WRT 160N V3 router connecting to the internet on wired computer

Hello-

I have configured all router just great with the laptop, and it works well. The problem that I have, and it of not a big deal (at least for me), is the router will not connect to internet on my wired computer. I tried to fix it (to advise), but it does not. What should I do?

Thank you for advice or suggestions.

Denise

Have you tried to connect your laptop directly to your router and check if you are able to go online from your laptop?

On your desktop, click Start - RUN - CMD, and then click Ok, in the command prompt window, type "ipconfig" and check the IP address, it should be in this range "192.168.1.xxx, subnet: 255.255.255.0 default gateway: 192.168.1.1" if its something and then these, then your computer must have a static IP address, so you must remove your computer's static IP address...

Click the Start button > settings > Panel > Network Connections - right click on Local area connection icon and click Properties-On the "general" tab select "Internet TCP/IP Protocol" and click on the button properties-select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and select "Get an address of DNS server automatically" and click Ok and click Ok.

Now, check if you are able to go online.

    Hello Chris,

Thanks for the reply and we update on the State of the question.

I appreciate the efforts that you have taken so far trying to solve this problem. It is possible that the Webroot SecureAnywhere software could block Windows Live services.

I ask you temporarily disable the security software and check if you are able to connect to the Services Windows Live for you connect to the account of the safety of the family.

    Note:

Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • How to establish a local router connection through the internet

How can I establish a local always on connection router through the internet.  I would like to be able to access our local wireless network when you are away from the office.

    Thank you!

The major goal of a router with internet is to protect the network from attacks through the firewall. The last thing you want to do is reduce this function.

If you want to access services on specific systems, you can transfer individual ports of these systems. Thus, for example, if one of the internal devices runs a web server you can before port 80 on this device.

However, if you want to make your PC to appear as if it is on the local network, then that requires the use of a VPN tunnel, which depends on the capability of the router.

    · What type of encryption do you use on the router?

    Hello

I just installed a new router and now my desktop running xp computer does not connect to the internet. When I try to dhcp I get 169..., when I put manually the IP just get no access to the internet and can not ping to the router address. I tried to run the net work Assistant, emptied my dns, disabled all firewals, still nothing.
    Any suggestions?

The zero configuration utility works very well. But it is a desktop computer and on cable. All other wired and wireless PC in the office is working well, then it's definitely this PC. He came out of nowhere, I install a network printer on the PC but that's all.

Your messages are a bit terse, but if I understand correctly

    • You have a router connected to the Internet and multiple computers connected to the router, some Ethernet cable and others by wireless.
    • All but one of these computers can reach successfully from the Internet via the router.
    • A computer that can't browse the Internet is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable.
    • You disconnected the cable between the router and the desktop problem and connected it to a Windows 7 laptop and the laptop connected to the Internet via the router.
    • You haven't seen any error message (except, perhaps, a message on "Limited or no connectivity").
    • You have installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 (or at least Service Pack 2)

Assuming that all the foregoing is an accurate summary of the situation, I suggest that you do the following:

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
Type the following lines and press ENTER after each line

    Netsh reset winsock catalog
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Close the command prompt window and restart the computer.

    Thank you

After reading your response, I decided to uninstall and reinstall the program. Thought it would be a little easier. I felt that the problenm was that the program had been damaged but hesitate to reinstall it because I downloaded from the internet several years ago and could not find the product key.  I finally found the program cisco and the location of the key and now works. Not as sexy but effective.

    Thank you once again

  • Unable to connect to the Internet via a Linksys Wireless card

I used a Linksys BEFW11S4 for several years with no problems.  A PC is connected via a network cable and the other (Dell laptop) used a wireless adapter Linksys that plugged into the laptop (model of Linksys WPC11 ver (4).  All my computers using Windows XP with the latest service packs.

I plugged the Dell laptop to the router via a cable to transfer files faster than the network B.  Then, when I disconnected the cable and reconnected the wireless card, I was unable to use the Wi - Fi connection to connect to the internet.  Wired works very well, is not wireless.

Windows reports a good wireless connection to the router, but the machine is unable to connect to the internet using the wireless card.  It can connect to the internet when using a network cable, however.

Pings what either using the Wi - Fi connection failed (expired).

I used another laptop (a more recent Toshiba with a wireless card built-in) to connect to the router and it works very well with the connectivity wired or wireless.  No problem switching back with this machine.  So, the problem is not with the router or the router configuration.

I was through the forums and seen a LOT of people seems to have the same problem with these Wireless Linksys routers.

I tried to use the Easy Link software to configure the machine, but: (1) Linksys updated web site is not valid, and (2) with the www.linksysfix.com/ela site that directs users to the software is also invalid.  Linksys technical support seems to be lacking.

I went to the usual network setup menus and two laptops seem to be configured the same way, again, we're working wireless and we do not.

I would appreciate solutions others have tried and who has worked with this problem.

I reinstalled the drivers for the Linksys card and it does not work.  Windows recognizes the new hardware card, reports that it is connected to the router, but still no internet connection

  • How can I connect to the internet through the dial upward through the computer another internet connection?

The computer that has WiFi but I want to test its dial-up access windows 2000 top. It has WiFi with utility that is necessary. It includes 12 Opera browser. As a resort last, if it is not possible at all means, ultimately, let me know how to connect to the internet through another computer via the telephone line through Internet connection sharing or network connection. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Remember, this is on the internet. Not on whether or not Microsoft does not support Windows 2000. If you tell me how it is not supported, please do not post. Internet connection will be between the two modems and two computer on Windows 2000, it has a LT Win modem and the Vista Home Basic has a CX110 in generation something like this modem. • T60 RANDOMLY does not connect to the internet when you start

One fine day this machine just stopped to connect to the Internet, either wired or wireless. I think it was a windows XP update that caused the problem

Made it work again by loading the updated drivers:

    1.60 power management

HotKey features - forget press release #, but he was later

    Login to 5.62

Where possible I have uninstalled these files before installing the new versions

Reinstalled the NIC drivers, noting that the most recent driver wireless is a not supports the network card in my T60 and decommissioning accordingly by the .txt file that accompanied the latest version

    Everything works, sort of.

But if I stop and then perform a boot cold it does not connect (wired or wireless). When this happens, you know because at startup login manager tells me it could not connect. If I do a reboot it will connect (99% of the time).

I can close the lid and go in standby mode (hibernation is disabled) and when he returns he will connect (if it linked before)

And then sometimes even on a reboot it connects, but a subsequent reboot seems to work

    Any ideas?

    (1) what the order the drivers are loaded, and how I change that

    (2) could be a sign that the battery needs to be replaced?

    Hi, Richard,.

Have you been able to connect to the internet on this computer so far?  Try a system restore

Have you tried to use a different web browser to connect.  Is the same behavior?

Check if your network card appears in Device Manager. If it is there, check yellow exclaimations next device Network adapter Manager. You can also go to the manufacturer's website and check if an update for your network card.

If the network adapter exists and works, try resetting the TCP/IP stack:
