Windows XP SP3 didn't stop. Explorer freezes.

Hello. In the company I work, all stations have Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 installed. They all connect in an Active Directory domain.

I can log on to the domain and use the computer normally. Anyway, when I try to shut down the computer when I click in shutdown (stop), the computer crashes completely. I must kill explorer.exe and start it again and use the command 'shutdown-s-t 00' in the command prompt to shut down the computer. Even in this way the computer crashes in the message "Windows has finished" until I have disable manually by holding down the power button. How can I solve this?

The strange thing is this problem happens just to connect to some of our areas. When I login with local administrator password I can disable the computer normally.

  • Windows XP sp3 has suddenly stopped show all devices in Device Manager.

Found problem when I couldn't put any printer online or can I install a new device. Everything else seems OK with a USB hard drive and modem works fine. Queue Pinter seems to have several printing with no name, but all around 34 bytes which keep coming back when removed.

    Hello

    1. you receive an error message when you access the Device Manager?

2 have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

    3. What is the brand and model of the printer?

    Method 1:

Follow the articles and check them out below:

Device Manager does not display devices that are not connected to the Windows XP-based computer

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315539

    Download the update and check:

Device Manager may not show that all devices and network connections may not display network connections after installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/953979

    Method 2:

Assessment of problem printer if the Printer Spooler service is running.

    Step 1.

You can start the print spooler by using the following procedure:

    a. in the Administrative Tools folder (click Start, then Control Panel, then system and Maintenance and then Administrative Tools), open the Services snap-in.

    b. Locate the print spooler service in the services list and confirm that the status is started. If this is not the case, select the service, and on the Action menu, click Start.

You can also do this from an elevated command prompt window (right click on prompt in the start menu and click Run as administrator) by typing the following command: net stop spooler & net start spooler

(It of actually two commands, "Net stop spooler" and "Net start spooler", came at the same time for that process control Windows both, one after the other).

    Step 2.

To start the dependencies for the print spooler service, follow these steps:

    a. in Services, right-click on print spooler and then click Properties.

    b. click the Dependencies tab. The first box list all system services that must work for the print spooler start. These are dependencies.

    c. take note of each service, click OK, and then restart each service on which the print spooler is dependent, if the service is not already started. If a service is not started, right-click, click Properties, and then make sure that the startup type is automatic.

  • Sometimes when I shut down Windows XP - SP3 it just hangs until I pull the power plug.

When I Shutdown Windows XP - SP3 (w/latest updates) it freezes just until I pull the power plug. I had this problem for some time. Before even the latest updates. This could be the cause of this problem?

It happened after doing many different things, so I don't think that a particular program might be causing the problem.

I reinstalled Windows at least twice this year so far and I'm not interested in doing it again.

I imagine stopping by pulling out the plug could cause problems for Windows in the future.

    TKOP,

Your problem may be hardware related or associated software. I have seen this with Mcafee installed on workstations and eventually found that memory has caused the problem.
The simplest and the least expensive would be to replace the memory modules and uninstall Mcafee. (you can google must uninstall mcafee to obtain an uninstall program) If this does not help, check the operation of the fans on the unit. If they don't keep the processor cool laptop, they must be replaced. You may be able to check the time of fan in the bios.
You can also check the Windows event log to see if there is any information to software problems.
Worst cases would be the power supply or the motherboard are the cause of the problem, you could get a diagnostic software from the manufacturer of your computer to check maybe it.

Or run it to test your memory on your computer.

  • Performance IEEE 1394 Windows XP SP3 Adobe Premiere 6.0 problem

I'm trying to capture video using Adobe Premiere 6.0.  When I got Win2K installed it worked fine.  I have upgraded to Windows XP SP3 and first stopped working properly.  A clean installed Matrox RT2500 - it's the video capture card, I bought with the kit Adobe Premiere - according to the instructions, as well as first - including the 6.01 update.  Now when I connect my Sony DCRTRV520 camcorder via firewire IEEE1394 and try to capture the Hi8 video I recorded, it won't record a few frames, then stops.  Matrox video tools say that the IEEE 1394 device has stopped working.  First capture options indicate that the camcorder is not recognized.

