Turn on your router. Wait 30 seconds.

Press and hold the reset for 30 seconds button.

  • Configuration wireless router WRT54G without CD - problems with manual installation

Hello.  I have a WRT54G Router that I've used over the years, because my former cable provider provided me with the router.  I recently switched to cable operators & they do not provide a wireless routers.  I would use my WRT54G Router, but I don't have the cd.  I thought that it wasn't a problem because I can just do a manual installation using the 192.168.1.1 ip address.  I get the pop up window to enter user name & password.  I followed the instructions & just type in the word admin password field & l left the user name empty, but it does not work.  Can someone please?  I know that I can solve this problem.  It is not sensible to spend money for another router when this can be a simple solution.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Press and hold the reset on the back for 30 seconds and then release.  Wait 10 seconds and power cycle.  Now, try again.

  • Cannot complete the installation on WRT54GS and connect to internet

Hello everyone.  I recently was good to a WRT54GS v.2, which came from a member of the family which has improved their wireless router and therefore passed it along to me.  It worked perfectly for them, but not me.

I tried to use the installation CD and do a manual installation, but no internet connection is detected.  I have to admit being a total newbie router wireless, this is my first, so I am confused as what to do then.  I looked through the forum and the FAQ, but I don't know what could be applied to my situation and I am not very well versed in the terminology, I tend to get lost.

If someone could be kind enough to help me out or point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.

    Thank you!

OK, I have another update, lol.

I have just gone to the configuration page and decided that, what the devil, I would return the automatic DHCP settings instead of the PPPoE to see what is happening, and here I can now browse the internet!  Certainly, it's Wired installation and now I have to set up our second computer with the network adapter hope it will connect with the wireless router, which is the point of this whole exercise, but at least, I'm a lot closer.  No baby, lol.

Thank once again for all the kind help.

  • interesting installation problem... WRT54G

I'm trying to configure a custom installation instead to my home wireless network. I am running Windows Server 2008 with DHCP server on my PC that is connected to the router of office. Router is a WRT54G. I use a Motorola DSL modem provided by ATT. I had the DHCP configuration to be configured through my server because the WRT54G does not support, and I would have to activate the redirection port and remote access. My Setup was working perfectly yesterday. Today, I come home from work and find that the internet is out. I bypass the router and connect directly to the modem, and it works perfectly. I go to the router settings and try to reconnect (via PPPoE), but the modem comes back as not be able to receive an IP address. I tried to clone the MAC of the router, changed the router and my network for a 192.168.2.1 subnet, all to nothing does not. My server is running 2 connections to the router. port 1 is used to configure the DHCP server, port 2 is the network connection.

    Ideas, comments or advice appreciated.

figured it out. Connect the DSL modem to port 3 on the router instead of a WAN port, and 2 my office ethernet connections. Reset the default router, the value it's IP 192.168.1.3, because my DHCP server is 192.168.1.2, and I didn't want to duplicate the modem. Has worked very well, only had to redo the initial setup of my ISP. In addition, was able to leave router in the automatic configuration DHCP instead of PPPoE.

    Problem solved :-)

I can't access the page of my router (wrt54g) configuration after the installation. The router works fine, but whenever I try to connect to 192.168.1.1 it says the password is incorrect. The first time that I put up I changed the default user name and password and I thought I'd simply forgotten, so I reset the device. This time I don't change any of the default values, and I can not even log on. I have to reset it several times, and you're just annoying. Anyone know how to prevent it from happening? I thought it might be a firmware issue, but I can not find all downloads for my version of road ' rs (V8). I use a macbook pro, osx 10.9.2.

  • Uninstalling software WRT54G

    Hi all

I have been using a WRT54G Router for many years.  Great router!  I have upgraded to an EA3500 and need an answer to a question.  Is there a software for the WRT54G that must be uninstalled before installing the EA3500?  I remember an installation CD for the WRT54G running which I did more.  I looked to uninstall all over my computer and cannot find anything.  I am running Vista.

I'd love to help appreciate with sunrise the new router and running.  Are there any problems that may exist to upgrade to the EA3500?  I have so many devices connected through the router noiw I thought it was time to upgrade.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Installation with WRT310N wireless router problem

I have currently an old model WRT54G Router installed wireless that works very well, but I need the WPS technology if I want to install a newer model WRT310N router. I used the installation cd supplied with the router, which has not seen any problem until I removed the old router and plugged in power in the new after connecting the anc ethernet cables to my cable modem. For some reason any the software wont recognize the new router so I can continue with the configuration of the installation. Since I plugged the new router in the same connections that I had had the old LInksys router connected to, I do not understand why and I can not proceed with the installation. I finally just reinstalled... connected., my old router and it works fine, but this isn't a solution for me.

