For troubleshooting, you can disable the Protected Mode (https://helpx.adobe.com/reader/using/protected-mode-windows.html#id_94783) and see if that solves the problem. If the problem persists, please re-enable the Protected Mode to improve safety.

  • Unable to navigate to Microsoft Word as a program by default to open word documents

    Hello

Disk, I recently installed a portable copy of Microsoft Office 2002 on a new computer. Windows 7. I used the software on another laptop with Windows XP.

After installing the software, I can't change the default program for the version of MS Word correctly, I'm running.

I am able to open a new word document and thereby open the corresponding folder, but it's a little embarrassing.

I am only able to define "wordicon" as the default program to open files, but this does not open the file at all.

    I have:

    • Went to the start menu and looked at the Word location is stored on my PC "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start start\program' but when you paste this in the location to browse the selection of default for my document programs shows wordicon and then does not allow me to open my document
    • target navigation "Custom control programs" but get the same problem as above
    • Click on "change program" when I navigate to 'control Panel\Programs\Programs and features '.
    • trying to solve the problems through MS word itself, but does not

Any help anyone could give would be much appreciated. I usually find the answer by looking at the various forums but not this time.
    Thanks in advance,
    Phil

    Hi Phil,

  • When I open a new Word Document, it reduces in the taskbar at the bottom and when I maximize, she disappears to the left of the screen. What's wrong?

I open a new Microsoft Word Document, and it immediately reduced in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. When I maximize the document, it "disappears" immediately to the left off the screen.
I'm having the same problems with the e-mails when I try to transfer or create new e-mail messages. They won't last long enough for me to write about them - they disappear from the screen.

Well maybe not related to your problem, I have to remind you that the version of Firefox you are using right now has been deleted and is no longer supported. In addition, he has known unpatched bugs and security problems. I invite you to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum security, stability, performance and ease of use. You can get it for free, as always, to getfirefox.com.

  • Unable to scan to a Word document open... (not in a file) I have on my old HP but not on this one.

    Photosmart HP 6515

    using Windows XP

    1. cannot find a way to "reframe" a scanned sheet when I really want on a portion of the worksheet.  On my old HP, it was an option to lighten, Darken, crop, etc.  There are no options to set the scan I see on this one.

    2. unable to find a way to scan directly to an open Word Document.  The only options I see are in a file or email.  Most of my scanner is a file open (still unnamed).  My old HP Photosmart, there was a framework for the analysis of the Document.

    3. still unable to find a place to enter 'user-defined sizes.  I use several sizes of stationery not one of the displayed formats.  On my old HP if you want a size don't figure does not, you can configure a "custom size."

On HP 6515 documentation, he said of 3.5 to 11 "sizes ("such as Custom"size) but it does not work.

If someone can tell me what HP printer (for home) has the features (like my other 2 HP printers) I'll really appreciate it.  Some models say the custom calibration is available for Mac only.  I've never had a Mac... goal had w / these features of HP printers.  Can't imagine why the new models would have FEWER features.

Someone has already tried to install and former pilot a 6510 and 6515.  I read a suggestion that install the old drivers, restores the 3 numbers above to what they were on an older model.

Part of what happens is that the custom print size feature is no longer available on any printers that use the new firmware.  If you scan using the HP software, you should see options for the harvest and to adjust the lightness and darkness of the analysis.  If you use the HP software and can't find these options, let me know and I'll try to point you to them.  For a scan in an open Word document, you must save the analysis as an image and insert it manually in the document now.  The automatic function for this has been removed as well.  I'm sorry.

After that I made this post, I was put to aware of this post from Travis_C that give you a work around for custom print sizes.  Hope that helps.

    Hello GIS_Person,

Thank you for using the Microsoft answers Forum

Is this a recent installation of Word or this facility has been working properly for a long time? What is the version of Office 2003 or Office 2007 Word? You have recently installed another program that could interfere with the functionality of Word? You could try to save all your Word documents, make sure you have the product key and the available media and then uninstall and then reinstall the program to see if that solves the problem. Have you tried to open documents on another machine and see if you get the same response from the file?

