk is no longer protected

I have already installed all the drivers available on the HP page, even downloaded those newer Intel (chipset) etc.

Is there a solution to this? Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Windows 7 is officially released and available in RTM version, not beta, so I think that HP should open support in his favor and release new drivers for win7! And above all, to solve this problem...

If anyone is interested, this problem is solved now.

Just download the new drivers from http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en & cc = us & prodTypeId = 321957 & prodSeriesId = 3744188 & swItem = ob-76187-1 & mode = 4 & idx = 2, install and make sure you have the latest version of the BIOS. Tested - heads are being finally parked! Yay!

  • Windows xp pro sp3 can not get updates - don't stop to check updates and nothing happens.

For the past 2 weeks I can't get windows on windows xp pro sp3 updates. The green bar that runs while the verification of updates just keeps running and running and does'nt stop until I have stop. No error codes at all.
Run the fix it tool and indicates "registration for the service is missing or corrupted" and it offers a solution for the problem of the does'nt.
What is the reference for this?

I had the same problem and you will spend one day trying many suggestions, including various Microsoft Fix - its, which none worked, and which some worse messing with the BITs service (that I then had to restore, losing even more time).

In the end, I found that the problem was related to the update of Cumulative security for Internet Explorer 8. There is a kind of incompatibility with previous versions of this update that causes IE stuck when he tries to check the updates.

The solution for me was to download and install the * last * IE Cumulative Security Update * manually * before you try to run Windows Update to get the other patches. Here's how:

    (1) using the Internet Explorer, I visited the current MS security bulletin page

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin

    (2) from there, I went to the latest summary (November 2013) and found the update of IE at the top of the list: "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (2888505).

    (3) I couldn't see direct links for just this update, so I copied the number of the Knowledge Base - 2888505 - and google for "Download KB2888505" (Bing didn't work by the way). This gave me the direct download link:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=41074

    (4) I have downloaded and run the update installer and then restarted (as required by the software update).

Microsoft/Windows Update restart worked. I repeated the same process on a second computer with the same problem and it worked also.

  • Windows XP Pro SP3, OEM in Dell D600 "not responding" on every article, every time, all the windows

My DELL D600 has OEM Windows XP Pro SP3, and netframeworks all or almost suddenly started not ANSWER DO NOT each time. I don't know what went wrong, it's driving me crazy. I can't afford to upgrade.

I tried the fixit from Microsoft online, no luck.

I uninstalled a few programs, perhaps thinking it's too full. Still no luck.

Whenever I use any folder window, or any element of the queue at all, the same thing happens, every time. "Not responding" delays on the window or the desktop contains the item. Must hit Ctl + Alt + Delete at least twice, if not 3 - 4 times.  Each 'entry' lasts for a number of at least 26 and often much longer.  Basically, Windows is not very functional.

I have two OEM for Dell, not sure that I put here (I was wondering if I should repair-installation Windows), but worried to destroy my Office Server installations that have 3 WordPress developments.  I can't afford to destroy the.

Any ideas to FIX this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Good, minor success.

The returned quickly file number, but a re - check with Roguefix showed, it was not clear, no change in System.

I therefore decided to start uninstalling things, hoping to uninstall accidentally the culprit.

First I stripped all the netframeworks and the SPs.  Has failed, file number remained.

I then started to uninstall programs. After uninstalling programs a half-dozen, suddenly THE FILES ARE WORKING AGAIN!  Don't ask me why.

Then, I rebuilt my netframeworks and SPs.

Then, I clicked to access Microsoft Updater to get up to speed.

IT WILL NOT BE UPDATED.  Failed! is what I get.  It says the software needed TO be updated is not in my HD and offer a download. When I try to download and install failed!  It will be not even installed that.

This goes back to the same "cause" - for reasons unknown the last 4-6 weeks, installing any updates in my DELL D600 Windows XP Pro OEM.  Initially, they install.  Then begins the phase were some updates installed, others down without reason.

Then, no updates would be installed.  That was BEFORE I plucked executives trying to solve the issue of records.

It is not even asking me to install the real test happened before, I think that.  I think it was in August 2013 or almost.

I'm desperate to get the updates, if you have an idea on how to help me.

    Thank you.

  • Windows xp pro sp3 will not start corrupted boot.ini and hal.dll - please help

I installed Norton 360 offred via internet was last updated.  It immediately launched all applications previously disabled at STARTUP in msconfig.  And shortly after he started to gives me the blue screen "to the death".  This done in two days, and I was desperately trying to solve the problem by turning off almost all applications critical to running Windows XP Pro SP3, Norton and Office 2007 Home and student.  I even went and tried to edit the Boot.ini file in startup and recovery under the Advanced tab in the workstation properties.  Now all I get is an error message Windows cannot start because the hal.dll file is missing or damaged.  I replaced it by copying a modified version of the boot sequence, while the hard drive of my laptop was enslaved to my desktp PC, but nothing helped.  I can't even the Recovery Console to start on my laptop.  I need HELP, please.

These profile errors are usually caused by one of the following:

1-profile corruption.  The user profile is damaged and that Windows cannot load.  To resolve this issue, create a new user profile and move your files to the new profile.   See here for more information:

How to copy data from a corrupted to a new profile in Windows XP user profile

2 drives or corruption of the file system.  Run chkdks /f on the volume C:.  Please note that there is ALWAYS a risk of data loss when chkdsk is run on a volume, ideally, you should have a backup of your files before running chkdsk.

3 - virus or malware activity.  Some of these parasites can revoke your permissions on the folder of your profile, check the permissions on "C:\Documents and Settings\Andre" and make sure you have a full control on the folder.  Check this box until you try #1 or 2 above.

Some of these parasites can also revoke your permissions in key areas of the registry and create real Dany on the machine that can prevent you to run some of your software.  Use Regedit to load your old profile hive (NTUSER. (DAT) in your profile folder (C:\Documents and Settings\Andre\NTUSER. (DAT) and make sure you have full control over the key.  In the advanced security settings to ensure that the child objects are inherit permissions from the parent and put a check mark on "replace entries permissions for all child objects...". "Click on apply and OK your way out.  See here for easy to follow instructions for loading and editing of remote registry hives: http://www.rwin.ch/xp-live/regedit.htm make sure you unload the hive when you're done, otherwise the changes will not be saved.

These parasites can also revoke permission on the other key of registry and system files, you can use SubInACL to restore your permissions on these key objects, see here for more information:
