  • Satellite L40-17 t Wireless does not! Win 7 32 bit

Hello, my name is Alex. I have a problem with Toshiba L40 - 17 t wireless driver.

So 3 weeks ago I got windows 7, WiFi worked fine, had no problems with it.
Recently I reinstalled windows 7, and now my wireless does not work. It is said that no connection is available, even if the distance between my laptop and the router is 10 cm.

I tried windows 7 driver newest---> does not
I tried windows vista a newer driver---> does not
I tried the windows xp compatibility mode---> does not

Lucky my local network works, and I can't access internet, but I also want to use the Wi - Fi function.

My wireless card is Realtek RTL8187B.

I tried the drivers from realtek site too, they are not no longer works.

However, I remember before you reinstall windows 7, I looked at the version of the driver and its date was around 2008. I have not found all the drivers for Toshiba L40 - 17 t, difficult 2008. I hope someone can help me solve my problem.

    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

    > I tried drivers from realtek site too, they are not no longer works.
Is this means that wireless network adapter is not installed and recognized properly in the Device Manager?
In the Manager of devices-> network cards, you should see the wireless network card. If there is no yellow exclamation point and then the wireless network card is installed correctly and that the driver is working

    > I have windows 7 ultimate, wireless worked fine, had no problems with it.
Recently I reinstalled windows 7, and now my wireless does not work. It is said that no connection is available, even if the distance between my laptop and the router is 10 cm.

This suggests that there is s configuration problem.

First of all; Are you sure that the WiFi was enabled? Using FN + F8, you can enable the wireless network adapter. If the FN buttons would not work, then you must install VAP (value added package) and Flash memory card Support utility. If you didn t find these tools in the pilot L40, please check the new generation of portable devices such as L500 or newer.

On the other hand; are firewalls, antivirus software pre-installed that could affect the connectivity? Check it; I've been reading about similar problems, and finally a firewall (like zonealarm) was the problem!

Following; Do not forget that you have configured the wireless correctly; use the good encryption and password; for testing purposes, you can disable the security settings on your router and may attempt to connect without the use of encryption.

As a first step, I would recommend to use the Toshiba Recovery CD and renew the operating system.
Then update the Vista of the State. I mean to install patches and fixes Vista all published.

    Check this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//thread.jspa?MessageID=107665

Here you can see that a missing patches can have a bad influence on the wireless network card and the entire operating system!

    Good luck

    2. what operating system is installed on the computer?

    Method 1:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/help/wired-and-wireless-network-connection-problems-in-Windows

    Method 2:

Try to run Microsoft Safety Scanner for any malware or spyware infection and check if it helps.

Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Go to your computer manufacturer's support web site
and search for the Windows XP drivers for your specific computer or motherboard model number.

If there are Windows XP drivers, then download to a folder on your hard drive and burn it to a CD/DVD.
Then, after installing XP install all device drivers, start by installing the card mother/chipset driver first,
then the SATA, Audio, USB, LAN, etc, drivers.

If you have performed a clean installation of Windows XP (and it sounds like you did) rather than to use the application of restoration-to-factory-condition of HP, then once installed XP, you must install the drivers for the various pieces of hardware in your computer.  XP has some (and maybe Windows 7 more), but usually there are devices that doesn't work at all or work in a degraded mode until the proper drivers are installed.  This is particularly true for laptops.

Go to the HP support site and download the drivers for your computer.  Choose your computer here:http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_lang=en&h_cc=us&cc=us&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&h_client=S-A-R163-1&h_pagetype=s-002&h_query=pavillion+dv1000&submit=Go+%BB

I noticed on the download page of the driver that there is multiple-choice to... wireless adapters you will need to understand that you have.  If you do not have the documentation that came with your computer (or a driver CD), have a look in Device Manager or try Belarc Advisor .

If you download and install the utility wireless in addition to the driver, remember that you will need to decide if you want to as the utility to control the wireless adapter or if you want that Windows wireless control automatic to fight against it. See http://www.ezlan.net/wzc.html

If you still have problems, please post the full text of the error message, without paraphrasing.

Finally, note that some laptops (and I haven't checked your) turn on the wireless adapter or by using a physical switch somewhere on the laptop or a combination of keys Fn key + Fkey press.
