WRE54G v.1 and WRT54GS

I recently had to change my IP from router to 10.0.0.1. Of course I turned off the amplifier, re-setting it and since then I am unable to install it back. Please note it is version 1 and the router has the latest firmware. My laptop doesn't recognize the WRE-54. I ran the CD WRE and forced it on site. After that, he says that WRE cannot be installed. I know the issue is complicated but the WRE worked fine for several years and I have to use. Any detailed help which will allow me to start a process of installation and configuration will be much appreciated.

OK, I stopped. I followed all your instructions to the letter, after I saved the settings on the WRE and disconnect power (and reconnect of course) and also terurned the TCP/IP, DHCP, they are not totally saved and I do not see the WRE on the State of the network office that is connected to the router wireless. The light on the WRE is also red.

When I scan devices with net stumbler wireess I see 2 devices with my SSID (by the way the MAC address written on the WRE and appear on the Netstumbler are not identical), but since there is no IP address I can't reanalyzed the WRE.

Any suggestions? I'm doing something wrong here? Incidentally the firmware on my WRE is 1.04.17, but during the recording process, I has not reached the point to update.

Thank you.

The WRT54G is without VPN router. But there is no VPN capabilities. You cannot configure a tunnel VPN on the WRT54G.

  • WRE54G - disconnects from the WRT54G

I am now on my third WRE54G.  The symptoms that are after configuration of the RE, it connects with the router and I am able to PING with and without attached ethernet.  Life is good.   Wireless laptop connects with RE and then crashes after 2 minutes.  A repair the laptop wireless adapter to force it to reconnect to the router (to signal loss).  On a wired desktop I am able to ping without ethernet. Power cycling the RE start the cycle.

With WPA - PSK AES, channel 11, G-Mode only, 3600 for renewal group, broadcast of the SSID to the coast.  Blue on blue lights all the time.

After spending the afternoon on the phone with a very patient guy from tech support, we found that the setting MODE on the WRE54G to G-ONLY has been the cause of the problem.  I changed the MODE of JOINT and now the WRE54G and the WRT54G are very happy with each other.

(Windows 7 Pro.)  Thank you!

What is the wireless settings you have set up on your router (SSID, channel, Security Mode)? Try changing the channel wireless on your router to 1 or 11 and then try to connect to your wireless network.

    Hello

I tried to configure my router wireless with automatic DHCP configuration, I can't access the internet.

Can someone please help me with this Setup, I'm pretty new in this.

When I'm connected to the internet through my wired connection th ipconfig looks like this:

Ethernet connection to the Local network card:

The connection-specific DNS suffix. : lan

Thank you for all the advice I receive.

This is the IP address you get from your Modem. Then just do... Open an Internet Explorer browser page. In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 leave name empty username & password use admin lowercase... Once to connect to the Linksys router configuration Page... Below, you will see "Local IP address" will be: 192.168.1.1, you need to change to: 192.168.2.1. and click on save settings... and do the feeding Cycle... Disconnect the power from the router and Modem... wait 30 sec and seizure of power, the first Modem... again after waiting 30 seconds and connect the power supply to the router Linksys... and check if you are online.

    Hello

where is the VPN feature / passthru for a vpn connection? I don't use a lot of routers, and it must be called something else. any help much appreciated.

    Bob

The BEFSR41 nor the WRT54G have a VPN server. They don't support VPN. You can only run your own VPN server inside your LAN and to connect to one.

  • Verizon DSL and wrt54g

Problems to install my linksys wrt54g v8 router with my DSL internet connection from verizon. On the step where the computer checks the internet connection, I get error message saying. Impossible to detect internet connection or something like that. I tried to enter in the command prompt and type ipconfig enough and ipconfig/renew, and then ipconfig/all and tried again but still the same message. I also tried off the modem and then restarting him. And restart the entire computer, but it does not always work. Was wondering if anyone else has a problem with verzion and linksys router. Also if you have encountered this problem how did you fixed? Should I try to set an ip address static or which would be just a waste of time? If you have any other suggestions then feel free to give me all the information that you can. I'm not a beginner on computers, so I know exactly what I'm doing if I'm not a complete expert so I'm a little confused on this subject. Thanks for reading.

