Wireless IP config...

can I have my computer (desktop) search / connect to a 'specific' wireless network, for example enter the RITS, IP, subnet, gateway, DNS ect... for a more precise and immediate connection?

Hello

It is not possible to enter the IP address, subnet, gateway, and DNS for wireless network.

However, you may have a preferred connection.

You can get the information to select connection in the site mentioned below.

http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/wlan_client_configure.mspx?mfr=true

The site is for xp, but it should work as well for Vista and Windows 7.

  • J6480 on wireless networking, but the PC can't see it

I have Time Warner cable modem with a NetGear WGR614 wireless router.  Printer J6480 configured correctly - times the wireless network test report and the Network Setup page are all statuses 'PASS' or 'Ready '.

I searched the forums and found a similar problem and tried this out, his replacement cable for the bit of phone:

    1. Open the printer web page by accessing its IP address
    2. Select the networking without wire then Configuration IPv4.
    3. Select Manual IP.
    4. Enter the IP address of the printer in the manual IP address field.
    5. Enter 255.255.255.0 subnet mask of manual.
    6. Enter the IP address of the router - wireless in the field manual's default gateway.
    7. Select apply.
    8. Finally, connect the telephone line.

No luck.  Note that my subnet mask is 255.255.252.0, if that matters.  My PC wireless does not see the printer on the network through the Printer Wizard in one of the three options.  But I can ping by IP.

    Thank you!

Solved!  Follow these instructions, courtesy of Chong Yip (I found his comment on Amazon.com):

Setting up a wireless connection by following the quick start guide is a huge mistake.

To avoid this problem, the best way to configure the machine is:
    1. configuration of network connection in the menu of the machine, do not use the installation CD.
    2. once the machine is connected, go to the menu of the wireless router config and reserve the IP address of the machine. Now, the machine will always use the same IP address.
    3. install the printer driver. You can copy the installation CD to the hard drive to speed up the installation process.
    4. run setup.exe, select Add a device-> via the network. Your machine must be detected by the Setup program, and you should be able glide from here.

    Hello

Unfortunately, it of not possible to save these settings.
But as far as I know that the settings should not change after a reboot of the laptop.

But you can check the Bluetooth settings in the folder utilities Toshiba.
There is a general named tab that contains a few options.
    Check this box

  • The WLAN button ' does not ' Windows Wireless config does not either

I just reinstalled Windows XP on the PC of the client after a hard disk failure, but I can't get the laptop to work wireless. I installed the adapter of Intel 2200BG correctly & wireless windows zero configuration "works" according to control panel/admin tools/services, but the Windows wireless configuration icon isn't there & free Toshiba config utility tells me to "change the wireless adapter", but neither the switch on the left side of the laptop or the function & F8 key makes no difference.

I got probably a thousand or more PC, but I am baffled by this. Any suggestion would be appreciated gratefully.

    Regards, Alan.

    > I correctly installed the adapter Intel 2200BG & wireless windows zero configuration "works" according to control panel/admin tools/services, but the Windows wireless configuration icon isn't there

    You are two possibilities to configure the WiFi network;
    (1) you can use the clean windows zero configuration settings
    (2) you can use the Intel ProSet utility

When you use the Intel Proset, you must turn off the clean windows zero configuration settings.
You can do this in the network-> connection WLan network connections

In the WLan network connection properties, you can enable the option called display the icon in the notification area when connected.
This would enable the WLan icon in the taskbar.

She must be able to access files and printers on the server of the company.

ConfigFree will allow my employee, hop on the network wireless company and the 'login', access to printers and files of the company? Is there a good resource to describe how to configure?

    Thank you, Amanda

    Hello Amanda

In my opinion you must learn about ConfigFree and what can be done with this tool.
I think there is no sense to write about it here and you can read all about it in the help file.
Just start ConfigFree and click Help.

Read a bit of ConfigFree and all options particularly useful functions there ConfigFree.

