WMC won't play movies/videos in a desktop session remotely

I just got my connection Remote Desktop works between my server Media Manager (Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit w/Media Center) and my laptop (Windows 8 Pro 64 - bit w/Media Center).  I can remote desktop on the server and the files and applications, of course.

My main reason is to run the WMC (Windows Media Center) for watching movies & videos, see photos and listen to music.  My first attempt is through my house Wi - Fi system.  The music, the functions of images work fine, but when I go to the video or the movies menu items, I get a message that videos cannot be considered in remote mode.

WMP (Windows Media Player) plays videos, music and pictures with no problems.   While the same videos and my DVD collection will not.

What can I do to fix this?

Well Yes.  been like this for always. We were told years ago 'by design '. MS wanted people to use the Media Center Extender units to take advantage of the WMC remote interface. Users asked a computer Extender and MS say no (by not putting implement this). As you know, you can not open DRM would be content using the Windows Explorer, including videos. Sorry to be the Messenger (again) with bad news.

  • Difficulty playing the video in the Desktop Application

    Hello

I'm playing two H.264 encoded (.mov) videos in a desktop AS3 application. I tried publication Air and projector, but both have (different) problems with playback. When you test the SWF in Flash, both work very well.

I use a simple NetStream function to play videos from a local directory. As I have said, that they both will work perfectly in Flash, so I feel like I'm missing something obvious, but have struggled to find documentation on the streaming locally.

The application of Air works better, but can't seem to play the second video. (I have also had terrible evil to do around from safety of Air that I use LocalConnection in another part of the application, so prefer not to use it).

The projector starts to play the two videos but soon began to stammer and choke and eventually freezes the entire application.

The Adobe documentation states that it is possible to use NetStream locally, but maybe that's not the case?

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you

    Maryann

I think you started the right way - there is no reason to suspect that this problem would exist initially. I don't have a direct solution for you, but I find that it is useful for creating small samples of what is the problem and suggest trying the following...

Create a simple SWF file that only charge & play video. Do nothing else in this file (in the unlikely event that something else is affected video playback) and then display them in the projector and the way air.

Also, just try to use the video component included in another simple example and see projector/air, just to see if you encounter the same problems of reading. If you do, I had initially suspec something on your computer system compared to Flash.

I have not ran across, or noted problems such as this, in which controlling loading/video using the NetConnection and Netsrream classes... I've done a few projects with H.264 videos, but they weren't in the format MP4, MOV (I guess that there should be no difference in reading, however).

One last thought - what is the data rate you have compressed your videos? If it is really high (2 megabits per second), maybe it is too much tax on your system (and is too high for the general display broadband, anyway).

  • Why the latest Firefox won't play YouTube videos

Everything worked fine until the latest version of Firefox, now I can't play YouTube videos. No problem with Chrome or IE. Firefox screwed up something with their latest version. Problem started on 09/03/15.

    1) enter the config by typing about: config in the address bar.
    (2) enter media.mediasource.webm.enabled press ENTER.
    (3) make a right click on it and change to true, for some reason any, defined as 'false', which makes the MSE & WebM VP9 does not work correctly.
    (4) visit: https://www.youtube.com/html5 and check that everything is OK.
    (5) tries to watch a video. It should work now.

  • Firefox 7 won't play YouTube videos

Running Win7 x 64. Upgrade to Firefox 7, then YouTube videos stopped playing. YouTube keeps insisting that I have to install the latest flash player, what I've done several times ("install_flashplayer10_mssa_aih.exe" and "install_flashplayer11x64_mssa_aih" versions), clear cookies, restart and all that crap. Firefox refuses to play YouTube videos. Internet Explorer 9 (x 64) plays great YouTube videos. Don't use Firefox more. You've got to SUPPORT your application instead of users leaving Wade. It is also why I HATE the upgrade. It causes too often new incompatibilities when I just want to leave what works, the hell alone.

    The Adobe forum, someone suggested

       * go to http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550 and
             o download the 64-bit uninstaller
             o download the 64-bit installer
       * close all browser windows, then run the downloaded uninstaller
       * restart Windows
       * delete any remaining files in
             o C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
             o C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash
       * now run the downloaded installer

It still does not work. Then someone else said to install the ActiveX Installer, I found somewhere online.

