Why I can't find my network wireless on my XP laptop but can connect to my Vista laptop?

So here's my situation.

I have a small laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
I also have a laptop with Windows XP Service Pack 3 on it
We just moved into a new House.  In our old House we had DSL with wireless router and two laptops where able to see and connect to the network.
In our new home even company and probably even router if I'm not mistaken my computer Windows Vista laptop sees and connects to the wireless network.
However, the XP laptop sees about 10 networks wirelss in screen 2 wireless network connection, but not ours.
Here's what I've tried so far:
-Tried to restart the router
-Tried to restart the laptop
-Tried to update the drivers for the wifi
-Tried manually to create a wifi network of same name and enter the key
I'm really ideas, especially since he could see and connect the network in the old House 2 days ago.   So it comes even to see my wifi network listed may not even try to move on the part of tent to connect and enter the key.
Any help would be much appreciated and if someone needs more information let me know.

  • HP ENVY 17-j005tx Notebook PC: network card wireless Intel N 2230 sporadic but recurrent connection Wi Fi problems. Which driver to use?

I have an old HP Envy computer of 12 months with a 2230 Intel® Centrino® wireless-N wireless adapter.

In the last 6 months, the PC has suffered sporadic but recurrent problems of WiFi connection with the failure of the connection or drop-outs. The PC connects to the router, but fails to obtain or maintain an IP address. It has been with Intel driver version 15.12.0.6, pilot day February 25, 2014, installed by Windows Update, on June 16, 2014.

When I contacted HP support on January 9, 2015, I have been instructed to download the software from the HP Web site. This driver has an HP publication date of 1 November 2013 and installed the driver version 15.10.0.12 with a release date of June 25, 2013.

Updated Windows ran later that day there and I wanted to install the drivers updated Windows 8.1

    • Important update - update the Intel driver for Intel® Centrino® wireless-N 2230 published on 17/10/2013, 2.4 MB
    • Optional update - update the Intel driver for Intel® Centrino® wireless-N 2230 published 07/10/2014, 101.9 MB

If Windows Update has been set to automatic the provided HP driver would likely have immediately deleted by Microsoft update.

The Intel Web site offers the 15.14.0.1 or 15.14.0.2 driver version as the last driver for the adapter N-2230 but Intel "recommends obtain you and use the software provided by the manufacturer of your laptop. (even if it's more than a year to date)

It's very complicated to have the latest version on the Intel site, older versions installed by Microsoft Update and even older versions on the HP website.

If the user must install the OEM version, how the user to treat Microsoft Update overwriting the OEM version?

    Which driver should be used?

Why didn't the driver software HP Support was updated to resolve known issues with this wireless card driver?

HP would provide only a pilot who has been tested on the device that is installed on a particular type of material.

Intel would release the driver first, but then it would take some time for HP to the test pilot and release it to the public for use on their units. Some customizations can apply in order to get the driver to work on the material.

  • LJ 1536 and Wireless Bridge: prints and scans but lost connection Toobox ePrint

I connected my 1536dnf LaserJet recently purchased by the Ethernet cable to a bridge wireless to allow printing and scanning from my wireless laptop. It works very well. However, for some reason any communication is no longer with the printer through box HP tools or ePrint, who both worked very well to install. My router main displays the address IP of the LJ 1536 as a connected device. Somehow, the bridge becomes a way? There not at the beginning. Is there anything else that could prevent these kinds of communication but not printing/scanning? Is there a setting to resolve that I've not found? I tried to put the default gateway of the LaserJet printer for the IP address of the gateway instead of the router, but that did not help. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hey dako,.

I would bypass the wireless bridge to see if it is causing the problem. Let me know what you find?

  • Windows cannot find any networks, but Ubuntu can! (X 32 Vista Home Premium)

I recently replaced a faulty laptop computer mother board with an identical model (only difference is a newer version of the BIOS). After restarting Windows (Vista Home Premium 32 bit) I can't find the networks wireless where I can see usually eight networks at least an unsecured connection, but now I get nothing.

I replaced the wireless card Atheros with an Intel Pro 3945ABG driver and installed the latest version and that I still get the same error "Windows cannot find any networks", I can get access to the internet via an Ethernet cable but I am unable to connect wirelessly. If I try to manually configure the wireless connection, I get "unexpected error occurred".

I started the system from a CD of Ubuntu to check that it was not a hardware problem. Wireless card perfectly, sees all the networks, connects and works very well.

It seems that something inside Vista has failed since even change the wireless adapter for a different manufacturer and the results of the modeling in the same error, pointers?

