WinXP Home is a no start after update...

I have WinXP home on a homemade platform. Materials updated last year and no hiccups so far. I leave always updated on auto. So the other day, as I close it says it updates as usual. The next morning, the computer was turned off as it should be. When I try start it up, it brought me to the screen that says that Windows does not load properly, blah... blah... blah. I tried to select all choices. (Win normally, start it in last known good config, boot into safe mode, safe mode with prompt commands, etc, etc. Nothing works. The last thing I want to do is to reload from the git-go. Is there a way to get in and fix the problem without wiping the drive? Thanks for any advice!

  • XP does not start after update BIOS on Satellite L

I've just updated my BIOS 2.10 to 2.20 to try to overcome a problem of overheating with Linux.
The reboot of the XP laptop will not start. I get the XP screen for a few seconds and then the blue screen of death flashes until restarting the laptop before. The blue screen is so fast, that it's not finished writing the text - I can't see all the numbers to check the error.

If I choose Linux Mint of my GRUB screen, the laptop starts properly. I also see the Windows partitions. I tried to boot from a XP disc to run CHKDSK, but I go to the step where it says it inspects the configuration of my then hangs on a black screen / white and there it is.

Any ideas? Is it possible to roll back the BIOS?

    Hello

    > Is it possible to roll back the BIOS?

Yes, you can downgrade (rollback) If you made a backup.

Can enter you the Bios and check if the compatible mode (after updating the Bios, it might put AHCI default)?

    horticulturist,
Did you run the System File Checker?  If so, what were the results?  If you haven't done so already, you will need to run (sfc/scannow) so that it can check your system files for all questions.  Also this happens after any update is installed, or only the current links that are pending?  I suggest try to install an update at a time and see if you are able to get the updates installed or not.

  • Infinite loop start after updating to Vista Home edition

I own a lenovo model 8705CTO mini tower PC.

At the end of July, an automatic update of Vista cannot install properly, which left the starting in a State sequence, appears:

"Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3-0% complete.

    "Microsoft Vista Home Basic"

    for 10 seconds, then

    "Shutting down".

    for a minute or two

and restart again in the same loop.
    This loop lasted several hours.

    With the help of:

"Rescue and Recovery - repair Express."

    the following message is generated:

"Errors have been detected in the operating system."

    "Click on files" reveals:

    Details

    Status of name
    Bootmgr corrupt

The bootmgr file has 325 KB

Apparently, it was generated on 01/18/2008 and contains 333 203 bytes.

Operating system restore points prior facilities only are not available, since the automatic update has left the system with the restore than identical behavior points.

How can I recover without having to re - install the operating system from scratch?
It is advisable to remove the bootmgr file and it re - generate from scratch?
What is the procedure to achieve this?

    Thanks for your response (s)

I have created the disk as described, as the 64-bit version. The standard disc worked and allowed me to use repair tools.
BTW, these are already shipped with the LENOVO system, and I consulted the tools off during the START-UP phase, then by restarting the PC.

The answer to the success of the recovery could be found here, after that I tried
"Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3-0% complete.
on Google and looking at various web pages:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/949358

(Restore points were crushed, because automatic updates have been selected, and the computer ran unattended for more than a week by substituting the last point valid restore as update VISTA tried to re - install the updates failed every night)

  • Vista 32-bit Home Pemium does not start after the automatic update. Crashes 90% during step 3 of the configuration of update.

Started to start for the first time today, and after half an hour of PC was still at the stage of configuration update 3 to 90%. Tried to restore the last good configuration without success. IE 9 has been installed yesterday and I rebooted a couple of times very well. I guess an automatic update downloaded all night is the problem.

    Hi Dick50,

Try the following and check if it helps.

Method 1: Try to start the computer in safe mode and see if you can start fine. If he is able to start try to perform a System Restore.

    System Restore: frequently asked questions

Method 2: If it is impossible to start then try to boot into the Windows recovery environment (WinRe).

    ·         Do the Startup Repair.

    ·         Achieve the restoration of the system from the same options.

Method 3: Once you are able to start normally, look for the updates and take note of the update that is offered.

    Just reply with the results.

  • Vista Patch... Third time is a charm no start after update

I am running Vista Home Premium x 64 on a Gigabyte card with 4 GB of RAM. The last update applied to stop the system while I was with her and now the cycles over and over. When you try to start using "safe" mode initialization freezes on crcdisk.sys

I started with the Vista DVD and after 30 minutes to finally get a screen that says choose the Vista installation, but there is never any listed installation.

Obviously, the disc is available then why can't Vista see?

It is the third time that this happens after receipt of an update.

What measures would be to restore the system and let it boot normally because the recovery DVDs option does not work?

Check disk believes that here is something wrong with your hard drive. To test, boot from a WinPe or another bootable media, delete crcdisk.sys reboot and yhe system32\drivers\ folder. Your system will go up to the right if there is nothing wrong with the drive.

  • Windows Vista Home Premium does not start after mother, CPU and RAM upgrade card

I recently updated my PC Windows Vista Home Premium. I changed the motherboard, CPU, RAM and video card. When I booted the machine, it has not started Windows. Windows tried to recover, but could not. Is it possible to get this machine to start without doing a new install? The new facility will lose important files.

    Hello

It's a normal reaction after replacing the hardware that you have replaced.

The hard drive with the installed operating system contains the old motherboard drivers, etc..

They must be replaced with the new motherboard, drivers etc.

You will need to reinstall the operating system and then install the new drivers of motherboard (you should have a diskette of drivers for it), if the new installation does not probably them, that it will not...

To backup your data > buy a hard drive USB enclosure > put your hard drive in it > plug it into another computer > read and copy your data from it in this way.

    See you soon.

  • Windows 7 Home locks up and sunk after update

I just did a update on my Win 7 64 bit HP Pavilion HPE system that crases the system and is unrecoverable. Locks system for 20 seconds at the beginning of the start screen continues and then crashes hard after four pulses of the windows logo. I tried using the repair program, but it does not work. I tried to restore to a previous restore but point that fails with unspecified error. I have rebuilt the system four times since the recovery partition and a set of recovery disks, but the problem returns as soon as an update is done. I even went so far as to rebuild the system with Win 8.1 and which seems to work fine but I hate Win 8 and it consumes 90% of my ability to drive so I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 7 and did all the updates of 180 with all that appears OK until that last reboot when the system locked again.  The generation recovery clean failed for an unspecified error (0 x-8000ffff). How can I get control of my system back and disable the update which is the origin of all this? I can't keep the reconstruction of the system and use trial and error to find the wrong update in this life.

    What you reinstall?

Having correctly installed March 2015 updates now?

Configuring Windows Update system never proposed update driver?

The USB 2 cable connects to the computer on an external drive? (Windows Update will download the installation programs of updates on the drive with the most available space).

    Answers to the questions below:

I reinstalled Win 7 Home from the restore hard disk partition.

All updates are current and installed successfully.

I disabled automatic updates (although windows seems to change this return on its own to update automatically).

I understand that a USB 2 device will only work at speeds of 2 even when connected to a USB 3 port USB but it should work and does not cause the blocking system. The device I had connected to port USB 3 was an Extender port with nothing else hooked up behind her, no disk or anything at all.  It should not cause this problem.  I have a backup disk connected to another USB 3 port, but that has not changed with that between blocking and so successful startup which can not be a contributor.

In all cases, the problem is now resolved, and that I won't just plug a USB 2 device into a port of St.
