Wireless R40e problem

I just inherited a Thinkpad R40e; I had to press the blue "IBM access" button to remove passwords and old programs and now it works perfectly except that I can't connect to the internet via my broadband LINKSYS wireless router. I can plug the wire and it works perfectly; I assume that it's got the wireless capability, do I have to install another driver? All my other laptops automatically the connection are found in the switch.

Please, someone get out me of my misery and tell me what I need to do. My young daughter loses all faith in his father and computer capabilities (again!).

Thank you

Unfortunately, your R40e isn't wireless built-in, you can buy a PCMCIA card.

  • Windows 7 wireless connection problem

I just bought a brand new Alienware m17x and all drivers are up to date... .IM with broadcom wireless network adapter. The strange thing is that last night I was on the internet for several hours without any problem using the wireless, but this morning iwas unable to use my wireless internet access. This has happened several times now. Sometimes it says "not connected - no available connections" and sometimes he says "not connected connections are available" when she says, links, I try to connect to the network, but it says "unable to connect to the network. The only time wherever I was able to connect to wireless internet, was when my computer is automatically connected to my wireless network without me having to select the network and attempt to connect. I read things about windows 7, with a mode of "sleeper" for wireless connections or something, and that can be the cause of it and that it is better to turn off or downgrade to xp. I am really frustrated because I am not able to connect wirelessly and I hope you guys can help me find a solution.

Guide to correctly troubleshoot wireless M17x
    with Dell Wireless 1510/Broadcom card
    by Glzmo

Since many new Alienware M17x all powerful users, especially those who use Windows 7 as operating system there are various problems with their Wi - Fi connection and post threads asking how their difficulty over and over again, I decided to write this guide to show them how to solve these issues properly Commons. The solutions in this guide were created and designed for 64-bit Windows 7, but they may also work in Windows Vista, although these problems were experienced by users of Windows 7 mainly in the past. It could very well be that the problems start occurring in Vista as well with the new drivers and Windows updates.

    I. may not connect to the wireless network and or see the wireless adapter when the Ethernet cable is disconnected
If you sometimes or always unable to connect to the wireless network, cannot connect to the wireless network when the Ethernet cable is disconnected, unable to connect to a wireless network unless you restart once to get this work and other weird problems to be unable to connect to a wireless network continue with section II. Otherwise, continue with section II..

Sleep of a.i. Disable on disconnect device
Some new Nvidia Ethernet drivers have a function called sleep device to disconnect. This is the culprit. Normally, it should only put the card Ethernet to sleep when the cable is disconnected, but it is buggy and thus kill the wireless connection as well.
Follow these steps to disable this feature on your Ethernet Nvidia card:

    1. open the Device Manager of Windows by pressing Win + break, and then click on Device Manager on the left side.
    2 double-click network adapters.
3 double click on NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller (Yes, that's indeed wired Ethernet adapter).
4 click on the Advanced tab.
5 select sleep on disconnect device.
6 set the value to disabled.
7 click OK and wireless should work again (may require a reboot later, but probably not).

I.b. install different drivers (older) who do not have the device sleeping on disconnect feature.
The above does not work or if you are not comfortable with these drivers, follow these steps (if step A.i. was successful, you will not need to follow these steps). Take care to create a system restore point before proceeding:
    1. click the Windows Start button in the taskbar.
    2 click on Control Panel.
3 click on uninstall a program.
4 in the list, double-click Nvidia drivers.
    5. Mark Remove only the following.
6 in the box below, only check the Nvidia Network driver.
7 click Remove and follow the uninstall instructions.
8 restart the system, if you are prompted to.
9 download another (older) driver from Nvidia.
    10 install the old driver.
11 when asked what drivers you want to install, select only the network driver.
12 follow the installation instructions and restart your system if prompted.

II. Low or fluctuating wireless connection speeds
If you have problems with WiFi low connection speeds (such as rates decline over time, the speeds are much lower than they should be, network lag/stutter in online games, loss of light packets, loss of internet connection as LAN works and other weird things) or speeds of fluctuating wildly without apparent reason wireless connection install the version of the Dell Wireless 5.60.18.8 drivers instead of the standard Broadcom drivers. All older drivers will usually cause the speed of connection under normal. Note, however, that you may need to install the driver manually via Device Manager as the pilot was not released for another laptop and is not officially available to the M17x yet - that's why the installer won't work. Take care to create a system restore point before proceeding.
Here is a step by step how manually install the driver:

    1. download the drivers Dell Wireless 5.60.18.8.
2 check out the R29128.exe file using an extraction utility like WinRAR or just run it and quit the installation program.
    3. open the Device Manager of Windows by pressing Win + break, and then click on Device Manager on the left side.
    4 double-click network adapters.
5 double-click the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter entry.
6 click on the driver tab.
7 click the button Update driver .
8 click Browse my computer for driver software.
9 click on Let me take form a list of drivers for devices on my computer.
10 click the disk provided .
    11 click Browse.
    12. select the folder that you extracted the drivers you just downloaded in step 1. in.
13 select the subfolder DRIVER_US (if you are in the United States), DRIVER_JP (if you are in the Japan) or DRIVER_ROW (if you are in the rest of the world), according to the region you are in.
14 click on the Open button.
    15 click OK.
16 select the driver that says Dell Wireless 1510 Wireless-N WLAN Mini-Card of the list (you may have to scroll down to see - it presents itself as second to the last in the list for me).
17 click on the Next button.
18 you will get a warning that the driver that you are about to install is not compatible with your hardware. Ignore the warning and proceed with the driver installation.
19 restart your system if prompted to do so.
20 your new driver should now be properly installed and the speed of your wireless connection in the order.

III. If all else fails (or you've just had enough of boredom arising from the Dell Wireless 1510/Broadcom card)
Replace the Dell Wireless 1510 problem with a card half-mini Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 A/G/N (use the bluetooth as the third antenna antenna or buy you an additional antenna for this). It works very well with the M17x, has better connection speeds to strips of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (this last has speeds really bad on the Broadcom/1510), it has not required to jump through the hoops to make it work properly and much more, it works with standard drivers and Intel maintains their drivers up to date. It is also much more reliable and faster as well, especially on the 5 GHz band, but also on the 2.4 GHz band.

For more information on the subject of tweaking the settings of your Dell Wireless card, check out the official setting advanced properties: Dell Wireless WLAN Card User Guide.

I hope that this guide will help you solve your Wi - Fi connection and allow you to enjoy speeds of complete wireless connection on your laptop Alienware M17x.

Addendum: Quick links in this Guide

    Driver wireless Dell 5.60.18.8 version
Download the driver for the Mini PCI Dell Wireless 1510 card used in this guide.

Broadcom 943xx Wireless Driver version 5.60.18.41
Download the latest Broadcom driver as an alternative to the Dell a little older driver who may or may not solve the problems more. Some have seen more success than with the 5.60.18.8 drivers with it (you need to use the 802.11n network adapter driver rather than at the entrance to Dell Wireless 1510 Wireless-N WLAN Mini Card in step II.15. the guide when you use this driver).

Setting advanced properties: Dell Wireless WLAN card User Guide
Reference Dell official Manual/Guide on the various properties Advanced Dell Wireless cards.

  • Satellite Pro A60 Wireless connection problem

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A60 which was connected to our main office using a Linksys Home Wireless - G USB adapt to I can share files and also connect to our connection broadband. The main office is connected directly to a G from Linksys home wireless gateway. It worked fine then for no reason (no settings have been changed or installed software) the laptop does not connect to the desktop or the internet. The software Linksys says that it is connected to the access point, but the internet cannot be found. Even if he says that it is connected I can't get to the desktop.

I tried to set up a dial-up connection independent for updating drivers etc, but after the normal dial tones, he says that it cannot connect to the remote computer.

We tried everything that we think would be grateful for any ideas. Please speak slowly and distinctly also even if I know a little technical jargon computers is a language that I'm not still commonly!

    Thank you very much

    Hello

It's really not easy to say what can be the problem. In my opinion, you must remove all the settings and adapter WLAN Device Manager. Restart the unit, reinstall the wireless card and make a WLAN configuration again.

In my opinion, it is very important to know if the WIFI network of the device works correctly, and if you are able to share files between the laptop and our main office. If it works properly again check the settings on our front door.

One is the problem with Notepad or another device. If someone of your friends has a WIFI at home, you can try to check the laptop WIFI functionality. On this way, you can be sure that if the problem is caused by your Satellite Pro.

If you find a solution please let me know what the problem is.

    Good luck!

    Hello

    You are the very welcome.

I bought an Actiontec Powerline adapter. It was about 50,00 USD.

Everything will work. Dear sound usually gives a higher flow.

You don't have to uninstall the card wireless on your PC.

Really easy to implement. Plug an adapter into the wall socket close to router. The provided plug ethernet cable into the port on the router and the port on the wall adapter. Repeat the process by plugging it to the wall adapter near your PC. Connect the ethernet cable supplied to the wall jack and the ethernet port on the PC.

    You're good to go.

Yesterday, I was chatting with HP support.

