XP SP3 to access shared network (Server 2008 R2)

Hello

I have problems with getting a Windows XP SP3 machine to recognize a specific (out of 3) shared folder on a corporate network. Its the only machine that they are unable to access this particular network share since (it just started having a problem after another person cleaned the machine). I checked the user who is logged on to the machine has sufficient privileges on the share and should be able to access via AD, as well as on the action itself. Yet when I try to navigate to the folder it tells me that access was denied. I thought maybe the machine was to be part of a specific group, but this is not the case either.

Any ideas?

OK figured this out

Essentially with the newer versions of Windows, when a computer is joined to the domain, your AD credentials are removed automatically. With XP this is not always the case.

I ended up remove the profile of users of the connection via the command line. After that, I went to remap and he their credentials. Those she used was more valid. I used my administrator credentials and still no go.

I removed the connection and we used hers and it works beautifully. On Monday she had lost the connection to the drive following.

I found once again that he was trying to reuse the invalid credentials.

This time and I went to the title of the user accounts-> manage credentials removed the bad credentials.

Since then, she's stayed connected.

So just to remind, if all permissions are set correctly, check the credentials used to connect the hard drive.

  • Access the SMB storage using esxi host and manage with MS server 2008

Hi there, I know the subject line can be confusing, but I didn't know how to explain what I need in the line object in such a short sentence.

in any case, I have a storage device SMB, a Promise VTrak M610P, which is attached to a blade server 1U HP through interface channels double Ultra 320 SCSI host. I can't configure the VTrak as a NFS, the only way to access logical drives is connected to a server via the scsi channels and using the operating system to share the drive and the shared disks.

I would use a server blade with dual ultra 320 SCSI host interface channels and connect the VTrak to this server blade. Then I would install ESXI hypervisor OS 5.5 to this server blade. I want to know is if the ESXI operating system will recognize the logical drives and if I create a virtual machine with MS server 2008 and see if the virtual machine detects logical drives, so that I can share the drives? I hope that I'm supposed to and if I'm not, please let me know what makes no sense, I will do the best to explain it better.

    Thank you

    Andy

So it turns out that there seems to be something wrong with vClient when you add a hard disk (virtual disk) to a virtual machine of size greater than 4 TB. Article VMware KB: value of range error message when you add more than 4 TB capacity discs in vSphere Client describes this if you encounter this problem, add the hard drive via vSphere CLI, CLI power or vmkfstools. So this seems to be a known issue on vClient. What I ended up doing was using vClient, creation of hard disk, adding to the virtual machine (size of the hard drive is to 5.45) and when I would get the error message on the DiskCapControl out of reach, I would just click OK and then finalize the creation of the hard drive on the virtual machine. Once the process is complete, I selected the virtual machine and noticed that he indeed added a new HDD size 5.45 TB even if he's complained about it. I pulled to the top of the virtual machine with windows server 2008 R2 installed and was able to create a new disk under windows and set it up as a shared drive on the network. Looks like vClient must be updated by VMware and correct this bug, if it's a bug that I think. Thank you for the help vervoort!

  • After update to 10.11.5 I may more access shared folders/printers Windows PC network

My Mac repeat myself "you are not allowed access to this server." whenever I try to connect to a shared folder on a Windows 7 PC. Also, I can't print on a shared printer connected to a Windows PC.

These two things worked perfectly before the update. Nothing has changed on the PC.  I tried to restart both computers. I tried without sharing and re-sharing the folder on the PC. The folder is configured to allow "free access" to "everyone" access as guest.

    Any suggestions?

No problems like that here (post - 10.11.5). But inter-networking with windows has been hit or miss as long as I remember. Good luck finding the bug...

  • Windows Server 2008 - advanced sharing problems

    Hello

I maintain a small server of Windows for a laboratory on a College campus, and we currently meet a few mistakes when you share a folder called 'students '. We use advanced permissions to share the folder with the name of 'students' shared network It worked for months, but now students are no longer able to access the folder. The permissions are correct, and by another action called "students2" (pointing to the same folder on the server with the same permissions), it worked. My question is, what would cause the inaccessible original share (show on the network, but deny access) to the groups of users who need access? Thank you for your time, I look forward to your responses.

  • Desperate cry for help - Win7 and SBS 2008 sharing network/disconnections

    Hi all

I am facing a problem of bad guy who frustrated me for several weeks now!

    Scenario:
1 Windows Server 2008 SBS Premium Edition (not R2)
    Network share: \\Server\DBShare
also mapped as J:\ on client computers
Share contains some databases Access 2002 ("access xp") back-end (BE)

    2. customers: all diversified machines: XP, Vista, Win7, etc...
ALL have Access XP (2002) installed (runtime) and run a horrible old 13 year front-end (FE) which has been spasmodic developing since 1997. It is mission critical and there is no budget to rewrite is because it is sprawling and has its hooks in each device, procedure, policy and activity that we do.
Front-end is run locally, lies in the path of users % appdata %.

    Problem:

Currently 8 x peripheral non-Windows 7 system to access every day, stay connected 24 hours a day and never give disk errors or network.

