WRT 54 G as a hub

I recently updated my home network with an E3000.  This is my front door, connected to a cable modem.   It works very well.  I still have my WRT 54 G and I want to use it as a simple wired hub (switch?).  The desired connection is Modem-E3000-hub-2 computers.  I know that I have to turn off the radio on the WRT54G, but what else should I do so that it does not interfere with the E3000 router function?

I had it works fine for a while - the WRT with a computer connected via a CAT 5 cable to the E3000 through 2 ports hub on the WRT 54 G, but sometimes all night the internet disappeared.  I took the WRT54G the system power off and everything works well, now.

Thank you.  I tried your fix yesterday, but it did not work - no internet.  Then I I remember as I futzed with a few settings on the WRT before I tried your solution.  The bulb was and I did a reset, then tried your solution.  Voila!  It works (now) I

1. disconnect your network WRT. It wire a single computer.
2. open the web interface at http://192.168.1.1/
3. on the configuration page main change the address LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2
4. on the same page, disable the DHCP server.
5 save settings.
6 unplug the computer. Wire one of the LAN ports of the E3000 on a port LAN of the WRT. Do not use the internet port on the WRT!

That's all. Now, you can configure the WRT on http://192.168.1.2/ , you do not have to disable the wireless on the WRT. You can use it to extend wireless coverage if you wish.

will give a day before I accept the solution.  Thank you!

    Hello

I install my Color LaserJet Pro 200 m276nw MFP to connect to my home network using a wired connection.

When directly connected to my router, the connection initializes and successfully receives an ip address. I was able to access all the functions connected to my router directly either wired or wireless network.

I also have an old Linksys hub and when the printer is connected to the hub, it does not initialize the network connection. The hub works with all the other sevice in my network, including a few game consoles and a Mac Mini.

Is there a network advance setting that I have to look?

    Thank you

    Hello

I don't know if an IP address conflict is my problem as it is not a problem with another device on the network. But it is certainly a kind of incompatibility.

I found a work around. I have an old LInksys WRT54GS router, I was about to sell and read that I could turn in a switch with a custom firmware, DD - WRT. After you have installed the custom firmware and following some instructions to configure in a switch (including setting a fixed IP address as you suggested), the router-turned-switch worked like a charm.

So, it is definitely an incompatibilities with the Linksys Hub EFAH05W. Maybe this printer don't like hubs. I read the hubs do not succeed as a router or a switch network traffic only.

  • WRT 1900AC and Windows 7 on the network or naming issues

Background: I had a Linksys E3000 up and running for about 5 years in a stable network environment.  The E3000 is dead, and I put in a new 1900AC WRT to replace.  Doing of things set up correctly the main 'name network' in my network poster shows up as a name given to a part of my network wireless.  The "Wired" part appears in diagrams and windows, as well as the bands main wirless, but not as the nodal point between computers cable and internet Win7, I want to get the machines to Windows 7 on my network to display the name of cable system in Windows 7, as the primary network and NOT one of those wireless.  Almost everything I want to be able to do works very well except for the display of the network card in Windows 7 when I tried to set up a 'House' group that does not yield to my efforts.,.

I use the notation 'suffix' in the name, so is my router on ethernet. .. NET, the lower band wireless is ... W24 upper band is ... W5.   I haven't figured out how to get objects from the 'sequence of configuration of events' out of the Windows 7 shows in the 'Network Neighborhood' so I have a more rational image that has Ethernet to the soul and the bands wireless networks subsidiary additional not necessarily associated with all my devices.  I know this isn't technicallly a Linksys issue, but... Can I just delete alll information neworking in Windows 7 and restart and then force the computer to put in place a network based on the correct network node labels. provided by the router?   I'm a little worried that I might have "reset" all that would be a huge * beep * since almost everything I want to do works very well, I'm not quite clear sometimes if the process of connecting a computer to another, or a NAS attached to the router through the wired network or wireless one where performance can be a big problem.  My Ethernet is "certified" to 1 Gbit/s, which is much faster than wireless networking.  Sometimes, it seems that to access the NAS attached to the router is done "through a tiny straw, not driving fast in the world of wiered.»  I used to do a lot of Windows NETBIOS networking "back in the day" and my network of naming conventions followed probably not with the time, but I have still two Windows XP computers connected to my home network, and when 'debug' things I think as central Ethernet and wirless and additional networks portions, not conversely.  Unfortunately Windows 7 seems to grasp the names wireless first, probably because the machines in question all have two wired connectivity and wireless, built in and available in their equipment and one who has been implemented and functional with the old router, when the new plugged it was used initially for initialization using the default sequence integrated into the software of the router.  I was able to go back and rename everything to get rid of the default names, but my Android based network monitor works only within the range of the router and not when the phone is connected to the internet outside the home.  I was never able to get the support of people phone to help me clarify this issue either. ..  When I added the second computer, it's the same out of the box, Windows has taken the name of the first wireless network that he found and put it in the vicinity of network as the device in the path between the computer and the internet, I can 'see' the host name of the router correctly from everywhere and map on the 1 TB drive that I hung above all my computers, but the Internet connection is actually an ethernet drop of water from a modem cable to a port on the router ethernet, not one of the wireless bands that appear.

