wuaudt.exe is really bogged down my computer

Recently, when I start my computer for the day first, wuaudt.exe runs and really missed in my computer.  In the Task Manager, it shows that he uses a lot of memory with one of the many ongoing svchost.exe to run.  I got my computer set up to notify me when updates are available.  I studied this problem and found the only thing to do is to completely disable automatic updates.  I have disabled the automatic updates, disabled the automatic updates on the Services tab in msconfig and in services.msc I set automatic updates to the manual.  This seems to hold wuaudt.exe to run.  I read in one place that Microsoft publishes updates on the first and third Tuesday every month so I intend to make manual updates in these moments.  Does anyone know why wuaudt.exe is suddenly such a Devourer of memory? It seems to be a problem the first time time I turn on my computer (I turn off when not in use to save electricity).  If I turn it off and restart it later in the day, there is not a performance issue.  I have a Dell Dimension 5100C, Windows XP Pro SP3, 512 MB RAM, Pentium 4 3.00 Ghz processor.

I would like to be able to be informed of the critical updates when they are issued, but I don't want to not wuaudt.exe runs every day if it's going to bog down me.  Any ideas?

Update: mainly Due to exchanges with many MS MVPS on behalf of users like you, Microsoft knows and recognizes the problem:

"We have got reports from multiple sources and believes that it is a matter of on-line service and we're investigating it as a priority of 1."

I did go to the task manager of windows, processes, sort them alphabetically by the description column, you can list by going to display and select column, and then down to the substitution of com and do a right-click and choose end process... you may need to do more than once... This will remove at least for awhile... it is mainly used to display thumbnail pictures in my photo folder... you can the delete permanently, but then you would not have miniature photos...

Hello, I recently went on vacation last week and a half before hand, I shut down my computer, so there are no memory leaks for my era [6 days].  I came home and turned on the computer which ran fine for awhile.  But then my computer started to act, because every once and a while, but this lasted since I got home.  Norton is my anti-virus and continues to tell me that "svchost.exe" using a lot of memory.  I must have at least 15 + svchost.exe process open for what reason so ever.  3 of which are in high use [one to 70,000] and the second at 20,000 and the other 10,000.  The first two [70 000 and 20,000] are both in the category of user name of the 'system' and the third one [10 000] is in the category of user name "Local Service".  I need help to solve this.

I was wondering if it could be a virus/Trojan horse that has affected the svchost.exe program?

  • Color transparency strobe is bogged down my computer CPU

    Good afternoon

Recently, I have programmed an interactive floor plan that generates a transparent flashing color on top a png file imported. The flashing light is beautiful and exactly what I need, but I encountered some problems. I've referenced the thread 'color and transparent boolean' to help me with this program.

When I run the program of the CPU on my computer goes up to about 97 percent. After messing around with the calendar of the loop and some of these color gradient options, I can get up to about 40-50% CPU usage, but the end result looks almost as good as before. Also, I intend to have several rooms simultaneously flashing in the future, and only an indicator of the single room is causing this problem.

It is my goal to have the program running while using no more than 15-20% CPU. Is this possible?

Someone has suggestions to help the program to run without hogging all the CPU?

I'll post my program because I know this is helpful

(Also, if anyone has any suggestions to get the flashing rect and the graphics of the circle on the same plan of the fair, which would be much appreciated)

    Thank you very much

  • Make the desktop gadgets really slow down your computer? __

I have several on my desk, varies it just on your computers memory, speed etc? In the Task Manager it shows like sidebar.exe runninng 49 112 memory, is that a lot? For example, it is the same use as my browser.

If you have enough current execution, it could possibly affect performance, but all depends on how many resources use gadgets.  If you have an old PC with not much RAM, which would also increase the possibility.

  • Wuauclt.exe slow down my computer

Whenever the Windows Update automatic update Client runs, it significantly slows down my computer.  For this reason, I put automatic updates updated Fridays @ 03:00, so that I'm not on my computer and it should not cause me any hassle during the working day.  However, this is not the case.  It's a Tuesday afternoon and I have wuauclt.exe now works and has downloaded the updates and continues to ask me to install the updates.  It is difficult to run the programs I need for running the job with that.  I've closed several times by the Task Manager: processes tab and it will not be closed.

