Still do not see the cd/dvd drive after Upgrade to windows8 pro, any other ideas?

The drive is visible in your Bios?  If there is perhaps not a hardware fault, perhaps an eventual disconnected wire etc. ?

If you wait a few weeks Windows Update 8.1 will be available on the Store, and this update might solve your problem, if it is not hardware related.

You could try to go back to Windows 7, or whatever you upgraded.

Most of the new machines come with a recovery partition, allowing you to return your purchase, you will need to check your user guides (or the manufacturer's Web Site) for instructions.  Choose this path requires you to save all the data first.

You can then retry the upgrade if you can see the CD/DVD drive in Windows 7.

  • Presenter 9 do not (re) installation after windows8.1 upgrade

Last week I successfully installed Persenter 9 on a 8 (64-bit) windows box with my 32-bit version of office 2010.

The weekend I upgraded my machine to windows 8.1 (64-bit). As I have my profile on another drive I had to reformat and back to win7 for returning to win8 to update - and lost all my programs, settings, and applications.

Reinstalled office 2010 and applied all the updates, reinstalled Master Collection CS6 (and updates applied through app Manager)

Tried to reinstall 9 presenter and got the error message that I had a problem.

To make sure that I did so, I redownloaded the 32-bit version (even tried the 64 bit, but who could not tell from the beginning that it could not find a verion of the ppt 64).

    Here is the error log.

    Grateful for any help

    Hi Kim,

Please try to uninstall the presenter first if that's possible.you can check the presenter 9.0 entry in Control Panel > programs and features.

After only 32-bit installation of the presenter you have office 2010 32-bit.

If you are still not able to install the presenter then let know when you are free.

I will implement session connect and attempt to resolve your problem.

    Thank you

  • Windows 8 upgrade clone running with the unspecified error message

Windows8 key upgrade to purchase online and download and run the upgrade of windows, do not progress after estimating the time and display message unspecified error. A contacted the HP Support and support of Microsoft, but both, explained the problem with the safety of home network and the bulkhead firewall norton. But no not resolved after you turn off the fire wall. Using windows 7 64bies

Norton is a small program, an inconvenience that will not go away and likes to pretend he is disabled or uninstalled when it really isn't.

If Norton is at fault, then it should be removed using Norton Removal Tool to make sure that it is not really there and conflicting. Disabling/uninstalling standard medium is not enough.

Download the appropriate software suite tool and run it to completely remove the offending software. Once that is done, try to run the update.

  • Windows8 upgrade

    Hello

I use the pc hp Pavilion dv6-6015tx laptop. I just bought a year ago.

I now want to upgrade to Pro Windows7 HomeBasic Windows8.

    Is it safe to upgrade?

I actually checked with the Assistant of Windows8 upgrade & it has just shown that some 6 to 7 software need attention.

It will automatically install the HP programs (such as the management facility, cool sense, simple pass Wizard, etc...)?
I will also be able to access my 1st backup I made using hp software?

In fact, I plan to buy win8 before January 31.

He would be grateful if I get help as soon as possible.

    Thank you.

    Hi Mary,

Depends on what you mean by "safe" - it is safe in the respect that Windows 8 will run on the computer.

It is 'dangerous' in the respect that there is no drivers HP and support required to completely run the HP software needed to own tansistion and without problem.

Windows 8 upgrade - tested HP of control systems

Laptops - upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 8

    Support for Wiindows 7:

Software downloads & Driver - HP Pavilion dv6-6015tx notebook PC

    • There is a version SimplePass that will run on Windows 8 for you - you can use your Windows 7 driver for the fingerprinter.
    • CoolSense may not work - for making unmanned systems, this program can be problematic for reseating.
    • You may have problems with the sound.
    • You can have display issues, particularly if you run switchable graphics.
    • There are other sections that you may or may not be able to fix.

Once you upgrade, you can come back to Windows 7 – If you made an Image of your Windows 7.  You will not have access to your Windows 7 Recovery Manager: the recovery in Windows 7 Manager is not compatible with Windows 8 and upgrade destroyed the 'bridge' between the two methods.

The upgrade to a system without full support of drivers can be - is with the highest risk for a system with driver support and the level of success depends on your skill level and the depth of the commitment in the process.

You can do a search of this forum using the keyword "Upgrade" to start and then add more keywords that you can find more information - decide what you want to do based on what you find.

    I hope this helps.

  • Problems encountered during the upgradation of windows7 for windows8 in my laptop Dell Inspiron 5520.