I'm not ready to take this option, partly because I managed to apply each official Linksys/Belkin new update to this firmware to the router via a network connected to the interface of the web browser, app management Andoroid meets most of my needs and that the router is in a section of closet custom built interface built in an old House we updated to convert a vestibule in two closets.

The router sits above a coat bar with the phone and networking hub for a small household of Ethernet wiring devices, coaxial cable and telephone wiring central location includes a small battery assisted power conditioner for the cable modem, the hubs and the router itself as well as the power supply for a connected NAS drive to the port of the router using USB 2.0 speed (the drive is older than the router , but the operating system to wake up when one of the connected devices want to access once it is mapped on the computer.  The only precaution I had to take was to not implement the external login to the router with the same credentials used by the Android app that I use to check things and if necessary to restart, etc if I don't want to run a computer and connect in this way.  If I had to 'flash' of the router manually, I have to be sure I could worm my way in this cabinet, unplug everything, then consider somewhere, performing surgery and then carry all back and reconnect it.  I'm 72 with cataracts of too many years of watching from the CRT in my youth.  I prefer not to tighten my back, or down a small stepladder, I need just to get up there where I see things.  Perhaps when we move, I'll take with me to Kendal at Oberlin and set up again in a configuration that is more appropriate for a bungalow in a community with large campus wireless available to everyone... This could be interesting.  I hope that if will meet my needs "such what" until then.  BTW, I'm getting pretty good wireless reception on my terrace outside a two-story built in 1939 with hard plaster, brick slab concrete and brick walls of full course between the router and me!

  • Connect the airport to the hub of sky - sharing wireless problems

I just bought an Airport Extreme and try to connect it to my sky network hub (q) existing.

I had it put in place, with it connected via ethernet to my hub of heaven.

I have 2 external hard drives connected to the Airport Extreme and was a time machine back to one of the attached disks.  That everything worked very well, wait for the back up has been extremely slow (she had only managed 30 GB in 3 hours, and to do a TB).  I realized that the airport had created a wifi network of its own, and I was wondering if it was interfering with my main one sky, so I turned off the wifi at the airport.  Now I can not connect readers to share.  Utility can see them, but on my macbook, when I click on to connect to the server from the airport, it does not connect.

Should it?  I know I shouldn't need to run 2 wifi networks if my Airport Extreme is connected to my router from Sky via ethernet?  With gratitude any help appreciated!

    Catherine

When it is connected to the hub Sky by Ethernet, your AirPort Extreme should be reconfigured as a bridge.

To do this, use the AirPort Utility, as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility.
    • Select the extreme and then, select change.
    • Click the network tab.
    • Change the router Mode to: Off (Bridge Mode).
    • Click on update and allow the base station restart.

  • Homekit with the iPad as hub problem

    Hello

I just installed iOS 10 on my iPhone 6 and iPad 2 Air and try to play with HomeKit to remotely control lights of the hue.

I can control accessories from my iPhone and my iPad, when both are connected to my Wifi network.

I install my iPad as a Hub HomeKit via settings/Home.

My iPad is well detected as HomeKit hub on my iPhone by the host application.

The problem is when I switch off my iPhone from my Wifi network and connect through 4 G: I can no longer control accessories: my iPad is still considered homeKit Hub from my iPhone, but I get failures when trying to turn on the lights/out.

I disconnected my iPad iCloud account and reconnected (same account iCloud on my iPhone).

I've disabled iCloud/HomeKit and reactivated it on my iPad.

I've disabled host/Hub and reactivated it on my iPad.

