  YEARS - Repeater is only supported on stand-alone design AP... In the MESH design, we use term Repeater, but its different compared to REPEAT what you're pointing to...

  YEARS - to get the REPEATER access point associated with the ROOT AP, you have to configure both the APs for identical parameters outside the period of INVESTIGATION and the role of the Station... so that they will combine. If the different SSID is configured the APs don't join.

• Wireless repeating with DG834 and D6200

  Hello

  I have a number of spare routers Netgear and I want to improve wireless in some areas of my property.

  I've considered using the D6200 with broadcast SSID disabled wireless base station and the wireless client access disabled.

  Securiyty must be turned off.

  I then wanted to take a couple of old DG834s and put in place in the relay, with the D6200 as the base station (the D6200 having their entries in the APs child table in the Station's basic config page).

  I wanted to then enable WPA - PSK on the DG834s in order to maintain security.

  This doesn't seem to work. The SSID of the DG834s is visible and I can enter the network password, but I can't get an IP address from the system (DHCP is disabled on all boxes I have a running separately in the network DHCP server).

  I can't use WPA - PSK on the DG834s Repeater? Is that why I can't I onnecter correctly?

  Or have I missed the point somewhere?

  I need help. I have an Arris wifi Modem (TG862) - recently installed when moving into a new House and the signature to the top for cable internet. I have a problem with weak wifi signal in the rear rooms - with signal drop. I have the spare WNDR3400V2 - so, how can I use it to boost my signal, preferably wireless? I have trouble to get the right settings when you configure as Repeater with different guides does not not exactly to my hardware. I don't have too much knowledge on this and how do it, but any help will be appreciated. The PC in the bedroom becomes signal well enough, I'm fighting to get compatible with phones wifi...

  In order to strengthen the signal on the desired location, run a long ethernet cable from the modem to the NETGEAR router.

  Still, there is no way for these 2 devices to be connected wireless to the other.

• Problems with getting WAP54g repeat (extend) wireless network

  At one of our offices, we have a Cisco ASA5505 firewall that has dhcp active. I have a WRT54G Router plugged into this active firewall with DHCP. The scope of our internal network is 192.168.51 *, but when it is connected to the WRT54G, it gives you the scope of 192.168.1. * We have an antenna amplifier screwed into one of the ports on the router antenna. This configuration all works very well.

  The problem is to install a WAP54G access point in a building on the property (picks up the signal fine wireless router) to repeat the signal wireless at the rear of the property where the router will not reach. I've read that all you have to do is type the routher wireless mac address in the access point and select "wireless Repeater". I have the channels set to 6 on both devices as well as the same security configuration.   I got it. I was working with security personal WPA2 on both devices. I removed the security completely and both devices connect then. I then used to fix, WEP. The two devices communicate with WEP.

• Repeater wireless WRT1900AC + USB storage device

  For my setup, I had to use this router in wireless Repeater mode and continue to share USB storage. To my surprise, I found that the USB storage function wasn't available anylonger as well as most of the other functions.   I won't go into the details on how to configure these modes in the TP Link router Nano as the manual does a great job.  One thing you must remember is that you must assign a static IP address on your wired Ethernet connection of computers to access the Web interface internal of the Nano.  The Nano is configured with an Ethernet cable at any time.  It's security that the router that has DHCP disabled so if you connect to a network, you won't crash it with an IP address conflict.  The Nano is powered by a USB cable and comes with a USB AC adapter too.

  The IP address of the Nano is default 192.168.0.254.  Set your computers Ethernet Port, adapter not wireless, a static IP 192.168.0.1, 255.255.255.0 DNS address.  You have to find a way to do it yourself, but it is explained in the manual and on the web for the operating system of your computer.

  This leaves your wired Ethernet connection to a static IP address and your adapter wireless DHCP.  Don't forget to put your wired to DHCP if you need to use it later for a wired connection.  Connect the Ethernet cable from your computer to the router Nano.

  Set up your browser by going to 192.168.0.254 (Nano IP address) in the address bar and you'll get the username and password login screen.  The default username and password is admin/admin, you can change it if necessary.

