Write keywords as Lightroom hierarchy

When the mouse is enabled this option in the export window, it says that "this option... and ignore synonyms."

But, it does not ignore synonyms, synonym keywords are added to my list of keywords at the top level with the exported file.

What does '... ignore synonyms "means here?

LR always writes the keywords in the standard fields of industry IPTC:Keywords and XMP:Subject.  If you select the option write keywords as Lightroom hierarchy, it will also write key words to the XMP:HierarchicalSubject of field specific to Adobe, but with the ancestors of each included keyword.

For example, I've defined the hierarchical keyword thing > car > BMW and BMW is synonymous with video-projector. If I export a photo with BMW entrusted to him, the exported photo will have these fields defined:

IPTC keywords: Thing, car, BMW, Beamer

About XMP: thing, car, BMW, Beamer

If I choose the option write keywords as Lightroom hierarchy, the photo will also be this field:

Hierarchical object XMP: thing. Car | BMW

The keyword BMW wrote hierarchically with all his ancestors.  And note that synonymous with video-projector not be on that list.

I not boned specific rules of undocumented, but I believe that LR will import each keyword that appears in IPTC:Keywords and XMP:Subject as a top-level keyword in the LR catalog (including synonyms listed in these areas).   But if the XMP:HierarchicalSubject field is present, LR which uses to match the keywords present in IPTC:Keywords and XMP:Subject with the hierarchy of the LR catalog, so they imported as top level keywords.

But given that XMP:HierarchicalSubject contains no synonyms, LR will always be important synonyms as keywords higher level.  As discussed in another thread, I proposed a simple solution for this three years ago.

The key words are stored in the catalog.  Just move the catalog and your words keys will always be there

    OR

If you mean that you can export a list of keywords to a new catalogue - Yes - Menu in the menu bar metadata > export keywords

  • Export keywords in Lightroom 5 problem

I recently converted Lightroom 4 to 5.  I just noticed that not all of my keywords are exported to my jpeg file.  For example, I have the following keywords in Lightroom; Horizontal, landscape, national forest, Scenic.  My exported jpeg only has the keyword landscape.

In the library Module, when I click on the drop down keywords and select "Will Export", I see that the keyword of the landscape.  I don't know what this 'feature' is all about.  Can someone explain it to me.  I need to be able to export all keywords.

This problem seems to be consistent and I have a test set up file so I can repeat the problem.  Only certain keywords are not exported.

I believe that the method to change things in the world is to export the key words in a text file and then using a text editor to remove the flag so they export not keyword, then re - import the text keyword in LR.

As I'm at work right now, I can't look at the details. If no one responds, I'll look it up when I get home.

    In general, when there is only a single keyword with a given journal name, LR will remove the ancestor keyword when you fill the car and displaying the keyword.  In your example, there are two keywords with the name "AEPL" sheet, so when you type the keyword AutoComplete will give you the choice to choose between the keywords ("' AEPL < places"="" and="" "aepl=""> < people"). ="" but="" since="" there="" is="" just="" one="" keyword="" with="" the="" leaf="" name="" "flower"="" ("flower=""> < style"),="" lr="" supresses="" the="" ancestors=""> < style").  ="" but="" when="" you="" enter="" "flower",="" you="" are="" in="" fact="" selecting="" the="" keyword="" "flower=""> < style".  ="" you="" can="" verify="" this="" by="" selecting="" the="" image's="" thumbnail="" and="" then="" examing="" the="" keyword="" list="" pane="" --="" you'll="" see="" that="" "style=""> Flower" has a check next to him. • Keywords from Lightroom and IPTC fields

    Hello!

Does anyone know if Lightroom actually wrote the keywords in the IPTC image file field? I'm new to LR, and me are familiar to the bridge, where the keywords are actually added to the same file, but as there is so much faster keywording in LR than Bridge, I fear that the tags are not written in the files, but only in the LR database, so I need to export the image keyworded to obtain aid of keywords in the field image IPTC field. Am I wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Key words originally in the basis of LR but when you export an image you can include metadata,

You also have the option to save metadata to the files from the Menu metadata > save metadata to file...

For the PSD, JPG, TIFF, DNG this will write the key words in the file. For raw files, it will produce a file.

  • import of keywords in Lightroom

I currently have thousands of images that have been downloaded on my computer and organized using ZoomBrowser EX. of Canon these images have keywords entered via ZoomBrowser.  I am eager to start using Lightroom instead of organize all my images.  The key words are copied on in Lightroom or do I have to enter all the keywords again when I switch to use Lightroom?

