x201s of fingerprint software & driver

Just got ten X201s thinkpads, that we are in the process of upgrading to Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit.  Have been able to find the drivers for everything except for the fingerprint driver and software.  Tried to use than the x200s version but it didn't work.  Does anyone know where it is?  We are in the process of making a large deployment which will result in about 50 x201s, but without the drivers fingerprints, we may have to change our plans.  Thank you.

Just an update for anyone who might have the same problem with the upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit Windows 7.  Lenova support says the only way you can get the drivers of fingerprints and the software is buying the $ 45 Windows 7 64-bit recovery disc.  It is not available for download. So, if you want to upgrade your 32-bit Windows 7 to 64 - bit x201s and you want the optional fingerprint reader, so it is necessary to spend the $45, send the phone back and get the 64 bit version or just buy something else. .

Hi kjs270 and welcome to the Lenovo user community!

I'm not sure what Lenovo support thought you were asking, but the X 201 family Windows 7 fingerprint drivers are available for download here:

  • Portege Z30: Fingerprint software no longer work after Win 7 32-bit downgrade

Hi, I need a little more help with my Z30.

Have just downgraded to Win 7 Pro 64 Bit to Win Pro 32 Bit.

Everything seems to work except for the utility of fingerprinting.

My laptop has biometric device of validity and it shows up as working in the Device Manager.

I have install then it appropriate Toshiba Fingerprint Software listed as fp - sw - 20140811102806.zip.
The installation seems to go smoothly.

However, if I run the software I get an icon on the taskbar, but nothing else. By clicking on this icon (or going back to the program via the start menu) and no registration window opens. Basically, nothing happens.

If I try and close the window in the bar of tasks, nothing happens. I have to use ctrl-alt-delete to close the icon and stop the running program.

I ve started to change the settings and made sure that the biometric device is enabled and checked the box to allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints.

I ve uninstalled Validity Sensor and allowed to reinstall.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Toshiba Fingerprint Software. No luck.

I think that I m doing something pretty obvious, but need some help on this.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

  • Fingerprint software, Windows 7, and single logon feature

I have a T400s, when I had my machine Win7 rc was installed on it, it was somehow the installer so that when the machine is down, I could slip my finger, and the machine should start up and connect directly to my account. The fingerprint reader appear to be active even when the machine has been turned off.

I did a bios reset data footprint so that I could do a clean install for Win7 (released version).  But now the fingerprint reader doesn't seem to be active until I press the power button.  Anyone know if it is possible to restore the previous behavior?

It seems strange that the fingerprint reader was active before turning the power on, but it was so convenient.

Make sure you have the drivers for Lenovo UPEK (beta) / utility installed. Go to the ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software utility, under settings, make sure that 'Digital footprint use the power button instead of' is checked. If you don't have such an option, try to uninstall and reinstall the driver "TouchChip Fingerprint coprocessor".

  • What fingerprint software... Lenovo and ThinkVantage?

It seems that you have two versions of the fingerprint software.

On your download site, you have...

    Lenovo Fingerprint Software 3.2.0.116 - dated August 11, 2008.

    and...

    ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software 5.8.2.4462.

Does it matter which of these versions that I use for W700 with Vista Ultimate 64?

    Solved...

Software fingerprinting Lenovo is Authentec drive.  Which is what I have on my W700.

    ThinkVantage is Upek drive.

  • TrueSuite Fingerprint Software me lock out of my files!

    Help!

I use the TrueSuite Access Manager very happy five months for some of my files important protect from prying eyes. Suddenly, today, when I try to "unprotect" them, I get a message saying "Invalid"File Protection Key"". The fingerprint reader works fine and TrueSuite Access Manager accepts my footprint quite happy.

I am using Windows XP Pro. The only things that have happened since I last accessed files successfully was a download Microsoft Tuesday last week and my Norton Internet Security 2008 installation.

I really hope you guys can help ' cos I need to access these files.

    Steve

PS, I tried to restore to a previous system restore point, but they all fail...

Well, here is where I have to this day...

The TrueSuite Access Manager is provided by AuthenTec, but is actually just a rebadged version of the Password of ABIG software. The site Web of TrueSuite disappeared off the internet (although you can find one or two references to the fact that there were once). AuthenTec or ABIG offer any support whatsoever. So the only source of help is Toshiba...

I traced the beginning of my woes to an application error logged in the log of the events of Win XP - fingerprint software didn't. The description of the error says only: "prints notifier Application digital Suite has encountered a problem and needs to close." Large. The application error has somehow broken the link between fingerprints recorded and the key used to 'protect' all my files. Even having a back-up fingerprints was useless, because that was the link between the fingerprint identification system and the file system of Windows that was broken, not fingerprint information...

I rang the Toshiba help line, who recommended to download and install the latest drivers. What I've done. It made no difference.

I managed to roll back to Windows to a date earlier than the application error (the problem I had before which prevented me to restore the system to an earlier date was caused by Norton internet Security, a "known" feature). But even once it made no difference.

So where am I today? TrueSuite has lost the connection between my fingerprints and the key that he used with the file system Windows to protect my files, I was in turn locked out of all files. I can't access, copy, move them or delete them, BACK or Win XP. Toshiba recommendation is to use the provided with the laptop recovery disks and to reinstall Windows XP from scratch. Of course this will not return me my information, but at least it will remove all unnecessary files and free up the space occupied by them!

Lessons to be learned - if you use TrueSuite to protect your files, think twice. If you want to continue to do so, back up all your files before protecting them. Of course, the backup version of the file will not be protected fingerprint (bat rather the object of the exercise, is not...)

    Good luck.
