WRT54GL DROPS WAN

Got a wrt54gl with tomato 1.23. He abandoned the WAN (cable modem) connection when the modem itself abandoned the connection for some reason; However after the modem comes back online and tomato shows in his page with the WAN connection as 'connected', you still cannot browse the internet. I know that the modem is good because if I connect directly to a computer, I CAN browse AND if I get (off ramp exit/Activ) powercycle the router, things return to normal. I can reproduce the problem by feeding and turn on the modem, which turns into exactly the same results, tomato showing the WAN that plugged in, but with the navigation impossible.

I've been breaking my head about that person, here is some of the things I've tried:

-With the help of different routers, I have 4 wrt54gl, some more recent that other, newer is fresh out of the box.

-Clear NVRAM memory, doing resets hard.

-The WAN connection is DHCP, tried to "trick" the router static IP, but without being able to navigate.

-Tried checking the ARP tables, routing tables, ifconfig vlan0 downs and UPS (upon entering the router via ssh). Does not work although the paintings look like exactly the same before and after I have to reproduce the problem.

-Cannot ping the gateway given by DHCP, even though the routing tables show the path to him.

-Tried iptables f thorugh the console of the router, no nothing.

-Tried the firmware linksys of origin, with the same results.

N ' use is not apps torrent or something like that, just good old web navigation.

Here is the log of routers (to this day).

Now I have reduced to problems of communication between the modem and the router WHEN the modem disconnects, for some reason, worth mentioning that I CAN see the modem from the local network by going to its web interface, I can't use internet.

Please help me on this one.

Yes, Googling, it (and agree with you) I found that there is a timing issue with this SPECIFIC router, but it is not more than that.

In any case, I found a solution to:

http://victek.is-a-geek.com/REPOSITORIOS/Linksys/firmware/tomato/scripts/

I used the script gateway2 to basically restart the wan (instead of the router itself) when the gateway does not respond to the ping command. I put this in a chron job every minute. It works, but it's not elegant.

Well, I hope that the most recent routers do not have this problem. I'm waiting for 802.11n to get out (like not really rough). I hope that will be promptly accompanied by openwrt or tomato.

Out of the object, if the sync problem is hardware related (because I guess it is) how could it not be fixed with open firmware? These 54 were long enough.

  • How to add the WRT54GL network as AP

I have an existing router with network, all computers have manually assigned IPs. Now, I want to add WRT54GL to serve visitors with the radio. For them to WRT54GL DHCP assign IPs in the range no other computer in LAN uses. I want that they have access to the internet and to the rest of the LAN.

If I connect WRT54GL by WAN port they only access to internet, but can not see LAN.

But if I connect via LAN, I can access LAN, but not the internet. It works, if I put the IP of the router (on WRT54GL on 192.168.100.1 but now he is in conflict with the main grave failure of router and network). I do not understand why wireless computers get WRT54GL IP as the gateway and not 192.168.100.1 as it is defined in the basic configuration.

I guess I should do something in advanced routing, but which?

You can try tomato or DD-WRT. Tomato, it's a little less 'crowded' that DD - WRT, but you can add options specific to the configuration of DNSMASQ (the DHCP server that works under Linux) that will specify a default gateway.

If you decide to go to the tomato (which I am more familiar with more of dd - wrt), DNCP/DNS has a box in which you can set options of configuration of DNSMASQ. There is also a link on this page for a site that has great descriptions of DNSMASQ. This site ar options below:

    to set the default 192.168.4.4 route option, do -dhcp-option = 3, 192.168.4.4 or -dhcp-option = option: router, 192.168.4.4

  • Problem setting 2 networks with 2 routers

    Hi all

I tried to set up networks of mini 2 using 2 routers Linksys (WRT150N & WRT54GL) just for proof of concept before moving on to bigger and more complex configurations.  For some odd reason, I can't get this ridiculously simple network to work for me.  I scoured internet and I think I have an understanding of what needs to be done, but it does not work for me.

