WRT120N

I recently bought a wrt120n wireless router.  I am replacing a unit from belkin of waste requiring a reboot about 5 times a day.

Belkin garbage unit has the ability to operate in 'access' point mode, essentially shut down all routing and it is just to be a member of the subnet.

Is it possible to do this with the wrt120n?

If not, he'll be back... as I really don't see the point of not being able to do it.  I know, I could buy a real AP, but I was already at Wal-Mart, and $49 seemed like a good deal.

I thought maybe I could turn off nat and use a static routing fantasy, but she seemed to be a lot of work considering... anyway, anyone know if it is possible to do.  Est.01, firmware and I vois.04 is the current.  The update of the firmware is maybe add this feature?

I assume that you want to use the WRT120N as a WAP (point), and you're ready to connect to your main router - is that correct?

If so, see my post at this address:

  • Can satellite A500-17 X - I get full speed with router Linksys WRT120N WLan?

I want to buy a "Linksys WRT120N" for my A500 - 17 X wireless router, and my question is can I get full speed with this router as 100 Mbps or more.
I don't have as much knowledge on wireless routers and that is why I ask.

    And the other question is:
This router will give me good signal in my apartment of 60 m 2 from one room to another?

    Hello

I think your question should be posted in the forum of the manufacturer of the router and not here in the forum of Toshiba.

Anyway. It seems that the Wlan WRT120N router is certified for
    IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802. 11 b, IEEE 802. 11 g, Wi - Fi CERTIFIED, IEEE 802.11n (draft 2.0)

As you can see the supported WiFi standards: 802.11 B, G and N

For your laptop s Wlan card supports Draft N, you should be able to connect to 802.11 N.

  • Just don't reset WRT120N

I'm seriously starting to hurt in the head. Urgh. Sorry if this question was asked before. I searched for a few hours now.

I'm trying to get this router to its original shape (pass: admin (?)) but the "hold for 45 seconds reset button and unplug for 30 seconds" just doesn't seem to work. When I try to install with the CD it just repeat myself that I have to reset it.

In short, how do reset you the WRT120N? Are lights assume to blink to indicate that you are is to take the bottom of reset?

    Thank you.

Make sure the router is powered. Then press + hold the reset button of your router for 30secs first. (Reset is located on the back panle to your router, you must use a pen or a paper clip to push the button) Because if the flashing power light which indicates that the router is reset and then powercycle the router to only 30secs.

If the power LED flashing press + hold the Reset button for 1 min, then Powercycle the router for 1 min. Then, check the IP address of your PC and then try to access UI (192.168.1.1) your router and use admin as password.

Another thing to be safe make sure you don't have any active firewall if you have to access the user interface of the router.

  • WRT120N does not accept my ID / password when you are using a linux (mint box)

I have a LAN House running boxes with different OS. "I can connect to my router, a WRT120N with no problems to http://192.168.1.1 from runing android Tablet and an old box of Windows XP, but when I try my main desktop, Linux Mint, (browser Firefox. 18.0.1) running, I get the same screen" 401 authorization required"as planned, but after I enter exactly the same user name and password and click"OK"screen" 401 authorization required "reappears with the empty boxes again.

If I click Cancel, I get a page saying:

    401 authorization required

Browser can not perform authentication or authentication failed. »

I don't see what I'm doing wrong, any advice would be appreciated!

    Thank you.

Found the answer to a variety of messages earlier on this forum.

The router will not accept authentication if the Firefox browser is set to 'Sites of Tell I want to be the subject of a follow-up'. Strange, but it seems to be a long-standing oopsie in the Linksys/Cisco software.

Under Firefox 18.0.1 (running under Linux Mint), there is a checkbox entitled: sites say I won't be the subject of a follow-up. Located under Edit > Preferences > privacy

I checked it and YES! My connection to the router WRT120N works now.

    Thank you very much indeed!