I found a forum which indicated that the problem was with XP sp3 drivers for Texas Instruments OHCI 1394 device - indicating that the sp2 and sp3 downgraded the 1394 to S100 speed device performance.  I found an article in the database saying MS was aware of the problem and finally got that to work (KB885222) download

    http://download.Microsoft.com/download/9/0/6/906f2f67-39c4-48bc-8558-86833d4cbc16/WindowsXP-KB885222-v2-x86-enu.exe

It will not actually install on the PC I am running SP3 not SP2.  It's really frustrating because the system worked very well under windows 2000. Even worse since I have a lot of old video - not stored on DVD or transformed into films which I was hoping to work for presents for the family, this Christmas.

Anyone know of another - hotfix - download or similar which will fix this problem?

Maybe I'm pointing out what is obvious, but sometimes clearly easily unnoticed past, did you happen to remove the old thermal paste before installing the new heatsink? If yes then you have too much? If the number is indicated as overheating in POST so this has nothing to do with the software at all. Windows XP home SP3 update installation hangs at logo screen of widows at the end of the installation process. I then have to restart the computer Windows XP load how fortunately but it then immediately starts trying to configure documentviewer and is unabe to find the installation files. At this point IE also will not work reports an error "the requested lookup key was not found in any active context"

Now, I'm sure that the last problems are caused as a result of the installation of Windows XP SP3 update does not complete. I tried to do a manual update via Windows update, but after 105 update files that still has not solved the problems. I tried a system restore, but this also was not a success.  Can someone please help with advice as to how I might remedy the situation?

OK, after more research I found that documentviewer.msi was the issue that prevents installation ended. The file is part of HP Imaging software, so I uninstalled the HP software & the upgrade was able to complete resolution of the problem with IE in the process.