  • Equium L350D - 11 d connecting to a network wireless after the factory restore

    Hello

Recently, I've restored my Equium to factory following a virus. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium and it is out of warranty.

When I try to connect to a network, it is said the computer does not have an installed and configured wireless network adapter. I recommend to install wireless networking equipment and checking that the correct drivers are loaded.

    How can I do this?

In the PC Diagnostic tool under network, he said: "Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI - E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0) version = 6.2"

However, in Device Manager, I also have a yellow exclamation beside an unknown device in the section "other devices." It's the only thing that has been highlighted with an exclamation point.

In the system information section, I found that the vendor for this product ID is 08DA and the device ID is 8197 (usb\vid_08da & pid_8197\00e04c000001). I don't know what it refers to, or why it prevents my find all networks.

Can you recommend what measures I can take, or divers you think I need to install to correct the problem. I guess I should save the drivers on an external hard drive?

    Thanks for your help.

It is really strange this unknown device is listed after recovery image installation. In General, recovery image contains all the necessary drivers, so something like this should not happen.

Open if please check and if Device Manager card Realtek WLAN is listed under network adapters.
According to specification for laptop, your laptop has wireless 802.11 network card g (RTL8187B) Realtek driver for this card, you can find and download from Toshiba WLAN portal - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/

    Hi @MaryamCD

Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I saw your post about wireless problems you are having with your Pavilion. Have you tried to connect to any of these other networks to make sure that your wireless network is able to connect and funtion correctly? In general, if you can see the other networks it could be something on the network at the origin of the problem. If you have not had the chance to unplug your wireless router and the model please do. Leave of them disconnected for 30 seconds, and then reconnect hide them in. Then see if you can see your network again.

What operating system do you use? What have listed it under network adapters in your device manager? What is the product number for your Pavilion?

  • Computer connects to the network wireless as "local only".

I am running Vista Home Premium SP2 on a HP Pavilion laptop.  I've never had any problems to connect this machine to a wireless network before, in hotels, at home, or anywhere.  My current home network is a modem - cable-> wireless-> wireless netgear n300 router.  My laptop connects to the internet via the modem cable directly or a wire from the netgear router.  I have a second, almost cell identical (it's intel, while the one who does not is AMD) which connects to the network wireless without any problem.  Two iphones connected wirelessely without any problem.  My HP laptop is the only one who refuses to connect to the internet.  Connected to the wireless network, it has access "local only".

I tried the solution in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233

The question does not seem to receive an ip address, the computer receives an ip address.  I have disabled the IP v6, ran the norton removal tool, because I only had to a point and tried all other suggestions in these discussions: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistanetworking/thread/0949042d-074e-43ab-ba95-3c06cc2aa6be and http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistanetworking/thread/bc08f0e7-49a9-4458-9e0e-149b2df362ec.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter and all TCP/IP and network protocols associated with it.  I am at a loss and would welcome any ideas.

If anyone has this problem, it has been resolved by rolling the security settings on the router WEP.  I got the answer from the support client netgear.

  • HP Photosmart C309a AiO Wireless on and work, can not find the network!

My printer has stopped printing a couple of days.  It was fine, now it is not.  The blue light wireless radio is turned on, but when I run the network set in place, it works simply and can not find my network.  I ran the network diagnostic and it detects my network, but can't find my printer.  On the test page, it fails on SSID.  I could use some help to get this operational back guys!  Thank you!

Well, I can't comment officially, but I'm sure that has been discussed in, and design changes avoid this problem.

Regarding something is through HP, you could call the HP Technical Support and check if you have options to upgrade to a new printer. They should have a list of printers and prices offered as part of the upgrade process. There is no charge to call and check the options you have. If you are in the United States, call the 1-800-474-6836. Otherwise, click on the contact HP link at the top of this page.

  • why I can't use my computer with wireless network key error?

I have tried everything to get this sorted subject and makes me crazy I can connect with THE yellow cable but looks a mess when I wireless I can see the wireless link, but I get an error message that reads

THE NETWORK PASSWORD NEEDS TO BE 40BITS OR 104BITS DEPENDING ON YOUR NETWORK CONFIGURATION, THIS CAN BE ENTERED AS 5 OR 13 ASCII CHARACTERS OR 10 OR 26 HEXADECIMAL CHARACTERS.

Make sure you have the latest Service Pack installed (SP3).

Go into your router and select Security WPA2-PSK(with AES) if it is available.  Secure your computer wireless properties select WPA2-Personal security type and select the type of AES encryption.

Enter your password for the router and use the same password when connecting with your computer.

