Windows XP - scheduled backups

Origihal title: Mr

I run a scheduled backup program which translates as two warnings due to access denied to both files. We're in a path ending par.../mailfrontier/reginfo.xml and the other is... \Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys\3ad391678a806ec4d691e83aaa393b6f_24adf822-76f7-4481-b30b-ff1b40f8687f.
1 are these required files?
2. How can I remove them in order to launch a 'clean' return to the top?

(many whites spaced edited - message has not been modified)

If you don't know what files are, they better leave it alone.  Period. The only way to get a "clean" copy of backup is to start by using a non-windows operating system and perform a backup while any Windows file is in use.  Any other backup will miss some files that are in use or not be backed up.

  • how much storage is required for a scheduled backup, if you already have your shadow system recorded in the storage device?

    Hello

I already asked this question but I am still confused! I have re-installed a W7-64 bit fresh in my desktop HP-computer, the first thing was to burn down an emergency start, the startup disk, and then stored a shadow/system image on a removable pocket of 160 G external support box. I have configured my monthly backups to be stored in this media storage device that shows almost 90Gs by flying over. But when the monthly AutoSave active, it stops, & I get a window saying my camera isn't big enough for a scheduled backup. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought that if you have a shadow of system stored in (an external device like mine). A new scheduled backup is just to refresh the system image w/all other file, program etc... Why do I need more 90Gs for whom? I can't afford an external backup storage, right up there:
    1. is it possible to store scheduled backups on my current internal C: drv? (I am aware of the risks). until I get no additional external storage?
    2. why, simply by making a return for which the OS is looking for new files, software etc... who need to maybe added or put to date him require more Gs to a full backup of the system?

  • Can I use my hardrive Office for scheduled backups?

    Hello

I am a bit confused about scheduled backups of my office. I installed an external media Pocket device that came w / my previous HP desktop to my new HP desktop. This unit has 160GBs & I used it to create a shadow of system which I understand is a copy of my entire W7 OS & all my personal files, photos, songs etc etc. I have also selected for my regular scheduled automatic backups.
I still have 60 GBs left after downloading my shadow system & various important personal documents. Now, I get an error message saying that this device has no storage sufficient for the scheduled backup of today. Therefore, I deleted everything except the last backup (not my shadow of system and personal files.) I checked help & it explains how minimize the amount of data in a backup, backup only some files have changed since the last backup. Remove all but the most recent backups. Now, I still have 60GBs free but get the same message that my storage device doesn't have enough free space left for the new backup.
Can't spend the scheduled backups to my main C: drive to my office? Since I have already a shadow system & a back along w / my personal files (which are only around 15-20GBs of this external device of 160GBs.) Because I've selected to back up only the changes made since the last backup, 60GBs should be more than enough to save the changes.

I understand the importance of having a shadow of the external system to the case where my hardrive takes a dump. But isn't my office normally store the backups scheduled in its main internal hardrive (1 to). Only, I use my desktop computer for personal use and don't really need to save all that changes since the initial backup. I'm not sure at this stage if 1. I can use an external device for backups. 2. do I really need to backup on a monthly basis? 3. can't select my internal office hardrive to store these backups?
Thank you Tech PC-savvy. are smile at my ignorance, which is fine, but seriously, it can get confusing to a novice like me.
But the search for knowledge is what these forums are all about right? :)

    Hello

Thanks for posting the request in the Microsoft community forums!
You can use the desktop for backup hard drive

We recommend that you back up your files on the hard disk that Windows is installed. Always store media used for backups (CD, DVD, or external hard drives) in a safe place in order to prevent unauthorized access to your files. You can also consider encrypting the data on your backup.

The restore time and unfortunately no option in the boot menu at startup to restore system from images. No menu advanced etc. I guess starting always remains at the level of the premium and does not provide "Windows complete PC Backup and Restore" restore options.

Grants menu of system restore points, with only the last good restore point and no option to select point of previous restoration or system image to restore from.

    Mmmm nice ideas...