  • RE: WINDOWS XP SP3 of queries sent October 2, 2010 dear Sir,

    RE: Queries WINDOWS XP SP3
    Envoy on October 2, 2010
    Dear Sir.
We just installed Service Pack 3.  Now several changes
have taken place, we want to reverse.
    1. all records have the beginning with FILE menu command
FIND the best choice (in bold).  That means ENTER key opens
Search, not the file directly.  We have our own system of
storage file in subdirecories and do not want to use
'My documents', "myComp" and other stupid names.  How can do us
    OPEN as the first choice?
    2. when to use CTRL + F to search for a name of text inside file
a file, the window opens in the same position as the record
to be examined.  It also closes this folder later.
How can we have RESEARCH to appear as a separate window, while
    NO previous windows closed?
    3. the default icon for folders is a Manila folder with
a lot of very small bunk symbols.  How can we define the
default to a folder empty manilla everywhere?  The
"applies to subsequent records" does not work.
    4. some record fields (columns) appear very light
colour, white and tinted white.  This is a nice feature
We want to use, but it is difficult to distinguish no difference.
How can we make the differential color stronger?
    5. for the connection of an external hard drive, it automatically
"autoplays" and a menu comes to "choose action".  We
Oly use it to back up = data.  How can this unwanted wizardly
    assistance to shut up?
    6. in the browser, the message "Intranet settings are now".
turned off... "appears every time and takes another bar
across the width of the screen.  How can we delete this
message permanently?  We have no Intranet connection.
    7. when clicking a *.pdf file suddenly the first order
in the menu file is replaced by "open with Adobe Reader 9.
How can I remove this annoying interference and simply do not have
'open' option at the top of the page?
    8. from time to time, we record our voices using Microsoft «»
Tape worm 5.1 SP3 "and headphone\mike together.  But the
micro alive all the time 24/7.  Where can we find a
button to turn off the microphone?
    9. in case of a 'research' reviews movies automatically to
large icons, while we only use the format of "details".  How can-
avoid us this constantly and everywhere?
    10. in opening the files, there is a subtle broken white color
several fields of details.  It is strange that not the same
fields have the same color.  While the colored backgrounds are
attractive, we would lke more control and stronger colors.
    How we handle this view
    ?
    11. two of my folders have fonts colours blue and yellow, all
others are in black.  Seems to have no control over that.
How can I change the font color of the names of files and folders
    ?
    12. When you change the folder icon, it records as a new date
changed, but no data is changed.  We now *.htm and
their associates * _files on different dates. How can-
We store the last modified date when data are
    in fact, only edited?
    13. in EXCEL3000, when two cells are merged in the two lines
and the alignment of the text is located in the 'Center' then the other
individual cells along these two lines, all texts are centered
(including the number of line along the left border) and cannot be
moved to the 'low' or 'top '.  How can we remove all «»
    alignment of the line '?
    14. in EXCEL3000, the cells seem to have a very slight tint
(off-white) as the color field.  In edit mode, they turn
more bright white, includng all other cells that have been
recalculated after change data in a related cell.
This lasts until the screen is refreshed.  This only happens
in some sheets in the same workbook, but no color change
in the other sheets.  How this attractive feature can be
controlled in all sheets and how color can be set to one
    stronger tint?
    15. in EXCEL3000, the appearance of color of a spreadsheet is
controlled by the definition of the location of the color
palette.  But this can be changed arbitrarily by the user and
isn't it the same in other versions of EXCEL.  How can we be
certain that a proposed color actually appears even if
the file is viewed by another user, or on another computer?
    16. in Internet Explorer v8, when downloading files from
Internet, the meter on the bottom left starts to
"Download (1.32 MB 6.35 KB): http://www...". "but then
freezes and does not increment until the product for download.
Sometimes it freezes at other values.  Fact that occasionally
the counter advance at a rate set at full value.
If it is a bug, can it be fixed?  If it requires an action,
    What do we do
?  When the whole numbers are displayed, the two
decimal places are disappearing.  It is good scientific practice
ALWAYS show the degree of accuracy, being two decimal places,
including the zeros.  The mixture of display KB and MB in the
same statement is NOT good scientific practice.  All units
must be the same.  To display two decimals in kilobytes
is insignificant and meaningless.  It would be preferable to view only the
Megabytes, then to THREE decimal places to take account of
    Kilobytes.
    17. in EXCEL3000, using forms automatic drawing compounding
several surfaces that overlap, the command "go to the front" and
"go to the rear for" works well.  But the option 'down' and 'go '.
superior"do not seem to work.  There is no way to find out
in which order the drawing folios are stacked.  What makes
the shading of unpredictable stacked surfaces.
    18. in WORD3000, the cursor blinking on the insert is sometimes
very short, less than half of a strong letter.  Other times it is
all the way up.  He's still very thin and not easy to see.
    How that can be controlled
    ?
    19. under WIN - XP, using "save under" a file name can be suggested
or a new typed in.  By then changing the subdirectory,
Sometimes the name turns into an existing file,
already highlighted in this new subfolder.  Expected not
This change, pressing "enter" of the old file is overwritten
and its lost data.  How can it be avoided in all cases?
    20. in start the computer, it always displays a message
"Cannot open the scanner program.  But I do not use a scanner.
How this message got there and how to stop
    appearing in the future?
21 when a folder is renamed, its 'Date Modified' passes to
today.  But all subfolders automatically change their
"Date of creation" in today.  It is a significant loss of integrety
all of the files involved.  How this can be fixed or
    prevented from happening again?
    22. when a case is its icon has changed, the research"(CTRL + F)
present the old icon.  How can we make the icon of a file
the same appear everywhere wherever it is displayed?
    23. How can I make the sound composition, as the numbering mode
    beeps?

Microsoft is committed to solve the problem which has continued for months.  Promises, promises.  The genesis of the issue took place in the summer 2013 and has been reported in this community after the updates of August, when it was reported that the last cumulative update of security for September KB2870699 be downloaded and installed manually set the CPU of fortification to Windows Update.  The linked thread shows this being reported in September and a month the well-known universal question went from bad to worse, with the installation of the updated cumulative security for IE being the fix manually.  The problem has been compounded by a bad Microsoft Fix it tool that was linked by Microsoft as the fix for Windows Update problems, but the difficulty bad it tool would then instantly to corrupt the registry of a computer of the user and cause an additional problem that would make the BITS and the two stop work, worsening the problem instead of fix windows update problem.  971058 is the famous set and there are other iterations that have the same bad code and cause the corruption of the same register.

The steps above should solve the more obvious and certain to problem. However, there are two other known problems that may also arise and are common questions of interest as the extra aggravation.  The first issue is certain and the other 2 issues can also either or both be also present in the form of a complication.

It often happens that the installation of SP3 will break the windows update feature by not properly installing the windows update agent.  An older version of the windows update agent can be downloaded and saved in the C directory and installed by an execution command.

