zBook G1 17: zBook 17-mSata + RAID clean install problems

Hey all,.

Context: I have a zBook 17 G1 that I try to do a clean install of Windows 10.  I updated the system - Windows 7 Pro and 500 GB HARD drive - and added an mSata 256GB SSD and two-SSD 512 GB (in RAID0) in the bays of upgrade.  The mSata will start the service.

Situation: I've upgraded to Windows 10 fine enough - changed the UEFI BIOS (with CSM), compatible RAID (checked CTRL-I option) and configured accordingly (RAID0) drives and no RAID for the mSATA.  I installed a legitimate copy of earn 8.1 I've had and then upgraded to Windows 10 - no problems.  Now, do a clean install of Windows 10: wipe all readers to clean all partitions and to nine.

The problem:  The clean install is fine but then restarted I 3F0 (BootDevice not found) error.  When I go back to the BIOS, RAID option is no longer visible (only AHCI and IDE).  If I change the start of LEGACY and restart Option that I get the same error of 3FO.  Back in the BIOS, RAID return.  If I change the mode of UEFI (without CSM) I can load the operating system and restore the system running, but I lose the RAID option.  Also setting UEFI (with CSM) and RAID allows me to use the ROM Intel to set volumes (CTRL-I).  Works perfectly, to install the operating system, but the BIOS option disappears after a reboot.  I see the CTRL-I to screen on startup, can I remove or recreate RAID volumes, even install an operating system but then I get error 3F0 on reboot.

I ran diagnostics UEFI disk - PAST.  No matter what point of view on what could be the problem?

Note: I called on that second level of HP support and they have no idea (even less).

OK, I found it after a conversation with the 2nd level of support HP @ and a few alterations.  There is certainly a strangeness of BIOS that passes.  My problem has been resolved by the following:

1 reset the BIOS security and the default BIOS

2. remove all SSD without boot except the mSata SSD - set the BIOS to boot in the native UEFI (without the CSM support)

3 secure erase the mSata SSD boot (I had one more step in the PSID reset because the drive was encrypted)

4 affecting BIOS RAID device settings (the option is available and has remained in place)

5. installation windows 10 - clean and brand spanking again and update all drivers, including Intel RST

6. Once installation has been good to go, added the two SSD - rebooted twice and ensured that I saw them in RST / Device Manager

7. created my RAID 0 array using Intel RST - now I'm good to go

I guess to try to set up raid with UEFI (with the CSM support) was my problem.  It all works now.  Hope this helps anyone who is facing the same issue in the future.

    Hi all

My apologies if this has been answered before (I searched through the forums of viable solutions).

I tried to format my hard drive on my laptop Lenovo Thinkpad X 220 and perform a new installation of Windows.

Since my laptop doesn't have any CD player, I went to download a Windows 7 .iso file professional hoping to use it as a

    bootable USB tool.

Extract the file .iso on the USB port, went into the BIOS and choose USB, but in vain.

Decided to download the exe tool Windows 7 USB/DVD with the .iso file I always had, but eventually received this message:

After a bit of searching on Google, apparently there is a bypass to this by changing the file .iso of UDT (However the .iso file I had was already ranked UDT).

If anyone has had experiences with this, I'd love to hear your comments or advice.

    Hi Hiro,

I think I downloaded the two files .iso on this site here which has the same links.

Looks like .iso files are corrupt (I've heard some people sometimes had to re-download).

I looked for alternatives and eventually found one that worked.

    Thanks for the help.

  • Problems ZBook 15 mSata detection

I have a brand new 15 ZBook with a 180 GB mSata SSD (SSDMCEAW180A401) INTEL and a 750 GB HARD drive. MSata SSD lies in the operating system (Windows 7), the bios is set to legacy, quick start is off, and the only startup option selected is msata. The multiboot menu is also set to 5 s (just to see what devices are available, facilitating the diagnosis).

Turn on the laptop, boot Express options show mSata and portable hard drive, after 5 seconds, the mSata operating system starts and all is well. While in Windows, choose the stop, the laptop stops and then turn it back on, everything is the same that previously, Express boot options display mSata and Windows starts after 5 s.