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Complete PC Backup is designed for the reinstallation of the operating system that you have backed up.

You access it to start from a Vista DVD.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-complete-PC-Restore/

To restore a full backup of the computer, you must proceed within the Windows recovery environment. To access the Windows recovery environment, you will need to insert your Vista DVD in the DVD drive on your computer and turn on your computer.

    See you soon.

When you try to do a full up, I get the error msg "this disc cannot be used to store a picture Windows complete PC backup because it is not formatted with NTFS.  My OS is Windows Vista Ultimate Edition.

    What is NTFS?

What type of disc to I use to make a backup?

    Hi Heather_604,

There are two ways you can do: you can convert the external hard drive to NTFS, or you can format the external hard drive to NTFS.

Personally, I suggest that you format the external hard drive, but this will remove all data from the drive. Temporarily, you can copy what is on the hard drive on your C: drive if you have enough free space (or DVD) - once the external hard drive is formatted NTFS, you can copy everything back.

    Formatting disks and drives
     http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/formatting-disks-and-drives

Examine everything under view all. also check How can I add a new HDD? If Vista not recognize the external drive in see computer management - disk, the link create and format a hard disk partition management:

Create and format a hard disk partition
     http://Windows.Microsoft.com/fr-FR/Windows-Vista/create-and-format-a-hard-disk-partition

If you want to convert the external hard drive to NTFS, see the link in my original answer and:

Convert a FAT32 to NTFS disk in Windows Vista
     http://News.Softpedia.com/news/convert-a-FAT32-disk-to-NTFS-in-Windows-Vista-51792.shtml

(see r. v. White second after correction of typo in his post punch)
     http://Forum.Soft32.com/Windows/convert-external-hard-drive-NTFS-ftopict341077.html

If you convert the drive to NTFS, I always recommend that you copy the existing data, as I described for the formatting of the disk, just in case...

    Kind regards

  • Windows complete PC Backup and Restore for Vista Home Premium

I finally new PC my son all set up with Vista 64-bit Home Premium and installation is sublime.

But when I looked for a few floppy bootable installation complete I think I bought the wrong version of the program.

"Windows complete PC Backup and Restore" only comes with the Ultimate and Business edition.

Is it possible to add this functionality to my version of windows without switching completely to the Ultimate version?

No, you will need a third party app. Many people prefer Acronis True Image, but I lean toward a slightly more expensive, but a complete solution, with this app.

  • How to use the full Windows Vista Edition backup utility to create a backup of the computer of my computer on a network drive?

I can read and write in my Win7 computer I'm currently configured to run any server at home, I can watch TV, store files and folders individual, to create, remove, in other words all I can do on this machine, I can do. 3. to disks are mapped to this machine and show as readers y and z.

I had no problem establishing actions and everything seems to work.

However, when I try to do a full backup of a computer with network drives they don't show in the drive selection drop-down list in the center of complete backup of Windows. Arises in each drive on this machine, not the target readers when they are listed in my computer and do show and reconnect when I reboot the machines.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you:

    Don

    Hi Don,

You can follow these methods & check if it helps.

    Method 1

You can cancel the drive mapping & check if readers appear in the Windows complete PC Backup Center.

Disconnect your computer from a network or network drive

Reference: back up your programs, files and settings of the system,

    Method 2

In addition, you can also follow the suggestion of TexRyker on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 18:07 from this link.

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about the back upward, and restore the registry in Windows: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • System Administration > operations > scheduled backups does not appear in ACS 5.0.0.21

    Hello!

I want to do the backup schedule. According to the user's guide:

You can create a backup scheduled for the primary instance. To create, reproduce or modify a regular
    backup:
Step 1 Choose System Administration > operations > at the request of the backups.

But the Administration of the system > operations > scheduled backups does not appear in ACS 5.0.0.21.

    How can I save?

    Hi Alexander,.

Could you please confirm which link you found these instructions?

It seems that these are the instructions of the ACS 5.1 user's guide, but we do not have a similar option on ACS 5.0.

    Kind regards