I'm halfway to the upgradation of windows7 for windows8 in my laptop Dell Inspiron 5520. I wonder to uninstall software for USB 3.0, Dell stage, Bluetooth, ports etc. of windows7, citing compatibility problems. How do I proceed? Similar software will be installed during the process once I have finished installing windows8? Because now, my internet connection is through the USB data card. Please advice of emergency

What I suggest you do is download Windows 8 and create a bootable on a Flash DRIVE or DVD you can do an offline installation. Although the wizard upgrade of Windows 8 is the first download before to actually copy the files.

You can uninstall the proposed components that affect the download installation files.

Maybe you can Google to find an answer.  When was the last time you could make a backup of an any other operating system and restore it on a newer version?  Once you get this answer let us know.
Guess what this backup is for HP computers running Windows Vista only!  Maybe if you understand how works the backup program you wouldn't be so rough for those of us who are trying to help.  But since you've already made your decision, you can Google how to do.  Sure that no one here will help you now.  Maybe HP will... for a price.
  • Display empty after upgrade to windows8

I have upgraded to windows 8 win7 home Basic. the installation is complete. However, as soon as I clicked on start. the PC went white and even after several reboots, the monitor does not display anything. What should I do? Thank you

    I use an ASUS all-in-one e2012 w / touch screen, btw.

Hello, mtmsol. We have the same brand and model of all-in-one PC. And the same problem as well.

(funny, when I called ASUS, they also suggested I have a hardware problem. LOL)

Mine works now. Here's what I did:

After the reboot, when I got back to the black screen, I connected a second monitor, which showed me the picture.

I worked my way from there to:

    1. go in control PANEL

    2. click on MANAGER of DEVICES

    3. spread on graphics CARD

    4. double-click on 'Intel(r) HD Graphics.

    5. on the driver tab, click on "Roll Back Driver"

    This should solve your problem.

Apparently, after successful installation, Windows 8 will update the drivers in the background, that's why all of a sudden, the screen goes black.

I really hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Upgrade to Windows 8 64 bit XP 64 bit error Windows8 Upgrade Assistant

Simple question. Is the ISO downloaded both 32 and 64-bit?  I have Win XP 32 and 64-bit on the same machine, but wish only to install 8 64-bit windows.

I have Win XP 64 bit when I try to run the windows Update Wizard 8 I get an error that stops at all the process with an error "platform is not supported", so I can't run I'm trying to upgrade the operating system.  Please if you do not understand that to reread the question otherwise I'm sorry but do not build your number of answer on my question (yes I'm being nice).  The point is there is no upgrade for win xp, you must do a clean install.  For my part I want to enjoy this upgrade. All I want is an official response. Is the upgrade of $39.95 available for Win Xp 64 bit users?

You do not get an "official response" probably on a peer-to-peer forum.

As much as my number of 'response' - I've been on forums such as these for so long I have and have always said the same thing: none of this issues.  Trying to be nice would be were just stop at "OS I am trying to upgrade", after that, pretty much fail in this attempt, huh?

Google might have gotten you here:
    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj203353.aspx

You answered "unofficial" No. you cannot move Windows XP x 64 to Windows 8 because it is not in the path for help because you must have Windows XP with SP3 to upgrade Windows XP x 64 has never exceeded the SP2.  You can spend $69.99 and get the of Windows 8 Pro Upgrade retail media rather - 64-bit.  However, as you have said - it is essentially a CLEAN installation.

Depending on why you use 64-bit in any case, it may not matter that much if you run Windows 8 32-bit or 64-bit.  Memory?  Some applications?

  • Cannot find CD-ROM after windows8 upgraded

I upgraded my desktop HP Pavallion from Vista to Windows 8 Pro computer. I installed a CD-ROM drive program. Today, the computer can't find the CD-ROM drive at all! I tried to go to the HP site for upgrades of the pilot, but they have not yet supported for this OS. I then tried the utilitty of hardware troubleshooting, but that did not fix it. Finally, I tried the registry fix recommended by someone on this forum for MS. Even that did not work.

    Help, please! Thank you.

The CD-ROM appears in Device Manager?

If this is not the case, try the following:

Start > type cmd.exe , and then right-click on cmd.exe, and at the bottom of the screen, click 'run as administrator '.

Then, at the command prompt, type the following (you can copy and paste) and press "enter":

    Reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" / f/v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

    Restart the computer

However if the CD = ROM appears in the Manager of devices, but with an error you can

Check the following registry key? :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

To the registry for this key, in the right window, in the world is here, under 'Name', a LowerFilters and UpperFilters value?

If so, for UpperFilters and LowerFilters, value which is listed under "data"?
