Windows XP stuck on "Shutdown of Windows"

Not sure what happened, but the Win XP inside Fusion 3.1.1 is stuck on a screen that says "Windows" closing". I can't Win XP to restart. I tried to send ctr-alt-del, but nothing happens. The restart was probably started by security updates or some of the jazz, but now my VM doesn't help I can restart Win XP. Any ideas?

    I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall Windows Vista 64-bit. After he had several updates to my machine same day. The next day, there were several more updates downloaded, and after those, I got a problem when windows is stopped, it never ends. I have to force a stop down by pressing my power button. Is two questions - there a fix for what I can do? does anyone know what update was responsible for this where I might be able to uninstall the update? I thought to go in and uninstall all updates pushed the second day, but do not know if that will cause more problems or not. I heard about what is a problem for many people. This is the first time I had this problem.

  • Printer HP Envy 4500 stuck in shutdown

    I tried to copy a document.  I resized it by reducing the size, but intended to increase the size.  Error message said it was "impossible to analyze, power the printer off then back on."  If this does not work, the scanner is broken. "I pressed the power button / stop and screen read"shutting down", but it is stuck there.  None of the buttons work.

    Hello Dda1,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

    I see that you have a problem with the printer not wanting to stop.

    Try unplugging the power cable at the back of the printer and the power supply.  If you use a power strip/bar, please connect the power supply directly on a wall outlet and stop using the Strip/bar.

    Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer for example, but it is intended for HP products in general. Please click the link which explains the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.

    If troubleshooting doesn't help not solve your problem, then I would say call the HP Technical Support to see all the other possibilities for you. If you call in North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, please click here: click here.

    Hi mm_mm,

    ·         Where did you run these commands that you don't have a Windows 7 DVD?

    I suggest that you try to boot into Windows recovery environment using method below if it is preinstalled.

    Method 1

    (a) remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer by using the power button on the computer.

    (b) do one of the following:

    i. If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You

    you need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you must try again by waiting until the

    the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    II. If your computer has multiple operating systems, use the arrow keys to select the operating system that you want to

    to repair, and then press and hold F8.

    (c) on the screen Advanced Startup Options , use the arrow keys to highlight repair your computer, and then press

    Come in. (If repair your computer is not listed as an option, then your computer doesn't include preinstalled recovery

    options, or your network administrator has disabled the.)

    (d) to select a keyboard layout and then click Next.

    (e) in the System Recovery Options menu, click command prompt to open it.

    What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7

    Method 2

    If the previous step fails and you are unable to boot to the Windows recovery environment, you can use the command from the Windows recovery environment installed permanently on the computer below.

    (a) click the Start button.

    (b) in the search box, type command prompt.

    (c) in the list of results, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (d) in the command prompt type reagentc enable and press enter

    (e) restart the computer and try to connect to the recovery environment Windows and open command prompt and make sure you type the order slowly and correctly.

    I hope this helps!

  • Windows Update problem! Now it is stuck in a reboot loop!

    I have Windows Vista on a Dell Latitude D620. Today I did a
    Download of updates and it went through the shutdown procedure and restart the computer. Now it is stuck on "Configuring Updates - part 3 of 3 0 0% complete.". There is disk activity, then it restarts, only to return to the exact same page.

    I tried every safe mode, last known good config, etc., but as soon as it starts it goes to this screen. I can't get to a prompt... nada... It comes
    driving me crazy. Even the guy I talked to at Dell do not know which increased or how to fix it.

    Help, please?