I restarted my iPhone and my iPad.

Checking with 2 factors is enabled on my account.

I deactivated and reactivated the iCloud keychain.

I plugged my iPad to a charger.

    Without success, any idea?

Could it be associated with my case ADSL settings (UPnP is enabled)?

    Thank you.

Good news: I removed my house in Homekit and created a new one from scratch: it works fine now.

    Thank you.

  • iPad 2 Air - WiFi but no Internet [BT Smart Hub]

Since the update to iOS10, last night, my iPad 2 Air will not get an internet connection for my new BT Smart Hub.

All my other devices (6, 6 s iPhone, laptop, iPad mini, etc.) are all working well.

    Results so far:

    Reset the router

Restore the iPad as a backup and a new device

Reset the settings of the network, including the lease

The hub is certainly taking over the iPad, but it won't give him an internet connection. There is no VPN software that I know on the iPad.

If I connect the iPad to another device (namely my phone on a hotspot) while the internet works fine.

Spoke with BT and they said that they see no problem, and as all my other devices work then there must be something wrong with the settings of the iPad. :/

By clicking on the side of my wireless connection, it seems that the router is not to give information the iPad (i.e. there not IP, subnet, router, DNS, etc info).

At a total loss about what to do next - it's my main iPad sunk into the wall to control the House so it needs to work!

Hello. You have enabled an access control on the router? Maybe you need help again to the iPad. Have reset you network settings, settings > general > reset > reset network settings? I guess you can see the network. What happens when you enter the password? Looks like you are having problems connecting to WiFi, no internet.

  • iOS 10 questions implementation of several devices on Home App (HomeKit) for use with Hub of HUE.

I can connect an iPhone but am unable to allow a guest or a second iPhone to the visionaries. Once I'm Setup on an iPhone, the second iPhone will not see the hub of HUE with their application to the home page. When I send an invitation for comments and they accept, they see my Home Setup, I created, but they get an error message saying ' accessories does not.

I rest iphones and TINT Hub several times as well as home App and TINT settings. I'm still able to install one of the two iPhones at the start. The problem comes when you try to grant the second iPhone controls. I even tried to remove the TINT Apps to ensure that they do not interfere in some way. Both devices are able to use the application of COLOUR very well to control the lights, but we would like both the convience to control the lights of HUE with iPhone Control Center.

Someone at - it stories of success with the connection of multiple devices using the Hub of HUE and Apple Home App for iOS 10 release?

Both devices are iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 10. I have an iPad Pro available, but it is not setup for iOS 10 again or used for lighting control. The Hub of HUE is the latest model of square.

    Thank you!

I have exactly the same problem.  My iPhone 6 s + works fine.  My children and wife iPads, iPods and phones running iOS10 are not.  They can see the app home screen and all the features of the installation.  But each device says "no response" and at the top of the page its says "no responding accessories".

In addition, they can all use the app of Hue and set the lights very well.  However, not with Siri, but that's another question.  Once again my siri controls function very well.

My guess is it's a bug.

  • Not able to install apple tv 4th gen as home hub

Updated to iOS 10 yesterday. I was looking for installation up to the ATV 4th Gen as a home hub, but it is not allowing me. It works very well to set up the ipad pro as the hub, but not the ATV, which is running TVos 10, and Yes 2 verification step is on. Everyone knows about this problem? Apple is aware?

Hello. Have you seen this cannot create Apple TV (4th gen) as Home Hub?

  • Apple TV will not be displayed as home hub in iOS iPhone app House 10

I'm trying to set up the AppleTV 4th gen to act as a drop-in centre, but it will not be displayed in the home of the iPhone app.

Both devices use the same iCloud, tried a disconnection and returned but nothing, two-factor authentication is activate, location is enabled, iOS are both updated with even wifi link...

Also, I checked in my apple ID page and all devices appear correctly, but I can't understand why the Apple TV is not recognized by iPhone kit home.

    Any help appreciated

    Dave

I have the same problem.  A ran the same traps you.  2 factor auth active.  Sign in and out icloud.  No luck.  Can activate ipad like home but 4th gen apple tv hub will not simply act as the hub.  Under settings, accounts, icloud... no homekit option available.

  • Unable to set up Apple TV (4th gen) as Home Hub

I updated my iPhone to iOS 10 5s yesterday and today I updated my Apple TV (4th gen) to tvOS 10.