It might have something to do with the sequence to connect the different cables? I also tried to use 192.168.1.1. via my browser and could up the installation screens but it wont let me install the new router so that the old one is still in place and without the old one in place, I can not access the configuration on my desktop screens.

I have my router in a closet with my... cable modem... .but the WRT54G worked fine for 2 years in the same cupboard and I also installed a Netgear N600 router as an alternative. is it installed fine until what happened to the point where he said the beach was too limited. .i guess work in the closet.  I guess I can buy a range extender to solve this problem, but I have no experience with those so im not sure if this will solve the problem. I prefer to get the Linksys WRT310N to work if possible.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks for the tips on how to handle this. Fortunately, I discovered later that the Linksys router, I bought on ebay, is apparently defective and it now resides in my trash. That said, I also realized with the help of a neighbor that my Kindle works with the good old Linksys router I used for 4 years or more. My problem was to not understand how to download books on the Kindle, even though I thought I did. So the problem is moot. Sorry I got worth this site with no problem.

  • As a second router WRT54G

    Hello

In my home network, I have two routers connected LAN - LAN mode. My main router (not a Linksys router) is connected to the ISP by modem and my secondary router, which is a Linksys wrt54g, connected to the main router with wired connection. I followed the instructions here:

    http://www.Linksys.com/ca/support-article?articleNum=132275

Everything works fine except that I can't access the administration page of the secondary router remotely. I tried to configure the VPN connection and redirect to the main router, but the administration of the port of the secondary router page is not accessible (while the accessible primary router administration page).

My question is can I access the administration page of the secondary router remotely when two routers connected? If yes how do I configure the router of the secondary (VPN, port forwarding, etc.) and the first?

    Thank you in advance.

Hi, topplenz. Possible reasons that you cannot remotely access the secondary router is because the DHCP server has been disabled through the installation of LAN to LAN and the secondary router depends on the IP address of the a main. We suggest to use the LAN to WAN cascading instead.

  • How to implement as a router WRT54G - Type of Internet connection in cascade

    Dear Sir / Madam

Been scouring the Internet and seems that nobody begs the question...

I'm trying to configure my Linksys WRT54G (v5) as a regular secondary router (turn off wifi) cascading off my another Wifi router that is connected to an internet modem.  I went through the web and found useful points on other areas of the installation program.

However, in the "Basic settings" page under "Setting up the Internet" for "Type of Internet connection", what should I choose?  I am NOT connect the WRT54G to the internet modem, on the contrary, I'm linking to the internet via my primary router.

    Help, please!  Thank you!

    Simon Mak

Hi, simon_s_mak. Yes, you can set it to auto DHCP. It wouldn't really matter, since the DHCP capability will be disabled.  Therefore, it will exercise a switch only.

  • Replace BEFW11S4, WRT54G

Where can I find instructions for replacing an existing one with a new WRT54G LinkSys Router?  EasyLink is not cooperating.

I need to replace my old BEFW11S4 with my new WRT54G, but EasyLink does not detect S 11, 4 - he advises just insert me the 54G between my PC and the cable Modem.  I first tried to replace S 11, 4 by the 54G, but EasyLink then reports an interruption of the Internet [duh].  I then tried to insert the 54G on each side of the of the 11S 4 [assuming that I could possibly figure out how to tear the S 11, 4], but EasyLink does not detect the 54G on each side of the S 11, 4.

The manual is located on the installation CD and the Web of Linksys site.  Search and you will find...

  • Installation Wizard is unable to detect my print server

Hi, I just bought a print server WPSM54g, I have ejecuted the installation wizard and I'll put up the product for the first time. In step 6, that the wizard does not detect the print server and I can't go any further with the installation.

I downloaded the new version of the wizard, but the same problem appeared.

I will appreciate if someone can help me solve this problem. I am running Win XP SP3, the printer is an Epson CX3900 Multiuse (latest drivers installaded) and I have a Linksys WRT54g wireless router.

    Thanks in advance.

Connection: Printer ==> ==> router print server... Make sure that your printer drivers are installed...