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:
    As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.
    As your falls into the above category: download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista repair disc.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    There is not a disk of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
  • Stuck on "starting windows" screen during installation of Windows 7
    Hello
    I used windows 10 in dell inspiron13 7000 series. Now, I want to use windows 7 as for my personal use. When I try to boot my laptop with USB stick bootable, because I don't have cd player in my laptop. The problem is when I run the startup it stuck at 'starting windows' screen I can't go any further, so I need force shutdown my laptop. I am unable to install windows 7 on my laptop. What can I do, please help me.
    Thank you.
    Hi Praveen,
    Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.
    We need more information about the issue so that we can help you better.
    1. is Windows 10 still installed on your computer or you have wiped the hard drive?
    2. don't you upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10?
    Thank you for details on the issue.
    If Windows 10 is installed, you can downgrade to Windows 7 within 30 days of the upgrade. If it crosses the 30 day limit, the option in the settings that allows you to return to your previous version of Windows will not be available.
    Please see this link:
    Return to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-10/going-back-to-Windows-7-or-Windows-81
    However, if you want to install Windows 7 from an external installation media, you can re-create the rack installation of Windows 7 from this link:
    https://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/Windows7
    It is possible that the installation media does not develop properly. Please also make sure that you disconnect all the devices connected to the computer before installing Windows 7.
    Note: You may lose programs installed after upgrading Windows 10. I strongly recommend to back up your personal files and data on an external hard drive.
    I hope this information helps.
    Simply answer the required information and let us know if you need more help.
  • Install Windows 7 stuck on screen 'Verifying DMI pool data'
    Hello
    so I installed windows 7 on my aspire m1110 (Cpu: AMD Athlon 64 x 2 4800 + Ram: 3 GB video card: ATI Radeon HD 3450 1526 MB) and the final rebot, the computer is stuck in the screen "Verifying DMI pool data". Then after an hour or two, I forced the computer to shutdown (clicked the power button) and after it the pc just does not start. NOTHING. I click the power button and does not appear any image. I can't boot from the cd or dvd... I can't do anything. Could someone help? I'm tired of Windows vista because it's so slow and I really want to Windows 7. Meanwhile, I solved and back to windows vista, but I don't want that. My computer is not compatible with windows 7?
    OK, first you install windows 7, it goes through all the steps and installs and then when is it recharges and gets stuck on VERIFIANT DMI, shut down the computer and boot from the cd again once, when it loads and goes to the screen when you press INSTALL WINDOWS on this screen, it is also a windows repair option press that and don't select auto repair. go to the command prompt
  • Windows 2012 stuck on reboot
    We run vSphere 5.5 U2, and we have a few Windows 2012 SMV and some 2012 R2 virtual machines.
    It seems that when a reboot is initiated from an RDP session on virtual machines 2012 (not R2), they usually get stuck when rebooting on Windows screen with a circle of rotation. The only way to solve it is to reset the virtual machine.
    In my tests, this happens if you try to restart the console (VM > power > comments to restart).
    Has never seen this, or know a way to solve?
    I saw this happen not only with Windows 2012, but also with Windows 2003. The reason - at least how I understand it - is related to the fact that the closure of the RDP session (not a console session) gets, the shutdown process could be killed, which leads to a situation that is not defined. What I usually do to avoid such a problem is to use shutdown-i who starts a process that is not running in the RDP session, but on the host directly.
  • Windows don't stop, he is stuck
    Hello
    I have so far Mac OS LION and 4 of the merger.
    I've been using Vmware without problems, but recently, I've been blocking Windows XP, as I always do, and he just stuck.
    I have the window that says "Windows is shutting down", but it is for 2-3 days, I try to kill the process from vmware, close, etc. but the vmware always suspend the process underway, and when I run the windows again he 'wakes up' for the shutdown process again.
    I have very important data inside this machine windows virtual machine, how do I fix?
    Kind regards.
    With the merger, closing, open the folder of the virtual machine (package) and remove any file .vmss.  It's like pulling the plug on a physical machine.  Then relaunch Fusion, open the virtual machine start-up.
  • Windows XP Guest Machine stuck 'shutting down' in VM 2.0.6
    My Windows XP guest is stuck in Shutting down Windows screen.  I am running v2.0.6 VMWare on a MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz Core Duo with 2 GB of RAM.  Ideas on maybe force he quit or do a reboot would be appreciated.
    The following applies to Fusion 2.x.
    VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > VMware Fusion help > running VMware Fusion and Virtual Machines > Shutting Down a virtual machine operating system
    VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > VMware Fusion help > running VMware Fusion and Virtual Machines > Options for VMware Fusion food orders
    VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > VMware Fusion help > running VMware Fusion and Virtual Machines > orders of switching power supply from the default Options
    ==========
    Note: It's like pulling the plug of the wall on a physical computer. Whatever this is not saved will be lost and there is always the possibility of corrupting the file system where preforming a hard stop! (Even if you have no choice but to do.)
    VMware Fusion menu bar > VM > press the option key and select Power Off
    By pressing the keys alt/option "Shutdown called" changes to "Power Off".
    Note: It also changes orders of "Suspend comments" and "Restart Guest' too.
    Or if this does not work then...
    On the library Virtual Machine ctrl - click on the target of the Virtual Machine and select Show in Finder and delete the .vmss file, the ctrl + click the target package of Virtual Machine, and then after the merger closed. Note: All that was not justified for the suspended state will be lost by deleting the .vmss file. Note: However: you have no other choice if the Virtual Machine does not suspend/resume/stop/start correctly.
I was not working on the computer at the time, just Rhapsoday of music in the background running continuously. Any help would be appreciated.