It was the most frustrating conversation of my life. I told them exactly what I had done, the syptoms, everything and then the guy goes, we go just to install drivers. Even if I told them, it's a hardware problem, the orange light, the device, the update of the firmware Manager. All this fell on deaf years. It seemed that the guy knew nothing of the software support and read just via a script. arrrrggghhhhhhh! IT IS THE LAST TIME THAT I WILL EVEN INVEST IN A CV!

so I just buy an adapter wifi for 30 dollars and call it a day!

  • Satellite Pro L850-1 p 7 - wireless LAN problems

    I recently bought a L850 Pro Satellite 1 p 7 and led to a new installation on Windows 7 (64-bit)

After the new installation, I manually installed the driver for the network card, I then shot all windows updates.

In Device Manager, I noticed that it lacks a few downloaded drivers so a load of drivers who have resolved most of the issues.

I don't have one that is still yellow, it's for network controller.

My one question is with wireless network.

I tried to install several drivers, but cannot get the wireless network card to show in the settings of the card.

I can see a bit of reading I have a wireless / Atheros Bluetooth combo.

Reading some other threads that I downloaded the value added package, the package of Atheros Bluetooth and Bluetooth stack filter. After that I turn on Bluetooth with F12 function key, it warns me about issues with Bluetooth and wireless on at the same time.

I also noticed that windows tells me there is a problem with the Bluetooth software and am trying to get download and install driver_bluetooth_TC00131900C

This does not seem to fix anything.

Has anyone else had this problem and the fix is? I really need to get my wireless working...

    See you soon
    Dave

    Hello

You are right, that the Satellite Pro L850-1 p 7 was equipped with the WLan ATHEROS 802.11 A/G/N WB222 card, which also supports Bluetooth.

    > Reading some other threads that I downloaded the value added package, the package of Atheros Bluetooth and Bluetooth stack filter.
It is almost correct. But you forgot to install the Atheros WLan driver.
You must first install the Atheros WLan driver then the filter package Atheros Bluetooth and battery Bluetooth.

This should be the key ;)

  • Satellite A500-1GL - card wireless adapter problem

    Hi all

I had a problem with the card wireless on my laptop for months and have no idea how solve more.

Basically, the wireless card seems to go through phases does not turn on. One day I can boot up my laptop and it works fine, then the next day it won't work. The wireless button on the front of the laptop is turned on but don't turn on the red light.

In the past, I've managed to get over this by several reboots the laptop (until he decides to work) or reinstall flash, wireless etc. drivers card drivers. However, none of these things today seem to be making a difference.

The worst, it's that there is no continuity with when it does not work and how it is fixed (sometimes reboot once fixes it, other times reinstall drivers fix it and so on).

For this reason, I assumed that this may mean that there is some sort of hardware failure? But if I run the laptop in safe mode, the wireless still works without any problem.

Someone has an idea what is happening?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Liam

    Hello

First of all I would like to know what system you are using and if you have tried to recover the laptop to factory settings in the past.

The point is that these issues are mostly related software and could be solved by resetting the system.

However, I think you know that the wireless network card can be turned on and off using the FN + F8 key combination.
Have you tried this combination in the past?

Second, you must check the WLan card status in Device Manager.
The point is that problems of card driver WLan, Wlan card doesn't would be not listed correctly in Device Manager. So this should be the next step.

Where the Wlan card is listed correctly, I assume that the driver is installed and working properly.

  • U940 PSU6VA satellite - wireless connectivity problems

    _ * My specifications: * _
    * Model: * Toshiba Ultrabook (Satellite PSU6VA - 00S 002 U940)
    * Operating system: * Windows 8.1 x 64 (upgrade of Windows 8 x 64)
    * Wireless adapter: * Intel Centrino Wireless - N 2200
    * Wireless adapter driver version: * 15.10.0.12 (which is the last for my device)

I got this Ultrabook since February 2013, and throughout this period, I always had problems with wireless connectivity, even after a factory reset. My wireless icon varies between three States:
    * Internet access
    * Limited (in which case I can't connect to the internet or any other device on the network)
    * Not connected - connections are available (and if I try to connect to the network, it will fail)

Sometimes my computer would instantly reach the State of "Internet access" at startup and remain in this State. Other times, it would be 'limited' for several minutes after the start of my computer before it finally connected, and even in this case, the connection will drop out every now and then. In the worst case, it would indefinitely remain "Limited" or "not connected", regardless of how many times I reset my adapter wireless or rebooted my computer.

