• XPS Doc pilot refuses to install on Windows 7

  Both the author of the XPS document AND the driver that are associated with have been removed from this computer.

  Windows 7 x 64.
  Our accounting software requires this driver must be installed in order to create invoices for customers. (QB)
  Quick Books gives me a link to microsoft XPS Essentials Pack.
  Microsoft XPS Essentials Pack will NOT be installed.
  This update does not apply to your system. Same error message we receive each time.
  installation of .net 3.0 does not add the driver back to my print server properties.
  Add/Remove windows features does not allow me to uninstall XPS essentials pack or anything related to it.
  All I need is the stupid XPS printer driver so I can reinstall it in my server properties and then I manually add the XPS printer, (the port still exists)

  First... THIS is not properly installed. I've seen tell me where to find the drivers to install other programs I mentioned in my first comment that was not for WIndows 7.

  I suggest you to download and install Microsoft XML Paper Specification Essentials Pack on your computer to read and generate XPS documents. It contains XPS Viewer EP to read XPS Documents and the Microsoft XPS Document Writer to output to the XPS Document format files.

• XPS 8700 GPU upgrade

  My PC is the 8700 XPS, described in my GIS unit. Non-SE.

  Double boots both Windows 7 Pro and 8, secure boot disabled.

  Current GPU is the AMD Radeon 7570 (OEM) that comes with it. I see this same pattern can also run the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 645 (OEM). It's basically a quick replacement? Obviously, the PSU is OK, as the POWER 460 block is the same in all models.

  Will be one of the 6 pins that is not in use, it will take if yes, is it important that we? I noticed that they are numbered differently, probably just to label a connection. I found them hidden behind the other sons.

  Finally, if everything is compatible, should I use the current Dell supplied drivers for the stability of the system (all the installed drivers are provided Dell), or I let NVIDIA auto detect & install?

  This has been a great PC for me, the XPS 8700 packs a lot of power in a mid-size Tower. Just, I want better video & don't want to deal with swaps of power supply, which could void my warranty.

  Unfortunately, you will need to move to a GTX 660 to get a display port.  I'd go with the HD 7770 HERE that is actually better than the GTX 650 for about the same cost.

• Reallocation of license VMware Essentials

  We have a VMware Essentials pack.  I have added a former host with a single processor to the vsphere recently to migrate a virtual machine to the new production host.

  Now, I have completed this migration I want to delete this former host.

  I can't assign the license hypervisor to the host when it is still connected in the vsphere as it fails to apply because the host has the vsphere active agent.

  
  

  I can remove it from the inventory of vsphere two using the legacy client and web client vsphere.

  However the license key is not returned to the pool of available on the server.

  I can confirm that I've now assigned a single hypervisor enabled to the host once it has been disconnected.

  and after reading other peoples comments I left this during more than a week some people suggest that the update of license can take half an hour or more.

  I have now closed the old host but still wish to recover the CPU license this host seems to have again.

  In vsphere licenses if I look at the tab hosts that it lists only the remaining guests and former host, I'm trying delete isn't there.

  However, in the license keys tab most license still the CPU usage shows an extra CPU.

  We use the device server vsphere version 5.5.0 build 2646482

  How can I get the vsphere to count is no longer the old host in the use of the licenses?

  This is unusual. What you try - unless already done--is to restart the vCenter Server Appliance (perhaps restart the Web Console service - Port 5480 - is enough) to see if this fixes the use of licenses!

  I am trying to open MS C:\windows\system32\xpsviewer, currently running on MS XP Professional.

  Get an error message whenever I try to open XPS.

  The message reads "XPSViewer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience ".

  I tried looking for the answer, but they seem to relate to MS Vista or 7?

  I wasn't sure what I should put it in so I chose programs?

  I would like to uninstall the XPS Viewer, then download and install a new copy.

  I don't know where you got your copy of Microsoft XPS Viewer, but it was packaged with XPS Writer in the Microsoft XML Paper Specification Essentials Pack

  I have not downloaded this, but I think that you don't have to install the XPS writer if you do not want to.

• How to put pictures as program default for import in Windows 8?

  I asked this already in the Photo Gallery section, but we ask here in the Windows 8 forums instead.  She is probably right that this is not a feature of the program, but the OS, so I should ask here.  Here's the question:

  The default for importing photos and videos option in Windows 8 is the "Photos" application  However, I also installed Photo Gallery and Movie Maker, which are part of the Windows Essentials pack and I would like to make photo library, the default program to handle the import pictures and videos.  I love the way this library allows you to event type names and then group photos and videos automatically in folders based on date taken.

  On my Windows 7 machine, it was simple enough to choose just photo library as default program for action "import pictures and videos".  But in Windows 8, the process is a bit more confusing.  Moreover, I am technically savvy, so this should not be complicated, but I have to just miss a step.

  I realized that I can go to the control panel > AutoPlay (or I can also open the Photo Gallery and go to file > Options > import > choose default AutoPlay options).  Under 'Storage of camera' I expect to see the option that you want, but I did not.

  What I see as choice are things like:

  • See photos (Photo Gallery)
  • Copy pictures to your computer (Picasa 3)
  • Download images (Adobe Bridge CS6)
  • Import pictures and videos (pictures)

  But there's No option "Import pictures and videos (Photo Gallery)".