  Set the Nano bridged mode:

  Other modes will be mentioned later but for now; Bridge mode will serve as this isolates and creates your own SSID private the hotel/motel/dorm room open wireless network SSID.  In Bridge Mode you entrance and connect to the Rangoon SSID (paraphrasing) AND set up your own small network with your own SSID and password.  Your SSID will be separated and protected through WPA2-AES security that you set up.   You will be able to go online normally fine, but all of your devices will now connect to your private SSID.

  Example:

  Hotel SSID: HILTON Hotel Paraphrase and password: GUEST

  Nano SSID: MYNETWORK Nano Paraphrase/password: HP5514

  With this information, the rest is easy.  You set your SSID private and password first, they you must find and connect to the SSID and password hotels.  Simply click on the SURVEY button and a list of all available networks will be displayed along with their MAC addresses.  Find the network SSID, you want to connect (bridge) too and click on "connect".  Information is entered automatically.  I suggest that you also edit your channel wireless on a fixed channel as the 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto '.

  Save your settings and you will be told to restart the router.  Follow the instructions and always restart the router after any changes take effect.  This Nano restarts in 20 seconds approximately.

  Now on your computer when you scan available networks, you will see MYNETWORK.  Connect your computer to the SSID and enter your HP5514 password and you're on!  Start surfing or something else.

  Now, what about your printer?  The printer must be set to DHCP and assuming that you have a printer wireless with front panel:

  1. Go to (Assistant) wireless configuration screen.
  2. Search for available networks.
  3. Select: MYNETWORK
  4. Enter your password: HP5514
  5. To connect!

  In about 15 seconds, you're connected!   Oh, guess what?  The Nano has a WAN/LAN port and in Bridge mode, it is a LAN port that is connected to your network too!  Then plug into a printer/computer Ethernet cable, if you wish.

  Your printer will work as usual with no change at all.  I set up in my house to test and it connected perfectly to my HP5514 wireless printer.  All the tools, diagnostics, printer functions, alerts of ink were normal.

  You're done!

  The bottom can be used anywhere to create a local private network so that you and others can use your printer.

  Now, what about the changes?  If at home, you can use the Nano in Repeater mode to connect to your own network and extend the reach of all devices.  Even as the Bridge mode, but you're on your network using your SSID and the word normal, so everyone can use the printer.

  Don't worry what you heard with speed of execution of a router in Repeater Mode.  Most routers House when running in wireless Repeater mode should be set to no encryption or WEP only.  Here max speed is 54 Mbps.  This Nano turns at full speed of 150 Mbps in these modes, using the highest security WPA2-AES (personal).

  Remember that the size is small, so it's good to perhaps more than 50 feet.  HD video streaming was impeccable and surf watch video at the same time was perfect.

  I hope this help you when business or vacation.  Some hotels charge for EACH device connection.  With the implementation above, it takes only a charge for multiple devices, such as cell phones, iPads, light fires, computers or anything else you want to connect.

  EDIT - do not forget that this Nano device has an Ethernet connection that once configured, you can use to connect a wired computer or wired Ethernet printer.  It is a good radio your printer wireless doesn't have to convert a wired Ethernet wireless printer or if you want your printer to support greater security WPA2 wireless.

  So where can I get this repaired and how much will it cost?  After two hours on the Web, I came on this vacuum.  HP Partner Locator on the Web shows no repair facilities within 3000 miles, even though I live in St. Louis.

  HP has kindly offered to replace the printer for me, even if it's 4 months after the warranty period.  They offered me another model, but I chose one handed to nine, as the next model does not have the CD tray.  The framework is quite difficult to get.

  Here is the procedure.  First report of test of the wireless network.  Also print a status report.  You will need later, and there are chances that you might run out of ink while you run a test of HP.

  Pull the plug while the printer is on and plug end about 30-40 seconds.  This will reset the printer.  If this does not work, HP will you reset the printer setup and reset as a new printer.  You can't do it yourself, as it uses a lot of ink, and HP will probably ask you to do it again.  Be nice, but be prepared to spend hours on the phone with them.

