Wthout Shutdown WARNING

3 months ago PC of my wife (who works on Windows 7 Home Edition) has begun to close without warning.  This can happen while it was used, both during periods of inactivity.

FAQ in this forum suggested that a CPU overheating could be a common problem.  Our local PC repairman was very good and concluded that the CPU fan had failed and replaced it.

No, three months later the problem came back.  Our friendly repairman taken in yesterday all day and had run it without problem.  He suggested that could be a problem with the "lightning arrester" to which adapter PC, monitors (2) (2) printers are connected.  It is an adapter master/slave shop Clas Olsen and as well as a limiter of overvoltage for all the hardware, will also stop the material when the PC shuts down.

NB, the internet modem and server, telephone and other office equipment are on a separate surge protector - without the switching device.  They work without any problems, but when I plugged it temporarily the PC in this second adapter, it's the same thing.

Our friendly adviser suggests that PCs can be sensitive to overvoltage protection devices and suggested to connect the PC to an outlet completely separated from the rest.  After doing this, it PC has, until now, been left for 5 to 6 hours at a time, without incident.

As a surge protection device is important to protect the PC, etc., other PC users have no experience of this please?

Yours in hope

John

Hi John,.

The surge protector may be defective to cause lower than normal voltage to the outlet, that your computer is plugged. This would cause the supply voltages of your computer to be less than normal output to the motherboard.

It is conceivable that based on the design that it can also generate cobs on a sinusoidal output otherwise own.

If problems occur with the protector in use, and they are not when it is connected directly to the wall outlet, replace/change the detector for a new.

In your case, it seems that change the socket has resolved the problem. Let us know the status so that we can help you.

Hope this information helps.

  • Error and warning before and after the POST - Satellite M40X 129

    Hello

    I use a Satellite M40X-129, bought in 2005.
After you have reinstalled Windows and all the necessary drivers (after more than 3 years, which was the longest time I used a windows ;-)) installation this afternoon, I meet the following situation when starting):

(... check and all the stuff of ram...)
    Updated System Configuration data
    ERROR
    0271: check date and time
    WARNING
0251: System CMOS checksum bad - default configuration used
    Press to resume, installation

When I press F1 to resume, windows starts very well as I'm used to it.
I can also access the configuration and need to update the time setting.

    Two scenarios:
    (a) the startup, shutdown, reboot: error message happen
    (b) setting the time, out of the bios with save the configuration, boot, very well until the stop/restart is required

I tried to download the update of the bios to v1.60, but the configuration tool told me that this version is already in use and it will not progress.

What I wondered: why is it happening? I don't think that the battery power is low, which was suggested to others in other threads, because it happened just after I installed the chipset/utils and other drivers from the toshiba download page.

    What can I do?

-Bios update? -> Where can I find a new version? A tool (which I downloaded from a site linked to Phoenix Technologies) told me, there is an update for my Bios, but he wants me to join a subscription $29.99 / year

-Swap CMOS battery? -> how remove m40x-129, tutorials? Don't want no f * ck it upwards...

    any other advice?

    Thanks for your help.
    Best regards

    Hello

I think that the CMOS battery may be empty and therefore both a given in the BIOS is always changing the default value.

Usually, you should be able to recharge this battery CMOS very easily.
The user manual describes how to load this. Take a look at your manual

As I m not wrong not the laptop must be ON and running and must be connected to the mains for more than 20hours.
Then, the notebooks BIOS battery needs to be recharged again.

    Check it out!

    Good bye

  • M70 freezes when you connect the AC adapter / CC after warning of low battery

When I get the low battery warning, I connect to the AC adapter, but when I turn on the power, the laptop screen turns off. The domain controller in the LED lights up, the Power LED lights and the battery light but I can't use the keys on the keyboard, the laptop froze. Any ideas?

Try to go into sleep mode manually (start > shutdown > select standby). After that he goes to sleep, turn it back on. Do you have the same problem? You get the same problem if you are running on batteries, set up the computer to sleep manually and then put current alternative?

  • Satellite A205 - unexpected shutdown

    Hey foulks,.

At this computer for 1.5 years. Disassembled my s4607 A205, cleaned and Artic Silver on the chip in mind after that cleaning with denatured alchol. Problem persists, three days later.

Basic time are around 60 C. The machine seems to do unexpected stop at night. The next morning, hit power, get the screen option to boot normally and it rises and works very well.

Usually, the machine just closed unexpectedly, no warning, no shutdown process, just power. This has happened to my fingers only 4 times. All the other times it was overnight, probably more than 100 times. Also, when I go to the BIOS utility and pass dynamic low, NO PROBLEMS. Toshiba has a problem of design with this laptop. My A305 series doesn't have this problem.

I now run a second monitor turned off this machine to the extended format. Not sure if this could be a cause. I think maybe it is and the ACPI fan speed issue but not to say. Sometimes the fan goes to a mid level speed balance and works very well for long periods.

I am all of these ideas. I guess with this computer, I bought a DEFECTIVE of Toshiba PORTABLE computer.

    Mike

    Hello!