You can also try a system restore to an earlier point, who could return to a time before the problem occurred. I am including the instructions below to access the system restore.

  • Open automatically converted MS Word documents?

I just finished a trial version of Adobe DC. My sole purpose to use Adobe is to export PDF to MS Word files.

With the help of Adobe DC, the process of converting PDF files was complicated and tedious; However he ultimately allowed me to convert the PDF to MS Word and open the document automatically.

After the test of DC, I bought an annual subscription to Adobe Export export/conversion of MS Word is the only feature that I needed. The process to convert a PDF to MS Word and finally open in MS Word is still more complex and longer. Specifically, it must go through the process step 3 Adobe to convert the document, which lasts 45 seconds. Then, in order to view the document, you must save it to your hard drive, then open MS Word, navigate to the folder void that the document should save and then open the converted Word file. It is still long.

At least with DC, document Word was automatically opened during the conversion. that is half of the process and the time.

Is it possible to customize the Adobe export process to automatically open the MS Word document converted once it is converted or recorded (similar to the process Adobe DC)? Versus having to save it and then move on to the word, find the file and then manually open the document.

    Hello

There are just two ways to access your online service Adobe export in PDF format.

Or you can connect to "https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf" using your Adobe ID credentials or use Adobe Reader. Both ways, you need to select the PDF files you want to export, and then download the converted file on your computer.

In addition, if you have the Adobe Acrobat software, you can export the PDF to word, which then automatically opens the converted file.

    Hope it will be useful.

  • When you open a Word document downloaded, hundreds of tabs begin opening in Firefox. How can I stop this happening?

I just installed Office 2007 on my computer and downloaded some documents on the internet. When I try to open Firefox becomes crazy and opens the tabs of the browser faster that I can close them, with no sign of stopping. How can I stop what is happening and have access to the downloads? Any help much appreciated!

OK, solved. It's not Firefox, it's Windows. Somehow, it had been changed to open Word documents as browsers. I had my suspicions that it wasn't Firefox as Word documents to open in form of tabs in the browser even if Firefox is not running. The only way to open a Word doc was if it was already on the hard drive.

For someone who has a similar problem, it's how to correct:

    Open my computer.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    Click the File Types tab.
In the registered file types list, click the file that you are trying to open. In my case, it was the doc files. In the list this type of file has been shown by a Firefox icon, indicating that what was used to open the file.
Under the list of registered file types scroll details for each file type are displayed, with an option for "opens with:
Click Edit to the right of the present and choose the program to use in the future. Click OK and close the dialog box file types. This should solve the problem.

  • Cannot open word documents

Sometimes, when I try to open a Word document that is received by email, I get a window that this file does not have a program associated with this action. He tells me to go to the desktop, click view, then options, then file types. But when I click on the view menu, there is no other choice 'options' here. What can I do?

    Two points:

    1. the easiest way is to define a right-click on association any
example of a file with this extension. Choose open with and define the
Association, making sure to check the box "always use...". ».

    2. you say ' * sometimes * when I try to open a Word document "and that
'sometimes' suggests that you can open .doc files, but not files .docx.
If so, you have a version of Word prior to 2007; install the
    Compatibility Pack to

  • I can't open Word documents as it freezes.

When opening WORD blank document hangs and I have to close it. It then sends an error report. When I try to open a WORD document, the page is just blank. still, when I go to close, it sends an error report.

You should ask questions related to the word in the appropriate forum Word.  Do not forget to mention the version of Word that you have (click Help > subject).

While you are waiting for a reply in a forum of Word, you could see if deletion (see paragraph 4 of the article linked) the NORMAL template fixed things.  See http://www.pcdon.com/word-unstable-corrupted-normal-dot.html
