Wireless router plugged into laptop, no activation

I have a 2000 HP 299WM laptop, recently had a Netgear n150 Wireless router WNR1000 plugged but I do not have the router enabled on my laptop.  Router is running, and the lap top but I can't unplug and use my laptop "wirelessly."  Trying to diagnose myself and I am told that there is a problem with the driver?  Help, anyone?

You can get the driver for the wireless card in the HP here...

Run a search on this... WNR1000 manual

It has instructions for setting up a Wi - Fi connection...

With respect to the sharing of printer (s), microsoft has a utility called 'Print Migrator'

Download & install, create copy, send a copy to the other pc to share its use.

  • is it safe to keep the power adapter plugged into laptop all the time?

I was constantly using a laptop Pavilion DV6-1230 we 5 years almost always with the power adapter is plugged in. I replaced the battery once. I was told yesterday that this isn't a good idea, because it can lead to a shorter battery hardware and life issues. We buy a new computer and want to know what is the recommended method for the use of current alternative with a laptop. Is always connected OK? Or we stop the computer at the end of the day? The power plug must be removed from the plug?  Appreciate the suggestions and recommendations on best practices in this case.

    Hello:

It is not a good idea to leave the power cable connected with the battery in the PC.

You should disconnect the power supply at least once a month even if you move the laptop, run Notepad as needed and let the battery drain down until you get the low battery warning.

    Then load it up.

  • Laptop (windows 7) doesn't recognize computer (XP) desktop network, but connects to the wireless router

I have two computers (desktop and laptop), a plug-and-play printer connected to the desktop computer and a wireless router.  My laptop was connected to the printer via a family group on the network connection.  I've recently upgraded the OS on my laptop from Vista to Windows 7 and now my phone does not even recognize the MSHOME network which was initially established.  I am able to connect to internet via wireless router (Verizon MIA 424 - WR... or something like that) but I can not connect to desktop files, devices on it and above all terribly printer.  What's weird, this is my office always recognizes my laptop and can even connect to my laptop from my desktop.  The network is established by the office which is running XP.  Not sure if this helps, but I remember when I set the laptop computer connection / original printer, I had to do a port mapping step funky.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  FYI, I did everything suggested by microsoft windows help.

I think you've got the third-party software installed on your laptop to configure the wireless adapter. Third-party software seems to have disabled the Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) Microsoft service. You will need to reactivate it.

Follow the steps below to activate the automatic configuration on your laptop.

    1. Click Start, click Run, type % SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc/s, and then click OK.

    2. double-click on Wireless Zero Configuration.

    3. in the startup type list, click Automatic, and then clickApply.

    4. in the Service status area, click Start, and then click OK.

Software configuration of certain wireless adapters removes the automatic configuration service. If this is the case, you can try this fix by changing the registry value.

WARNING: Editing the registry can be dangerous, use it at your own risk.

    1. click on start - run and type reg. And then click OK.

    2. browse this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE es\WZCSVC

    3. next, create a DWORD value and name it 'Start' and set it to 2.

  • Wireless router local only: Vista

Hello, I use Windows Vista on my laptop which has the feature integrated wireless. Today, I tried to set up a wireless router to my laptop so I can connect to the internet. I don't know what I can do to remedy the situation. Hopefully I can help. Thanks in advance!

Seem as if your router and modem do not communicate.  You mya need to reset your Motorola modem is back sink with your router.  First thing you can do is to go to the command prompt and do an ipconfig/release.  Then turn off your computer.  Once your computer is off, turn off your Motorola modem for at least 2 minutes.  Turn on the modem and the computer.  This should run your modem and router.

    Us how it goes.

  • 4600 pro connects to the Linksys WAG354 Wireless router!

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 with internal wireless card. I'm trying to connect to my Linksys WAG354 wireless router. The laptop seems to connect but only get a connection status ' Limited or no connectivity "note computer says it has problem because the network has not assigned a network address of the computer.

I called Linksys, but the call center do not have a lot of help! They said that I should update the driver for the Toshiba wireless... I did that, but still the same problem.

I am running windows XP. I have two other laptops connected to the router WAG354 and they work fine.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Hello

I agree with Michael. I think that some false setting is responsible for this. If your network is visible for the laptop, the features of the card are OK and the problem parameters.

  • Trying to install wireless router WRT160N

Here's my network setup: cable modem adapter VOIP phone to a wired router to 2 desktops

I plugged the ethernet cable from the modem cable in blue port 1 of the wireless router, plugged the blue cable on port internet and then connected to the WAN port on the VOIP adapter.  Also tried the reverse (ethernet cable to the Internet port, blue cable in port 1 and then to the WAN adapter VOIP port).  Or work of configuration and installation is not complete.

The configuration above puts the router in front of the VOIP wireless and wired routers.  Should I put the router wirelessly between the VOIP adapter and wired router or maybe AFTER the wired router at the end of the network?

I thought about it - the VOIP adapter must be first online... so now, my configuration is modem cable---> VOIP adapter--->--->---> computers wired router wireless router

Thanks for trying to help anyway!

  • Vista laptop can't see d-link wireless router but when can plug cable.

    Hello
I hope someone can help me because this has happened since Christmas. I bought my top girl and Tower of advent, which is about 2 years old. we can connect to the internet via the cable but not wireless as our router d-link (g-604 T) which is about 3-4 years of age does not appear on the list. Although the doors next on the list and they are with O2, we're with talk talk. All other laptops that we have under xp and windows 7 connections are very good and they can see the wireless router. I ran the compatibility tool and it says that the router has been supported by vista, so may not be the router that is not compatible. As I said that the router works fine with at least 3 other wireless PC, so it is impossible that the router is broken. I managed to get into the computers portable misconfig and it said there that the media has been disconnected anyone has any ideas on this thank you so any help would be appreciated. Maria 40.

    Hi Mark
I wanted to just say that I fixed the problem now and thank yu a lot for your help and the speed with which you answered my crisis, it was a relief just to have contact with someone who may be able to help me instead of banging me my head against the wall. !!
You won't believe this, but sentencing ends up being so simple, I could have screamed. I ended up ringing the d-link and the guy told me to change the channel on the router via my laptop from 13 to 1 and that's all I was standing and the laptop immediately met the router, I couldn't believe it, because I had tried out other channels, but not the channel 1. How crazy is that.
But thank you thank you, you have helped me load and I learned a lot. Best regards Maria x
