WinRelauncher.exe - file corrupted
The file or directory X:\Windows\System32 is damaged and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility. I get the above message on my laptop when it boots, I have windows vista
Hi DenisJames,
1. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?
2. are you able to boot into Normal mode?
WinReLauncher.exe error always occurs when the corresponding WinReLauncher.exe file of the operating system is deleted, corrupted or infected with the virus.
You can try an advanced boot options startup repair and check if it helps.
a. restart your computer and keep pressing the F8 key. This will open the screen that says "Advanced Boot Options".
b. click on 'Repair your computer' and press 'Enter '. Select the keyboard layout and click "next".
c. type the user name and password and press the OK"" button. This takes you to the menu"System Recovery Options".»
d. click on "Startup Repair". You need a few options that the system will suggest. During the boot process, your system may need to restart to make the necessary repairs.
If you are unable to do the repair to start the advanced startup options, and then try to start from the full version of Windows Vista installation disc.

HELP: chkdsk.exe file corrupted
I ran a program the other day I was told to run once a week on here to check the virses and after I ran it, I turned off the computer and the next morning, when I turned the computer back on he rode that the chkdsk.exe file is corrupted and then today he rode that one that starts with a j is damaged... and it won't let me download anything to try to fix it so what do I do?
Have you tried the system restore and repair system recommended in my first post? If this isn't the case, you should do it.
SFC is not finished which means that there is serious on your system corruption - if serious program cannot even fill.
CHKDSK does not work so we can identify or repair damage to the hard drive (and it seems that corruption is the reason why it will not work).
You cannot download files for diagnosis or repair efforts (have you tried in SafeMode with network start-up and pushing the F8 key repeatedly until you get the menu, and then selecting this option?). There is a hard drive diagnostic program I want you download and run to test the hard drive. To test your hard drive, check the manufacturer and then get the diagnostic utility of: http://www.techsupportforum.com/hardware-support/hard-drive-support/302602-hard-drive-diagnostic-utilities.html. If she failed the test, replace it. If she passes the test, then it's probably nothing wrong with it. If necessary, download with another computer and transfer it to computer problem with a flash drive and then install and run it (if you can - if you can not, after return).
You have a disk for Installation of Windows Vista genuine or only a recovery of the manufacturer of the computer disk (or no disk at all, except perhaps that you could by my instructions to do the Startup Repair and perhaps even restore system - can be done from the disk)? You have a recovery Partition on your computer with maybe an order of keyboard to activate (and do you know what this command)? If you do not know the answers to these questions, you can contact your computer manufacturer to get the answers, because it's about the next step in troubleshooting. If you can get your hands on a real disk Installation of Windows Vista, then that would be great because otherwise, the only option is a clean install, none of us choosing.
We are running out of options. It seems to me that you have a problem with bad corruption on your hard drive which is the root cause of all these problems. It's maybe fixable or you may need to replace the drive. This is the reason for the above - listed diagnosis program check it out.
I look forward to your reply.
Good luck!

each registry you can think no error. I can connect to the internet, but not to download anything. It seems to be linked to a "installation of Microsoft office 2007" as the registry main/first error was a mistake 'groove '. At the start, it gives a message of a generic profile will be used... no programs or the desktop icons showing... great disorder. Would appreciate any help.
Thank you.
Chris.
Hi chrisgregorio,
- Did you the latest changes on the computer?
- You have a security software on the computer?
Method 1
It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.
I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See section to learn more about how to clean boot.
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353
Reset the computer to start as usual
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.
(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.
Method 2
If you don't receive a similar error message that is mentioned in the Microsoft article then try the steps mentioned below.

boot critical file c:\ntoskrnl.exe is corrupt
Every time I do windows update and then restart, when it configures updates that does not have the login screen, then on my laptop restarts and goes to startup repair. She does every time after that the update and I think it restore my laptop to a working state, because sometimes my files are missing, although she said that no change will be to your files. I used registry booster and there was problems 226 rate was high. When I had repaired problems I installed service pack 1 manually since it wouldn't do it through windows update. When he was made to install the same thing happens again. The problem was boot critical file c:\ntoskrnl.exe is corrupt. From start of the repair, I looked for booster registry to see if he can repair the file, but for some reason it was not on my laptop.

