  • How can I view an encrypted file locked with a password

I have a network shared with my husband and it some of my files encrypted and some need a password for access to via WinLocker.  How can I view them? Can I find a free program of decryption or something since I am the owner of this computer and have access to his own and have permission to use his passwords for everything. It is excluded from the country and currently not available to help me with this.

You need the password he used to encrypt/lock to get access to the files.

    Hey Martin,

If you never use Winlocker then you need not to worry!

    If you follow these steps:

    • Open the start menu and click on Control Panel
    • Open programs / features
    • Scroll down and find Winlocker, do a right click and 'uninstall '.
    • Once this is completed, it prompts you to restart your PC.
    • Reboot your PC and try to copy and paste to see if is restored.

Let me know how you go.

    Best regards, Ewan

  • How to decrypt files in windows 7 bioaccess? I forgot the password help me please.

Hi, this is my first post in responses from microsoft, I have a problem, I encrypted a lot of files in windows 7 by default bio access, now I want to decrypt, but I forgot the password, now I don't know what to do, the data are very useful so I want it reverts to its original state. Thank you.

I think that .vmdf - the files are encrypted files WinLocker. If Yes, then you need advice on the WinLocker / Egis technology web site. Also note that if the encryption scheme WinLocker is good then you will not be able to decrypt the files without password. You can look like this: you have chosen WinLocker if every Tom, Dick and Harry could ask people of Egis technology a backdoor password? He'd WinLocker a pretty useless encryption scheme, easily crackable by anyone...

    Hello

All of a sudden, I can't drag-and - drop or copy and paste all the files on an external USB drive. Windows Explorer stops and restarts each time. A ran the antivirus, malware, CC Cleaner etc and its still the same. Also tried in safe mode.

Is this average Winlocker is the cause? Winlocker on my PC for years without any problem.

    Thank you

Hi, I managed to solve the problem by uninstalling winlocker. I had open Séverine deep and burn the files on DVD first, but I seem to have lost the 30 GB partition that he once used it uninstalled.

Yes, I came to the same conclusion - uninstall mywinlocker (a dll shared with windows Explorer which has become corrupted). The dll is: psdprotect.dll, version: 3.1.76.0

Here's what I think happened in my case:

Microsoft automatically installed Windows 10 on my system. I wouldn't use it and returned to my old operating system (Windows 7).
During the re installation, Microsoft provided updates for some files (cela "should include" to explore shared dll) HOWEVER, mywinlocker (part of an independent program that was originally installed on my system in 2011 - the old dll remained in place).

Since Explorer windows update needed now the newer dll - this is why I think that the program was not.

To know if you have this problem - check your event logs to see what error

Start / eventviewer / windows logs / request - find the brand red exclamation (view)
That's what my error looked like:

The failing application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 6.1.7601.23418, time stamp: 0x570898dc

The failed module name: psdprotect.dll, version: 3.1.76.0, time stamp: 0x4aa9003b

    Exception code: 0xc0000005

    Offset: 0x00000000000012db

Start time of application vulnerabilities: 0x01d1cbf05e82786e

    Path of the failing module: C:\Program Files (x 86) \EgisTec\MyWinLocker 3\x64\psdprotect.dll

    Report ID: 189edf94-37e4-11e6-a2db-90fba64d1d10

I do not use Mywinlocker, so I simply uninstalled the program. But if you use - you'll want to put the information before you uninstall.

Once uninstalled - explore should work again. If this isn't the case, you may have remaining broken DLL. To run a system cleaner to solve these issues.

Thank you Moderec for pointing me in the right direction. Like you, I surfed the web to find answers and none of them took into account Mywinlocker. It took some time to solve this - was grateful to finally get fixed! Bravo!

  • Backup of Windows 7 - change the settings - works does not as expected

I'm trying to configure the backup of Windows 7 by using the "Change settings" option, but when I click on the link, all I get is a the Explorer window showing the contents of c:\Windows\System32

Same thing if I click on the link 'manage space '.

What I am doing wrong? or is it a mistake?

Had the same prob, winlocker and shredder in the context menu, uninstalled winlocker and voila, backup now works.
So, try to uninstall the software that hangs in the context menu (the menu "right click") and see if it works. Not interested in why at that time [is really starting to enjoy my Kubuntu box]

  • Win7 Home Premium is not BitLocker-upgrade is no longer available - who need Software.TrueCrypt said encryption is not safe

    Hello

I'm having the same problem as some of the herer posters. I need protect my data. I tried to upgrade to win7 home premium, but microsoft are selling it is no longer. And tried to upgrade to win8, but some drivers won't work. Is there a way to get Bitlocker? I have My Winlocker, but I have a lot of data.

I installed Truecrypt and was about to try when I followed a link on the first window that appears after you click the "create volume" button and a link below the first option on this page, "create a file ecrypted container" and it led me to:

    http://TrueCrypt.sourceforge.NET/

who warns that this TrueCrypt is not secure (?) What is this software works well with win 7?

I can't buy Windows 7 pro or any other version of Windows 7 that microsoft have stopped selling. So I have no way to obtain the bitlocker version that comes with these versions

I have read the forums who say TrueCrypt is very good, is it? If this is not the case, what is a better software for encryption and hide the volume and the reliablility?

Are files encrypted by bitlocker always encrypted and invisbile if the pc is restored to factory State or BitLocker is uninstalled? I remember reading that somewhere, that these files will be are more protected.

I checked the "Anytime Upgrade" link in windws, and now, it brings me to a payment page... ! Is now available again? I was told an online service in a forum or by microsoft that the upgrade of anytme was no longer available! Is it actually available again?

    Thanks in advance

The thing about truecrypt is weird, just noticed this myself today. So Ive used for a while to worm for worm 7.1 6.3 has this review appeared recently as well as 7.2.

There are other free alternatives, see this list of CNET for example - http://download.cnet.com/windows/encryption-software/?licenseType=Free&osNamesExact=Windows+7&sort=editorRating ~ desc % 2CdownloadCountLastWeek ~ desc also http://download.cnet.com/8301-2007_4-57620831-12/truecrypts-cryptic-warning-is-downright-alarming/?tag=rb_content;main

I only mention CNET as a way to get a quick list and comparison information.

  • Pavilion dv6 does not start.

I realize how close to, it is impossible to help someone fix a computer on the Internet, but I thought I should give it a shot.

When I start the computer to the top, volume, power, wifi, the trackpad lights and numlock LEDs and fan turns on, then only the capslock light flashes. Nothing else happens. The screen remains empty and therefore does not allow me to get into the BIOS. No more noises not coming from the laptop. I am unable to do anything to change the lights on the computer. Pressing caps, numlock, winlock or the trackpad button do nothing.

I don't know what caused the problem. The computer worked well the night before and the next morning, when I tried to turn it on, it happened. I think that the symptoms I have outlined point to a hard drive problem, and my warranty has expired. So before I crack this thing open and start playing with it, someone has it any suggestions?

    Hello

As you're laptop is out of warranty, the best advice I can give would be to take it to a local computer repair shop and get an estimate (and to confirm the diagnosis) for the cost of repairs.  At cost less this way you can weigh-up this repair against the cost of a new laptop and then a decision.

    Kind regards