To connect to Windows Update the old version of Windows update agent detects installed and the latest version will be installed after consenting to the ActiveX installation.

  • Windows XP SP3, the blue screen and restart loop

I use Windows XP SP3. I have the blue sreen of death and I'm in a reboot loop. I don't have a CD with the operating system, as was pre loaded on the laptop. on the blue screen of death, let me stop error:

    STOP: 0 X 00000024 (0 X 00190203, 0X8713F238, 0XC0000102, 0X00000000)

    Can someone please help?

This error indicates a problem with the NTFS file system.

You will not be able to boot in a mode any, until resolve you the file system.

You need start in the XP Recovery Console and run chkdsk /r to see if he's going to clean it up.

    Here's how:

Boot into the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD.

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

  • Windows XP SP3: There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network.

As mentioned, I am under Windows XP SP3.  Starting around June 14, 2011, I get this error message: "There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network."  I didn't any problem access the internet, which is weird considering all the forums I've read the user has had problems with this.

I followed the steps to solving this problem.  I checked the IP addresses on all devices connected to my network. none match the computer, I get this message.  I tried refreshing and renew my address this computer's IP, but that has not solved the problem.  I've updated my modem drivers; who has not solved.  I checked the settings on my router but nothing.  I have turned off all devices in the House connected to the network, unplugged both the modem and the router, plugged the modem back in (anticipated for a constant signal), then plugged the router and gives him the time, but I got the message again.  I ran scans anti-virus and anti-malware, but neither picked up something.

I am out of resources in this regard.  I guess that something might be wrong with the router, but that doesn't seem right.  I had no problems with the router as I bought it a year ago, and as I mentioned there are no connectivity issues (always as fast as I'm willing to pay my provider).  Two things have popped up in my mind that could possibly impact this: all about 14, there was a Windows update that has pushed down and the message began not to burst, until, after downloading (but I have not had this same problem on other computers that have received these updates) , and there was a very, very brief power surge (second meaning) in the House around the 16th which caused no (to my knowledge) do anything stop but not a hand a few clocks.  Thank for any help with this!

No. except if you must move the computer to another network or if you are not actually that responsible for the network.

As long as you are in charge of your network, you can configure your router to reserve an IP for your machine OR set up so that the DHCP range is, for example, all the IP addresses above to x.x.x.100 and you you give an IP address below that (say x.x.x.99).

In the first case, you let your computer configured as DHCP - your router just recognize it and gives this machine (and only this machine) reserved IP address.  For the latter, need to change the settings in Windows after changing your router so the DHCP range does not interfere with the static IP address range.  I would say that the latter is more likely to be a problem than the first, especially if there is a chance that this machine moves from one network to the other.

Personally, I use the booking method on my home network.  In this way my laptop, iPad, etc. all get a given IP address every time (an I know) and I have to set up the real device special somehow.

  • A video shows the 'windows media player 2 has stopped working ". How can I fix it?

When I click on the icon to play a video, "windows media player 2 has stopped working" is the only thing that appears. How can I fix it?
I have to go into the program to find the video. I didn't know that there was a Media Player 2. Would it not be better to download another drive to use? If so which do you recommend?

    Hi Dave,.

    1. What is the format of the video you are trying to play?

2 are you facing this problem only with a particular video file?

    3. have you made changes to your computer recently?

I suggest to follow the link and run Microsoft fix - it and check if that helps.

    I hope this helps.

  • When I opened my recipe that is in format word 2007 on Vista, I may be able to open a document. The top of the window begins to turn blue, then computer freezes.

My file of recipe stored in my computer was working fine until a few days ago.  When I go to get a recipe it may or may not open.  Then the top of the window begins to load a blue line.  The computer freezes and I have to stop him.  I tried to launch the cd provided with the computer to repair windows, but that didn't work because he asked for the part code which, when I loaded that I've seen does not match the dashes, they asked.  Any ideas?  Should I uninstall and re install?  Help, please.  Thank you

    Hello

I suggest you to restore the system to an earlier point and check if it helps:

    It will be useful.

I am experiencing random stops and freezes when using the Internet, or when in a document. Also sometimes I get a boot error, Startup Repair tries to fix problem and fails.

Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

    -

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To do that click on start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

When you get your system in good working condition, I invite you to back up your system up to an external hard drive and make it regular periodic updates.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