  The other choice is to get an adapter wireless ethernet, sometimes referred to as a wireless hub (or a wireless Repeater).  It is a wireless receiver with one or more ethernet out ports.  You're on your own, but it should work for about $25 - $ 60.  I found the part HP (#1150-7931) for $80, but I'm thinking that it might fail once again, while the wireless card can be replaced separately, and it would be usable for other equipment.

Same SSID however, I turned wide dissemination. My office upstairs, I have wifi internet access very well and remain connected indefinitely. However, shortly after connecting to the Office VPN (off-site), the connection drops-both internet and VPN! I ran a loooong cat5 to the office on the floor and when it is connected to WAN I remains connected to two connections indefinitely. I do not have another AP, but I do not have a router Wireless G (WRT - 54G). Can I use this router as an AP, the same SSID, but I noticed on previous posts I should reactivate broadcast on all devices and change the channel settings. I noticed, when I went into the Setup utility 192.168.1.1, I access my netgear router, how to enter the Linksys router?

  Nothing beats an AP on the WRT mode. It's just connecting it via the main router LAN port, you can use the access point without going through the router within the WRT component.

  You will have to do exactly what I wrote. Don't change anything on the Netgear.

  1. disconnect your network WRT. Wire a single computer to a LAN of the WRT port.

  2. open the web interface of the WRT to http://192.168.1.1/ since the computer you plugged on the WRT.

  3. on the main change WRT configuration page the LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 and disable the DHCP server.

  4. save the settings. Unplug the computer.

  5. wire one of the LAN ports of the WRT to the Netgear. Do not use the internet port of the WRT!

  That's all. You don't change anything after that. It is the final configuration. You can now access the web interface Netgear http://192.168.1.1/ and the web interface WRT to http://192.168.1.2/

• Installation of Repeater WAP54G

  I have a WRT54G Router and it has been fine for years of work.  I have 2 wireless computers within 20 feet of the router and 4 others across the House.  I get a weak signal across the House, so I bought a WAP54G renovated in the hope of making a Repeater near these 4 devices for better reception.  I followed the instructions provided by Cisco for setting this up as a Repeater and read through most of the messages on this topic but no luck.

  I changed the MAC address of the WAP54G to the MAC of the router and changed wireless Repeater Mode.  I also left the IP address of the WAP54G as 192.168.1.245 but I do not see the Repeater at all from any computer.  I put the radio channel of the same (Ch6) but the SID is different.  The only way I can see the WAP54G is if I plug it directly into the WRT54G Router.

  The only thing I noticed in the instructions of Cisco is that they show a WRT54G Router wired to a WAP54G and WAP54G, then another at the other end of the facility with a computer cable attached to it.  Does this mean that you need two (2) WAP54G of this works?  I assumed that you need only one (1) WAP54G and one (1) router WRT54G with the WAP54G as repeaters.

  Can anyone help?  It's very frustrating.

  I was chatting with Linksys for over an hour and still could not get this to work.  I also scanned the internet for all the forums that I could find, and it seems that many people cannot get a WAP54G to work as a Repeater with a WRT54G.  I am convinced that it will not work.  I send my return WAP54G Monday and bought a place WRE.

  I have two routers WRT54GS. I want to thank my WiFi router connected to my upstream in the Office for a second router in the living room. I want devices configured for the SSID and password of my current WiFi (which is found in the office) to work seamlessly in the living room. I understand that I can do this by running a cable and Configuring Router 2 as a guest of Router 1 with Router 2 exposing the same SSID and passthrase on a different channel.

  But I really want to run a cable.

  There is a point where a customer sees the Router 1 where an AP would cover the living room.

  I put Router 2 right here, it have wireless as a client for Router 1 and have it display as an access point using the same SSID and password? Is this possible without wiring the router?

  You want a wireless Repeater. Routers Wireless Linksys do not work as repeaters. You must run a cable to connect the second WRT. And it would give you a much higher flow, too...