THEN finally it worked. But I still don't understand why I have to jump through additional hoops, which are not explained in the first place-YT says I need to upgrade (even if my old machine W2k with FF 3 and Flash 10 works fine), I click on the link on YT taking me to Adobe, I download and install like lead instructions , but it does not work. Why didn't ActiveX installs as well as the installer of Flash if necessary?

I assume you mean WTV and not the WMV files? Likely the reason is that the adapter
questions of cable is not HDCP compatible. (Rules of DRM Media Center
    apply).

Media Windows Player does not support the .mov file format.
Go on the web, google for a FREE video converter.
Use the converter and modify the video .mov to WMV.
    Play again. Should work now.

    What Miss me?

Thank you for using communities of Apple support, Cosman.

Your post, Safari will play is no longer videos using Safari on your MacBook Pro on OS X 10.11. It also seems that it is a recent development, so we'll get it working again.

Install and manage extensions Safari on your Mac - sometimes an extension may be the culprit. Disable the extensions you have installed for Safari, quit Safari and test. If it works again, turn on an extension at the same time, then exit and restart Safari to find what the cause of the problem.

Update the software on your Mac - Make sure that your Mac is up = to = date with everything.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not start -even if the start up your Mac, safe mode will not fail it starts successfully.

    I hope this helps!

  • V27, 27.1, won't play YouTube videos. Even in safe mode

I can't watch videos on my default browser, the latest Firefox v 27. I think that I am not alone in this.

I do not have the latest versions of Flash Player, Real Player, and Javascript is enabled (not java)

I found it first in the videos of my favorite site of cats (cheezeburger..), but I just find that it comes up with videos of Serif community more. Video accessed via FP work, even when the so-called YouTube (clicked)

Work live YouTube videos, but not the videos of YouTube accessible via cheezburger links.

These defects occur only in Firefox 27 and videos play OK in Maxthon 3, (Chrome and Opera - the last time I checked). I know that you do not recommend this but can tell you exactly how to reload the previous version of Firefox, V26 - I had no problem with that.

I tried to run FF27 in safe mode, no effect. I don't want to lose the different add-ins I use, if I don't want to reset to the factory settings.

    I think is not necessary.

Click with the mouse right button on the Bookmarks box or in the bar (press F10 or alt to see the title bar) title, and then click Customize

Then drag the address located above the tabs of stripe bar and.

Go to Subject: config search browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab change itsvalue false

  • Firefox won't play .ogv video files when loading a server. Does anyone have answers will fix this?

I read the suggestions to resolve this, and none of them work. I've updated my .htaccess to match the MIME types for .ogv, I downloaded the binary files and ASCII, neither method works. The .ogv file plays well when you load from a local file, but it will not play seen from a remote server. I confirmed with my hosting company the .htaccess and other issues for HTML5 are up-to-date. Safari and Chrome play the HTML5 videos very well, but not Firefox. Does anyone have concrete answers as to what is the problem. I also use .webm and .mp4 video files, but none of these formats work in Firefox either.

I pestered my hosting a bit more and told them that all topics help here said it was a hosting problem. They double-checked and did a little work on their end, and * voila *, everything works fine now!

The bottom line advice: Pester your hosting service to solve this problem!

  • Media Center won't play recorded video

All my recordings are protected recorded video HBO on my hard drive of the PC. When I read them to my PC using Windows Media center only monitor, all play. When I use a USB to HDMI converter directly to my TV, some of them play, but some give me the error "display drive errors: video playback device does not support protected content playback. Since it is a direct connection to my TV from my PC where are stored the videos, I don't understand why this is not allowed. Is anyway to get Media center to recognize this device? Is there another device that works? This can be corrected. Do I have to use an Extender?

Charles, I looked towards the top of the map that you said that you used in the first thread you
started earlier this month. There is no indication that
    HDCP is consistent.

I read a few pages of the magazine for this device on Amazon. Most people
who looked at it to use it as a monitor. A few people mention a message
    not HDCP.

I don't have any other "answer" for you. I'm sorry.

  • Why won 't play my video files on my Macbook.

I searched on the web and all sorts of forums about this. All I've found is to download this and that, but I still cannot play video files that I made on my Moto Droid on my Macbook. I downloaded VLC as most of the post suggests, but still no luck. I would really like to show my vids on my Macbook... any help would be appreciated.

Excellent, only glad it worked. If you don't mind, you will mark this thread "answered" and mark my answer as the correct answer?