So I came to the conclusion that it is me or the material.  Before I blame the material, I would someone know to check if my configuration is correct.  It's really very simple that it's laughable, why it won't work.  In short, this is what I did:

My Windows XP PC Office (set to "Obtain an IP automatically") is connected to the WRT150 (WAN-side: DHCP, LAN side IP 192.168.1.1, SM 255.255.255.0 GW: 192.168.2.1).  The WAN port on the WRT150 is connected to a LAN of the WRT54GL port (WAN-side: DHCP, LAN side IP 192.168.2.1, SM 255.255.255.0 GW: 0.0.0.0).  Also connected to a port LAN of the WRT54GL is a laptop XP ("obtain IP automatically").  I have verified that the PC and laptop and the WRT150 got their IPs since the respective DHCP.

My simple test of this network would be ping from the PC to the WRT150 router (192.168.1.1) and ping the laptop too.  I ping the router but not the laptop.  What I read, I should be able to ping side WAN (192.168.2.x) of the WRT150 as well, but which is not the case or the other.

Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong and care to enlighten me?

Any enlightenment will be greatly appreciated.

  • WRT54GL wired connection drops

I've got a WRT54GL Wireless G from Linksys. I do not currently use wireless. (I've disabled.) It worked fine when I got it, but now removes several times a day. The frequency of drops has increased during the last two weeks. A manual reboot of the WRT54GL resets the connection. (The connection is lost too whenever the computer is restarted and it also forces me to restart the WRT54GL)

To initially get a connection, I had to follow the routers cascading tutorial that requires the internet to be put at the first port and way wired for access from the second computer. (Because I'm using a combination modem/router device, connect the cable to the modem/router directly on the internet/ADSL port on the WRT54GL did not.)

I tried to access Google directly by IP (74.125.159.106) and this does not work, even if I can't actually search. (I deleted the browser cache before checking this.) The lights on the modem/router and the WRT54GL are turned on, then the two seem to work fine. I can also access the web interface for the WRT54GL. (I don't think I can access the web interface of the router/modem, but I need to confirm that the next time the connection drops).

For this reason, I don't know if it's really drop the connection, or if I'm just unable to what location. What I read, it can be linked to a dns issue, but I don't know much about these things.

    Thanks for any help

Maybe you've found the 192.168.1.x ip address between your modem and that's why you get no internet when you connect the modem to the router on the internet port.

Your router does not work as a router here... You connect the modem to the router to the Ethernet port, it works as a switch...

I would suggest that allowing you to convert the modem in Bridge mode and then connect the modem to the router on the internet and computer port to the router to the ethernet port... Now open the linksys configuration page by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and configure the router with PPPoE settings.

The second is option... Connect the modem to the router on the internet and computer port to the router to the ethernet port... Now open the linksys configuration page by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. Now, change the ip address of the router linksys 192.168.2.1 and save settings... Network power cycle and it should.

    Check out this link.

If you have found the intermittent connection to the router then, reduce the MTU to 1350 and cycle power to the router.

  • Drops connection WAN LRT214

    Hello

I just put up my new LRT214 as a replacement for my D-Link standard DWR-921.

My ISP have active DHCP and my old router was just set up to automatically get and it just worked.

Now I have implemented mt LRT214 in the same way. Router mode: Bridge, WAN: get an ip via DHCP. Nothing else configured.

Now, after a minute or so he obtain an IP and DNS, default GW. Everything is great and I can't Web browser.

Now, after a minute or two then the connection to the Wan has been abandoned. Wait a minute and his place again. Another minute and it falls again. And so on and so forth.

  • Of the EA6300 firmware auto update during installation, no random to WAN WAN gigabit drops

Really, I just want the previous firmware, it will not return to the previous firmware, even if she has detected a version more recent and downloaded/installed. Possible problem during this update I want to redo, but not possibility because no prior firmware exists.