    Thank you!

ZoomBrowser has long been known to its owner, inaccessible to other software database keywords and captions. At least, for several years, ZoomBrowser did not provide all means to save keywords and captions in fields of metadata standard of the industry within the photos, so that they could be read by other programs like LR.

I did a quick search, and it seems that it is always the case.  I found this free utility to save keywords and captions on the metadata of photos: ZB save Meta - browse files on SourceForge.net I have no idea about the quality of the utility.  I strongly advise that you check that your backups actually work before calling it.

If it works, then once you have saved the keywords to photos using the utility, LR will tell them when you import photos.

  • How to remove the option to tag keyword 'Persons' of all the keywords in a hierarchy?

Somehow, I scored my keywords 'Places' by mistake (I have about 100 of them under the keyword Places) with the keyword of the person checked - I probably used "Convert keywords keywords person" by mistake. Now, I want to cancel it. , I want the function reverse ' convert keywords to no keywords.

Y at - it an easy way to do this:

    1. Modify each keyword under My Places keyword and uncheck the person OR
    2. Export all keywords, to publishing and importation to hide in

    Thank you

Unfortunately, there is no supported way to uncheck the attribute of the person, other than to change the keywords one by one.  With the help of metadata > keyword export and import keywords will usually not what you want, since the import keywords always creates new keywords with no picture assigned to them.  (And in any case, the exported text file does not have many of the attributes keyword, including the attribute of the person).

Over the years, many people complained about the lack of batch editing of keywords in LR, but Adobe has added none of the options.  And it is not possible for a plugin developer provide functionality, because LR does not provide the necessary hooks.   So please add your vote and notice to this feature in the Adobe official feedback forum request: Lightroom: better management of keywords | Community customer Photoshop family

  • Add multiple keywords in Lightroom

Is it possible to add multiple keywords by entering a keyword. There are sets of keywords, but it seems not quite work the way I want to.

For example: say I take a picture of a sports team, called 'Sample Team' and they called authors 'A', 'B' & 'C '. I want to be able to do is to enter the keyword 'Sample Team' and it auto-ajouter authors like keywords, 'A', 'B' & 'C' too.

Anyone know if this is possible?

    Thank you

    Hi Seanrobinson.photography,

You can create a Parent keyword and then apply the keyword parent image in Lightroom.

  • Problems with keywords in Lightroom 5.6

I had a HUGE problem with Lightroom since update at 5.6. Keywords are not applied successfully for the selected photos. Sometimes they apply on the last SET of selected pictures, even if I purposely made a "don't select anything" and then chose a single photo. Sometimes they are applied to the whole of the collection even if the entire collection has not been previously selected. I can usually get the help of the keywords applied to the photo (or photos) right if I quit Lightroom and restart-apply keywords to a photo or group of photos, rinse and repeat. It is highly aggravating. Sometimes it does not work yet and the keywords apply to all the or apply to all photos in the grid, either a collection or a folder...

Have you tried to remove preferences?  See preferenceand other locations of files in Lightroom 5.  Note that on more recent versions of Mac OS, you must restart after the removal of preferences, because the operating system can be cached.

This dust of magical fairy watering often corrects the bizarre behavior of LR.

  • Keywords of the hierarchy

    Hello

I'm looking for solution for this case:

We work in Photoshop CS3 and CS4.

When we (Group of 6 people) take a picture of our products.

We have a set of keywords that should be marked to each image.

Keywords are build in a hierarchy, 10 categories in each category

    on the 10 key words.

    What we do now is:

resize, adjust the images in PS, then open the same image in Bridge when certain keywords are marked

What we want to do is

resize, adjust and mark photos in PS without going to the bridge.

    Is this possible?

I'd be grateful for your help.

    Thank you

    Tomasz

Well, as I mentioned in CS4, you can use a control panel.

    You have installed Configurator?

    http://labs.Adobe.com/downloads/Configurator.html

This isn't quite what you want, but we could add a button (with a small Script to add the term using keywords) for each word and then just click those needed. (If you want to test this fragmentary Panel send me your email address in a message private.)

Recover keywords and their display in the Panel are beyond me, but maybe someone in the Configurator Forum knows how to do this.

A pure Scripting solution is probably doable, but a bit heavy for me.

  • Import of keyworded in Lightroom 2, Windows XP files?

If I import images into Lightroom which have already been keyworded in Bridge, what will happen? LR will read the key words and put up a list for me?

Yes, and you will probably find the keywording system in LR than the bridge.
