With 0124 disk error disk failure...

My Dell Latitude fell to the ground, and now it is not booting.  I run diagnostic and it can not find the hard drive.  I removed the hard drive twice and put it again.  And always get the same error.

Please help... What do I do now...

You need to replace the hard drive with a new - your current drive was destroyed in the fall.

    Replacement hard drive is shown on page 36 of the manual. Your laptop, plug, came with a disk 5400 RPM 500 GB. This model uses 7mm superslim hard drives is as well as what you buy. There are also options for a solid m2 or normal size state drive solid state SATA drive as a replacement for the mechanical drive slow 5400 RPM. In other words, it would be the perfect opportunity to speed it up a little.

    It would be a 7200 RPM mechanical drive of 500 concerts and would be a good replacement at low cost:

  • Dell xps 8100; Disk failure hard error 2000-0142 0 self test status 79

    Hi guys, I was wandering in the forums for a few hours, now looking for ana response to this question, and can't find anything clear. I have a XPS 8100 that I run a diagnostic and received a 2000-0142 error code that says MSG: error code 2000-0142 hard drive FAILURE 0 self-test status: 79 based on what I read in the forum is that there is a disk failure, and the only recourse is to solve the problem in my view is to replace the drive. Firstly, can someone please give me an absolute confirmation that it is indeed what I have to do, or is there something else I should do to fix this problem first? If a replacement drive is there someone could please tell me how can I do to get my OEM software off the coast of the partition recovery and on my new drive. I now office preinstalled and, of course, premium Windows 7 I would like to see on my new hard drive and I was not provided with one of the disks at the time of purchase. Thanks in advance to all those who respond

    Hi XPS8100kid,

    Welcome to the Dell Community Forum.

    The 200-0142 error is for hard drive failure and you need to replace the hard drive.

    Since the hard drive has not, you would not be able to access the partition recovery on it. Data would be lost and the software already installed on your computer will need to be reinstalled.

    Windows 7 will need to be installed on the new hard drive. Please click the link below to get the procedure of re - install Windows 7.

    Hi there @Brugalgirl

    Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that your computer does not start successfully, and you found a Smart Drive 301 error code. I'm happy to help you with this.

    I checked the ID of the failure, you've posted and verifies that the error. Unfortunately, this means that your hard drive needs to be replaced.  In view of the fact that the system does not boot, it is likely that the hard drive is completely unreadable, but depending on what you have on this subject, it may be worth your while to check with a local computer service shop and see if they can help to recover data from your hard drive.

    If your system is relatively new and may be covered by the warranty, or if you wish to fix with HP for the guarantee system, you can call in hotline to make these arrangements. In this case, please use the following http://www.hp.com/contacthp and create a folder for your question and contact HP. If you do not live in the United States / Canada, please click on the link below to get contact information for your region.
    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/contact-HP/WW-phone-assist.html

    Otherwise you can look at a replacement hard drive yourself. If you have a set of recovery media, then you already have a factory image HP, which allows you to put in place a new hard drive with your original operating system. If is no longer, you have a set or did not have a set of recovery media, so you can see if there are not yet available for your model.

  • Impossible to fill out the case of the composer from vm - hot add disk failure

    The snapshot that depends on the pool has been published on the forwarding server and comes to 2.9 GB. He could not be connected, but the extraction of the VM based on that snap fails 3.0 GB on the 3.7 GB the customer view says he has to download

    The virtual machine with the snapshot is windows XPSP3 on hardware v7 with vmdk stocked thickness 1.

    The composer generated obtained vm controller buslogic scsi parallel and 3 thin provisioned vmdk added to chain SCSI 1 to account for the persistent drive of the composer and the disposable disc over the virtual machine swap file.

    The composer added 3 discs would explain the remaining space, that the customer has left to check.

    It is a requirement. Transfer server THAT VM needs to access the desktop under transfer disks. in other words, host th transfer server running vm must be able to access disks of office under body.

  • ASM Diskgroup with 1 disk? Is this possible?

    setenv ORACLE_SID + ASM

    SQL > startup nomount
    SQL > create diskgroup data disk ' / dev/dsk/c0t5d1s4 ";
    SQL > shutdown immediate
    SQL > startup mount

    ^^
    I saw once on the google site a syntax as above. I was under the assumption that, for alteast disks 2 ASM are required (assuming normal redundancy); But here we can see one disc is defined.

    Sorry, I don't have an ASM Setup to test this, so would you need advice from people.

    By default, ASM tries to create a normal redundancy disk group. Therefore, he expected to have at least 2 groups of disks.
    But yes, even with one disk, you can create a disk group, but you must expressly state that it will be external redundancy.

  • Need help with replacement disk on port 0 in Raid1 desktop machine

    I have a HPE 380 t. I have has a RAID1 (mirror) with 2-500 GB Western Digital. When I boot it says the raid has deteriorated and an error has occurred on the player connected to port 0, port 1 player shows ok. It's in the Manager of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, (Ctrl + I on startup). The machine starts again, but I want to replace the drive on Port 0 with another disk of 500 GB.

    How can I go on that so I don't toast all data on the drive Port1?

    I searched links and other places for help on this but nothing helps! Is there a tutorial or step by step instructions somewhere that I can go?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Mike,.

    Lucky for you that you are using non-RAID 0 and RAID 1 or your table would probably unusable.

    You can determine the status of your RAID configuration using the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) software.  If you do not have this software on your PC, then you can Download IRST from the Intel web site.  I recommend that you use the latest version available from Intel.  General information can be obtained from the TSRI User Guide.  When you launch TSRI, help topics are an excellent source of information.  You can access TSRI by going to the control panel and select Intel Rapid Storage Technology. You can also access TSRI from low location of the taskbar.  TSRI should resemble a hard disk icon and it normally has a green check mark.  By default, TSRI is defined as delayed start, so don't expect to see active immediately.

    1. Launch the IRST while under Windows
    2. Click Help
    3. Click on troubleshooting
    4. Click on gradient volumes and follow the recommendations. Scroll to RAID 1.
  • My pcdid not equipped with any disk but has a recovery partition. How can I get vista to reinstall

    can I burn the recoery CD?

    Read the General information below on the recovery of Partitions and recovery discs and contact the manufacturer of your computer.

    How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    You can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their way of doing recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