Leads me to believe there is something in the previous firmware you guys want that we know or have once again.

    Serious security loophole eventually.

The ultimate question is random disconnects Arris 822 g at the EA6300,.

But I noticed after installing updated the link to the Modem Gigabit droped to 100Mbit negligible for speeds we have but always notworthy and anxiety.

Have tried everything I can think of outside custom through 3rd party firmware. or change your firmware which is not necessary, but I did to belkins for their security flaws which I do class action about what I discovered with their firmware on several other class of devices.

This is implemented for the parental units and EA is supposed to be EASY for them. I have them walked through the process just for your device does not works as advertised.

Don't blame the Arris it worked and maintaines on other EA devices connection. I don't appreciate finger that help professionals tend to blame everything other than your device, then try not to do.

It is a question of Linksys EA6300.

    Bought another ea6300.
The object of dumping the firmware out of it.
Corrupt firmware of EA6300 question of dumping.
Installed prerequisite firmware dumped on EA6300 issue.

  • Internet connection drops

The OS is El Capitan 10.11.3 on both my MacBook Mid 2010 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR & iMac 21.7 end 2012 2.9 GHz Intel Core i5 8 BG 1600 MHz DDR3, connection to the internet with the 5th generation Airport Extreme. The internet connection drops without model except that diagnosis shows a cable ethernet disconnected between the Airport Extreme and the ISP modem. I can install an older Airport Extreme I replaced about 4 years ago because there was no support for WPA security with the same Ethernet cable and the connection does not fall. I can also plug the MacBook with the power cord and connect via Ethernet. Is it possible that the Ethernet WAN port for the modem to ISP is down? The reason why I ask is that I install the older airport with the same ethernet cable. (I have other cat5 cables, but none of them are cross-cable as the cable provider ISP) I don't want to leave the network upward with the old airport because I have no security.  I price a new Airport Extreme and a cable crossed, but I'd feel better spending the money if I can be pretty sure that the 5th generation extreme is a failure. Anyone have any ideas?

Some modems are more problematic that others... you must tell us the details.

This modem you have, make and model please?

You don't show us the summary for the AE, but if you run 7.6.4 firmware, it is less stable with some modems than previous 7.6.1 (this is why the old AE does not fall).

Please firmware downgrade to the AE to 7.6.1. For this, hold down the option key while clicking on the version number of the existing firmware. A list... Select 7.6.1 (DO NOT USE 7.6.3. it is poor..).

The latest version of AC AE is even worse... so I recommend you to buy a different brand of router... you can continue to use EI as WAP, as long as you take on their track, it should work ok.

  • Satellite L300 PSLBGE network connection drops randomly times

    Hey,.

I had this problem with my laptop because I bought 1.5 years ago.
Now I launch Windows 7 x 64 with the latest bios (version 2.20 - WIN; day 25/02/10), chipset and wireless (the card is a: Realtek Wireless LAN Adapter 8187 B; driver version: 62.1182.0331.2010) drivers.

The problem is that my network connection drop at random times.
This produces both with my wireless lan card and it comes up with a variety of routers (at work and at home I use a linksys wrt54gl, but I tried it on all the other routers with the same result).

I don't think it's a hardware failure, since the network seems to work very well under Linux (I tried Ubuntu 10). Also some time I took it for warranty service and they said that the material is fine, but I should "not use many programs at the same time and use Windowx XP.

I understand the different devices (card WiFi, network card, webcam, etc.) inside the laptop are connected to some kind of usb hub. My guess is that it is something wrong with this "hub", given that the webcam works as defective.

    Thank you

    > From what I understand the different devices (card WiFi, network card, webcam, etc.) inside the laptop are connected to some kind of usb hub. My guess is that it is something wrong with this "hub", given that the webcam works as defective.