    .

I saw your other link you are using Windows XP Home edition and now write you about WXP MCE.
You mix this whole thing or what?
What operating system you have installed?

If you use WXP MCE (laptop came with MCE), please install all the stuff available for MCE. As far as I know all the drivers available for MCE are absolutely the same in the Toshiba recovery image so everything should work properly.

Install WXP MCE and install all the stuff for MCE following order of good facilities. Believe me, that everything will work properly.

Satellite A100 is old enough laptop model and I can't imagine that Toshiba offers incompatible drivers.

  • Wireless configuration of HP Deskjet 3050 for new config router

Hello, I recently changed the settings on my router (SSID, WEP key) and now I discovered that my wireless printer is not connected to the network more. Before the change, I had no problem connecting to the printer, but now, the only way I can do it is via USB.

I printed the printer wireless test report; It is said that the printer cannot find the access point. However, my router SSID is displayed in the list of detected networks.

I tried to start the wizard without wire supplied with the CD, I couldn't do but it assumes that the configuration is over cause I already have all the software and drivers installed. I guess that by completely removing the printer drivers and software would allow me to enter the wireless assistant, but I think it should be easier and more elegant way.

How can I launch the wireless assistant?

Or better yet: How can I manually configure settings wireless to the printer when it is connected via USB?

The network diagnostic utility has been of no use either, because the printer is not connected to the network.

Thanks a lot for your advice,

    Andrés

PS: My modem is not WPS enabled (at least I think so... it is an old model, a ZyXel Prestige 600).

Well, I reinstalled the latest drivers and this time I had the possibility to manually set the printer's ip address and the subnet mask. Then I used the ipconfig/all command to discover these values, and finally the printer works.

It would have been nice to have the option to do the manual configuration of the beginning...

It turns out that plugging in the Comcast cable on the floor was very old, had a longer cable length, and was also on a split bar.  Called Comcast to help solve our problem, and they were able to test the intensity of the signal on the line.  Signal was not reliable on the cable on the floor, so we moved the modem more near the source of moving the cable (don't run, no separator, the best signal of shorter cable).  Upstream of the modem connection was immediately more reliable, moving router downstairs gives the best WiFi coverage for the rest of the House.  I have decided at this time that the extra router was not necessary and referred.  So, Detective Conan... problem was double: bad signal on the incoming line from Comcast and bad location for WiFi router upstairs.

  • What is the right way to extend a network with two stations 80211ac wireless fixed extreme apple via ethernet?

I my house wired with ethernet and have logged as many devices via cat5e as possible. My problem is when I try to connect together the two apple airport extreme base stations and use the second to extend my network I lose the internet connection.  I am able to extend without problems via radio, but since I plugged in the House tried to take advantage of the fastest method by cable.

Here's my network setup in a nut shell.

In the basement, I have my router from Verizon Fios (gateway 80211n) currently configured to provide all the space an Ip address via dhcp (disabled wireless)

Gigabit ethernet port 8 wired via gigabit switch through the cable between the bridge Fios and port 1 of the switch.

    Network

Router mode is grayed out and pondered or bridge mode

Second or first floor Airport extreme config...

.. . Network is set to extend a wireless network

Given that all routers are interconnected by Ethernet, you don't want to configure AirPort Extreme to "Extend a wireless network." This option should be used only if the connection between the wireless base stations. Instead, the two base stations must be configured to "create a wireless network.  This is because that, with them all connected by Ethernet, you have the basis for a network of mobile type.

With this type of network, each router will broadcast their own Wi - Fi network, but because they will all use the same network name (SSID) and use the same type of wireless security and the password, all the wireless clients will see them as network «one»

  • Is it possible to set up a printer wireless without the USB cable?

    Hello

I have a HP Photosmart C4580 and I wanted to set up to run on a network, but I don't have a USB cable. I tried to install it without one, but it does not appear on the network, and I was wondering if you really need a USB cable to install it?

