  There is no way to not use the original memory.   I was given a specification for a number of virtual machines by architect application a few months back.

  2 x Red Hat 6, 64 GB of memory, 4 CPU

  2 x Red Hat 6, 32 GB memory, 4 CPU

  These VM used about 75% of my cluster resources total. I followed these virtual machines, and it has been proven that these machines have been singularly most spec'd. In reality, the memory usage is not more than 1% of the amount awarded. For one of my hosts in the cluster, I can see active 1.5 GB on 26.5 consumed Go. Despite my protests and sending on a steady stream of performance statistics, I have had these machines resized.

  I am aware that VMware do not advise the use of excessive pressure in a production environment. However, I intend to approve the memory on my cluster (ESXi 4.1 vSphere) to make the most of the lost memory.

  So I wanted to run it past you guys to see if I could make any false assumptions on VMWare memory management. Are there certain conditions (like mine) approve what memory should be?

  One last piece of information, for the moment none of the 4 systems have install the driver of the ball and yet, the VMWare tools have been installed without it. However, I convinced the admins to install the balloon pilot sending them information how the balloon pilot prevents the host swap which itself may impact system performance.

  I agree with David and would like to share an interesting opportunity: once the balloon driver is installed in these virtual machines, you will be able to force balooning over them by setting a limit of RAM resource that is less than the amount of RAM configured. This means for example you can restrict the VM 32 GB to 24 GB (or even less), and the balloon pilot will fly the surplus of 8 GB and put it back in ESXi.

  Of course in production, you should use this method only as a last resort, but there is a chance that the VM admins who will never even notice. In the past, I tried that with some strongly oversized Windows/Exchange test servers that were in State, and the admins were not aware of a problem until one day that they really started to use the system...

  I am running Yosemite (10.10.5) on a 15 "MacBook Pro with the display Retina (MBP). In the last four days, I burned about ¾ of a terabyte of various files (mostly photos) on DVD and CD using a USB 3.0 external drive (Pioneer BDR-XD06S).

  I copy a Seagate 2 TB external hard drive (default) file folder on the MBP, burn the required DVD or CD, then copy the original file of the MBP on a new 3TO Fantom external hard drive and delete it from the MBP. I would also delete any folder of "Untitled DVD" that has been created... and again after having burned the first two discs, each time that the deletion of the file is complete there will be less space storage available on the MBP than before.  Now the MBP says there only 99,58 GB of available storage - even accounting for all of the new files I transferred into the MBP of my camera, my iPhone update, etc etc, that the number is too low at least 45-50 GB!

  Utility disk, says all is OK, but I'm more nervous about storage disappears as if by magic. It's my first Mac with SSD storage instead of a conventional hard drive, so I don't know what to think - if someone has encountered this problem and if so how to recover space lost memory?
