XP hangs after "loading your personal settings...". ». Boots fine after turning power off and turn on again.

This has happened since the installation of ThreatFire.  Freezes when you 1st start of the day, with success during the 2nd test.

Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and start safe mode.  Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan mode without failure.  To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode.  Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem.  To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore.  Click on the box that says show more restore points.
-
You can check the corrupted system files.  Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE, then click on run as administrator. Then from the command prompt, type sfc/scannow.
-
Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log.  To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools.  Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

I hope this helps.  Good luck.

    Hello

Disconnect all external devices from the computer and try to restart the computer and check what is happening.

    Step 1:

Try to boot to the desktop in safe mode and check what is happening. Only basic files and drivers needed to run Windows are started. If a problem doesn't reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic as possible cause device drivers. To start in safe mode follow the link.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

    Step 2:

If you are able to boot to the desktop in Mode safe, it means that the third-party application prevents the computer from starting in normal mode. To check you can configure the computer to clean start State and then try to boot into normal mode and check what is happening. To set up its own start-up follow the link below.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If the problem does not continues when the computer is in the clean start State follow the steps listed to identify which application is causing the problem.

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Windows XP, the application of the computer settings and the application of your personal settings is very slow

A XP computer over a network, recently and only recently started having problems when starting.  It is very slow.

When 'apply the settings of the computer' and when "applying your personal settings" is very slow.

It is only a very recent change.

A malware scan found no no problem.

    Are there any suggestions?

You won't if you follow the above canned answer.

Is that a computer joined to the domain?  If so, the slowness comes from the network, DNS, domain controllers, or group policy.

  • No network after a power failure and only works in safe mode with network. Operating system is Vista SP2.

The latest patch to update this system was .net framework 4

This behavior has occurred on several machines after a power failure in our factory caused all systems restart.

    I have run chkdsk

    I ran sfc

    SafeMode internet works fine.

Clean boot does not solve the problem.

Cannot remove .net framework 4 because I can't get windows installation service to work properly.

X red on the connection in normal mode

I run with the reset.cmd file subinacl to reset all the registry settings. It gave no results.

I looked at all of the services that are running successfully in normal mode and those that are run in mode safe and that services to start. This got me internet again in normal mode, but we are far from finished there are a lot of services is still needed. I'll make one by an approach to see what will begin and what doesn't.

System Restore was successful, but had no bearing on the issue. Here's the solution that worked.

    Safe Mode boot

on computers that are running Windows live onecar I ran as administrator onecare removal tool

Remove the Adobe Flash 10 utility

    Open msconfig and services.msc

enable all services that are running in safe mode to run msconfig on the next reboot. Also enable required services for Windows updates and windows install

    Enable

BITS, com +, Windows udpate, workstation and service server and all dependent services. If you miss some that is good because you and individual services and start them from services.msc when the next restart.

    Restart the machine.

I found that after this reboot a few updates have been posted in the update list installed in the control panel that had not been previously listed.

Remove all instances of Java (cannot be done in safe mode)

Reinstall Java and flash player from their respective Web sites

I installed Microsoft Security Essentials www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

Run windows update and install the updates.

run msconfig and select normal startup

    Restart and ensure normal operation.

It takes about 1/2 hour, 1 hour per machine which was much lower than a full reinstall.

  • Strike F1 key to continue after replacing power supply and pulling the battery system on Poweredge R410

    Hi all

Recently, I replaced a non redundant power supply on my Dell Poweredge R410. During troubleshooting, I also temporarily removed the battery from the system at any given time.

The server is back up and running, but when booting, I get:

"The 4 fan speed can change in installation configuration feature and the option card systems

Press F1 to continue, F2 to run the configuration utility.

I think that some BIOS setting reset to remove the battery? I also see a lot of forum posts mentioning the cause of this error is the integrated SATA is connected to anything.

My hard drives are connected to a PERC via the PCI slot, and the machine has an optical drive. I don't see the existence of the optical drive in omreport.

Here are a few outlets omreport about SATA settings.

    Integrated SATA controller: ATA
    SATA port 0: Auto
    SATA port 1: Off
    SATA port 2: stop
    SATA port 3: Off
    SATA port 4: Off

Any advice on how to go about this debugging more?

    Thank you!

Yes, it is possible that the optical drive is defective. Check the logs of equipment. Also enter the system BIOS setup using the F2 key and search for devices listed as unknown.

  • HP Photosmart premium c310, Windows 7 (64 bit) series will not work afterit is turned off and then on again

I have photosmart all-in-one c310 printer and whenever we have a power outage, the printer will not print at startup power upward. I have spend hours trying to download drivers or updates and check the printer that says it's fine and the computer that says it can't find the driver. The last 2 times I finally got running again, but I did something different every time and I don't remember what it was. I just spent 2 hours on a hamster wheel keeps back me for a download, after you download it twice, I finally understood was the SAME download (the 3rd time I was directed here) and the printer STILL does not work. I'm pulling my hair out and I'm about to throw this worthless piece of scrap metal by the window. Help!

Are you connected wireless? If so, you will need to reconnect the printer to the network of the SCW wireless on the printer itself. When you have power, he can hit just the printer off of the network from the router and just reconnect.

  • Loading staff/profile settings

Hi, I use Windows Vista Home Premium and whenever I turn on my Sony Vaio desktop computer, it fails to load my personal settings and profile - that is, I can still use my computer, but I can't see or access my documents and when I open Internet Explorer, all my favorites have disappeared. I tried restarting the computer as stopping completely & turning turn it back on. But still does not work.

Does anyone have advice as to how I can get my personal profile/settings to load?

    Hello

It gives you a temporary profile? If you have ADMINISTRATOR access, you should be able to find your old
files under the account name C:\Users\Old, where C: is the drive where the users are on.

Some programs such as the Google Updater (if you added the toolbar Google, Chrome or Google Earth) has been
    known to cause this problem.

  • your blocking settings

How can I lock you your setting so that when an update going in your personal settings do not change?

    Hello Paul,

    Thank you for your response.

    1. What setting in updates of windows you want to change?
    2. What is the exact isuse are you facing after installing updates?

You can change how Windows installs or notifies you of updates. If you don't want no updates to be installed automatically, you can choose to be notified when updates apply to your computer instead. Then, you can download and install manually, or you can set Windows to automatically download updates and then inform you if you can install them yourself.

Please see the article below to change your Windows Update settings.