    Now, here's the problem:

Choose restart in Windows restarts the mobile computer, see Startup Express options, but the mSata is missing. Only the hard drive of the laptop appears and after 5 seconds I get not found Bootdevice! Pressing on enter, the laptop restarts again and terminal as HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) appears. Choosing output and confirming the laptop restarts again, the startup options Express stil show only the Notebook hard drive and the process repeats. The only way out is to press the power button, and after he died. Turn it back on, the spectacle of Diagnostics of material for the PC HP (UEFI) upward and out there, startup options Express redisplay mSata and the system boots.

Seems to me as it is a BIOS problem - in restart mode, it does not detect the mSata drive. If it is in cold start mode. Maybe the mSata SSD is not yet completed initialization at the point where Express boot options go up and there should be a delay of some sort.

It gets very frustrating because the updates will restart the PC and it won't come back without my intervention. Having updates disabled is not an option.

    Help please!

    Thank you

    Hello

To solve your problem, you must ensure that the SATA device is set to RAID, you can find it in the Menu advanced-> device-> peripheral Mode SATA Configurations.

I think that the problem is due to the implementation of HP with intel uses of wich cached smart answer only the msata ssd SSD should work only with a HARD drive and requires Sata in RAID mode.

So in the Zbooks with msata ssd that you must make sure to keep it in RAID mode. Also HP does not support the msata with ssd sata ssd, and I do not think that it supports the use of the msata ssd other other uses the cache.

Also, if you want to use Intel SRT the maximum size of the cache can be used on the msata SSD is 64 GB.

  • HP ENVY 6-1030ec: Win7 clean instalation

    Hello.

I have HP ENVY 6-1030ec with a 500GB HDD and SSD standard as an additional cache 32 GB. I wanted to clean install Win 7 on it, but was unable to do so.

First of all, I couldn't readers to the place where I have to choose on what Windows installation disc. I then completely formatted the disk HARD 500 GB, and stupidly enough even the recovery partitions. It did not help.

I did some google search and found http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Clean-install-Win-7-hybrid-hdd/t.... I downloaded the drivers, but it didn't work. First of all, it depends in what USB slot is my bootable USB key. A location, I don't see another USB with the drivers on this subject. If I pass the USBs and start installing, it ignores the part where I can choose the drive to install Win 7 in and goes straight to the part where I should load the drivers. In this case, I am able to see the other USB key, find some drivers on it, but having tried to install those, he's said something on this subject there are no new features.

Then I tried to install Win 7 on the hard disk on another computer. It worked fine and I used Sysprep - EHC and hope that this will solve the problem. I did and it has not solved the problem. After a few questions, I am in the State Win 7 install, reboots and before the part where I chose the username, etc. I get the error "installing Windows could not configure Windows on hardware on this computer." I googled a https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2466753 solution, but it did not work. First, I tried the drivers (again), and then I turned off RAID. Now, when installing Win 7, I see not only on the HARD drive, but also on the SSD. However, I still get the same error.

I googled some more and found http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/61328-63-widows-setup-configure-windows-computer-hardware. I tried the msoobe part a, but when I run it, it says the program is not compatible with the current version of Windows and that I should check for x 64 or x 86 system.

I also tried to install Win on another HARD drive. This time I still, even had to choose the user name in Windows, set time zone, put in the product key, but then I get the error "failed to initialize the connection process. Interactive Logon Process initialization has failed. Please see the the event log for more details". I tried Googling, but is a few tips for when this occurs after Windows worked normally.

I did Setup Win 7 as many times, but it never occurred to me. I'm really confused right now and you'd be grateful for any help.

    Hello.

    Thanks for the reply.

I tried the tests at some point earlier, all passed without problem. The other link you suggest the links just to this question.

Anyway, I solved it by installing Windows 10 directly.

    Hello:

In addition to what Erico posted, you must:

    1. make sure legacy mode is enabled in the BIOS and safe start is disabled.  Windows 7 is not compatible with secure startup.  Check out this guide for which parameters to change.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03736054

    2. connect your USB key on one of the USB2 ports so that it works.  It won't boot from the port USB3.