    Thank you.

    1. turn Radio on wireless to the printer.

    2. on your computer, search for all available wireless networks. You should find a named "hpsetup". Go ahead and connect to this network and ignore all warnings.

    3. wait 1 minute after have connected you to the network. Then, print a network of the printer Configuration Page. It should list an IP beginning with 169.254.x.x.

    4. type this address in the address bar of any web browser. You will reach the Embedded Server (EWS) Web of the printer.

5 use the Wireless\Networking tab at the top and looking for an option to ' 802.11 wireless networks. On this page, you will be able to enter your network settings wireless (screenshot attached to facilitate their identification).

    6. make sure that you change the SSID for your network name. Click on the option button 'Infrastructure' and enter your WEP\WPA pasphrase. ENTER THE SSID AND PASSWORD EXACTLY AS IT IS, OR IT CANNOT CONNECT TO THE NETWORK.

    7. click on the button to apply and wait for the confirmation of the parameters being recorded.

8 restart the printer. Once again the Config network printer page. Now, it must have a such IP assigned by your router and not with 169.254.x.x.

    Hi @HVE,

Thanks for the update and I'm happy that you have the wireless works again. As you did a recovery to Windows 7 and I suggest that in one of my posts, would you consider marking this post as "acceptable Solution" to help other members and visitors to what has worked for you and what could help them. I will conclude the matter resolved as you suggested.

Thanks again to become a member of the forum and hope that you find it informative and interesting.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8000: installation of the driver wireless Officejet 8000 Pro says default gateway is 0.0.0.0

I'm chasing a well-documented problem of my printer lost network connection after a variable period of printing to do not. The only way to connect is to change the power supply, but the printer may take 5 minutes to blow and grunts until it settles and prints...

I put a static IP address on the printer (10.0.0.250) as well as an empty default gateway successfully, and the documents are printed after 5mins of blowing and grunting (save the regular lost connection which I'm hunting...).

I put what I thought has a static IP address on the router to match (see image below), but now I don't know if it was necessary, and if the 'hosting of the fixed DHCP server' is correct. It might be useless and missleading...

Using the configuration of the printer to 10.0.0.250 interface, it seems to accept the installation of the network when the default gateway is blank. With the help of 10.0.0.2 caused the 'page not found' error in my browser (Chrome).

However, when you try to reinstall the drivers, the installer has grumbled to the default gateway is set to 0.0.0.0, which currently is the only way it will work...

The Win7 PC is plugged into the router.
The printer wireless to the router.

ipconfig on the pc gives Ethernet card details below.

So basically I have no idea what I'm doing...!

    ==============

Ethernet connection to the Local network card:

    The connection-specific DNS suffix. :
    Link-local IPv6 Address...: fe80::c8e1:63ef:85e0:7 24% 13 c.
    IPv4 address...: 10.0.0.249
    ... Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0.
    ... Default gateway. : 10.0.0.2.

    Router config.

Thank you for your comments. It seems that I solved the problem of the default gateway. Time will tell if the remains of the printer connected through long periods of no use (see update below).

It seems that the configuration of the router of the "DHCP fixed existing host" has nothing to do with the device assigned a static IP address. In fact, it seems that this setting prevents the printer through a default gateway of the router address.

I noticed that when you give the PC a fixed IP, it connected through the router without any other configuration of router. If I reasoned that it may be applied to the printer also, so I moved the printer 10.0.0.251 and Bingo! the default gateway can be set to the IP address of the route.

Since then I downloaded to other updates, which is supposed to correct the common problem of wireless printers, loss of the connection.

I'll try to report in the next few weeks an update about the stability of connection network printers.

    UPDATED: May 23, 2016

And more of the foregoing, my router support suggested I increase a parameter "timeout" from 24 hours to 10 days. I did it more than a week. Today, the printer worked after the impression of not for about 5 days