No, the card WLan and LAN card are not connected to the USB just the webcam interfaces so it cannot be any USB issue.

I think it might be a problem of Windows since Linux is OK

I think you should check the power management settings in Windows 7 and card Wlan /LAN. This can be done in the Manager of devices-> WLan / LAN card-> Advanced tab properties.

I also recommend upgrading from win 7 to the last installation of State all updates and patches

  • LRT224 hickups: abandon the WAN connection?

    Hello

my new LRT224 shows hickups in my regard.

It is connected to a fiber-optic 100Mbps of my ISP connection.

If I try to stream video, it creates every minute or so a second or two to break up the transmission.

Obviously, this breaks my video stream.

The newspaper of the device (see below), says 'WAN connection fell', which seems rather strange and unexpected for me.

If I don't stream video and data binding is almost at rest, these messages of 'WAN fell' intermittent continue.

If I take the LRT outside and connect my PC directly to the line of ISP (Yes, bad practice) I don't have these hickups, and fine video streams (to a few Mbps).

I have updated the firmware to v1.0.1.01 but that has not made a difference.

In fact, I have disabled the 2nd WAN port.

"Dual WAN', the 'activate the Network Service detection' is not marked in the config. By selecting "Connection failover" or "Load balance" shows no difference (no improvement).

No idea why the LRT report "WAN connection is dropped?

I need urgently a solution, but the issue seems beyond my skills...

(In the newspaper, I also see "violation of policy. I don't know why they happen: I have no rules of firewall on the LAN or WAN IP addresses...)

    Thanks for any idea!

    Hello

Thanks for your replies!  I looked in the settings and methods to verify this behavior.

In the end, I decided that the behaviour of "drop the WAN" is not not to blame the LRT224: it seems really to be created by the ISP (the fiber modem): when I plug a small switch between the router and the modem 'abandonment WAN' messages have disappeared.  Now I 'just' convince my ISP to do something...

  • Problems connecting a WRT54GL to an AG241V2

I have been using the AG241v2 router to connect my PC to the internet, the PC does not have a wireless card, so I use a cable ethernet to the router.  This works perfectly well.

I recently bought a WRT54GL Wireless router so that I can have wireless access for other devices.  I can't do the two devices communicate with each other.  Can someone help with the problem of getting the AG241 and the WRT54GL to connect?

Hi, daviddaydevon. Aside from that sabretooth suggested, you can also do the LAN WAN Setup. You will need to change the local IP address of the WRT54GL for conflict of IP.  We can refer to this link, http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=785463d9ecaf4cac84aed245b08d615f_3733.xml&pid=80&r... and follow the LAN WAN Configuration. Hope that helps.

Hi, radius75. As long as you download the version appropriate for your router, this should work fine. You can check the European version at this link.

  • WRT54GL abandons the connection when you are using the 2.4 Ghz cordless phone.

I recently upgraded to a Linksys WRT54GL router and also hooked into a phone jack of magic using a 2.4 Ghz cordless phone. The interent connection is perfectly fine until I try to use the wireless phone.

Within 60 seconds, the completely wireless signal drops and interrupts the connection from the phone. About 30-60 seconds later the wireless signal comes back and sometimes the computer reconnects automatically.

My router is in a totally different room on one ground other than cordless phone base, and I already changed the channel on my router for 11. My computer is the only thing in the House using the Wi - Fi connection at the moment. What causes this problem & how to fix it?

p.s. The wired computer sees no interruption of internet connection while the phone is in use.

  • Troubleshoot WRT54GS-> problem connecting WRT54GL.

This is the configuration I had until recently: DSL-> (by wire)-> WRT54GS-> (by wire)-> WRT54GL-> (via radio)-> computer.  Basically, the GL is an access point.  Unfortunately yesterday he stopped working for some reason, so I did a hard reset on the router (30 seconds by holding down the reset button), and I have not been able to restore. I tried to do it via the following steps:

    (1) make sure that only my laptop and power are connected to the GL via a LAN port (and the power supply).

