  We use SRM 5.1 with replication of vSphere.

  I'm trying to get a rough idea of how long a reprotect operation would take after a failover, especially synchronization of storage.

  The full synchronization bed basically just for the disk data and checksum data. It also makes requests to read the data and return a set of checksums remotely. He would only send the data if the checksums do not match. Thus, assuming that not many disk changed, there is very little except checksum travel over the network. So you will respect especially how fast you can read files vmdk on both sites and to a lesser extent by the latency of the network between the sites, and, of course, if the link between the sites remains upward.

  If I remove all my proxy settings in Internet Explorer, then it connects fine but this script must be run by a number of engineers without being dependent on their proxy settings are disabled.

  I can programmatically change the settings of proxy at the beginning of the script, but nothing not preventing to change those back if they use their browser and break execution of the halfway of script.

  Never had any problems with the Proxy settings before and I didn't know any other messages that have directly relevant air.

• cloneVMTask with storage DRS - vSphere SDK 5

  I am trying to find a way to specify a group of data store (storage module) when you create a new virtual machine using cloneVMTask.  Before vSphere 5, we will have to specify a data using the VirtualMachineRelocateSpec store.  Now, we want to specify a data cluster store, but if I put the storagePod MOR in the VirtualMachineRelocateSpec I get an invalid parameter error.  Perhaps with vSphere 5, there is a new way to do this?  Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

  BTW, I looked at using a StoragePlacementResult of recommendDatastores, but I don't know how to use to create a cloned virtual machine.

  RecommendDatastores() http://Vijava.sourceforge.NET/vSphereAPIDoc/Ver5/ReferenceGuide/Vim.storageDrs.StoragePlacementResult.html is the new API method to create a VM on a store of data cluster, you cannot use the CreateVM_Task() method. If you take a look at storageSpec , it accepts properties very similar to CreateVM_Task() and there is a podSelectionSpec that will allow you to specify the Cluster specific data store. The result of the method is StoragePlacementResult , which can include tasks, the drsFault or the recommendations in the case where your DTS configuration is not set to automatic.

  I'll try to find something this weekend if I get the chance to show you how it works.

  1. I have a virtual machine with only one disc that is shown on 2 different data stores. If I look through the models and virtual computers, I see only 1 vm. If I look through the data warehouse screen, I see it in the store data-002 and 003-store data. If I go to the settings of the virtual machine on the datastore-002 and check the disk, I see the path in the store of data-003.

  How can I fix?

  I have 2 6500ES and 1 6100XS used by 8 ESX hosts approximately 130 virtual machines running.  Performance is important, but I migrated just my MD3000i data on the 6500's, so I already see an improvement... the SSD is impressive.  :)

  I have 3 questions

  1.) can I do 1 pool or 2?  I currently have them in 2 pools, however, I wonder if just do 1 pool and let the faders EQL to load all the work assumes that do it for me... I don't want to have to check the use of the e/s between the basins as I went and manually or using DRS storage so I don't have to. E/s of store DRS requires turning on storage i/o control, which is not recommended according to practice Documentation best EqualLogic VMWare - I'm guessing that because it could hinder the decisions of swing for the loading of the SAN.

  I think I read that best practices says 2 pools, but I don't know if it takes 3 hybrids account.

  Re: 1. I suggest that keep you in the two pools.  Only because of the difference in size between the 6500's and 6100 s.   You could go to 3 swimming pools, but they run you the risk of having to move virtual machines to balance IO.

  Re: 2. I'll try also turn off RSO, great Recieve Offload.

  Re: 3 upgrades.  E/s low means when the table is not widely used.  So yes, a low e/s of SANHQ reading would show that.  If your company is not active 24 x 7, so it's normal after hours time span weekend.   Most important is giving the login_timeout 60 ESXi servers and by setting the disktimeout value to 60 in virtual machines.  With the recent firmware the time required to failover and early response is usually less than 30 seconds.  But not always, one may be closer to 60 seconds under load.  It is also essential to ensure that the switch ports happen immediately on the transition.  (AKA portfast)   This way when the CM goes down, the ports are online immediately.    In addition, to be able to handle a FW update also means you can manage a CM failover on a HW problem.

  Disc FW updates.   Yes.  The updates take place one disc at a time.   Then, the player is power rolled, to update the FW.   That time is very fast, and single e/s to this player is paused, then resumed once the player comes back online.   But again, the best time is low i/o.

  In a perfect scenario, yes make upgrades in a window of Maint would be ideal.  At least stop the virtual machines.   In this something unexpected occurred offshore lucky.

  As far as I KNOW NO, wine is powered by VMware tools and collects the details of the virtual machine when you add the vCenter to wine.

  I need assistance with resource pools. Currently I have them all together for:

  • unlimited

  for the CPU and memory. I tried without reserve and with reservations, and it is indifferent to the result.

  I'm running a server SQL2008 (2 * vCPU, 3.5 GB of RAM) which is pretty hard. and from time to time the cpu usage spikes to 100% (6 GHz) and saturate at this time here. When I go to the graphs of the ESX host, I see up to 3 physical processes responsible... and all the others are dormant...

  I'm working on why he no longer not affected resources of the ESX host.   Yes, assign you a resource equivalent to a virtual machine to the host.  Therefore, if you assign 1 vCPU which is equivalent to a unique Jepp on the host computer in the slot.

  No. a resource pool is on a cluster, but VM inside this POOL can only use a single host resources.  The case is from ESX can use DRS to load balancing force of the VM, the pool determines the overall consumption and that you assign VM accordingly.  But ESX is not yet there to physical resource take other hosts.  What ever host is on, it is that the only place these resources can be achieved.

  What process the SQL 2008 taking up the CPU process?  I think it's SQL Server, in which case it is not that you can do.  One of the reasons that I discourage using VM for SQL, SQL works not virtualized.

  We go 2 groups in the near future to achieve a geographical distance between the 2 sites.

  A cluster is equipped with VMware 5.0 replication SRM and vSphere and the other cluster running VMware 5.5 and SRM in combination with replication of vSphere.
