Word 2000 does not not in Vista
After you download SP3 for office 2000, used the optimizer and cleaner registry Sammsoft. Always get the message no answer in Word. All other Office 2000 programs are working well. Tried other UN and re install several times.
You should never use Registry cleaners.
It is not necessary in Vista.

Microsoft Word does not when you use the Windows Vista operating system.
After searching the forums, I tried to solve the problem. I reloaded office. I've run TWO classified by support service options:
Reinstall or repair OfficeThis procedure detects and repairs problems associated with the Microsoft programs installed Office, such as the registry settings and the installation files missing. This procedure does not repair personal files, such as worksheets or of models.
You can run Detect and repair using one of the following methods.Method 1
1. in the menu helps in any Office program, click detect and repair.
2 click Start.
To restore the shortcuts to programs in the Windows Start menu, make sure that the Restore my shortcuts by repairing check box is selected.Method 2
1 double-click on Add/Remove Programs in control Panel.
2. double-click the Office 2000 entry listed in the Add/Remove Programs dialog box.
3. click on Repair Office.
4 click Reinstall Office or repair in the Office installation errorsand then click Finish.
None of those attempts fixed the problem.
Excel, PowerPoint, etc all work fine. My workstation with Windows XP works fine. But the attempt to load of Office on my computer with Vista Home Premium version 6.0 Build 6001 SP 1 is where I'm having the problem.Word loads without the menu bar on top, just a white sheet. If I try to open a document existing or trying to create a new. And it does not.
Please let know us if there are other steps I can take to address the issue.
IS THERE A SERVICE PACK DOWNLOAD AVAILABLE FOR THIS IN ORDER TO ALLOW COMPATIBILITY?

Installation and first run of the FF, I get a collection box that is displayed for about 5 seconds after the program loads and displays the first screen. It obviously requires a response, but it contains no words. The box doesn't cause any Word show either. the screen takes over and no other button cannot be clicked: I have a hardware failure on FF.
Empty the gray bar, box, box white, question mark?
This irritating box was related to an add-on for AOL. In order to remove the extension of the problem, you will probably need to start Firefox in Safe Mode so that it does not work.
You need to close Firefox anyway, you can, for example:
- ALT + F4
- Right click of its mosaic on the taskbar > close all windows
- (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) Task Manager
To start Firefox in Safe Mode, hold down the SHIFT key while double-clicking the shortcut.
A small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not update).
Then you can go to the Add-ons page using either:
- CTRL + SHIFT + a
- "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right, locate AOL.
A little luck?

Portege 2000 does not work with SP1 or SP2 & SD card problems
Hello!
I have some problems with my Portege 2000.
1. I had to run Windows XP without Service Packs and updates, because when I install SP1 or SP2 for example, the Portege does not start after that (white screen). The laptop starts only in Mode safe so I can uninstall the Service Pack and it works again. What can I do?2. I also have problems with the SD card slot. Host and card drivers are installed properly. I tested it with a 128 MB and 512 MB SD card-> works very well. But readers don't read my 2 GB card. Is the controller too old to work with more than 1 GB card?
Thanks for the help and sorry for my English :)
Hello
1.) Please check the document on the page of the Toshiba driver on the SP2 updates. It seems that you need to update some drivers and tools
2.) Yes, it seems that the SD controller cannot manage a larger SD card sizes. In this case, you will need to use an external solution.
Buy a mulitcard reader and connect it to the USB port. This player are cheap one should support several types of cards and sizes -
Satellite P300D-15O - display drivers does not-XP/Vista
Hi all
After buying this Satellite P300D-15O tried several times the reinstallation of operating systems: Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista x 32 and x 64 version, but does not display drivers offered by Toshiba downloads: it runs only the Windows standard vga drivers after you have installed and not working drivers for AMD/ATI HD3470.
Max resolution is 1152 x 864. The laptop has been pre-installed with Vista Home Premium and good work and resolution of 1440 x 900 ATI drivers; but I want a new installation on my own without any addition of pre-installed software from McAfee/Google etc - The Toshiba telephone Customer Service can't help for this problem, they have NO answer, :(! Is there a solution with the inf files? Can anyone help!
THX, endo
Hello
In my opinion, make you a huge mistake. Laptop with factory settings is perfect set up and all hardware components are working properly. OK, I understand you don't want to use some additional preinstalled software, but you must understand that you don't have to do it.
I have absolutely the same option about it than you and the first thing I did with my Satellite P200D is to remove all the software, I don't want to have installed on the system.
You can do the same thing. Go to the control panel > programs and features and then remove all the additional software. Later, install your favorite software and be happy with it.
I do the same thing. Why install OS Vista own especially if you ve already paid for a Vista license. What do you think of this?

Satellite Pro L40 - wireless adapter does not work - Vista
I recently had some problems with my laptop.
A couple of weeks, I put in a disc of OpenSuse.
It's not stable anything, but locked me out of my original Vista operating system.I reinstallled Vista Home Basic, but there are a few problems.
Mainly, my wireless adapter does not work. When I flip the button to turn it on nothing happens and it is not recognized in Windows.
I installed Atheros Driver, but still nothing happens, light is not yet.Any advice?
Hello
First check the device-> network adapters area manager
You see the WLan card? Or the unknown device appears? If there is an unknown device, then the WLan driver has not been installed correctly or you tried to install a driver badly these two options are possible.
Remember that your wireless network card? Maybe it was a Realtek WLan card?
If it's a Realtek WLan card, try the WLan driver from the Realtek website and look for 802.11 g (RTL8187B) chip or you will simply check the page of the European driver Toshiba too the Realtek WLan driver also appeared on the Toshiba page

close the word table does not work
I'm having trouble with the active x progrmaming with MS Word. My VI simply runs through a directory and opens each word document and converts it to text and it accumulates in a table. My problem is that MS word does not close each file after loading in each iteration. What I am doing wrong?
Use the method Close _Document as the last thing in the loop FOR (close the document of reference after). Also, you should get the collection of Documents only once BEFORE the loop FOR and close this thing first reference after the for loop. Before closing the _Application reference, you can use the Quit method to close Word and then close the _Application reference.

Dv5 does not load Vista, failing hard drive test
I have a laptop HP DV5 with Vista - 2 years and more under warranty. He had some problems with Windows Update error codes, I did a system restore to a point a little backward. This does not solve the problem, so I tried to cancel restoring the system back to the State of our days. This was fine, but then the system locked up when he tried to restart itself-it has attempted to restart for 45 minutes and got nowhere, so I turned off. This throw Windows completely, as the system restore was not full yet, so now that my computer will boot the HP logo and start up options, but then get hung up trying to load windows (I have a black screen with a scroll bar down cycles endlessly with Microsoft Corporation written below)
Bottom line - I can't get the computer to boot windows, and system recovery does not work. Tried directly from the hard drive and vain and ordered HP-put one disk disks this morning, once removed from the HP screen, I get the bar "Windows loading files" at the bottom, which ends in about a minute, but then it just goes back to its normal load upward, with the scroll bar and Microsoft Corporation at the bottom of the screen. So I can't open basically even the system restore window.
I just ran the self-test of the primary hard drive and had hard disk Test do not. I'm not particularly computer saavy (I didn't know that to do this test in reading this forum), if anyone can tell me what I should do next? I don't want to go somewhere and get screwed!
Thank you!
-Becky
Hi Becky,
The result of the primary Hard Drive Self Test means your hard drive is defective and must be replaced. It is the HARD drive in my dv5.
http://www.Amazon.co.UK/320GB-Scorpio-WD3200BEVT-SATA-5400rpm/DP/B0013E0A0M
Hard drive replacement is not difficult (generally remove two screws from the cover of the HARD drive on the bottom of your laptop, remove a futher two screws holding the disc in place then pulling on one leg to lift the reader. Then unscrew the metal casing around your old drive - often called the caddy drive - attaching to your new drive, insert the new drive, fix it with two screws and replace the cover. Then simply insert your recovery DVDs to load Vista on your new drive. Here is a Youtube video showing this.

I hope this helps.

Articles:
(1) - 1pc with Windows Xp

The problem is that the pc of Windows XP does not see files and a Windows Vista-based computer, however, the computer Windows Vista see Windows XP machine.
So in practice, it works only on one side. I tried to ping the Vista machine on my XP machine and it works. (succesfull 4 and 0 failed)
I also tried to look on Google and this forum, but I can only find the opposite of my problem (XP Vista instead of XP Vista).Thank you very much.