Hello
I'm completely puzzled here. When I started my computer today I got a notification saying one of the start-up programs exe file has been corrupted. I think that "uhoh". Then my antvirus software is dΘmarre with the same and I get the notification that I'm not running and antivirus. Then I realize counts all exe files I click gives me the error "file is corrupted... Please run chkdsk" appear in the taskbar. At this point, I am thinking virus or malware.
Some programs still work even with the corrupted message, but every exe, whether old or newly downloaded, will give me this corrupt message. Also, when I tried to reinstall my anti-virus, he wouldn't. (I'm under Avast Internet Security Pro).
I found myself downloading AVG free and for some reason any that exe is not being corrupt. So I at least have a running antivirus software now.
I scanned my whole system with AVG with the latest virus definitions, and it sees no virus. I run only Malwarebytes with the latest updates... nothing there either.
Is my computer clean? For me this seems unlikely, but there is something that is not a virus or malicious software that could cause this?
Also, I started in safe mode, and it makes exactly the same thing. Each exe is corrupt when I open it.
I am all of these ideas, except to the reformat.
Thank you
Mike
I don't see you mention on running "chkdsk".
So, do you?Start button > Search box, type cmd > look up, right-click on cmd.exe > Run As Administrator >
in the black and white window, at the command prompt flashes, type chkdsk/f/r > press the Enter key.
Note: there is a space between 'chkdsk' and ' / '.The screen will say something like cannot do it now, but you want to run it on reboot. Click on 'y' as in Yes > press > window cmd of output.
Restart your computer. It will take a while. DO NOT stop the machine. Just wait. For the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

Snow Leopard corrupted icons for .exe files
Hello
I found on the upgrade to snow leopard, icon of the merger for .exe files is corrupt, please see the attached picture. I tried re-installing fusion but still have the same problem.
Ben
Thanks for reporting this. The problem seems to be in the icons of document generating fusion, that will affect all the files that you assign to open with a Windows application.
I deposited PR 465449 for that matter.

error message "file corrupted" when running full install - Installer normal no longer works.
I had problems displaying images/videos, so uninstalled so I could reinstall. Big mistake - since I did it, FF absolutely will not install. The normal installation. EXE (I use Windows 7) always gets about a millimeter to the left in the status bar of crossing of 'download' for 'installation '. I then tried the full installer in all 3 versions of the English language, which simply pop up a window saying "the file is corrupt" without explanation or options. Help, please. I work from home and I absolutely have to use FF as my browser for my work, and miss me an entire shift today because of it. Thank you!
Try the FTP server:
You can also try to download Firefox via FTP:

Hello
My 3440 has developed a problem, I think the boot.ini file corruption that it requests to the file ntoskrnl.exe replaced at startup. The problem is that I don't have an external drive to boot from. When I press F2 it gives me a list of devices, that which no no it starts from. I don't have the external CD drive for this, and it won't have a USB floppy drive.
It is impossible for me to solve this problem without the external port replicator or a cd player?
Thanks in advance
Pete
Hello
Unfortunately, without the access on the Windows CD you will not be able to fix it.
The ntoskrnl.exe file is placed on the original Windows CD in the i386 folder.
You could start at the beginning of the CD to make the repair console by pressing R
In the repair console, you can use this command:Expand D:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_C:\windows\ntoskrnl.exe
(D is the CD drive)But as said above seems that you will need the CD player
But wait if the i386 folder has been installed on your HARD drive you could expand the ntoskrnl.exe in this folder to C:\windows\

problem running programs and .exe files
computer has been corrupted (by clicking on kids')-tried malwarebytes' anti-malware scan, when I rebooted, nothing works. I tried microsoft security, but could not access the program. I tried the system restore, but that no longer works. If I try to download a program, do not automatically work .exe files and my computer asks me what kind of program to run it - nothing done! I am missing shortcuts, applications, and system files. I can't go to the Help Center to try a new date of system restore because application helpctr.exe is not found. Any help?It is likely that your .exe and other extensions have changed my virus/malware.
There is a simple fix as long as you can open regedit from the start > run box.
As long as you can then go (I hope I'm not breaking rules here - url not mine but very helpful)
http://www.dougknox.com/XP/file_assoc.htm
Download the .reg and .exe association fixes. Use ' file > import ' option in regedit for each of the downloaded files. This should solve your problems. Best regards, Dave.

Windows system32\config\system file corrupt / missing
I have Windows XP Home edition on my Sony Vaio. Cannot start Windows because I get a msg saying following file is damaged or missing windows system32\config\system
Sony support suggested I start mode F8 and select know last good configuration. I tried and got a msg saying that Windows could not start because the following file is missing or damaged
\SYSTEM32\NTOSKRNL.exe
Sony support is now suggesting a full recovery, but I don't want to lose all my data! Any suggestions on what I can do to fix it, but also, let me keep my data? Thank you!!
Corrupt des/windows system32\config\system missing file? How to fix without losing my data? Support Sony says full recovery of the system, but I'll lose data and sounds very drastic!e star,
For your Windows CD, which would have been provided by the PC manufacturer. Sometimes they have a partition on the hard disk that contains the recovery software and can be viewed during the start up. You should check with the manufacturer of PC for more information about the recovery options. Also if they did not provide a CD sometimes they offer the recovery media for sale. The problem here is that something has happened to the ntoskrnl.exe file. It is difficult to replace just this file because the version that's on a CD may be different for the version that you had on your system. If replace you it with another that it could potentially cause other problems.
At this point, you will need to do a repair install or restore clean install\factory. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers
