EliteBook 8560w: startup stops at the HP logo

EliteBook 8560w, 8 MB ram, Intel i5 - 2540M to 2.6 Ghz, AMD over-pants M5950

Computer was working fine without any problems. Windows Update, now stuck on startup with HP logo on the screen and the text "press the ESC key for startup menu '.

  • ESC key does nothing.
  • Removed the battery, held on substantive residual load lost power button
  • Holding F9 or F11 at startup does nothing.
  • Win7 32 disk turns but will not start.

Which exhausts my troubleshooting led by Google, any ideas out there?

Thank you

Ken

Try to get the hard drive to see if you can get into the BIOS with F10. If that gets you more far, he can point to hdd bad start to stop.

  • Help - my p6142p stopped at the HP logo for a long time...

Has started last night, my HP p6142p landed on the screen of the HP logo for about 15 minutes before he proceeded to the Nvidia Raid control and continuation to Windows7.

There is no hardware / software changed.

I had disabled the HP logo screen once I'm in the Bios setting and reloaded the default bios setting but the same result.  He detected cpu, ram, hd and usb then deadlock (10-15 minutes), before continuing.

    Anyone have this problem?

I thought of it and the cause was my Espon all-in-one, for some reason, the reader on the printer did not cause the USB mass storage device error in card device manager.

I had not plugged and and reset my printer and my pc boot normally again.

  • EliteBook 8560w can't update the bios

    Hello

    I have a 8560w pro over-pants worm i7 EliteBook.

I have a few minor problems, so I'll try to update the version of the BIOS.

    I currently have the F.03.

I tried to download and install several versions of the HP site, but it just will not be updated. No errors.  I followed the step by steps in the installation wizard, but it just isn't to update anything, just restart at the end.

I use windows 7 Professional that came with the laptop.

    Any ideas?

GOOD NEWS! the team of HP here in Israel has been able to help me on this, and I managed to update my BIOS through installation and initialization via a USB flash drive.

    These are the steps:

1: Download the f.22 driver (which you have probably tried before)

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=5071171&prodNameId=5071173&swEnvOID=4060&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-101454-1

    2. run the file and follow the instactions until you get to the USB part.

    3. Insert a USB FlashDrive (up to 4 GB)

    4. Download this zip file

    http://www.SevenForums.com/attachments/tutorials/42023d1260810265-MS-DOS-bootable-Flash-drive-create-win98boot.zip

5 copy its contents into C:\swsetup\sp55721\FreeDOS

    6. continue installation (choice of installation via USB) and start your computer from USB

Well, it worked for me when nothing else has. I still don't get why HP does not publish an update and prefer to replace the motherboard.

    Good luck

  • EliteBook 9470 m stops after the Ram Upgrade

    Hey guys
I bought 2 Kingston 8 GB of Ram for my HP Elitebook Folio 9470 m (Windows 8 Pro) be upgraded to 8 GB to 16 GB. According to "Memory search" of the Kingstons the RAM I bought should work with my laptop:

    Module 8 GB - DDR3 1600 MHz

    Weight: KTH - X3C / 8G

Yes, it should work. I checked the site of Kingston and memory is specifically recommended for your model. I try every Kingston module separately with the HP module and run a comprehensive test of memtest on it.

    http://Memtest86.com/download.htm

Create a bootable usb stick with memtest cd and run it on each module. I suspect that you got a bad stick of RAM. At least if it doesn't not Kingston is very reputable, and they will refund your money.  This is proposed by Crucial memory:

  • BSOD Atikmpag.sys Elitebook 8560w ati m5950

    Hi all

I have problems with my Elitebook 8560w. I get the BSOD on startup all the time, when the login screen appears in windows 7. (atikmpag.sys)

I have tried several things but I can't solve it, the laptop cannot start up if I use the standard vga driver.

    Things I've tried:

    Fresh install Windows 7 x 64, Windows 7 x 86, Windows XP x 64, Windows XP x 86

    Tried all versions of BIOS

Tried all versions of drivers for video card, both HP and Ati with fres installs Windows.

It's getting boring, please help me.

Where can I get the latest version of the video Bios for my m5950? Who can solve my problem.

Hello hlaca20. I understand that you have a problem with the blue screens that often occur during startup. Is this correct?

You've tried quite a few steps to solve the problem. I think that the combination of the BIOS update, fresh install multiple operating systems and fresh drivers excluded the majority of software problems. Have you tried to test your equipment?

If you have not deleted the partition of HP_Tools you can use the built-in tools that provides HP. You should test your memory and the hard disk to determine whether there are problems.

This document describes how to run the hard drive test. Simply repeat the steps in selection of memory the second time to test the RAM.

I'm waiting for your answer; have a great day!

  • XPS 10, 8.1 Overview, the Dell Logo, Dock

I installed the 8.1 overview the first day it was available and everything worked very well. What I've discovered since the update, is that I can only start my XPS 10 successfully if it is in the dock.  If I pull it out of the dock and try to restart that stop at the Dell Logo.  If I stop, put in the dock and turn on it will start successfully.

I know that many people have experienced the problem with being stuck at the Dell Logo after upgrade to RT 8.1 Overview, everyone knows the problem where the computer can start when it is docked but not when it is not docked?

    Hello XBalance,

According to the update of the research team of product, we try the suggestions mentioned in the article Support of Dell.

    I hope this helps!

  • Start of start for the HP logo

I bought a HP dv8000 used and at startup, it shows the projection of COMPAQ logo on the screen, not the HP logo as it should.  I guess that someone put a Compaq motherboard or whatever in it.  My question is, what can I do to clear the Compaq logo and back HP logo at startup?  On the MB logo "storage"?

Also, if it's a Compaq MB, can I use the HP Bios updates?  Or should I stay with using only the Bios Compaq upgrades?

    Thanks - Bill

Compaq and Hp are now one company. HP sells Hp models and Compaq. Compaq marketed to business appearance with HP models for entertainment. the post merger appeared dv8000 do you infact have a HP unit. but it's the things compaq. The start screen is coded in the bios and there I have no way to change that. It does not affect the performance and you can do all the updates on our website, no problem

  • EliteBook 8560w: the bios password reset

Hi, I have my blocked Elitebook.  Model is here 8560w. It takes the first bios password.

Numberspersonal information deleted by the moderator)

    Hello

Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or EliteBook have more strict security consumption patterns - they do not produce "stop codes", the password cannot be derived from the serial number and the code is stored in a nonvolatile memory to remove the RTC cell does not reset the password in this case.

If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a file custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.

    Kind regards

  • EliteBook 8470p: remove the custom logo of 8470p - using EREPLOGO. EFI

I just bought a used HP EliteBook 8470p who I am in reconstruction.

The previous owner (who I didn't contact) changed the POST logo screen, appearing briefly at startup to display a political statement - I want to remove and restore the default the HP Logo.

HP (702342-001, created in June 2012) technical white paper, I determined the following high level steps:

-I'm running BIOS 2012 generation specifications

-The EREPLOGO of HP. EFI utility is required to make the changes by using the option "ereplogo /e.

-J' I run the EREPLOGO. Utility of EFI "EFI Boot file" option in the Menu "Startup Options".

    Questions please:

Is this still the correct way to implement this change?

The white paper and the SoftPAQ containing the utility (sp58176.exe) are both dated 2012. Here is the latest version available? That is 4 years old!

    Thank you.

For those interested, I managed to solve the problem that I came with the help of this EREPLOGO. The EFI utility.

The utility is available for download in the software and drivers for my device (HP EliteBook 8470p) Web page and I followed the steps described in the technical documentation that accompanies the download. Crime (in this case) logo has been removed by the use of a control subject via the EFI Shell to start setting switch.

So yes, it's getting a little old, but the utility worked perfectly on my system BIOS UEFI.

    Thanks HP!

  • On startup, I get the messages that applications have stopped working. One of them is (2nd message) IE3SH application has stopped working. How can I fix it?

Start-up applications to receive messages from windows that have stopped working. One of them is IE3SH application has stopped working. How can I fix it?

    Hi 9gonz9,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

You get this error message when you start the desktop computer?

You can check if the complete startup items are checked in the msconfig utility.

    1. open System Configuration by clicking Start , clicking Control Panel, clicking system and security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-click the System Configuration.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    2. click the Startup tab and check if all the items are archived there.

You can also run a bag of security for your computer and check if this solves the problem.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

If the problem persists, turn the computer in clean boot and check if all the background program is causing this error message. To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

The steps to perform a clean boot are given below:

1 log on to the computer using an account with administrator rights

    2. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue

    3. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)

    4. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all

Note: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use with existing restore points system restore utility

Once you start the office see if you get the error message. If not then follow the divide and conquer method mentioned in the article below to know which program is causing the problem.

For more information about the clean boot, follow the below given link:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    2. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    3. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Windows does not pass the Windows logo screen at startup

Original title: computer Dell does not start

Now, he gets to the Windows logo screen and will not get any further. I tried to repair windows startup and restore among other things. Previously, he was to reach the blue screen and would occasionally work by me it turn off and try again.

Restart your computer and hit F8 repeatedly (once a second should be enough) until you see the menu Advanced Startup Options. Select repair your computer (if this option does not appear you have to start from the Windows recovery disc or the installation disc).
Then select System Recovery Options and run the Startup Repair tool.