  • connection problems router WRT310N and wrt54gs * with DSL

Until I can return to my apartment and after IPconfig etc. returns I wanted to see if anyone has had the following problem.

I had a home wireless network set up with a wrt54gs v 5... I think it was BOM.

A few days ago I tried to get the network key for the new smartphone and my roommate kind of stupidly locked myself and disconnected my phone then my Office Wireless adapted. passing through the standard power recycles and resets all him remains disconnected in the apartment as well.

I have DSL through verizon, a toshiba satellite a135 with vista installed, all updates of drivers, and a westell 6100 dsl modem provided by my phone company.

    highlights include:

    (1) two nights now troubleshooting and browsing the forum. I have already exhausted simple corrections of linksys on his questions and help section.

    (2) new router, I wanted anyway a new and estimated that he was the problem. So I bought a wrt310N, hung, and he now obtained, there no longer updated set of firmware

    (3) internet connection is fine when I connect to my laptop directly to a dsl modem.

router 4) implements the home network wireless very well, but with no internet connectivity

    (5) computer wired to the modem connects to the internet. wired computer for router modem does not connect to the internet. with two routers. If it connects not wired and wireless won't be better.

I'm getting a little tired and tired, not to mention, I didn't my XBOX live fix to remove the stress of working in a military office all day lol

everything seems to work until the router tries to connect to my dsl provider, at least as far as I can tell.

and I'll be on the phone/forums with my ISP as well to make sure that I am not he mess up simply forgetting to fill in an optional field with info mandatory lol.

    so... help?

still, when I go home for lunch I'll post information and specifications of real hardware if someone a little more savvy I know what to ask.

Any ideas on where I'm wrong now?

    Fixed issue...

in the end, it's a problem between the ISP's modem and the router that they helped me understand.

My DSL service had changed their service, so TRP was no longer how they did the connections. Automatic DHCP was the current form. Following configurations of router DSL online provided inaccurate information. I didn't have the time to check with the ISP until yesterday afternoon when I was finally able to make a phone call and clarify things.

We put the modem into bridge mode, checked some settings on the router, and then everything is back up now.

  • Bridge WRT120 and WRT54G wireless?

I have a WRT120 connected to my modem by cable in the bedroom of my house before.  The signal is very weak in the room from behind, so I would use my WRT54G spare as acess point/bridge to extend my wireless range.  Is this possible without cable?

No, this is not possible, you need to use a cable.  However, there may be 3rd firmware of DD - WRT that can work.  Visit their web site.

  • WRT300N and WRT54G - problems accessing Windows update

I have the same problem with my two wireless routers.  For some reason they are both crashes me to windows update.  It is the only site that I can't get to.  This happened after I updated the routers for the new firmware.  I bypass the router once per month to download the new updates.

I thought it was very strange that this happened only after that I updated the firmware.

Finally found the answer.  Somewhere along the line (I'm talking months or more) I must have picked up a DNSchanger trojan.  When I installed my programs antivirus and antispyware, it cleaned.  However, the damage was already done.

Look at your rounter settings.  The configuration tab and look at and make sure that your DNS is what it is supposed to be.  Mine was to be settled automatically by my ISP.  It was, however, there were 2 static DNS servers on the configuration page.  If you have them, delete them.  Replace them with zeros.

Now, in the properties of your network, make sure that the settings are obtain DNS automatically.  Then disable and re-enable your network card and you're all set.  See below for details.

    DNSChanger Trojan

One of the most common problems associated with Windows Vista Update error 80244019 is DNSChanger Trojan. You will recognize this Trojan horse by checking assignments of DNS server on the computer that does not have update. This, follow these steps.

    (1) in Windows Vista, click the Windows Orb

    2) click in the search box, type CMD and press enter

    (3) at the command prompt, type IPCONFIG/all and press enter

    (4) you should be presented with the information group. It can be right connection to the Local Ethernet adapter or something similar.