    (2) uncheck all boxes in the firewall section.

    (3) disable the built in firewall.

    (4) * apply settings *.

    (5) according to the installation program, click on "advanced routing" and change it to "router" mode

    (6) * apply settings *.

    (7) according to the base configuration, disable DHCP.

    (8) assign the router an IP address that is not in the GS range (192.168.0.2) DHCP.

    (9) set the time on the GL.

    (10) unplug my laptop of the GL.

    (11) connect the cable of the GS in the GL via a LAN, not the WAN port port.

    (12) to plug my laptop in the GL test via a LAN port.

Here is what I do to test (with laptop (wireless)-> gl (wire)-> gs (wire)-> dsl):

    (1) see if I can get DHCP from the SG on the laptop.  So far, I was unable to do so.  However, the DHCP table of the GS (status-> LAN-> Table Clients DHCP) says he cannot see the laptop, but it assigned a DHCP entry.

    (2) see if I can ping the GS, GL or another computer on the network to the laptop via a wired connection.  So far, I was unable to do so.

    (3) see if I can ping the GL or the laptop to your desktop connected wireless to the GS.  So far, I was unable to do so.

    (4) when it does not, swear (it's cathatric at least), do a "hard reset" on the router by holding the button stays down for 30 seconds and start again at the top.

(Please note: at this point the only active wireless is the GS.)  The wireless on the GL is disabled.)

I tried the steps above, three times and it didn't work.  The only other thing I can think of is to configure the GL to work instead of the GS and see if I can get a wired connection to my dsl.  DSL-> (wire) GL-> (wire) laptop.

I don't know what else to try... anyone have suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

Well I fixed it.  In short, I deleted Zone Alarm from my laptop, re-flashed the firmware stock and re-set the GL.  Everything works now.  I do not feed cycle nothing except the GL (I have not seen your most recent post which suggests that carrot).  Despite the closure, ZA must have been screwing with the flash or the juuuust configure enough to screw up somehow.

I don't know why I did not mention Zone Alarm earlier because I know it's a terrible program that will continue to block traffic even after stopping, or why I'm not deleting it earlier, but I guess I thought "stopping is good enough."  As I just discovered, no, l ' down is not good enough.

Moral of the story: I don't like Zone Alarm, and he doesn't like me.  If you can't get your router/wap/what is working, and you are running Zone Alarm, remove it and try again the configuration/flashing/whatever.

  • Find & network configuration address to WRT54GL v1.1

    G ' Day.

I'm usually successful using a WRT54GL in a small network office at home, but want to determine it's LAN and WAN network address and then set them manually.  How can I find it?  It is no longer default 192.168.1.1 because that is used by my DSL modem.  Both are connected to a network end switch and connected via wired LAN computers and portable WAN.

My specific problem, is that I find it difficult to get a Squeezebox WAN to see the router.  I suspect it's wrong with floating of network addresses, so I'm eager to do manual tasks.  My first reaction is to not not to reset the router because I think he will want to take the address of the DSL modem.  Of course I could change the address of the modem, but since then, it's not broken...

WRT54GL tomato 1.21 turns.  I'm a newbie to network.  I tried without success after another post: http://forums.linksysbycisco.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Access_Points&message.id=9160&query...

    Thank you!

'Default gateway' was the Buzzword needed - thank you.  When previously asking ipconfig, I didn't know what it was.

I don't know why, but I could not find the router using a desktop computer, but could by using a portable, always-connected computer with a network switch inbetween in both cases.  I think that the above suggestion was to connect ethernet directly between the computer and the router, but the first who did not find the gateway address using a web browser, and a second attempt successful with the network switch inbetween succeeded.

And then I could see that one of my music accordions on LAN used the same address as the WAN router and therefore moved the Squeezebox to another LAN address.

    WiFi works again.