ANY windows 7 machine is guaranteed to give disk or network error messages at some point - from 30 minutes to 15 hours by opening the front end and be left idle.

NOTE: I was sent here on the forum to access because they thought that Win7 forum would be more appropriate. For non-access users, Access is like the Canary in the coal mine
with regard to the problems of network connection. Even a slight network disturbance causes to complain about errors on the network and to require the connection to database
to be re-created, data loss and potentially damage this database to the file system.

I had all the world put in place using j:\variousdatabases.mdb, but read it as one
Nono so I scripted a change in all the drives mapped to UNC paths in the
connection of these tables property.  With this change, sometimes I just
get an "odd" error disk or network, then am able to reconnect - but this
bothers me terribly because 1. It can do damage to the db, 2. He
means that I must write to this trap for more than 300 forms and even the management of errors
so I think that there will be some things that I can't trap and 3. It is also SOMETIMES
do not reconnect and I get messages repeated... or even an appcrash.

When I say EVERYTHING, I mean I have 4 test devices: a work station, a Mini PC, a
laptop and a netbook. This started as a 'test upgrade' to Win7 on the
post work - but after this Show-stopping number, it became a desperate
Troubleshooting jamboree, involving more than systems and other tests, because the
solution seemed just around the corner.

Now, a week later, I'm ready to give in on computeres forever and go live
under a bridge, since I am unable to solve this problem and have already invested so much
a lot of time into it!

Here's what I think, that I decided to go out and why:

Not a problem of network infrastructure.
I can unlug a minipc with vista on it (same exact material) and connect it to the
the ethernet port on a win7 test evil machines and it plugs.
Fortunately for more than 24 hours. All the machines are on the same switch 24 ports. All the
nonwin7 machines work as if in a dream, even when moved to the port/cable
used by the machines of win7.

Not a problem of a server NETWORK card.
See above. Other devices not win7 Purring immediately without disconnecting.

    Not a server problem.
SBS2008 works * Virgin * for the last 7 months. Only the reason for
glance has been recently to try to resolve this problem of fools...
All clients not win7 are happy as can be, always.

The EM is not (apparently horrible?) dynamic TCP stack scaling or unloading on the
    SERVER.
EVERYTHING in the driver for the card that could be discharged (and has been by default,
no problem on other non-win7 clients) has been decommissioned. I also have
off the chimney and any other devices of automatic setting on the server.
(FYI - all STILL happy nonwin7 clients, server shows no significant increase)
    in the CPU usage)

The EM is not (apparently horrible?) dynamic TCP stack scaling or unloading on the
    CLIENTS.
Doing the same thing again on clients - auto tuning off the coast, where the unloading off
possible. Latest installed NETWORK card drivers that give many options of unloading
    to turn off.

    No offline files
These have been disabled on the server, on the client and in the group shares
policy just to make a point.

Not the MiniPc / the workstation laptop / Netbook / la
Seems unlikely that all 4 would not work because of the material error AND
drivers of offensive, but I ran out of ideas - so I photographed the MiniPC win7
and put Vista on. To my great regret, the Vista OS on the same device works
perfectly. Recreate the image of the OS Win7 and BOOM - same problem.

    No IPv6
Disabled on the clients and the server

    No IPX/SPX
    Not installed on the server

    No network traffic
(happens when I'm all but 5 computers off tension and nobody in the)
Office as well in the middle of the day when users are 'use'.)

    Not the time of day
Sometimes after 15 minutes in the middle of the afternoon or after 6 hours to
04:32 - does not coincide with the events of on the server or the client error log, does not
coincide with DHCP renewals (which are in 2 weeks)

    No server autodisconnect
The value - 1 both server and client (I know that's irrelevant on the client))
I also tried to add a ffffff keepconn regentry (I know that the stated max is
64 k, but it doesn't help me have the connection after 18 hours.)
FYI - no effect with or without the keepconn registry entries.

    Not be able to save
4 machines, 4 different ranges of stuff randomly to stop turning out - of
NICs for windows power plans to simply disable acpi. Problem
    continues

Not my version of Windows 7
Tried our company VLK Win7 and my personal copy of win7 ultimate
and the NetBook win7 Home premium. SAME SAME SAME

Not my drivers up to date
MS stock on old machines drivers that are not built for Win7 show me the
    same error
Laptop and Netbook (the latter preinstalled by the vendor) also give the same problem

It is not that I do not use the drive\UNC.
I ran a separate script that does just a DIR() on file every 10 seconds
and yet, I finally get disk errors.

It is not that I am not query the database and the connection is time
There is a database search all 2 minues in PA to check new data in a table

    This isn't a field/roaming profile issue
I tried logged as a domain with the profile user roaming user admin not now
the area, officially added to the domain and even laptops PCs
    not registered on the domain.

    It's not the system restore
    Disabled on clients

    Is not SMB signing
This is disabled in server group policy and still the same problem...

    Help, please!

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Thank you in advance to help improve my new year! & Happy holidays to those of you luck is not to be this troubleshooting!