Until very recently, I always thought that these problems have occurred randomly. However, I noticed recently that I have always a connection perfect, whenever there is no other computers connected wirelessly to my router, and I always have problems more or less when there is at least another computer (or even a smart phone) connected wireless to the router. If there is another computer connected to the router via an Ethernet cable, this causes no problems. It's only wireless connections that interfere with my computer.

It is only this computer that has these problems; the other computers in my house ever experience these issues, no matter how many computers is online. In addition, my computer is not only these problems with my home router; It has the same problems on the network wireless at my University.

My question is, how do I fix? Is this a known bug or is my defective wireless adapter? I know that I can connect using an Ethernet cable if possible (I have never problems with Ethernet connections), but this is not always possible at the University.

Did you remove the old driver Win 8 Intel of the system before you upgrade to version 8.1 to win?
The old Wlan Intel driver could affect the performance of a Wi - Fi connection.

The driver update page Win 8.1 says clearly that Intel Wlan driver must be uninstalled and the
Inbox Windows 8.1 version must be used.

This is the Broadcom W7 driver that is bound to the 550-000 series support page.

It seems terrible old for me that is why I didn't post it.

This package provides the driver Broadcom Wireless LAN (WLAN) in the supported desktop models and operating systems.

    File name: sp68997.exe

If this does not work either I suggest to reinstall W7 because all experimentation driver you have probably messed up the registry.

Check the hardware ID of the device with the taken ID's supported by the drivers that I posted.

The one I posted is supported by models with the following ID as set forth in the driver installation information file.

  • SP1 RC rest + mobile pro/wireless 3945 problems

Yesterday, I reinstalled VISTA and apply the SP1 RC Refresh on my SS SX17a which uses the Mobile Intel (r) 945 GM Express Chipset.

The reinstallation of VISTA Business edition (6.0.6000) caught around 50, it took almost 3 hours to bring in SP1 RC Refresh via autoupdate on a 10mega ADSL link... I started with 41.6 GB of free space and endedup with 39. Lets hope the final SP1 has a possibility not to save the changes for those who ask the SP1 for a new installation.

No error was reported, but the machine crashes whenever I have turn off the wireless LAN using either the Toshiba soft-switch or the material on the laptop. The laptop has Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG chip and came up with the Intel v.10.6.0.29 driver installed. I tried to install the latest driver from v.11.5.0.32 of Intel and demotion to the v.11.1.1.20 of the MS driver as of 21/06/2006, but the problem persists. v.10.6.0.29 works since April without problem.

WLAN is not configured and therefore no IP address is passed through the router and the PC can't see the WAN, but VISTA the adapter needs to be on, if not, that it is qu' il se bloque blocks... fall time varies, sometimes it fails when connecting, others a few minutes after (a few times, it crashed when I accessed a SD card via a built-in player.

The crash isn't a total freeze, blue screen, no messages, nothing... Finally the laptop fan made in power until a max and I have to power down. The facility is clean, nothing else was installed as SP1 RC...

When I disable the driver in Device Manager, the machine freezes almost immediately, but when I restart the I need WIFI works without problem and the machine not crushed (so far anyway...)

Has anyone else noticed a problem with the 3945ABG chip? It's as if VISTA does not treat it as a plug n play... or the current drivers work well with the new SP1 USB drivers to level v. 6.0.6001.17128?

And Yes, this is the pre-release software, but it is very close to release...

To be clear on your questions: SP1 is just the beta version and it is not in official use. When the SP1 will be in official use that Toshiba will use it on recovery image. All problems must be fixed, probably using new and suitable drivers.

At present, it is not easy talking about this because there is no official solution.

  • Satellite L50-B916 - wireless connection problem

    Hello

I bought my Toshiba Satellite L50 B916 less than 6 months ago and had to download all the drivers for myself because for some reason, the operating system has not come with her.

Went to the site of TOSHIBA MEA to download and install the corresponding drivers.
    Downloaded the Atheros wireless driver.

Still, the Internet connection disconnects on my laptop, but works fine on other laptops and devices.
Not just a connection, all the ones I tried to connect to.

Tried to remove Atheros and re - install, it worked fine for a few days, but the connection disrupt again.

What should I do to solve this very annoying problem?

Hmm... made it happen using the laptop in battery or also while mode that the adapter is connected to the laptop?

It might be possible that the powers of WiFi, saving settings are enabled, and therefore stops the WiFi connection.

    Reach:
Windows power options - choose the right central - advanced power options.
Search of the WLan card settings and set it to "best performance".
You must also set the parameters for the PCI express for the 'best performance '.

In addition, go to the Device Manager. Choose here the Wlan card properties
Switch to the last tab called "Power Management" and make sure that the option available in this tab is not checked!