I'm pretty sure that you didn t bought a defective laptop with Toshiba because you worte that you already had this computer for 1.5 years.
And even if you bought a defective laptop, these things happen. Nobody's perfect and for problems around the laptop, you can contact an authorized service provider. They can repair the laptop to and under warranty it s free.

However, if I understand you just the problem starts after you have disassembled the laptop to clean. Is this fair?
If so you should check the laptop again. Maybe you did something wrong or you used enough/not enough thermal grease.
    Check this box!

If you can t help yourself, you must contact an authorized assistance service provider. Technicians can help you. ;)

  • HP Envy 5534: Improper shutdown, cartridge delivers, paper jams

I tried to print something, and I put the paper in (which was already very slightly bent) and you press on print. While it was printing, all of a sudden unusual noise you could hear then I pressed "Cancel" and the warning that "there is a paper jam it' came.

I lifted the door to cartridges that come after the door to scan and went out the paper, the paper had a few small holes in it and has been ruffled. Then I tried to print with another, less wrinkled paper and he said ' the following ink cartridges need to be replaced: HABs. I thought it was a mistake, so I tried to take the cartridge out and put back in. He also said that there was an obstruction or jam, he asked me to move the cartridges along the metal tube that they were on and moving back again in the animation. Place the cartridges were certainly in the clasp evenly in a good way, and the cartridges that I returned permanently to the extreme right were he went into a slot. There was a sticky white substance on the tube, so I cleaned it with tissue paper. I tried again, he says a 'transport' or something was unable to move. All the time the printer came with messages such as 'incompatible with the printer' among others.

I also looked into the mouthpiece with the pinching mechanism that reveals jams paper, to see if there was something that I had missed and he was not.

So, I tried to move the cartridges again, this time with the printer off, that he had instructed the animation (and I didn't realize to make), and when I turned on it even once, he warned ' improper shutdown. Press the button 'walk' to avoid damage ', so I did. Now I don't know what to do.

Please help, I know you massively! The printer is my source of life.

There has been no recent software or driver changes. My internet connection is wireless.

    Thank you very much.

The removal of lubrication is probably not a big deal, I wouldn't be able to replace at this stage.  Too much lubricant on the stem of transport can attract dust and paper fibres.  If at any time given the squeeks of transport when it moves from one side to the other, I suggest to post back here with a new topic and ask for advise.  Just a very small amount of lubricant, probably, it will be very good for the life of the printer.

Only one 1 antivirus should be installed & loading at startup. You had two installed for almost a year (i.e., IOBit & MSE and before that, IOBit and OneCare, judging by your last response).

But it's not really important because you did not have any antivirus application installed by your own admission, at least 4 months: your computer is infected and has been for some time. See...

  • m8013w overheating - stop - no warning

I've been struggling with this for months.

Randomly, the machine is just off.

I'll be reading email... or reading a web page.  The system shuts down without warning.

The only indication I seem to hear is that the indoor fan is starts faster than usual... takes about 5 minutes... and then POOF!  System shutdown.

I was told that it is probably an overheating problem.

This is common with this model?

I have had it for over 4 years now... and he started to do the last 6 months.

I opened the case to see if there is dust or dirt anywhere, but it's clean.  I took the air compressed and blew the heat-sync block just in case... but nothing seems to help.

Voluntarily, I tried to use HPs tools and testing program.  (Where you can select the tests to run material.)  I ran all the basic tests that will work perfectly... BUT - when I run CPU stress test... about 30% by running - WOW!  Shut down the system again.

It all looks like a heating problem.

    What can I do?

I bought a PCI fan and plugged that... but it doesn't seem to help any.  The part of the box does not seem to run hot... It takes just the chip.  I was told to try to re-application of thermal paste.  So I did... and it stops again.  Is there something better?  They are all born equal?  I used the COOLER MASTER ceramic Polysynthetic - gravity 2.37 composed.  If I had another CPU fan, one who turns harder... would only work/aid?

    Is my computer CPU shot?

    HELLLLLLP!

    Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

    Thanks Dave,.

I ran the two separately, and both gave completely different results.  I don't know who to believe!

At least the problem seems to be solved if.  New synchronization of heat & fan does wonders...

The old hardware ran the hot fan speed and boosted significantly under load - which hardly cooled the chip a lot.

This new Hyper TX3 of CoolMaster is GREAT!  A bit big for the space, I had to reverse one of the fans and press the cables pretty tight, but not it's barely more than 42 c at full load.  Much better than the other installation.

If everyone followed this thread - best solution: replace the first CPU fan, or try a heatsync/fan combo.  This is done, the system works like a charm again!

Appreciate all your efforts and Dave escape.  You showed me some new great tools too!

    See you soon!

The cause is the driver MRVW24C.sys:

    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\MRVW24C.sys
    Image name: MRVW24C.sys
    Timestamp: Thu Jan 19 11:03 2007

This driver is too old and not Windows 7 compatible. Because there is no new driver unit (revA1 D-link wireless adapter DWA-130), change the energy saving features and disable them, so that the appliance is still running. This should fix it. If not, buy a Windos 7 compatible wireless adapter.

    Best regards
    André
