Does not start a recovery disk

Pavilion a1650y WMCE - overwhelmed by W32/virut.  Regular and partition recovery is compromised.  All parts are original.  I ordered the HP recovery disks, but I'm unable to actually running recovery.  The computer does not start with the 1 disc in the DVD player.  Drive light flashes, but I just get a black screen, that expires after one minute with the message "Reboot and select a suitable boot device or insert boot media and press a key.

I can boot to a classic XP disk in the drive, so I know that the drive is ok.  I can boot from disc 1 of recovery on another computer (it of a Dell and correctly points out that the discs are not intended for this computer) so I know that the drive is ok.  Hmmm.

I have reset the BIOS, but that has no effect.

My first thought was that the mother had been replaced at some point given and tattooed not correctly.  However, I ran a DMI utility to read the specs - and everything exactly matches the tile of the factory.  Product serial number, the nomenclature of HW, RIN, no., type of motherboard, everything.

I swapped in another hard drive, but the problem persists.  So the problem must be with the motherboard, but I don't know what to try next.  Can I do short of replacing the motherboard (or the purchase of an operating system)?  Just 3 1/2 years, I hope that I don't have a new doorstop...

Thank you!

HT

Have you tried to boot with the drive disconnected to see if it boots to the BIOS screen? It is a step of troubleshooting isolation. A Linux live disk will start under Linux? If this does not work, consider trying another drive of CD/DVD on your PC before looking at the motherboard as the flaw in the system.

Kind regards

Eric

    Hey Buddy,

Have you checked if the CD/DVD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS? Maybe that s not the case so it boot recovery disc doesn t.

If you have another bootable disk, check another. Perhaps the recovery disk is scratched and t can be read.

  • Satellite A100: Does not start a recovery DVDs

    Hi guys.
    First timer here.
I have read some of the Q & A on reboot problems the A100 since the recovery DVDs.
It seems I have the same problems as keith.

I want to start all over again the OS and my laptop does not start from the DVD.
Tried the standard f12 boot from cd option. tried her "hold C on the boot option.
Both options end with no joy.

The screen that says "loading ramdisk image", loads the machine breaks, asks me to wait, then every time the same thing.
The screen goes black, flashes very quickly and white and then loads from the hard disk as normal.

Now try to hold my frustration and do something radical.
I know that in the Q & A previous, the subject is considered as replied...
    other options?

My following thoughts are to delete/uninstall almost every thing and try and force the thing to boot from the DVD.
have also copied the dvd and tried to boot from the copy, always with no joy.

    Are there any other suggestions?

Is it possible to put a partition in the existing drive and start the recovery dvd in there, then delete the junk of the original section of the drive, and then delete the partition?

is it possible to close all essential processes and format the HARD drive?

is it possible to reset the HARD drive somehow?

    see you soon,
    Martin

    Hello Martin

To be honest, it's pretty strange question. There is one thing I am interesting for:
Is - this first time, you try to use a recovery media for the installation of the OS?

If possible, try to get the Microsoft CD/DVD facilities to see if the same thing will happen.

In any case, I will try to give you answers to your questions.
    > Is it possible to put a partition in the existing drive and to start the recovery dvd in there, then delete the junk of the original section of the drive, and then delete the partition?
It will not work. On the recovery of the media it is recovery image and this image must be installed correctly. You cannot "recover DVD in there. Not question

    > is it possible to close all essential processes and format the HARD drive?
I would like to know what you understand under the 'essential processes?

    > Is it possible to reset the HARD drive somehow?
You can't do this somehow. If you want to 'reset' HARD drive, you must delete the existing partition or delete any OS installation. After having done that, you need to install new OS. All this will be done at the beginning of the recovery procedure.

I really don't understand what's wrong there. Please answer to my first question, and we will continue this discussion. ;)

  • System does not come with recovery disk

    Hi all

I bought the HP CMT 8300 (preload win 8) system but it does not come with recovery cd. What I have to buy eventually or should belong to the system as free?

Thanks a lot for any advice.

    All the best

    Hello

No, the machines now come without recovery media, you can create a game by yourself:

There is also a recovery on your computer partition, please keep intact, as you may need it someday.

  • Computer HP laptop, does not accept the recovery disks and don't accpet Windows Vista upgrade (HomeP to ultimate).

Apparently the upgrade does not recognize that Windows is on the drive, but cannot restore the original software as HP blocked their recovery disk. The recovery partition is there, but he cannot get starter.  The recovery disks have the original spirit operating system Windows - how can I get the upgrade to recognize?

    Hello

an upgrade must be done from vista, NOT operating system by booting from the disk to upgrade

as you have problems using the maunfacturers recovery process, upgrade disc etc., read what you may have hardware problems.

If you have problems with the process of recovery of manufacturers, contact the manufacturer

It's their recovery process not microsofts

  • Does not start in recovery mode or normally.

I know that I need a windows recovery disk, I went to the microsoft website. He said I need to contact HP, they said go here. I typed in my product, and he refused to help me if I'm here.

When I boot into recovery, it just goes to a blue screen with a cursor, nothing else. When I try to boot normally it loads forever and nothing happens.

  • Pavilion 20 all in one pc: my HP Pavilion windows desktop 20 8 does not have the recovery disk

I bought this recovery disk awhile back and it never worked to find the computer. You can here the disc is spinning inside but nothing apears on the screen. I did a hard drive test and everything came back by the way. I tried to enter my UEFI firmware settings to reset the BIOS, but I click on the option each time it gives me just a blue screen with the 0xc000000f erorr code so I can't even their.

So it seems that the recovery partition is corrupt and the recovery disc you, where ever you got was defective or not bootable data.

You will need to order HP recovery discs, if they are available.

Alternatively, you can download and create an ISO of 8.1 to Windows Installer.  But there is no HP software however.

  • Equium A200-1V0 does not start after recovery

    Hi all

    I have Toshiba Equium A200-1V0.

I wanted to restore Vista back to the factory settings and used the recovery disc - everything seems to go well, selected 'no' on the disc Add on to the end, as I don't seem to have one. When you restart the laptop, it goes beyond the post screen, then darkness... nothing happens at all.

Now, I thought that maybe there was a hardware problem, so I tested it using a copy of Windows XP I - installs fine, no problem. I noticed that the recovery partition "Winre" was 1.5 GB in size and 1.37 GB free. I guess that's complete, it contains a file called "boot.sdi" and the folder called 'sources' in the 'sources' folder there is a file called "boot.wim" and that's, I don't know if this is right.

Whatever it is, I can't get the thing to work with the recovery disk (Vista Home Premium) and there seems to be no hardware issues that XP is fine.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Danny

Try to remove all partitions on the HARD disk and re-run recovery.

You can use FDISK on a BACK (www.bootdisk.com) boot disk to delete partitions non-dos.

    Hello

For me the description sounds like the laptop can not find an OS on the HARD disk bootable.
The laptop trying to boot from the HARD drive and Windows has not been installed on the HARD disk or portable computer booting from the drive, but the environment is not bootable.

Have you tried to boot from the recovery delivered CD or have you tried to reinstall the operating system?

  • Windows does not start after recovery

Hey, satellite 1800 started son to have more and more slow to the point where it took close to an hour to boot in Windows. It got to the stage where it seemed that recovery from the CD was the only road - so we did. Everything had to look successful from the point of view of recovery but the installer of Windows XP displays "Please wait...". "with the normal activity of the disc looking for 20-30 seconds and then hangs - no disk activity, the mouse is not responding. I went through the recovery in "expert" mode and don't see any problems with the recovery process. Issues related to the:
1 no matter who else seen elsewhere?
    2. what else can I do diagnosis-wise?
3 which, basically, the recovery process not / (fact he re - format partitions, could it have left a virus?)
    4. I'm better h/w or s/w diags?

    Bitshifter

    Hi Bitshifter,

    topic of your question 3:
The recovery process replaces the whole HARD drive or even a partition with an image created by Toshiba. This image contains an operating system, drivers, and a few basic programs. All other data (including viruses) in this partition will be deleted.

    question 4:
I don't know the cause of your problem, but I think it's a hardware problem, because after recovery, there may be incorrect or missing software.

Sorry I can't give you more information.
    Good luck!

  • G62: New hard drive does not start after recovery.

I installed a new hard drive after my old a bi dust.

I ran the recovery from the discs of HP.

After formatting the disk and copy files, it won't boot from the disk.

I changed the boot order and tested the drive in the BIOS.

    What Miss me?

The new hard drive sometimes requires to prepare first with utility cd from Cyberlink. Download and save the file. Once the download is complete, place a blank cd in your drive and click on the file to create a boot cd. Start with this cd and wait until you get a green check mark indicates the hard disk is ready. Remove the cd, insert the first disc of recovery and restart the laptop.

  • Aspire E1 - 571 does not start USB recovery

Get the error message saying phone needs recovery. Went into BIOS and selected USB HDD to boot. But as soon as I insert the USB key, the machine goes in loop simply display the Acer logo, black screen. Reflected on the USB (purchased at dealer) and there are files it contains. I tried to start USB FDD and USB, CD ROM, but they do not work either. What Miss me? Help please.

If you need to reinstall your operating system:

If your laptop still has the Acer erecovery partition, you can simply start by pressing ALT + F10 and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you don't have this partition and want to use your USB recovery to reinstall your operating system, you must completely wipe your HARD drive first and then boot from USB.

You can boot from USB drive just by pressing F12 and selecting the USB flash drive as a boot device, rather than change the BIOS boot priority.

If your question is different, please post more details.

  • Mac does not start in recovery; could be related to Time Machine

I recently bought a new Mac with El Capitan. Last night I finished a Time Machine backup to my old Mac (also El Capitan) and installed on the new Mac Time Machine backup.  When it was done installing, it has stopped working - I just hit a blue screen. After an hour or two, I restarted and it has never progressed beyond the Apple symbol and the spinning wheel.  I tried to reboot into Recovery Mode to try a re - install, but it won't let me.  I then went in Mode safe mode with set reports and he never finished, start the system, he kept having the same error pop up - 'tried to access a file compressed or unregistered type 7' or '8' again and again.

I am at a loss.  Is it possible that I can boot into Recovery Mode, or otherwise get this machine to run?

    Thanks for your help.

Start the MBP with the OPTION, COMMAND + R keys.

Which should translate into a display showing a rotating globe:

Following the directions, you will be connected to the servers Apple and power reinstall the original OSX.  You may need to wipe the HARD drive before installing the OSX.

    Ciao.

  • Satellite M40 does not start from hard disk - read error

"I push the button - briefly see the In Touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA screen - then ' + a disk read error occurred press Ctrl Alt Del to restart +".

I control alt delete brings me briefly on the screen TOSHIBA where I can choose either F2 or F12.

Do I need a startup disk and where can I get one in order to boot from the CD ROM?
Do I try to get into the Satellite M40 product Recovery DVD-ROM - this concern for me as the hard drive will be reformatted and all data will be lost.

    I'm stuck please help!

    Hello!

If you enter the product recovery disc, Windows will be relocated and will be erasing all data on the HARD drive.

I think that your HARD drive is damaged. You can check this with the Drive Fitness Test. Here you can download:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. Then you can test the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

By the way: you can save the data on the HARD drive, when you put it in a box external HARD disk. Then you can save the data on another PC, if the HARD drive is ok and have no errors.

    Good bye

  • Satellite x 200-25 h does not read the recovery disk

    Hello

I bought my laptop less than a year ago and I wanted to format.
I tried to use the product recovery disc, but it seems that it will not read.
My laptop reads all CDs, but the recovery one.

I put the cd in the machine, stop, turn and press F12. It shows me 2 hard drives and cd/dvd option and one I don't remember, I think it's LAN. I choose the CD/DVD option and taking me in a black screen and after 1 minute, Windows load...

I already tried the other options, but nothing happened, the first option (1 hard drives) takes me to windows. The other takes me to a black screen, then windows.

When I use the cd of the laptop makes a horrible noise...

ANOTHER problem I have is that I have just 1 CD, I've never had a recovery CD 2 or more... I don't know that I have not lost given them that I never touched this thing...

    Please HELPPPP

    Hello

Maybe the drive is not able to manage the recovery due some scratches or something like that disc
Who knows why the CD/DVD drive cannot read, it seems to be the problem with the drive

You could try to copy (burn) this DVD using another computer and then could attempt to use the recovery disc copied in order to verify if the drive would deal with the new drive

    Check it out