  • Clean install of Windows 8 on ENVY 4-1195

    Hello

I buy a FANCY 4-1195 with Win8 preinstalled on it. I need to clean install Win8 Enterprise on it for power to reach the company network.

I boot from the CD, goto custom Setup to do a clean install of Windows on the new PC, but when I get to install Windows I get this error message:

We have found all the disks. For a storage driver, click on load a driver.

    When I click on

    I get the message:

No signed device not found driver. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers...

When I try to browser only see us D (DVD) drive and drive X: (Boot) and no C: drive.

    Thanks for your help

The system uses something of a RAID configuration, because it doesn't have an Intel RST and a Smart Connect pilot.

The problem is that I don't have access to a copy non - OEM Windows 8 to test the manual installation of the driver Intel RST or Smart Connect method.

What is a stock Enterprise of Windows 8 version or a custom image for the company?  If it is a stock Enterprise installation, then the Windows Anytime Upgrade would be an option provided the OEM copy is always available and you know what is the product key.

However, you can try to extract the contents of the package driver to a USB flash drive and try to manually install one of the drivers (RST or Smart Connect) to see if it makes the configuration of disk HARD visible during the installation process.

    Intel driver for fast ignition

    Intel Smart Connect driver technology

    7-zip

    1. install and open 7-zip.

2 in 7 - zip, access both downloaded drivers linked above in the post.

    3. right click on each one and choose 7-zip > Archive open.

    4. extract the contents of each driver on an external USB drive.

    5. When you arrive at the selection of blank disc screen during installation of Windows 8, select the option to load drivers.

    6. go to the file Intel RST pilot which was extracted, select drivers and appropriate architecture (x 86 for 32-bit, x 64 for 64-bit).

    7. This can be a process of elimination.  Try each driver (in RST and Smart Connect) until you find one that works.

    8. when the appropriate driver has been installed, then the HARD drive should be visible.

    Let me know what happens.

  • Clean install Win XP

    Location:
I have a Sony VGC - 830G provided with Windows XP3 OEM preinstalled. (IOW about 6 years). I have 2 hard drives (150 GB each) set up in RAID 0 with four other partition D (media), E (images created by Paragon), F (games), G (various programs). There is a hidden partition somewhere containing system restore stuff. I have the cd of Win XP with integrated SP3 I want to clean install instead of use the restore cd that I created when I bought the pc.

    Issues related to the:
    1. If I clean install Win XP, this will affect only the drive when I installed it in C?
    2. I still can access other partitions if I reinstall partition magic and paragon drive backup programs?
3 will be I could reuse the restore cd original return to the bloated OEM system that came with the pc?

  • How to do a clean install of Windows 7 on Dell Inspiron 7520 (aka Inspiron 15R Special Edition)

The operating system that are preloaded on my Dell Inspiron 7520 (a.ka. Inspiron 15R Special Edition) is Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium. I have a retail version of Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate and want to do a clean install on my laptop.

My laptop was able to boot from the retail disk.

After clicking on 'Install now' and accepted the terms and conditions of Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate, I checked the configuration box "Custom (advanced option" in which a new copy of Windows would be installed. The next screen that displayed contained the following bizzare message: no hard drive found. "Click on load a driver to provide a driver for installing mass storage.

Could someone tell me where and how to find the mass storage driver?

I am also having exactly the same problem:

After getting BSOD (indicating iaStor.sys) every 20 minutes or so I decided to format the laptop and install my copy of opportunity of Win7 Pro SP1. I jumped in the Win7 DVD and I saw that the couldn t of windows setup find any HARD drive to install to.

I downloaded the drivers from Intel (f6flpy - x 64) and them burned on a CD. It took me a few tries (I kept getting error messages), but the computer finally accepted Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller drivers.

Finally, I could see the readers. So I deleted the partition of 1 TB, created two new partitions (~ 100 GB and GB 890) and clicked on 'format' on two of them.