BTW the firmware on my router WRT120N is 1.0.04Firmware Version: v1.0.04

  • WRT120N Wireless laptop connected to the router, but does not connect to internet

I have a HughesNet HN9000 modem connected to a Linksys WRT120N router. I have two desktop computers, both running XP Home, connected to the router via ethernet .5e cables and work perfectly. I have a laptop running Vista Home Premium, I am trying to connect to the internet via the internal wireless card. According to me, the laptop connects with the wireless router, as it connects but says 'Local only' - it won't let me access the router IP/control panel. I tried to reset the router / modem as well as the parameters of the laptop, but I keep getting the same question.

If I connect the laptop and the port #3 on the router via a cable .5e I can browse the Internet. But I need to be able to use the laptop throughout the House so electrician is not an option.

I found this article which directed me to this download , which worked. If your help is most needed. Thanks anyway.

  • Printing on the network home using WRT120N router

At home, I have two desktops (bedroom and living room), a printer of room bedroom and a router WRT120N. Office of the bedroom is connected to the WRT120N route and the printer is connected to the desktop computer bedroom.  The Office of the living room is connected to the WRT120N route. I can print from the table of the House, but may not know how to print from the Office to the living room.

How can I print on the room from the living room office printer?

Run the file and Printer Wizard on your XP machine.  Under printer, you should see a little hand under the printer icon.  In the other computer, run the add a printer.  It will find your printer.

  • AE1000, WRT120N and WRT54G

    Hiya,

I have my WRT54G configured as an Access Point G/B with the WRT120N as the router and intended to be wireless N only for one couple of other computers that support theoretically superior performance...  The WRT54G manages all my G devices (TiVo, a couple of iPhones, a netbook adapter) with no problems.  The adapter AE1000N and the WRT120N, however, cannot connect unless I have change the N Router only Mixed, how they right hook to the top...  I would like to have suggestions to make the WRT120N-AE1000N combo to work together in wireless-N mode. (Windows 7 Pro.)  Thank you!

    Tim

What is the wireless settings you have set up on your router (SSID, channel, Security Mode)? Try changing the channel wireless on your router to 1 or 11 and then try to connect to your wireless network.

  • Linksys WRT120N constantly losing connection

I have a Linksys WRT120N wireless router that I have had for almost three years. Recently, he began to drop internet connections very randomly, sometimes several times in one hour. I lose my connection to the internet and connect locally to other laptops, then it will reconnect. It is also disconnect when wired and I have a playstation using a connection cable on the router and it loses the connection all the time as well. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is the cause, I'm sure that it is the router and not my internet service. Thank you

Try the following to get the improved signal strength:

    # Open the browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 which will open the router configuration page.

    # Bring back the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) of 1500 to 1400 or less (usually located on your main configuration page / database routers)

    # Do the channel width to 20 MHz only and the channel of 6, 9, 11...

    Settings wireless #Adjust the following:

    ~ ~ Reduced from 100 to 75 beacon interval

~ ~ Lower the threshold of fragmentation of 2346 to 2306

    ~ ~ Lower 2347 to 2307 RTS threshold

Now, check the status of the connectivity...

  • Stimulate the WRT120N range

    Hey there,

Configure a WRT120N router in my house.  I'm having a problem to get good coverage on my single floor ranch style home.  Does anyone have a suggestion?  Would change the Standard channel (currently set 6) make a difference?

    Suggestions please.

    Darrin Stern

Try the following settings on the router and check it out...

Set the Radio band to wide - 40 MHz and change the broad Channel 9 and channel Standard 11 - 2, 462 GHz... Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled, and then click on save settings... Under wireless settings advanced... Change the tag to 75 interval, change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2307.

  • WRT120N & iPhone 3GS

I have a WRT120N that is connected to a modem broadband cable. I have my desktop connected via a cable to the WRT120 and which works very well. However, I am unable to connect to the WRT120N with iPhone. I get the message: unable to join the network "".

I searched on the boards, but it is impossible to find something specific to the iPhone and WRT120N. If I missed something, I'd appreciate someone pointing me towards the correct message.

    Thanks in advance,

    Randy

Try to adjust the settings on the router wireless and check it out...

Open an Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop) wired page. In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press ENTER... Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase...