  I've read elsewhere that I might need to change the association of image file to point to the photo gallery.  But the thing is, I don't want to click on the photos and videos and to open the photo gallery.  In other words, I don't want my default viewer Photo Gallery (I want it to be the Picasa Viewer), but I don't want it to be my default importer.

  I also realize that I always open the Photo Gallery and then choose Import, but which does not have my desire to have a work of AutoPlay for importation.  Once again, it was simple in Windows 7; so, what should I do in Windows 8 for the pictures my default program for importing photos and videos while keeping another program as my default photo display?

  Well, I don't know which of the problem resolved following registry entries, but I now have the ability to import videos and photos with photo gallery.  These steps assume that you have already installed the latest photo gallery and Movie Maker, which is owned by Windows Essentials.  It also assumes that you are running a 64-bit version of Windows 8.

  If someone wants to try this, first backup your registry.

  Start by registering WLXPhotoAcq.dll and WLXPhotoViewer.dll.

  Open a CMD prompt in Admin mode.  Now, type the following:

  c:

  regsvr32 WLXPhotoAcq.dll

  regsvr32 WLXPhotoViewer.dll

  You should get a dialog box after each call regsvr32 confirming that the registration was successful.

  Now, copy these lines into Notepad and save it as a file with a .reg (e.g. PhotoGalleryImport.reg).  Then, double-click the file. When you are prompted, allow update the registry.

  I don't know how to come back to my original thread about the lack of sound tried everything suggested. This computer is now an improved dell dimension XPS service pack 3 which gave me desktop. I was recently given a wireless mouse to my son for mother's day. After he helped to install it and I had removed the adobe flash player and reinstalled it I still had no audio. I did search and destroy, removal of beta Mozilla and reinstalled mozilla 12 drivers reinstalled Dell and unzipped (Bill Smithers advice) and system restore, went back 2 days where worked the audio (I think that was suggested to my email address and a moderator today) but I tried it yesterday.

  Assuming that your sound card is not defective, back up your sound should be pretty easy. As I suspected, your computer has been infected by malware. For now, we will make sure that your computer is infected is more then solve the sound problem.

  Please click HERE. Locate the uninstall program to uninstall your version of AVG... Once you have completed uninstalling please uninstall SpyBot Search & Destroy. After uninstalling SpyBot, click HERE. Download aswMBR and run it. After clicking on scan, you will be prompted to download the Avast antivirus engines. Please choose Yes for the option. Allow the analysis to be performed. Once completed, if the text in the window of the scanner appears in red text click on fix. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

• encoding dvd hangs during burning in windows movie maker

  I got my film in preview and clicked "burn" - the dvd encoding process starts, then stops at 1.1%.  No error message is given; hold the right encoding.

  I downloaded the windows essentials pack 2.3d media codec that has solved a problem I had upload my video in movie maker.

  I tried to disable the video filters under Tools, but it had no effect on the dvd, encoding of stall.

  Ideas?

  How are you trying to publish the movie?
  What is the format of the file you want to burn?
  You try to burn all protected digital content?
  Are you able to burn DVDs using the default windows DVD burner?

  This could happen if the format of the files you used in movie maker could be the cause of this problem. If you try to publish the film directly on the DVD, then I suggest you try to publish to the computer and then try to burn the DVD.

• Windows Media Player in vista has stopped playing my video files (.) MOD extensions)

  My Windows media player recently stopped playing my video files that have a. Extension of MOD, although the audio is not yet once the video is crushed. When the video freezes a computer bubble lets me know that the driver igfx has stopped working and then recovered.

  I spent many hours trying to solve this problem. My graphics card is an Intell chipset and it is up to date with his driver (I checked), the motherboard is an ASUS and this is far too - I checked. I ran an auto fix and that disabled four codecs, but the problem persists. I have run the sfc / scan now processes at the prompt as an administrator and it came clear.

  The problem is driving me crazy! can anyone help? When I play the video on another computer that works under XP, I have no problem.

  I'm unable to either import or drag and drop photos into Windows Live Movie Maker.  I just finished a movie and when I try to open a new project, I click on "Add photos and video", taking me to 'my pictures', but when I try to open him "add photos and video", the "file name" has so much history, it doesn't allow me to click on the location of my file.  How can I get rid of this story?  The first film was so easy, but this new project has been up to this impossible after about 7 hours of attempts.  Help, please!

  I think perhaps the best next step after all your efforts of trying to fix the program.  For this, since it is part of the Windows Essentials pack, you can go to the page Windows Essentials and re - download and re-install the package, which will update and fix the movie maker if necessary. I hope that this solves the problem for you. Please let me know how it goes.

  Photo slideshow screensaver can be controlled more?  Old XP had backup and forward with the arrow keys.

  Not the built-in one, but if you download the Windows Essentials pack option, this one comes with a full version.

  Hi - I use the Photos app to crop photos. It's really easy and ideal for use. Sometimes, however, when I open the app the function of 'culture' seems locked it IE I can not move the image or photo and cannot do a thing.   You have installed the Windows 8.1 update?  The photo app was entirely rebuilt in the update (even if she did lose some functions).

  You can try using AKVIS desktop from Microsoft instead, free as part of the Windows Essentials pack.