But when I tried to select ONE of them as the destination for Windows drive, I received the following message:

"Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 Partition 3. Details: Windows cannot install to the selected location. "Error 0 x 80300001.

So now when I turn on my laptop (since there is no operating system or anything), I get a black screen with the following message:

    Windows Boot Manager «»

Windows could not start; A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To solve the problem:

    blablabla (nothing really useful)

    Status: 0xc0000034

Info: an unexpected error occurred. »

Before I read this thread I also tried to change the SATA settings to AHCI and ATA, but both STILL produce ANOTHER problem: installing Windows recognises the hard drives, but it never rose from 0% of the phase of "expanding files" installation.

    Please, can anyone help?

  • Why can't I do a clean install on my Dell laptop?

I bought a Dell Inspiron 17R laptop SE 7720 computer a few months ago. I would like to do a clean install with the installation disc that Dell sent me for the computer. But, when I try to install Windows 7 the DART player does not appear in the select drive window to install. The window is empty. I put the driver CD that was sent with the disc of Windows 7 Instillation. And it says drivers not found. I installed systems before, but I've never run it before. Hope that it helps. Maybe someone else has gone through this.

When you install Windows, the installation disc normally contains the drivers required to run your disk controllers HARD is connected to, and as such, you will see the HARD drive and be able to create partitions, etc as and install.

If for any reason, the controller drivers are not on the installation disc, you will not see the HARD drive and have nothing to the partition. This lack of a good pilots can occur if the controller is a RAID card or the motherboard controller manages the RAID functionality and installation disc doesn't know about them.

Normally drives OEM must contain all the drivers for your specific hardware, so maybe you have the wrong disc or the disc has not been good...

To work around this problem, when Windows Installer boots drive upward, you always get an option to press F6 and then load the appropriate drivers for the controller used (for the motherboard or raid card).

Not knowing your laptop card mother, I assume you have a chipset intel AHCI + RAID features. You can check this by starting at the current operating system and looking at the Device Manager where you should see "Standard dual channel PCI IDE Controller" or "Intel Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset STAT RAID Controller". If you see the later, you must find the Dell IRST driver and download it. Yes, you have TSRI and this driver should be correct.

After downloading, run the executable that should create directories, to not proceed with the installation. Check to see if there is a Readme in the directory created and/or an F6 disk (or something similar) directory. Read the "readme." If there is a floppy F6 directory, place this directory on a USB key and when you start windows installation disc, press F6 and insert the stcik USB into the laptop and go to the F6 floppy disk to the USB directory by selecting the appropriate drivers. Windows Installer should then continue and you should see your HARD drive.

Once you have installed Windows, make another trip to the dell laptop driver page and update all the relevant drivers to the most recent available

    I hope this helps...

  • X 220 clean install. Now, no OSD and the battery don't charge threshold

    Hello world

I installed an mSATA SSD last night with the 2.5 hdd 320 "stock on my X220i (4286-2AU). I did a clean install of Windows 7 on mSATA, that will be my OS drive.

I installed most of the drivers for the devices, but note that even if most of the function keys (FN +...) (the WIFI FN + 5 even does not), is no longer there we're working on a display on the screen. I play with this before clean install so I know that with the factory settings, OSD worked very well. I check the display properties in Windows and on screen display is checked.

In addition, in the power manager, I have more the possibility to set minimum and maximum battery charge start and stop the thresholds.

For the power management driver I installed only
    Power Manager for Windows 7 (32 bit, 64 bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad

and to the left of two other pilots:

    • Driver ThinkPad Power Management for Windows 7 (32 bit, 64 bit), Vista (32 bit, 64 bit), XP (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad
    • Module ThinkPad Power Manager Patch for Windows 7 (32 bit, 64 bit), Vista (32 bit, 64 bit), XP - ThinkPad

I've also already installed I think I should have to take care of OSD but I guess I was wrong:
Integration of features Hotkey for Windows 7 (32 bit, 64 bit), Vista (32 bit, 64 bit), XP (32-bit, 64-bit) and 2000 - ThinkPad

    but decided to jump:
ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows 7 (32 bit, 64 bit) - laptops

Would appreciate any help on this matter. He's not a killer, but thresholds OSD and battery were something I was looking forward from that installed clean.

