XP SP3 reboot problem

I'm trying to upgrade my XP Edition version 2002 Service Pack 2 for SP3 family.  My computer is a HP Pavilion with AMD Athlon 64 processor.  Installation seems to be okay.  No message error but when it restarts my system brings me to the screen of the Security menu.  I can get into safe mode, but don't know what to do to solve the problem.  I went through the steps online, including my program disabling antivirus is Norton 360.  I have resinstalled 3 times and get the same result.  In safe mode at the top of the screen is 'XP R Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.100216 - 1514.

I spent all day on this upgrade which I think would be simple, any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Even if you have the prerequisites (HP system with a processor AMD, the upgrade to SP3), you do not seem to be affected by the usual problem (stop error). But it's worth a shot.

How about including the SP2 and SP3 and building new Win XP disk in Win XP installation disc?

You can use a software called nLite. It allows you to integrate the drivers and updates on win xp disk.

After that, you can use the new disk to reinstall new OS

  • Windows XP SP3 installation problem

I have a HP Media Center edition (2002) with Service Pack 2 of Windows currently installed.  Microsoft has stopped support for effective SP2 online July 13, 2010.  When I try to upgrade to SP3 using automatic downloads or by going to the site to update for Microsoft, the installation does not complete.  The error code that keeps dislplaying is the error Code: 0 x 80070002.  I tried to use the help on the Microsoft Web site to correct this, but it still does not work.  Any information on how to solve this problem?  Thank you

Try MSFixit for the problem, or do the steps manually according to your preference:

Just rename the file Catroot2 usually solves these issues, for me anyway. Restart and try again the file to network install of SP3.

  • Win XP Pro SP3 - Validation problem

Under XP Pro SP3 (w/Media Player 10) for the last 3 years. Trying to register my new Garmin GPS, says I need Meda Player 11. There is NO valid key on any Windows drive - with the exception of the right brand OEM disc for your machine.

Another key found in or on a disk is invalid.

  • I have XP SP2 and am unable to install SP3. Problems with Windows install & download manager.

I rebuilt a laptop from scratch using XP Home.  Currently, no software beyond basic MS core apps.  Not even MS Office.  I am trying to activate the automatic updates.

The error messages that I get point to Windows Installer and/or MS Download Manager, but these same problems prevent me from deleting/updating install or Download Manager.

If I run FixIt to activate the automatic updates to download SP3, the following error message is returned:
    _Windows Installer_
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.
This can occur if Windows Installer is not correctly
    installed.  Contact your support team.

    If I try to manually download the SP3 (WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3 - x 86 - ENU.exe), the following error is returned:
    _Microsoft download Manager_
There was a problem opennig the Microsoft Download Manager.
Update your computer with Windows Service Pack 2 or later version to download
files using the Microsoft Download Manager.

I think I'll through in circles.   I need SP3 for automatic updates, but impossible to install SP3 since SP3 is not installed.  I must be missing something obvious, but I simply cannot get by.  I'd appreciate any help - thanks.

OK, I followed the link clicked on download, saved on my desktop, then tried to start the installation.  The returned message is:

  • SP3 update: problems, can only start in safe mode

Windows XP Home Edition: update to SP3, in the hope that it would, among other things, allow me to install the windows update service. Unfortunately, I can only boot in safe mode. If I try the normal startup, it goes into a boot loop. By that I mean that he tries to startup that fails, she tries again, then fails and just keep the loop. All of the answers.
The only way I see is to uninstall, and which may not be the right answer.

    Hi, Harvey,.

Try the solution given by DenyB:

"Installation disk to boot into the Windows XP Recovery console. He asks which disk you want to access and the Admin password (if you do not have a fair shot of password to enter). "Then type: COPY C:\WINDOWS\SERVICEPACKFILES\i386\gdi32.dll (1 place) C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\gdi32.dll press enter crush Y (Yes) press enter type EXIT reboot should Do It."

    Hi Tatiana,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. What happens when you try to start in normal mode?

Check if the below mentioned settings are correct on the computer in safe mode.

    (a) click on the start menu, click Run.

    (b) in the run box, type "msconfig" without the quotes and click OK.

    (c) click on the 'BOOT. INI"tab and uncheck" / SAFEBOOT ", click 'Apply', 'OK '.

  • Continuous reboot problem

    HP DV6000 laptop

-Intel Core Duo T2450 2 GHz

    -1 g RAM

    -Vista Home Basic 32

Portable colleague brought me, wouldn't boot Windows.  Diagnostic hard drive with physical failure, cannot be accessed by car, even using Linux OS and Test drive.

I replaced the drive and used the HP to reinstall Vista drivers and HP system recovery disk.

After all, I'm having an issue where, after Windows starts, the system will restart spontaneously after about 30 seconds now.  This cycle continues until the system is shut down.  Problem does not occur when it is started in Mode without failure.

Has seen a similar post suggested reinstalling the RAM, which I did, but still have the same results.

    Any suggestions?

    Well...

After more than web hunting, found what seems to be the issue.

HP apparently uses a program called Manager of GUI of FBI to reinstall Windows, HP drivers and programs from the recovery disc.  This program seems to be buggy, where after all has been installed, it is stuck in the reboot loop.

    SOLUTION:

    Start > run > MSCONFIG > startup

    Disable RUNFBI

    OK, restart

Will be no longer stuck in the loop of reboot of the system.

Delete the c: APPLZIP folder to remove the GUI of the FBI program.

Problem seems to be resolved, will display again if not.

Resolved on mine, but I hope it helps someone else with the same problem.

  • XP SP3 install problem on my presario SR1550NX with proc AMD desktop computer.

When installing service pak 3 full and is restarting my system will go up only in safe mode, no error message that I can understand.  It lasts for quite awhile and I've tried several things without success.  Everything works well with SP2 but want to install some latest updates for some of my programs, which often need SP3.

Here is a support article of MS

I suggest that you download the SP3, then burn it to a CD.

PS > I did successfully this SP3 update on many computers by using a CD.

  • NB100 - reboot problem

Hello world. I bought a second hand NB100 off e - bay for my girlfriend and it works very well for a while. The laptop restarts unexpectedly. As the problem occurs when the laptop is moved, and it is progressively getting worse (more frequent), I think there's a fitting loose somewhere. Any ideas?

    Hey,.

    > I think there's a fitting loose somewhere.
Maybe if it happens when you move the laptop. It could be a bad connection or similar on the motherboard so the laptop restarts.

Perhaps the HARD drive is the cause of the problem because it's mechanical part. In my opinion, it would be interesting to try to check the HARD drive with a special Drive Fitness Test as a diagnostic tool. It can check HARD drive for errors, and if the program detects something you need to replace.

But is it really necessary? I mean normally the laptop is always placed on a desk and is not moved ;)
