  Sorry, this is not Microsoft.  This is a public forum from user to user hosted by Microsoft on its servers for the comfort of its clients, and we all here are volunteers.

  You say you use XP.  What is your question?  What do you mean 'conflicts with Vista?

  I suggest recovery discs you order from HP for your computer.  If HP is no longer the issue of stocks you can order such a third of Recovery - Disks.com.  There are several of these companies.  If you are going to use XP, you need to install XP from scratch and this means that you need XP drivers for your brand and model.  If HP has no XP drivers on your computer you must not try to use XP on it.

  Remember that Vista Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate out of Microsoft support on 10 April and there will be more updates, including critical security patches after that date.  Only Vista business and company will continue to receive updates.  You might consider this a good time to upgrade to Windows 7.  You must download and run the Windows Update Advisor once you restored Vista successfully.

  I just tested the installation program and it works fine. Please check if you have a universal print driver installed on your machine. If you do, then I suggest this uninstall, reboot and try again.

  You can check to see if you have the driver installed by accessing your print server properties, click the driver tab and see what drivers are installed.

  Hey, my friend gave me his L350-145 (PSLD0E-00U00YGR) to reinstall Vista, because the system was full of Ad - and malware.   I created a 32-bit Vista installation DVD, following a Step - by Step Guide without any problem and formatted the drive using "Partition Wizard". 80 GB primary NTFS 'SYSTEM' and 2 logical NTFS. I reboot the system with the Vista DVD in the drive and "Windows loading files...". "- the screen apears. Installation of Vista starts propper and I select the country and language. Insert-Windows-key-screen appears and I start to type in the key. The screen turns to black and colored stripes and the system hangs or suddenly reboots without any promt somewhere on the way. It does the same thing after a few moments, if I not touch anything after the "Windows loading files...". ' - screen.

  I checked the BIOS settings, everything seems to be in order.
  I took the DVD from the drive and waited for the "no boot device" - screen for a gel or a reset... nothing.
  I started "Partition Wizard" and waited... nothing.
  This only happens after you start the installation of Vista... sooner or later.

  I'm at the end of my know how.

  For me, this looks like hardware problem. Something like GPU overheating or something like that.
  Of course I can't say it for sure.
  All you can do is make some small tests to see what happens and try to find out what could be the reason for this.

  Windows-old fighter you can test with, for example from another version of Windows. Try to install Windows7.
  If possible try to speak with your friend and get another HARD drive. You can try to swap the HDD and check if the same thing will happen again.

  Recently, I've been fixing a few problems with the OS (Vista 64 Home Premium) on my computer (HDX 1180ew). In an e-mail message containing a solution of possible problem, Microsoft support person suggested that it would be desirable to run the File Checker system (sfc/scannow command) that she "raise" files broken system, the restoration of their correct versions.
  Unfortunately, the SFC requires a DVD to be present in order to restore the Vista installation files. I got my computer with preinstalled operating system and do not have this DVD.
  Is there no workaround solution allowing to launch SFC and repair system files? Maybe HP recovery disks can contain files needed?

  Yes, you will be fine without the disc.  It will not mess up your installed programs/system config... It simply scans your Windows files to ensure that they are not corrupted... then replace / repair of damage files it finds.

  You understand that you will not be able to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7?  He will have to do a clean install.

• KB952287 is a problem with the module installer and will not install, error code 800706BE

  Hi, I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 1520 with Vista Home Premium. I'm having problems installing SP1 and have identified that one KB952287 that causes the problem. The update causes exactly the same problem. While installing the update, an error message appears that says "Module of Windows Installer has stopped working and needs to close", then the updater freezes and never completed the update.