Check the settings of your wireless router wireless, follow the link here

    (1) for the installation of the print server, open your router configuration, click on the 'Status' tab and go the 'Local area network', under LAN sub-tab click DHCP Client table and find the IP address of the print server...

    (2) enter the IP address in the IE address bar and press ENTER, it should encourage user and the password for the print server... Enter the default admin password (if you have changed the password enter the password), and then click OK... You shoul see the configuration of the print server page...

    3) click on the Wireless tab and enter your network name/SSID and WEP/WPA security settings... Make sure you have wireless settings are identical on both devices (router and print server), if they are not identical, they communicate... Save the settings once...

    4) click the Protocol tab and select use the following IP address and enter IP address: 192.168.1.70(assuming votre routeur est 192.168.1.1) subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 and click Save...

    (5) wait 30 seconds and close IE and re - open, see if you can open the configuration of the print server with it of new IP Address (192.168.1.70) and click OK... Double check the wireless settings and see if it matches your router...

    (6) disconnect the Ethernet cable from your router to your print server... Unplug the power cable from printing to serve, wait 30 seconds, unplug the power cable from the router, wait 30 seconds, connect the power cable to your print server, wait for 30 seconds and connect the power cable to your router... Your print server must be configured by here...

    (7) to double check open th IE and enter the IP address of the print server and see if you can get to the configuration page... If so, your print server is configured... If this is not the case, see step 3...

    (8) now to launch the CD and select Computer Configuration and follow the instructions (if you are prompted for any IP address, remember to enter the IP address of the printer server)... Once this is done... restart the computer and see if you can print... Run the CD on the rest of the computer from where you need to print...

  • WRT54G and WRT160NL Torrents

OK so here is my setup. I have a wrt54g directly on my access to the internet at home. There his hard cable to my wrt160nl where my desktop computer is connected. I would like to open a port for a torrent program to use, but I have no idea how to do that. Ive looked around a few guides but haven't found one that works. any help is really appreciated! (im sure this has been posted b4 but still, I couldn't find any soultions for my situation)

If you want to run the two WRT as a router and have two separate local networks, you will have a much more complicated installation and the port forwarding for your torrents can turn out to be complicated, if not impossible. You must configure the port forwarding on both routers.

I highly recommend to use a single router with a LAN configuration. The second router will be used as a switch access point and equipment.

    For example like this:

    1. the WRT54G connect to your modem and a address LAN IP 192.168.1.1.

    2. the WRT160NL is configured with the address LAN IP 192.168.1.2. DHCP server disabled.

    3. the WRT160NL is connected by one of its ports LAN for the WRT54G. Do not use the internet port of the WRT160NL.

The WRT54G deals now all functions related to the internet. Customers on the WRT160NL connect directly to your local network and through the WRT54G to internet. Port forwarding must be configured on the WRT54G and there only. It's the simplest and probably most reliable installation for you.

Of course, you can also swap the two routers in the previous configuration, either you use the WRT160NL as internet gateway and the WRT54G only as an access point.

The access points in both routers must be configured with different SSID as they use differnet wireless standards (unless you spend the WRT160NL wireless-g only).

  • WRT54GS problem with bittorrent

I have a WRT54GS, flashed to firmware v 1.52.8. It was working fine until a recent move. I put in place after that I moved into my new place and got connected services (Comcast) and that's when I noticed the problem. I have a PC connected via CAT5 via the router and use the point wireless for my laptop. In the past, my average download speed on torrents with seeds decent were about 1.5-3 MB/s (Yes, it's MBps Mbps not...) I know the difference) recently however, they head to anywhere from 150 to 250 Kbps Kbps. Uploads are not affected... they seem to be on average about the same. In addition, during the torrent download, web browsing/email/etc does not work: everything happens to expire despite the QoS settings I have in place on the router to avoid these problems.

At first, I assumed it was my ISP throttling my connection - Comcast has been called to do in the past, after all - but after testing the Glasnost reported no limitation by my ISP, I tried with the PC connected directly to a cable modem. Result: sustained speeds of download of 2.5-3 MB/s during two trials downloads (Ubuntu Installer ISO). During these downloads, I could navigate to wesites without getting timeout errors as I do when behind the router. This highlights quite peremptorily the WRT54GS as the source of my problem, so I wonder if anyone has any suggestions to solve this other than to launch the router and get a new.

EDIT: I should mention that I have only torrent on the PC, so it's not a wireless issue.

Do a reset factory and try it without changing all the settings except the foundations (e.g., wireless security, password)