But I can't configure my Apple TV as a hub in the home on my iPhone app - the Automation tab in the hub said "Make Apple TV (4th generation) to the center of your House...» ", but offers no possibility to do so.

    I found this article:

Automate and remotely to your accessories HomeKit - Apple Support

    Who says:

    • On your Apple TV, go to settings > accounts > iCloud and make sure your Apple TV shows connected HomeKit.

But there's nothing HomeKit this page of settings on Apple TV. (Yes, my Apple ID has two-factor auth enabled.)

Does anyone have this working? Any tips?

    Thank you

    Martin

Same question here, but with 6 s iPhone more and iPad 9.7 Pro.

No "HomeKit" option under iCloud as instructions indicate there should be.

Only reference HomeKit that I could find anywhere was under "Privacy", with the only option being "Reset configuration" or something like that. Who comes to HomeKit forget all my devices.

Have activated two-factor authentication, then out of the iCloud, Apple TV, and back in. No luck. Tried to reboot several times, still nothing.

The Apple TV is clear my HomeKit Setup, because the use of the thing "Reset configuration" has had an impact on what I see on my iPhone. So I think this could be a bug in 10 TVOS. Very annoying that it breaks the new Automation features in iOS 10.

  • Drive external hard connected via USB hub: icons not showing on desktop

Hi... on an iMac 2015, using a USB hub 3.0 occasionally to connect an external hard drive (which stores these things as art assets)... but the external hard drive icon does not appear on the desktop... it IS in the sidebar of Finder, though...

But on the icon the Finder sidebar, the small icon "eject" gray is missing, and the only way to eject is to right click and select "eject" or use the eject button in the Finder toolbar... it's okay...

But is there a way to display the icon on the desktop, so I can always remember to eject the disks attached?

(the desktop icon shows normally when connected directly via the USB ports at the rear)

    Thank you.

Finder-> Preferences-> general, check the appropriate boxes under "show these items on the desktop".

[My personal choice is them having all checked]

  • A powered USB hub will support Ethernet / USB?

Wifi in my office is uneven, so I need to wire a Macbook Pro (if that's the term). Because the Macbook Pro is not an ethernet port, I get an ethernet cable / USB. I also get a USB hub with an AC adapter.

I know that you should not the ethernet cable / USB in a hub that is normal because it won't have enough power. But a powered hub will provide enough power for thin ethernet connection? (This laptop gets transported frequently, so I want to minimize the number of items that need to be plugged in every time.)

    Thank you-

    Christine

I wouldn't use a usb to Ethernet port, I would use the port of Thounderbolt ter http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD463LL/A/thunderbolt-to-gigabit-ethernet-adap

  • Apple TV like Smart Home Hub?

Hey! I am keen to get the philips tint lights and stuff. I heard that the Apple TV can act as a hub. Does this mean that I have to buy the Philips tinted hub?

It would appear that you need what is called a tint of Philips (V2.0) bridge to manage communications between the lights and the Apple TV (4th generation). This will allow to use the features of Apple HomeKit, like controlling your lights through Siri. See http://www2.meethue.com/en-gb/friends-of-hue/apple-homekit/.

  • suddenly stops when the external usb hub is attached

My imac 27 inches 5 k 2015 suddenly stops when an external USB hub is attached supposedly designed specifically for the mac. (Cutting) The mac does not start I have to unplug it and reconnect to restart. I tried different hubs of this manufacturer and all do the same thing. Remove the hub, the computer is fine. Any ideas?

Well, try an another factory USB hub, I had good success with USB hubs powered from Belkin.

Question... are the hubs help powered or are bus powered USB? They are bus powered USB is your problem, the USB ports on iMac didn't supply enough power to power bus-powered USB hubs.

  • Cannot connect BT Hub 6 to Netgear booster

I upgraded my BT home Hub of a 5 to 6. The BT Hub 5 connected before my booster of Netgear (EX6100).

I tried to delete the old network Netgear since my IPAD - BTHub5-PMP3_2GEXT, however, the tab "network don't forget" does not exist.

The BT Hub is connected to a desktop via Ethernet cable

I tried to put the booster of Netgear next to the hub and connection using the WPS button, it does not connect.

    Any suggestions please.

    Steve

The booster can be to remember the old network. Is it possible to reset (clear) so he starts again?

You will perhaps connect to the EX6100 using your iPad and configure it manually, as explained in the manual.
