Windows XP: Renew the IP address automatically.

Windows XP on a laptop.  I used to be able to put my computer to sleep, go to a meeting room Plug and wake the computer and I would like to get connected to the network.  Now, for some reason, I always fix the connection to the local network to get a new IP address.  Is it possible to do it automatically?

Try to wake the computer first, then plug into the network connection once the computer wakes. The computer should then see the passage without network to network and negotiate another IP.

JW

  • How to release/renew the IP address on the DMP

Is there a way to release or renew the IP address of the DMM on a unit deployed to the area? We have assigned a reserved IP address and I don't see any way to do this via the internal settings of the DMP - 4400G. The static value I'm afraid will require a hard reboot to the endpoint. Running V.5.4

    Thank you

    John

Hello, the following comments are NOT officially supported by Cisco TAC but can help in the fulfillment of what you need to do.  The operating system for Cisco for the DMP runs UDHCP.  Says there is a way to "Liberate" the DMP's current IP address.

Method correct procedure to a secondary IP address assignment is either statically configure the IP on the DMP and restart OR configure the DHCP scope to statically assign a specific IP address for the DMP, then restart. Of course, you would do this during a scheduled maintenance period and have someone on site just in case something goes wrong.

Thus, measures to "liberate" the question a DHCP discover on the DPM and IP config is as follows:

Note: If the TAC is not already activated, this will also require a restart to allow root access.

    * The first thing is to allow root access to the DPM.  Access the Admin Web DMP interface. Under the section of the Administration of the Web graphic button, select MANAGEMENT of DMP and "Enable Cisco TAC Troubleshoot Access" and click APPLY.  In the ACCOUNT of SERVICE of DMP section, set the TAC account, password and click on APPLY button.

    * A reboot is required to SAVE the changes above.  Select administration ECONOMY and RESTART of the DMP.  Click on the button SAVE, then RESTART button to restart the DMP.

    * Once the DMP has rebooted, you can check the changes to make sure ROOT access is enabled.

Go and browser HTTP, use the URL https:///show-tech

Search for "Root access" enabled and you should see something like:

    Access enabled root (0 = yes, 1 = No.): 0

    * After 'Root' access is enabled, you can SSH to the DPM as USER 'root '.  Login with the password of account TAC Service you have installed previously.

    * Change to/sbin directory and issue the command "deconfig udhcpc.

    Example of output:

    --------------

    DMP 4400 192.168.1.129 # udhcpc deconfig

    udhcpc (v1.7.2) started

    / sbin/ifconfig eth0 0.0.0.0

    Hi kattfenom,

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode with network and check if the problem persists.

A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

Step 2: If the problem does not persist in SafeMode with network, perform a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start, run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

    (e) when you are prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

  • When I updated to XP SP3 my wireless not able to connect. He doesn't have to renew the IP address.

My laptop is equipped with a Ralink RT2500 Wireless LAN card. SP2 works very well. The netgear wireless router is visible in service pack 3, but fails to establish contacts with the cable modem.

1 remove the entry from your router in the list of preferred networks

    • Open network connections
    • Right-click on the icon for your wireless adapter and select Properties
    • Click the "Wireless Networks" tab
    • Select your network from the list and click 'delete '.
    • OK your way out

    2. temporarily disable encryption on the router; can you connect with encryption disabled?

3 remove the entry again, re - activate the encryption (what kind of encryption do you use: WEP, WPA, WPA2?); You can connect now?

    4. download and install the latest driver.  If your wireless network adapter has been installed in the computer when you bought it, see the Web site of the manufacturer of the computer for the driver.  Otherwise, see: http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=1 (make sure you select the correct driver; there is one for an internal RT2500 (PCI) and the other for an external (USB) RT2500).

    5. when the driver has been installed, remove the entry from the list of preferred networks, reboot and attempt to connect.

    6. If messages pop - up, please report them in its entirety, without paraphrasing.

  • Cannot renew the IP (WPC54G card/Linksys Wireless Router)

I think that the Wireless 'hardware' (is that correct?) in my laptop came out because I could use my Linksys wireless router until I installed a Wireless Linksys WPC54G card if I used an ethernet cable to connect with.  If the card is installed and I am connected to my network, I have an excellent signal but no Internet connectivity. I did the command "ipconfig" and renewed my IP address, but it appears as 169.xxx.x.x. I can't renew the IP address of 192.xxx.x.x.

Does anyone know how to fix, or what is the problem?  I'm set up to ensure that the configuration of IP address automatically, so it has nothing to do with it.  Thank you.

First check the settings on your Linksys router wireless... Follow this link (this must be done on a computer/laptop wired)...

Once you know the SSID and the network/WEP/WPA key, then uninstall the adapter linksys and re - install...

Uninstall the Linksys software menu programs... Re - install drivers insert the CD of Linksys install in your CD-ROM drive, when the welcome is displayed click on exit, connect your USB adapter now... When the Hardware Update Wizard window appears, click on install the software automatically (recommended) and then click Next.

NOTE: The hardware installation screen may appear indicating that the adapter has failed the Windows Logo test. Ignore the window and click on continue to continue the installation because the adapter has been tested and it works with Windows XP. When Windows has finished installing the driver, click on Finish.Goto Control Panel and double-click on network connections... Right click on wireless network connection, and then select view available wireless networks "-If you see your network wireless in the list, the highlight by clicking 'single' on it now, click on the 'Connect' button below-if your wireless network is secured, it asks you to provide the network key - provide the wireless network key and confirm again in the confirmation box and click 'Connect'." It should work...