Do NOT enable authentication IEEE 802. 1 x on your computer or the router.  In the router DO NOT select a type safety 'company '.  Company type safety requires authentication IEEE 802. 1 x and IEEE 802. 1 x authentication requires a radius server, these methods of authentication are used usually only in the business circles.

  • 4625 printer can't find my network SSID

    Hello

I tried for hours to set up my HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4625 to connect to my network without success.

When I run the DeviceSetup.exe I chose the option to convert the USB connection to my wireless printer, there, I have two options: leave the configuration of the network to retrieve the settings from my router or enter the settings manually. in both options, I do not see: in the automatic option, I can see that the details of my network (SSID, status communication, security and my password wireless, which means that the extraction has worked) acknowledged the wizard

but when I call to continue, it fails and it gives me the opportunity to print a newspaper for verification of wireless network (which I have attached here and you can see that he was unable to find the SSID). When I choose the manual option, I see all of my neighbors wireless networks, but not mine - again once he is unable to find my SSID.

before that I posted here, I looked and found this thread which describes a very similar problem:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/printer-networking-and-wireless/blinking-blue-light-wireless-button-and...

at the end of the thread, the expert wrote:

    "This is a behavior.

When the printer is installed on a computer that is connected to the same wireless network, the software is supposed to shoot this computer network information (ssid, password, etc.) and send it to the printer that allows him to connect the same way the computer has.

When you install the printer from the previous post, was it be reinstalled using a computer connected to the same wifi?  The reason why I ask, is that behavior you mentioned is not supposed to happen when the computer is on the same wifi network.

Try to reset the router by pulling on the power cord for 1 minute and then reconnect it and in the meantime for the lights return to normal before continuing.  It is possible that the router stopped broadcasting the SSID, but computers can connect again because they have the stored SSID. »

all my devices (except the printer) recognize my network SSID, I turned on and turned off the SSID option radio, disconnected my router from the power for more than a minute, even changed my SSID name - nothing has worked.

I tried two different laptops and on both I get the same behavior so it is certainly not a computer problem (both run windows 7 64-bit).

    Help, please.

    Thank you!

    Maor

Well, after 2 hours on the phone with a very nice technique of HP support representative, she was able to prove that the problem is my router by connected the printer to a network of HP... I connected an old router instead of the mine and the walla - problem solved. She gave a list of ports to open and change definitions but nothing worked, but at least I know that the problem is not the printer.

Thanks a lot for your help!

  • NB200 can connect to wireless networks, but cannot connect to the internet

I could connect my Win XP netbook to my network wireless secured to the House, other networks and public networks such as the library and McDonald's. This week, I am away from home and discovered that while I can still connect to a number of different wireless networks, I can't connect to the internet with Internet Explorer.

I had this problem once before and fixed by reinstalling Windows XP and all my other software. I have no idea why it happened again. I'm hoping for a less radical solution to the problem... ?

    Hello

You can try to renew the IP address.
Got to RUN and type CMD.
This would start the console (DOS window)

Here, you use the command: ipconfig / renew

It s also advised to update the Wlan driver. I've noticed some problems with older drivers for Wlan

    Hey Buddy,

What is your WiFi card listed correctly in the Device Manager? Perhaps only the driver must be reinstalled and then you can use the internal WiFi card again. Here you can download the latest drivers:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

By the way: what OS are you using? If you install OS preinstalled Toshiba using the Toshiba recovery disc are all the drivers already installed, and you should be able to use the internal WiFi card.

  • Satellite A100-495 - Intel 3945abg wireless network card cannot find wifi networks

    Greetings,

I have some problems with networks wireless on my laptop Satellite A100-495.

The problem is: my wireless adapter (intel / pro 3945abg) doesn't seem to find wireless networks. If I portable place very close to my router wireless (such as 1 m) - connection can be established. If I move away (~ 5 m)-no connection or 'very bad' quality and constantly broken. Other notebooks I've tried still have "very good" quality at the same range.

This happens with other routers as well. And I can not any sign of wi - fi in my Uni (my colleagues have no problem with their machines).

I tried to play up with some parameters. Reinstalled adapter. Downloaded the latest drivers. Nothing helps.

A tip? Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Something like that happened to me a long time ago.
I used the Wlan configuration option to own Windows. For several months, I use the Intel Proset configuration utility to establish the WiFi connection!
    It works!

In addition, I have disabled the power Wlan option in the Wlan card properties save and adjust the intensity of the signal at top. I remember, in the advanced properties, you can find the 802.11 option preamble. The value is Long and short on my laptop.
