  This problem may occur if the bootstrapper does not find Windows 7 boot sector or boot file.

  In Vista, open an elevated command prompt, Type (or copy and paste these if you wish).

  CD /d f:\windows\system32

Everything seemed to work fine, I could start and choose between Windows 8 or 7 and both worked well. Then, I updated a graphics driver Win 8 and caused problems with Win starting 8 by a black screen and nothing else. There is no restore point so I decided to start by deleting the partition. I have re installed Windows 8, but now when I boot I get an error screen.

  I had exactly this problem with a Windows 8 machine with a hard drive only a couple of weeks might not start on Windows or Windows CD but was able to start USB recovery and follow the steps below.