    (5) find the DNS server section and check the numbers. Usually, the DNS is a local IP as 192.168.0.1 or it could be a static IP assigned by your ISP. If the DNS numbers resemble following distance for IP addresses, then you have the DNSChanger trojan. These IP addresses are from Europe.

  • Problem with the Xbox 360 and WRT54GS

Once from time to time, my Xbox suddenly will refuse to connect to the internet, even if he had worked for a few minutes to an hour. I'm going through all troubleshooting he tells me to do with the connection test, the MTU thing has always been higher than the minimum, even when the thing, it is not. For the first time, I got one for me to open up access to port 3074, and I can't find anywhere, I would. How can I do this?

    Nevermind, I figured it.

  • WAP54G and WRT54G to extend my wireless coverage

  • Linksys and Mac

    I own WRT310N and WRT54G.

I had both of these routers problems when using Mac.  As much as the basics are concerned the Mac works fine.  The only issue I have with these routers is about automatic discovery of PC in the Finder.  Just do they appear, I can connect how ever on computers using the Finder/go/to connect to the server.  I don't have this problem with my router Netopia AT & T on my place of work.  I was searching for an answer at least a year now thinking it was a problem for Apple.  Everything I can come to a conclusion is that Linksys routers do not have enough support to Apple networks and blocks computer discovery shows somehow.  I am at a point to buy an Airport Extreme Base Station if there is no will for my WRT310N and forever forget Linksys as a Mac user, I like, but it's somehow not entirely compatible with the Mac running Snow Leopard.

Who is your service provider... ?

Are you able to go online from the computer that is connected to the router... ?

Two routers are connected together. ? If so, how?

Open the configuration page of the WRT310N tab and under wireless, define the unique SSID, at 20 MHz channel width and the channel to 11. under the Wireless Security tab, verify the security key... Under wireless settings advanced... Change the tag to 50 interval, change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 and click on save settings... On the Security tab, uncheck the box filter anonymous Internet requests... Check that the wireless Mac filtering is disabled on the router...

Now, power cycle the router and try to connect...

  • Speed with EG008W worm 3 problem

This is my first time writing on a forum, so please forgive the long-winded explanation. I want to just make sure that I give all the details.

I currently own a WRT54G and WRV54G, BEFSR41. My internet modem is connected directly to the WRV54G and the other two are directly related to the WRV54G also. The small network, I had was working completely fine and I never had problems.

Last month, I bought an EG008W 3 worm in the hope of accelerating my internal network from my laptop (vista 64 home), my server HP ex485 smart media, and my PS3 all have gigabit cards.

I removed the WRV54G WRT54G and connected the EG008W to WRV54G. Then I connected my laptop, my HP mediasmart ex485 server, my PS3 and WRT54G to the EG008W.

I did not notice the changes of speed in the last month, so this week I decided to give it a try at low speed. Copy of 5 GB of files from my server on my laptop says it would take me 5 hrs. I connected my laptop to the WRT54G and tried to copy the same files, and it took a little less than 10 minutes. I connected the laptop to the EG008W and tried to copy the same files. I let it sit for 30 minutes and then abandoned.

I did a session with Linksys chat and was told to return to the store. The store policy didn't allow exchanges, but they have test and that the EG008W worked well for them.

I brought home and tried with the following, set up simple: WRV54G to EG008W Modem. Then I plugged in just the laptop and the server at EG008W. I copied the same 5 GB of files and first of all, it looked promising, but after 15 minutes, he said still 3 hours left. I would have liked a boost of my network speed, but whether slower than my wireless connection G isn't fair.

I have cat5e wiring and cords connection. I kept the same wiring when I connect the switch to the router when you perform tests.

Any help would be appreciated. I'd appreciate also all new tests that I can try.

Aponikikay thank you very much for your answer.

I could get my hands on another laptop with a gigabit card and with that one my switch worked correctly. I guess it turns out be something with my laptop.
