You want to clean install Windows Vista. Can I download media Dell supplied with my machine?

Help - want to start again.

I have a Dell XPS630i with Windows Vista. I can't go online. I got a blue screen saying crash dump. Turned it off. Same thing is back. Finally, I came home and I can't get online.

I want to just start over completely. How to clean and reload the discs and the Vista from Dell. I've got it all. I have back ups of all that interest me.

Please help me!

Thank you

Hello

Here's how to reinstall Vista with the Glens recovery Partition (if available to you):

"Restore your software Computer´s factory settings."

http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/KCS/document?c=us&l=en&s=Gen&docid=DSN_336966&isLegacy=true

And this is how to use recovery provided Dell discs:

"Manually reinstall your Windows Vista operating system"

http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/KCS/document?c=us&CS=19&l=en&s=DHS&docid=DSN_339949&isLegacy=true

If necessary (if you have problems with discs), call Dell and ask them to provide you with a set of recovery disks Vista.

They do it for a small fee.

http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/DellCare/contact_us?c=us&l=en&s=Gen&redirect=1

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

See you soon.

  • You want to re - install Windows 7, no original disc!

Hello, I recently bought a Veriton L670G opportunity for our family of PC.

It seems to be a compact and very nice unit.

I would like to do a clean install of Win 7 Professional on a new hard drive but has no installation disc.

The base of the unit has what appears to be a COA ACER original and in good condition for Win 7 Pro, but I have purchase Acer problems required media.

After several online "chats" with ACER, I paid about 51GBP and received a CD containing only of FreeDOS.

There is clearly something that I'm either wrong or I am providing erroneous data.  I have provided the serial number of the BIOS Veriton case labels info and photo of the ACER Microsoft COA.

The Microsoft web site will not help as they say that it is the responsibility of the ACER as OEM.  No doubt, Microsoft acknowledges the number of COA as having come from ACER.  The COA label has ACER clearly on this.

ACER support chat tell me that the machine was initially delivered with FreeDOS but the tag box is clearly for Win 7.

Still no Acer said that my COA is not legitimate, so I'm at a loss to know how I can provide me with a legitimate system of re - install.

Is it possible to create media complete re-installation of my ongoing Win 7 OS?  I don't see a way to do short to take a ghost of thesystem partition copy.

Useful suggestions (other than the purchase of a copy of the retail of a BONE) are welcome.

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Jonathan

  • BOOTMGR is missing, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete while trying to install Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - Bit

Now that I got my 64-bit Vista in the mail and quickly install disc he jumped in my DVD player. The installation process went well until I was asked to choose which hard drive, I tried to install Vista on. I tried to format my hard drive to this screen, I was working with Vista 32 bit before that and saw no need to divide my two work machine with two separate versions of the same operating system. After formatting the hard drive, I have been unable to click on the 'next' button and engage the next step of the installation process. There was a message is displayed to the bottom of the window, as well tell a word about the installation of a machine already running windows. I would be happy to provide further information to the topic of my problems during this step, but my problems do not stop here.

After you notice the message described above and do not get farther in attempts to install later, I decided to try to reinstall the 32-bit version of Vista and then maybe try to upgrade to 64-bit. However when I put in the CD at retail, rather than receive messages at the start of a disc, I have met with the harsh reality of "BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart." Since then got trapped in a painful loop switching between disc 32-bit and the 64-bit disk in the hope that it would finally let me begin with him.

In addition to this logically faulty tactics, I also searched some online solutions. I made sure that my DVD drive is first in my boot order. My computer will not yet make Flex and give me the ability to boot from a disk.

My question is this; How can I get my computer let me boot from a disc again?

I will probably also need help to drive problem hard he, but as I can not even in a position to provide information on this issue at the time I need to have the above resolved dilemma first.

  • El Capitan install file corrupted, can't download on App Store

I had intended to do a clean install of El Capitan on a 13 "-end Macbook Pro 2011, but a few problems:

    (1) the main issue: cannot re - download El Capitan from the App Store installation file, the button is gray, saying "downloaded". (After you have created a bootable USB key with it, I deleted it). I have I enabled the Debug mode to make sure that's not in the download folder, empty the Recycle Bin and rebooted. Still shows downloaded in tab purchase it is grayed out. How can I force download? Is there another place I can download it from the App Store? I found a few old messages of the forum about this problem, but these are old links that do not seem to work (the latest version is 8 December 2015). If you know how to do this, you can stop reading here...

    (2) complete the background: I downloaded and installed El Capitan on a bootable USB key (which I created). After reformatting the new drive, I rebooted holding Option and selected the bootable USB key, engaged in steps. Once I passed the user contract, chose the HD destination for the installation, etc. where it should normally take one hour or so install, I got the error: "this copy of the install OS X El Capitan application cannot be verified. It may have been corrupted or altered during the download. "So my reason for wanting to re - download, but cannot.

    (3) complete complete history: I got a new SSD and that he would do the clean install on the new HD. I backed up with Time Machine and installed El Cap on the new drive, hoping to skip the bootable USB. Just for security, I (fortunately) was also still the bootable USB key. When I went to start after the installation of the new SSD, I got the grey screen with a folder and a question mark in it, and was not at the start. I restarted with Cmnd-r and got a failure error when checking/repairing: "problems were found with the partition plan that might prevent from starting. Because I got the USB bootable, I recently reformatted and successfully verified. Which brings me to (2) above.

I have the time Machine and the original HD, but hope I can avoid restoring the Machine time or take off again my computer and just re - download. Any thoughts? (Sorry for the length, but I wanted to give all the information in case there is something that I am missing).

    Thank you!

    Re-download the installer El Capitan:

Unplug all external drives from your Mac.

If you have connected the disassemble all network drives.

Check your Applications folder. This is the place to get downloaded installers for OS X.

Check your LaunchPad. If you find the installer of El Capitan in there, remove it.

    Open App Store.

    Disconnect from the App Store.

    End App Store.

    Restart your Mac.

    Open App Store.

Log IN to the App Store.

Check if the download button is available again.