Click the Wireless tab, you set the SSID (network name) on a unique name, the broad channel to 40 MHz only, the channel of the scale to 9 and Standard channel to 11 - 2.462GHz.Click on save settings. In respect of the wireless sub-tab check the security key security.

Now, try to connect the iphone.

  • WRT120N of QoS does not work!

I have a WRT120N and have tried to implement the priorities using the QoS tab Applications and games.  Whenever I have 'Save Settings', it does not record. It refreshes the page and deletes everything I just put in place.

I did Live Chat and they told me it was my router. I returned it and got another... Same problem

Any suggestions / what happens to others?

If you encounter the same problem on both routers, then I don't think that this could be the problem with the router. I think that you should check the settings of your browser to your IE (Delete Cookies, delete files offline, delete Temp files). Disable the firewall on your computer and then try to make the changes on your router...

If this still does not work then you can try to make changes on your router from another computer and check if you are able to make the changes on your router.

  • Big problem WRT120N

Hello, I have the wireless WRT120N router, never had a problem.

Now serves as router works weird wireless perfect, but ethernet does not work.

I have tried different computers, tried resetting to the factory settings, update firmware I tried and nothing does the ethernet works.

Another funny thing, it's the same with all the ethernet ports unplugged, port 2 "flashes".

    Any suggestion?

Have you tried using another Ethernet port? Looks like a defective router for me. Give him an another long reset (a minute), and then check the LEDs. If the power led blinks or port 2 flashes even otherwise that related to him, I guess it's time to move to a new and faster router.

  • WRT120N weak signal in the floor!

I have a Cisco Linksys WRT120N router... She carried the signal perfect on current floor, but it has low signal to reach the floor down.

in the floor down the signal to reach is alone in a room, because in addition to this room is where the router is there... Please advise me what I should buy Cisco Signal Expander or wireless access Point... Please notify the one who agrees with the model number and also tell me what difference b/t the two!

    Thank you!

You have a N series router I suggest you get the access point WAP4410N because you can use this device as an Access Point and as an extension of range in Repeater mode. The difference between the two devices, you can use the access point Client mode and Repeater mode both but WRE54G (amplifier) will function as an Expander of signal.

  • Web interface of WRT120N show WiFi Protected Setup message repeatedly

We have a WRT120N already configured and used for 2-3 years, which recently began displaying a message asking me to press the Wi - Fi Protected Setup button on the device. While in this State, work DHCP and wireless connection settings remain the same. It seems that the internet connection works if the router was not in that State when turned on, but not if the router was in this state when it is started.

A few weeks ago, he did something where the wireless connection on my laptop would display Wi - Fi Protected Setup instead of WPA2 Personal as security, and then the connection would drop after a short period. Turning on the device, and then turn that would set, but does not necessarily solve the current problem. It happened a few times, but not more recently.

The device is out of range, then the WiFi Protected Setup button has not been pushed back. Before this problem came up, I had downloaded a firmware update, but not him have not applied because the router is difficult to access, and now I'm worried that the device could be unusable if I try to do the update.

I'm guessing that maybe it's a physical failure due to the humid climate here. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

Hard reset the router and reconfigure from scratch.  Once completed and verified working updated the firmware, hard reset and reconfigure back once again.

  • How to set up WRT120N

Hello. I have the following problem. I use a static IP address and I use router wrt120n, but to connect to the internet, I plugged the internet cable in the 1,2,3,4 (any) slot. So now I use the part wireless router without "shaping" if I can afford. When I put the internet cable into the slot in the Internet from the router, the laptop can simply connect to the internet - it shows an unidentified without access to the Internet network. I don't know what kind of changes I need to make in the WEB interface of the router. I think I set the type of the connection - now is DHCP and may be putting my IP address, DNS, SubnetMask in the router configuration, but do not know exactly how. I tried to configure the router with the CD interface but it's same - network not identified when the cable is plugged into the port (yellow) Internet. How to configure the router to a router, and not only a wireless switch?

Looks like the question is weird. If you connect directly to the modem, you can access the internet?

On the Device Manager, click view on the top. Select to see the hidden device. That should show you something, here.