How to stop popping up and running ONLY at 03:00 on Friday?

Sorry for not responding earlier but I never received a notification of any more responses about this until today .

My preference would be to make manual updates on the site, so I won't warn me, warn me or come at all.

As Mike has already said, if your on a domain network, you must ask the Admin on how the system is updated.
If it isn't and you are the person who updates it, then you have to turn off the automatic updates service and set THE " disable automatic updates. I want to update my computer manually. "

When you are ready to update, and this includes to restart the system so that files that are used can be replaced, and then start the automatic updates service before either visiting web sites Windows or Microsoft Update.
Security updates are issued the second Tuesday of each month; No updates for Windows security are issued the 4th Tuesday of each month.

However, this will prevent the installation of any out of band, critical security updates unless you watch ( the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC), search for the Microsoft TechNet security bulletins or the pages of Description of Software Update Services and Windows Server Update Services changes in content for 2010 .

I put the svchost.exe side warning to do something on my computer because if I click on it it will stop me... I tried many things and nothing is working any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

    Disable Norton.
Download Microsoft Safety Scanner to scan your computer infections by the virus.
This is a free security tool, you can perform. It works with your existing antivirus.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-in/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is not a replacement for the use of antivirus software that offers continuous protection.

Once it has run, you have to re - activate Norton. If the Microsoft safety scanner does not remove the virus, I suggest that you contact Norton support because it does not find the virus, he just can not remove it.

    I hope this helps.

  • Every day bogged down: how to purge my Clipboard without closing illustrator?

I really need Illustrator to be consistently fast throughout the day.  The program quickly GET bogged down in less than an hour and starts to slow down. I guess it's because my Clipboard. I produce about 15 to 20 projects a day and sometimes open several libraries with 5-10 work plans. My solution is to have a daily timer to remind me to close the program and restart every hour. I also only keep vector images in my library. No imagery. I do not allow pixelation effects to apply to one of my libraries as they slow things way down. I have at least 5-7 other tactics to keep illustrator functioning. Even if I only have a single file open at the time, the Clipboard gets full quickly. I also treat my Macbook Pro as a motor. I do not keep all the files on the computer and use the libraries of files based cloud and external hard drives for 100% of all my files. I have a high-end graphics card that allows me to have 10 programs open at the same time, if I need to.  I never do well.

Illustrator is the only program that slows down after continuous use. This is my number one for my business program. I lose regularly one hour a day with my need to clear the Clipboard, close the program and restart the program several times a day.

No alternative workaround you can think? I'm debating buying another computer and tie them together and I have two programs illustrator open. Really want to spend the extra money.

do you need a little more RAM?

I understand that its all good at the beginning of a session, but perhaps she is responsible in all the tools and functions, you must use, it gets to the point were in fact you don't have enough ram to run along?

I thought cloud and libraries external is not helping, especially if you have the automatic backup / recovery tries to access the network files all the time.

you might do better to keep the files you are workign on a local drive?

I know laptop HARD drive are pretty slow (stock), except if you have PCIE or SSD equipped?

If you HDD, I would spend a quid on a SSD outside of all other settings that make you the computer work for your situation, the only upgrade makes a huge difference for almost everything. you get up an even greater still from there hump to a PCIE drive.

I currently have 2 copies of the Illustrator running at the same time, 19.1.0 and 19.2.1 just because they alternate between being totally useless and crashing waaaay too (GPU question google says), but it allows me to continue to work faster that one version bails out...

you might find an alternative version that works better, as I found that 19.1.0 is much more stable and perhaps another version wont drain resources such as your current version?

obviously be better for it to work, but maybe something to blunt pain, using an alternative version until you work out whats going on?

If your antivirus software is nothing else than the windows Defender - you might want to experiment & uninstall it.

Visit the support site anti virus and find their methods of uninstalling...  Many antivirus programs really need a separate download program to uninstall them successfully.   When you see that windows Defender is working properly, it's a good indication that you probably have a successful uninstallation.
