XP NOT work gateway recovery disk!

I'm trying to reformat (I Win 7 RC and it is about to expire) with my Gateway System Recovery XP Media Center drive, and it does nothing. When I start and press 'R', it goes directly to the connection of Windows 7! I do not understand this... I used this drive on Gateway computers not a few months ago and it worked... but I can not with the computer, it was intended? WTF. When you look in my disk drive folder, it shows all the content on the disc, so the disk has to work. I have to start again and then reinstall Vista on, since it is a disk of Vista UPGRADE I have to start with XP, that is so crazy. Anyone know why the installation of recovery is not coming and can I reformat the drive in a different way? Thank you.

You do not need to install winxp in order to use the upgrade to Vista, you simply boot from the Vista disc, start the clean install and insert the Windows XP disc when it complains.
I don't know if it works with your recovery disk, however.

Boot from your recovery disk would normally you have the opportunity to recover, how and which key press to perform a destructive recovery depends on the recovery disk creator (gateway)

I have a problem with that. The only other operating system, I have Windows XP and the pavilion a6432f supports Windows Vista, so there is no drivers for some of the critical components of the system.

Y at - there someone who can help me with this problem. I have not either the option of performing from the hard drive. The previous hard drive has failed and been replaced since the mfg'r. That's why I'm using the recovery cd

It is usually a problem with the BIOS that is causing the problem.  Recovery checks the BIOS to determine the model and other info before it will install to prevent recovery used on discs machine no HP or on the wrong model of HP machine.

It usually takes HP service to insert the correct information in the BIOS.

Have you ever used before recovery disks?

Any material changes other than the new HDD machine?

Windows 7 would be a nice update to the machine. Win 7 has an abundance of builtin driver support, and if necessary most Vista drivers work in Windows 7.

Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

Original title: recovery Partition not here and not backed up copy of Win8

I have an 18 month, Acer Aspire V5-571pg now out of warranty.  For the last 3 days, of what it has been in a loop bringing repair until this morning disc error messages, it just says "operating system not found '.  A call to Acer support and we have tried to activate the recovery Partition using Alt - F10 but it seems that the partition is not there either, and of course I did not create a recovery disk when I got the laptop.  I was not eager to send the Acer laptop for service after the warranty expires, I thought I should at least attempt of recovery or re - install.  Windows 8 is a preinstalled OEM version.  Where should I start?  Y at - he's going to be a download that I can use and what I need to know a product key to install?  Should I get Acer to send me a recovery disk?  Not super PC here but am knowledge letter wins all the time.  I hope someone understands my situation.  Thank you

You can order the recovery media using your SNID, from the link below. I have an ACER desktop computer, and it cost me less than US$ 20.00, to order an additional series.

  • Re: Satellite A300-234 - product key does not work with another disk the

Broke the new Satellite A300-234, flied Windows Vista. I did not the backup copy of the system. At the system from a disk of another laptop Toshiba A200-23d.

The key away. What should do?

    Hello

The point is that the product key from the underside of the laptop can t be used with another drive in Windows. It s just for the preinstalled OEM version and doesn t work with other versions.

Normally you n t have to enter a product key if you are using the Toshiba recovery disc because it contains a picture of the factory settings and is different from a disc of Microsoft Vista.

Anyway, as said Akuma you can order a new drive Toshiba Recovery directly.
The another model of laptop recovery disk will not work because the hardware is different.

    Good bye

  • Pavilion 20 all in one pc: my HP Pavilion windows desktop 20 8 does not have the recovery disk

I bought this recovery disk awhile back and it never worked to find the computer. You can here the disc is spinning inside but nothing apears on the screen. I did a hard drive test and everything came back by the way. I tried to enter my UEFI firmware settings to reset the BIOS, but I click on the option each time it gives me just a blue screen with the 0xc000000f erorr code so I can't even their.

So it seems that the recovery partition is corrupt and the recovery disc you, where ever you got was defective or not bootable data.

You will need to order HP recovery discs, if they are available.

Acer said that we have what you want... but then cannot make a website to get my money back...  It's simple stuff... I have a gateway GZ7112. Its Vista Home premium. Web site says available on the Gateway and eMachines PCs. Websites said, one type of media to eRecovery is available per unit this is the first time that I need one, and, and Vista is always legitimate to Ms... Come on guys... do you want my money or not?   Laughing out loud

    Hi livesabbath,

Unfortunately, we are only able to provide recovery media for a certain period of time as such. In this case, I confirmed that we don't have loads of software units originally shipped with Windows Vista.

You can look into the purchase of a copy of the retail sales of Windows or watch in the variants of linux. Of course, linux has a curve much higher education, if you have not used before.

I tried to download driver Toshiba but it seems that there are no downloads for Windows vista for your specific model.

Check the Device Manager for the entries in the card reader under "ATA/ATAPI IDE controllers" and "SD adapters.

Double-click on the devices to see their properties. On the general tab, note their descriptions and 'device status'.  In the Details under "Ownership" tab select "hardware ID" note the entries under "value".

You can try to install the drivers built into Windows Vista

    1. in the Device Manager, click on your PC
    2. click on the menu "Action" "Add legacy hardware. Click next in the Add Hardware Wizard.
    3. check the box before "install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)". Click Next.
    4. under "Types of common hardware", select "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers '. Click Next.
    5. under "Manufacturer", select "Ricoh company.
    6. in the title of 'Model' select your description of the appliance as shown in Device Manager.
    7. the full wizard.

There are several Ricoh xD-Picture Card controller, you can try them all and see one that works.

    Can someone help me please?

Can you think of anything else I should do to prepare in case something goes wrong with the computer.  I have the recovery CD I created them when I got the laptop.

Can of course! Those of us who prefer do not re-install Windows from scratch in case something does not take the following measures:

    1. Burn a CD to repair Windows via Control Panel / backup and restore.
    2. Connect an external hard drive in a USB enclosure.
    3. Create an image of the drive system via the control panel / backup and restore. Store it on the external drive.
    4. Use the repair Windows CD to start the machine in Repair Mode.
    5. Check if the image in step 3.
    6. Update the image to twice a year.
    7. Use the USB drive to your regular backups.
    8. Keep the USB drive, far away from your PC for most of the time.
  • Does not start a recovery disk

Pavilion a1650y WMCE - overwhelmed by W32/virut.  Regular and partition recovery is compromised.  All parts are original.  I ordered the HP recovery disks, but I'm unable to actually running recovery.  The computer does not start with the 1 disc in the DVD player.  Drive light flashes, but I just get a black screen, that expires after one minute with the message "Reboot and select a suitable boot device or insert boot media and press a key.

I can boot to a classic XP disk in the drive, so I know that the drive is ok.  I can boot from disc 1 of recovery on another computer (it of a Dell and correctly points out that the discs are not intended for this computer) so I know that the drive is ok.  Hmmm.

I have reset the BIOS, but that has no effect.

My first thought was that the mother had been replaced at some point given and tattooed not correctly.  However, I ran a DMI utility to read the specs - and everything exactly matches the tile of the factory.  Product serial number, the nomenclature of HW, RIN, no., type of motherboard, everything.

I swapped in another hard drive, but the problem persists.  So the problem must be with the motherboard, but I don't know what to try next.  Can I do short of replacing the motherboard (or the purchase of an operating system)?  Just 3 1/2 years, I hope that I don't have a new doorstop...

    Thank you!

    HT

Have you tried to boot with the drive disconnected to see if it boots to the BIOS screen? It is a step of troubleshooting isolation. A Linux live disk will start under Linux? If this does not work, consider trying another drive of CD/DVD on your PC before looking at the motherboard as the flaw in the system.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite C50-A-157 Sandisk USB does not work in Recovery Media Centre

I can't get Sandisk Cruzer USB to work in recovering from the media library. Have tried formatting but no luck.

I read on another forum of Toshiba that Sandisk USB keys do not work and you need to use another brand.

    Anyone know if it's true?

    Thank you

To be honest, I don't think that any USB Sandisk flash memory sticks don't work with Recovery Media Creator. But of course because of a problem of compatibility between the device and the software, it is possible that a USB flash memory stick would not be recognized.

I have never known such problems with my Recovery Media Creator software.
I could create a recovery media using two different USB sticks from two different manufacturers. One of them was a SanDisk flash memory stick.

  • Satellite L350-212 - does not start a recovery disk

Got this L350-212 running Vista Basic.

It loads up to the home screen Toshiba prompting f2 for Setup etc. but does not recognize f2 or f8 or f12 at startup recovery disk. Goes to a black screen with stable cursor in the upper left corner (_) does not blink. Waited a while to see if it was just really slow but nothing.

Don't know what to do... any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Hey Buddy,

Have you checked if the CD/DVD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS? Maybe that s not the case so it boot recovery disc doesn t.

If you have another bootable disk, check another. Perhaps the recovery disk is scratched and t can be read.

  • Satellite A60: keyboard does not work, the recovery DVDs cannot run

    Someone has an idea?

Thanks a lot for your answer.

They keyboard might not be the problem, or it may not be connected properly to the motherboard the best thing to do is to take it to a service center, it should not cost you anything, if it is still under warranty... but if it's just the keyboard and your laptop is out of warranty then it should cost more than 100-200... can't say how much exactly, because I have no idea.