    Thank you!!!

    Hi alanbrenton;

Did you put it in there.

This must go with shortcut keyboard and Power Manager.

    Hello

I'm trying to do a clean install of Windows 8 on my new Samsung 840 Evo SSD - but when I go through the process of installing Windows 8 will detect not the hard drive - and wonder for drivers?
I'm not sure what it does cause here I can't find the drivers for this SSD drive
I read something about changing the settings of my RAID BIOS to AHCI - but not quite sure what that means...
Hopeing someone can talk me through this

    Hello

Just a short note to tell you I had this work - I was just using the samsungs migration software - something that I had already tried before but without success - difference this time is that instead of connect the SSD drive via the usb port 3 as they suggest (for the initial migration), I connected directly to the pc.

  • XPS 420 - HARD drive failed, performing a clean install of Vista on the new HARD drive.

    Hey everybody,

My on my XPS 420 HARD drive failed and I'm trying to reinstall Vista using the disc that came with my machine back when I bought it.

I bought a new WD10EZEXAZ (1 TB Serial ATA HDD), he rose in the same dwelling as my old HDD (ST3750630AS * Barracuda 7200.11*). I start the PC and goto Setup, it recognizes the HARD drive in the blue menu.

Then I boot with the CD of Vista that came with my system. I proceed as indicated through the following url:

    Clean install of Vista

After its copied files, expanded the files, installed features, updates installed... it goes to "Complete Installation" and throws an error message: "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on a hardware on this computer."

I tried a few things I've seen posted on the internet, including trying to run msoobe.exe via command line. When I did, it allows me to Setup user... but finally I get sent to this message of error or another telling me I have to reinstall Windows.

I read else where some hard disks may not compatible with the Dell disk provides with my OEM machine. If this is the case, can someone advise? I really didn't want to spend $100 one another on a Windows 7 disc, but I feel like this may be my only option... but even in this case, I'm not so sure this will work or the other.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Tony

    UPDATE *.
Did some more research, I discovered my new drive HARD is an advanced HDD format... not sure if it has nothing to do with my problems (by www.wdc.com/advformat Vista should not need to perform the work before the OS being installed), but thought I would mention it.

    Thanks again for any help.

    ****************

Seems that I found the solution to my problem.

Problem has been fixed by going into the BIOS and change the Mode of Port SATA to IDE/native/AHCI native. After that, the installation worked without any problems. Seems that Windows Setup did not like the port mode is set to RAID.

Just thought I would post back everybody incase has had the same problem.

I'll install MacOS Sierra like many of you, but I won't update or upgrade, I want to do a 'Clean Install' on my iMac to the retina. There are several small, painful on ranging from the questions that no ONE at Apple was able to help with. I'm sped to start again and I hope after a month or two AFTER Sierra is released and immediate bugs will be crushed and then I can make the trip. Since Sierra is a new file system, I hope that everything will be good in the rim. This way my two hundred concerts (or almost) of music plays without hiccup and my huge photo library will play too nice!

There are several "how to" out in WEB land, but honestly, each of them is a little confusing. I do not understand why Apple insists on not to put an accurate Concise Guide, step by step. My burlap as 1st Sergeant used to explain in the body when something needed to explain. We said, ' Let explain me it like Barney. Referring to Barney Fife. In other words, super easy. I was going to buy an eBook take control books Scholle McFarland. I wonder what any of you think of the great guru?

Yes I use Time Machine. Yes, I have backed up Photos and iTunes separately. I'll do the same thing to my documents and email (not sure one).

    Appreciate some guidance.

    This isn't a bad guide... http://osxdaily.com/2015/10/01/clean-install-OS-x-El-Capitan-Mac/

Just replace the name of 'El Capitan' with 'macOS Sierra.

FWIW, the upgrade can not get rid of your "hard" problems, according to what they are.
